Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality product Love the fast charging. Everything works as it should. Only downside is the location of the plug and on/off switch. Plug should be on the side and power switch on the front. Also the cover flap is annoying. There has to be a better way to cover outlets

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for a quick home backup when you live in TX We lose power at my house at least once a year, usually for 3 to 4 days. Now that I work from home, this has become a far bigger issue. Picked this unit up at REI and love it. Just the right size to power my fiber router and my laptop and external screen, as well as keep my phone charged. I picked up the Boulder 100 briefcase unit and it's the perfect combo to keep me going will the utility does it's annual repair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yeti 500 The Yeti 500 portable power station is incredibly handy to have at home. I really wish I had it during the snowstorm a few years back. I'm thrilled to have been given the chance to test it out. When I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised by how compact yet powerful the power station is. It takes approximately 1.5 hours to charge it fully. The best part is, there are multiple ways to recharge it - through solar power, the car, or the wall. I'm definitely taking it with me to the beach or on my next camping trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Two Yetis are better than one I bought a Yeti 200 about three years ago. The purpose was to power a Dometic 28 l portable refrigerator. It has been great, but I wanted more capacity. I decided that a Yeti 500 would be a good compliment. That way I could charge one battery in my tent with a solar panel outside while using the other battery in the car with the refrigerator, locked up and safe from bears. I like the design of the Yeti series, and packaging for shipment is robust. The Yeti 500 arrived in about two weeks to Canada.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flawless Since Day 1! Long overdue review!! I’ve had the Yeti 500 from the day it became available and it’s been used a ton! From camping, running our Alta fridges, SkyLight and other Goal Zero accessories! With the heavy use on photography trips and assignments in the outdoors, this battery charges from zero (or any %) to full crazy fast! I saw the ads of the mud and water getting splashed on it and the cover is awesome, protected and still working! We dropped ours in some mud on accident and it was fine. The battery is quite light and worth the money for home use when the power goes out!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SMALL BUT MIGHTY!! Received free gift from Influenster! Well this couldn’t have come at a better time! We just finished building our shed on the side of the house and we were going to run an extension cord allllll the way around the house to power anything inside. Now, we don’t have to! Not only can we use it at home and around the house, but we have tried 2 different brands of portable power stations around the same price and they wouldn’t power ANYTHING. We were able to charge this from 90%-100% in about 8 minutes. So even if you are out dry camping and run out of juice you can charge it in town somewhere if needed. Love the lighted display and the fact that there are covers to protect all the important things on the front and back! I also had this in the shed and was comfortable enough to bring it right inside. It’s a tiny little thing! Smaller than a standard single lunch box. I am amazed that this will power a smoker for as long as it does I can’t wait to make the best meals while camping!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it. I have two 1000x power stations, but I got this 500x and I dig it. It easy to tote around one handed and the newer chemistry means it can take effectively a lifetime of charging and discharges without degrading like lead acid ones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Backup power for medical devices I’ve had my 500 for six months now. Can’t say anything bad about it. I take it in car as backup power for my portable oxygen concentrator . Wrecks, car trouble, blown fuse for power outlet could happen. In the house it gives me over nine hours runtime for the portable oxygen concentrator if we have a power outage. POC uses less than fifty watts on 12volts, enough time to get the gas generator going for an extended outage

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gonna be useful for Teaardrop Trailer adventures Finally was able to use the Yeti %00 on a recent trip to the Gulf Coast. 4-nights at Fort Pickens. The temps were typically in the 30's 40's at night. Our cozy teardrop was not cozy enough for my wife, so she broke out her electric blanket that plugs into the cigarette lighter connection. she used it for only an hour or so for 3 nights. That along with our lighting took the battery down to 25% from a full charge. A good improvement from our yeti 200X (which we used to power lights in our pop-up "dining" tent). We look forward to many more trips. We keep both a Boulder 50 and the regular plug for recharging but needed neither on this trip. Negatives: I wish the power button was on the front. Our unit fits into a tight space against a wall and moving it back and forth is difficult in a packed cabinet. Similarly, the 3-pronged plug in the back seem bulky and misplaced. Again I'd prefer it on the front, or perhaps the side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good people, fantastic products GoalZero is the friggin BEST! Over the past few years I have bought several power stations, solar panels (large and small), lights, and smaller powerbanks to use for extended off-grid travel, daily life use, as well as in the case of a power outage and they have always performed superbly. At one point, my little old Yeti 200X (first GoalZero product I bought) crapped out on me; it wouldn't charge properly after almost 2 full years of frequent use. I contacted GoalZero's customer service department and, after politely and efficiently diagnosing the malfunction, they quickly sent me a new replacement Yeti 200X without any hassle whatsoever. A few months ago I splurged on the new Yeti 500 and it is a BEAST of a power station for its size. It really puts my old 200X to shame in terms of power storage and delivery capabilities. I also bought a second Nomad 100 solar panel shortly thereafter. I now have two of those panels. The first one has been through considerable rough use including getting violently yanked into the air by extremely strong winds several times. Because of this (admittedly my fault, unsecured during windy conditions) the triangular plastic piece that secures the cables to the panel busted off and now hangs loosely, but IT STILL WORKS GREAT! While I would love it if GoalZero would be willing to fix that, it's really no biggy. Overall I have been continuously impressed by the quality of GoalZero's products, and the kindness and efficiency of the staff. Great company, stellar products. So unless something changes I'm a GoalZero exclusive man for life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No pure sine wave on this one The problem with the one I purchased was that AC power it produced was not clean. Lights that were plugged into it would constantly flicker. So maybe a bad inverter. But it was my first goal zero power station so that wasn't great. Also, I would take great specs with a grain of salt. The one I purchased used 50 watt hours of the 500 total to charge my cell phone once. So I would get 10 charges max compared to the 35 the advertising suggests. It is a sturdy unit and I wanted to like it because it seemed to more rugged than the power stations I have from another company. The goal zero solar panels work great though. Maybe I just got a lemon Yeti but it will be a minute before I take a chance on another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Women's 500 small power station We had brought 1500 power stations. But I wanted the small 500 power station for charging up lights, phones, and flashlights. It was so easy to understand how it works. It charges up fast. I that will show about charging time and it fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power Plus! We travel full time to remote places all over North American in our 17' camp trailer. Having a GZ Yeti 500 is essential to our existence. We use it to grind coffee, recharge laptops, iPads, cameras and phones, provide additional lighting and to power the fan in our compost toilet. It also powers our cell signal booster and recharges power tool batteries. We recharge our new Yeti with a Boulder 100 panel. Nine years of living off-grid has taught us to invest in the best gear. GZ is the best for reliable solar equipment!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truly portable and powerful Just got back from a family vacation. Everyone else was excited that we were going to be "off-the-grid", but I was very nervous because of medical equipment I need to use. The Yeti 500 made it possible to relax and have my needs met--THANKS

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked for less than 24 hours I am a videographer that uses mobile internet and a switch for live broadcasting and I thought this was a great option. The only functionality issue (easily overcome with a powerstrip) is that the AC inputs are pretty close together so if you have plugs that are the box style they won't fit next to each other. The main reason for my negative review is that the product didn't even last 24 hours before it turned into a brick. I tested it the night I bought it, charged it up and loaded it into my car and when I went to set everything up it wouldn't turn on at all. No LEDs, no screen, no noise, nothing. I tried the reset option per the manual with no luck. Then I took it home and tried to plug the AC charger in and it lit up for a second and that's all she wrote. I'll be returning this and trying another one hoping that it's a fluke but I count on this for work and can't have a product I don't trust.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New LFP Battery sold me I already had a GoalZero 3000 and a bolder briefcase solar panel which have worked great for the last several years. I use them camping and for our famous "Rolling Blackouts," but when I saw the specs on the newer versions with the LPF batteries, same battery in my Tesla, this was a game changer for me. Connection to WIFI was fast and simple and the app is so handy. I like the new display better, I only wish it was at a 45 degree angle like the Pro 4000, which I also bought. So far it runs our Dometic Refrigerator full time with 100 watt solar panel. Flawless performance so far, quick delivery, a GoalZero standard, and I give it five stars. I don't like the flap over the controls, but can live with it.,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It has changed my work life! I have paired this with a Crockpot lunch reheater and changed my work life! Now, I have reliable power (independent of my truck power) that has allowed me to eat hot lunch when out on the road! Its super easy to just grab a can of soup/ ravioli/ chili, last night's leftovers, or previously cooked and frozen pulled pork... throw it in the lunch box... throw it in the reheater about an hour before lunch and BOOM, HOT LUNCH! The 500W has a lot of capacity for how I'm using it and I typically charge it once a week!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything and More! We purchased the Yeti 500 a few months ago and instantly knew it was exactly what we needed. Extended trips camping in a Tacoma requires a power resupply, however a complete solar unit was overkill for our needs and small chargers weren't enough. The Yeti 500 completely fits our needs and goes beyond our expectations. It quickly recharges from a wall outlet and provides us enough power for roughly five days with steady use. The ability charge multiple items at once, while blowing up the kids' air mattress, keeps us constantly ready for whatever may come our way. It's rugged design takes the bumps and bruises with ease. Thank you Goal Zero for an outstanding product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As always, reliable and a workhorse Went on a week long trip over landing and mountain biking. I used the yeti 500 to charge my drone, cameras and bike computer. Used solar to charge it back up. I like the new on off switch in th back of unit and the splash covers. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't work as planned Got the Yeti500 about 4 weeks ago- all the reasons I bought this for has issues, I cannot charge unit on my trucks 120v outlet then I find out that the trucks invertor does not charge unit I wish that would have been on website before I bought this had to get lucky and get someone on the phone to tell me that after they researched - have to use a cig cord 12v to charge. Since I cannot use this in my truck as planned so I am going to try and run a fan in dog trailer but now the issue is trying to get 12v power to the fan- so I have been calling and sitting on hold opting to get call back- so far no call back- I have emailed from website for help no reply- I just want to know how to get power to the 12v fan- do I get a generic cig cord then cut to get the wires to attach to fan?? where do I get a 6mm output? I am sure someone at Goal zero knows these answers- if not then I see no need for having unit

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Power Station! I bought this about a month ago and used it on a cross country trip for my Snowmaster refrigerator. It worked great. I especially love the Bluetooth connection to the Yeti 500 from the phone app. I could check charge levels and turn on/off ports as needed directly from the app.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fantastic device. I've used this a few times now and it works like a dream. I love the comfort I have knowing that, combined with my Nomad 100 solar panel, this Yeti 500 will ensure I never have to worry about a dead phone or laptop no matter where out in the boondocks I travel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Piece of Equipment - First Impression This was purchased as a field power source for a mobile amateur VHF|UHF radio with a maximum 50 watt transmit power. I paired it with a Nomad 100 solar panel. Only had it for a few weeks and used it for one public service event. It worked very well with an Anderson PowerPole adapter in the 12V DC socket. I've also used it at home to run some small appliances. With the solar panels the unit stayed fully charged throughout the public service event. At home, I've charged theYeti 500 with one Nomad 100 solar panel from 65% to 100% in about 3.5 hours - that's only 55-65% efficiency on the Nomad 100 panel (Full Sun). Not great performance by the panel, but good enough for my use case. This review is a first impression based on limited experience -- as the summer go on, we'll use it more and that should give us a better baseline for a review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s not reliable and the warranty is horrible I got this power bank in 2025 as I had great experience with the yeti 500x still have it and it’s going strong . The yeti 500 has been horrible the integrated fast charger for 115 v in the back of the unit gave out months after getting the unit . It has been 3 months of communication with service/support and I still don’t have a replacement unit one person will tell me there sending a replacement unit out and then I get passed around to an other service person get asked all the same questions make me go through all the trouble shooting and videos as the last person. Goal zero support is horrible . The internal charger is faulty and it’s only 6 months old it should be replaced . The point of buying it from goal zero direct it’s to get access to direct service , support and warranty . Long story short goal zero products are good as long as you never have a problem and need service, support or warranty for your unit as they don’t seem to stand behind the products they make at all .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bad Battery, Bad Customer Support My Yeti 500 just stopped inputting power 2 months after the 2 year warranty ended. Goal Zero would not replace it, since it is 2 months shy of the warranty, or repair it in a timely manner - they said a repair would take weeks. I will not purchase from this company again and strongly advise against buying this product. It is not built to last - mine was kept in good conditions without much wear and tear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't charge in the vehicle AND red flag! I purchased the Yeti 500 without their proprietary auxilliary car charger, on the natural assumption that I could use any 3rd-party car charger (the product description doesn't explicity say that their auxilliary car charger is a requirement for charging the product from a vehicle). However, the Yeti 500 DOES NOT accept a charge via the auxilliary charging port (in either of our vehicle's 2 ports) nor does it accept a charge in the vehicles's AC port. Kinda defeats the purpose of taking the thing on the road, esp off road! Also, I live in Canada and for some reason the CDN Goal Zero site is out of commission so I can't order their charging cable now anyway! Interesting side note: I recently ran into another camper who, like me was taking his Goal Zero Yeti 500 into the campground washroom to charge it. We BOTH commiserated that this was the only way to use it on a camping trip - to take it somewhere with a wall AC outlet. Additionally, the unit doesn't power our portable fridge for more than 8 hours! Can't charge it in the vehicle AND it doesn't hold a charge! The review guidelines state, "Avoid writing about customer service, contact us instead if you have issues requiring immediate attention." Well, I've submitted TWO support tickets, with the emphasis on needing the yeti 500 for an upcoming off road trip and the unit clearly needs servicing prior to that. However, that was 3 1/2 weeks ago. And my only non-response has been crickets (apart from the initial canned response of, "We're sorry to hear that your having trouble..." I dropped a lot of macaroni on this paperweight, with the expectation that it would work and/or be serviced! I DO NOT recommend this product, nor do I have anything good to say about the customer service. I don't care if the company is undergoing internal upgrades (that deadline has passed and tickets should be acknowledged), there's a basic expectation that you service your product and address customer issues. Knowing that I'm not the only one with this very same problem should raise some flags for anyone reading these reviews. ** Purchase at your own risk! **
