Good updates
I am happy with the watch overall, the activities are easier to use and the sleep coach has been very helpful. It is not as easy to charge as the 4, but I am getting the hang of it. It often dropped from my Bluetooth and has twice put out an emergency notice, but these were easy fixes.

Much to offer
This is my first watch used to track fitness. I saw a friend and asked her about hers and decided to get the Vivioactive 5. I am imprpressed with the features and how easy it is to operate. I use it for high intensity interval training, yoga, walking and have tried to use it for kayaking. I did not see that as an activity and have substituted Rowing instead. I would love to see kayak as an activity!
I like the feature that allows you to monitor your heart rate while doing an activity.

I previously had Fit Bits....I use the plural because they would not last more than a year without issues and no company support. I received this for Christmas and am already loving it as it is reminding this 69 year-old obese woman move.

I love the COLOR!
I had the Instinct Camo before this and got tired of the plain gray/black/white. Besides the colors, I like the swipe feature for viewing steps etc, the timer, and the wide variety of watch faces I find right on the watch.

Very happy with the vivoactive 5!
I love my vivoactive 5 so far. I previously had the Forerunner 245 and I love it too, but you can't beat the AMOLED display for its vivid colors and easy readability. I also wanted the open water swim feature, and I'm looking forward to trying it out this spring/summer. The vivoactive 5 is a great multipurpose watch at an excellent price point.

Like the watch, but was disappointed that it doesn't have an altimeter - Got this as a replacement for my vivoactive 4, via the tech hotline. Knowing what I know now, would have probably gone one more level up.

Some Feedback
Where is the serial number?
After I'm done running and press the A button to stop and save my data, it doesn't recognize that I pressed the button. How do I fix it?
Also, it takes a long time to get the GPS signal. My very old Vivo watch was much faster. How do I fix it?

Great features , easy to set up.
So i have been using the Vivoactie 5 for about 2 weeks now and i love it !! I replaced the Venu 2 square. Wow this watch does everything great. I am really enjoying the sleep coach and getting a good idea of how i sleep. I am still learning the HRV and what it does but i really like it to. The battery life is Really good also. The screen is so sharp and clear WOW!! My only complaint is the reminder to move. I love it because it let`s me know when i have been sitting to long. But i really wish Garmin would do an update and let me pick the hours that it reminds me. Because when i am trying to rest and recharge my body battery it tells me i need to get up and be active, but it is also telling me to rest. Please change this. Maybe set it like a reminder to move goal , when you hit the hours you pick you get fireworks.

Golf, Cycling, Yoga so far; happy with my purchase
I've had the watch for a couple weeks now. I've used it for Golf, Cycling, and Yoga so far. It works great. For golf, it automatically shows the distance to the green (front, middle, back); just what I want. And it can show the distance to hazards after a few clicks. After a round, you can see on a map exactly where each shot went. That's cool, but I don't expect it will help my game.
For everyday use, I was able to select an alternate watch face to show time/date, heart rate, steps, and active minutes for the week. Again, this is what I'm interested in.
It takes the watch 3 weeks before it can determine a baseline for heartrate variability, so I haven't seen the fullness of that feature yet, but I do like seeing the graph of nightly HRV on the connect app. Chis watch is a definite step up from my previous fitness tracker.

If you’re hesitant, know it’s worth every penny!
I just started my running journey in March while using the VivoFit4 and quickly realized I needed something with GPS and the ability to track my heart rate as my Fit4 wasn’t truly meant for runs, just tracking basic activity (it had served its purpose well).
Knowing I wanted to stick with Garmin as i’ve tried several competitors with zero luck, I bit the bullet and purchased the VivoSmart5. It has successfully helped me through my first 10k with its training features! I love that it notifies me of my heart rate, my stress, even tells me when i’ve reached each mile and my pace for it.
While i’m no mega-athlete, this watch makes me feel like one! I’ll be a Garmin Girl for life!!

I've been using the Garmin vivoactive 5 for two weeks now, and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. Previously, I wore an Apple Watch for eight years, going through three different models, and I was always satisfied with the Apple Watch. However, the Garmin better suits my lifestyle and caters more to my needs as a runner. The Garmin watch is incredibly accurate in every aspect; if it says you ran a mile, you can trust that you really did run a mile.

Just What I Needed
I had been a longtime Fitbit user but was ready for an upgrade. I’d read about Garmin for some time and I’m glad I made the switch. There’s way more features and it gives me great insights. The only thing is that I’m use to having an average resting heart rate after every night of sleep, this watch only gives 7 week averages which doesn’t help me. I’m still trying to figure out how to get a general RHR per day as it is important for my heart monitoring.

Great feature with negative feedback
I am a new user to Garmin and I have had my watch for 6 days now. So far I am enjoy the watch with one complaint. I do not enjoy the negative feedback first thing in the morning or at the end of my day. Being told that I did not sleep well and I might be irritable is not a great way to wake up. It would be better if the watch said "it looks like you didn't sleep well. You can still rock today!" I have contacted the company already and was told to just turn off the notices. There should be a different option programmed in. Also, I am receiving notices that I am "stressed" when I am not stressed at all. I am very confused about how this is recorded.

The best!
I think this is my 4th Garmin and I love this one the best. They continue to refine the coaching helps, the brightness of the display is second to none (which I am thankful for as I get older), it’s the lightest one I’ve had so I don’t mind wearing it while I sleep so I can track sleep trends and it’s not as expensive as some of the other models. I use it primarily for running, golf and walking.

Great smartwatch and training aid
I got tired of my Samsung smart watch needing to be charged every day, and sometimes not lasting through the day. I loved being able to track my rides and walks, sleep et cetera, but always in fear of the battery giving out. So I looked to Garmin. I haven't quite gotten the 11 days battery, that is really just in smart phone mode. But I do get multiple days with this one, I've used it for sleep tracking, heart rate when I've forgotten my chest strap, music, et cetera. Some of those things drain the battery faster, but it still holds up much better than my Samsung. It is not as bilgy as the Samsung, but it is a nice looking sporty watch. The band is super comfortable, the watch is really lite. It has a lot of features, and it took some getting used to, as the setup is different from the previous watches I had.

Heart rate zones and ridiculous & can’t be changed
I bought this a few weeks ago as a second device and noticed my HR Zones were not making any sense as I logged a workout.
I went into the custom settings and tried to change them, but they keep reverting to random numbers that they want to be. I cannot change them to match my old device.
That makes the Vivoactive useless to me.
I contacted customer support and sent them a video of what is happening on May 21, 2 weeks ago. No one has bothered to follow up with me.
I’m ready to return it, as it serves no purpose to me.

Connect/Disconnect
I've had various Garmin watches. I love the look and features of this watch but with the phone (Samsung A12) close by, it will disconnect from Garmin Connect. My phone will be on the nightstand as I sleep, it disconnects. I have to restart my phone each time. I sent the 1st watch back to Garmin after support team could not figure it out. When the 2nd watch arrived, I had issue pairing it. We need to uninstall/reinstall Garmin Connect.
Needed Garmin support again. Still had issues. I had to send a report to my support person. I uninstalled/reinstalled again on my own. For a few days, everything was working as intended but...once again more connect/disconnect then restart phone. It nice to get an actual person to talk with but the issues keep arising. I'm not sure the next step to take. Send this one back and look at another Garmin or go with another company. As I said, I like having a fitness watch but this has been going on since December (Christmas present) and I'm not satisfied.

Great but with a FATAL Flaw that MUST be Fixed
I've had a vivoactive 4 for ~4years and love it
I recently decided to upgrade to the 5 about 2 weeks ago. I wish the size was bigger, like the 4, but I've gotten used to it. The graphics are outstanding and I enjoy many of the other new functions. However, there is a SETIOUS, FATAL flaw. The "Naps" function is GARBAGE. Any time I sit still to work, or rwad or watch TV it registers a nap. I cannot even sit to watch a 30 minute show unless I constantly wave my arm around. There is no way to delete these "naps" and you can't disable it without disabling all of the sleep functionality. I am considering returning the watch if this cannot be fixed.

Easy to view watch face
I own 2 other Garmin watches, but purchased the vivoactive because as an older active person I could not read the data on the watch face easily due to poor contrast (for my eyesight). This watch has great features and is easy to read with the data contrast on the face. I wish it would go longer than 4 days between charges, but I love the watch!

Great watch in category value to the money
I wear the watch for almost a month.
I really like the user interface. It is easy to navigate and customizable enough.
Display has vivid colours and it is easily readable during the day.
I was considering this watch and more expensive Venu 3. Venu is according to my taste better lookin, features are very similar, but price is almost double.
I bought this watch beause I did not want a bigger watch on my wrist.
This watch is very light weight. I appreciate that over some heavier smart watch.
I have no intention to make phone calls from a watch, but I already experienced several times around the house and in cold outside. Someone is calling, you look at the watch anyway and it would be just so seamless to pick up a quick phone call (which you could do on Venu 3).
Overall it is a great watch and I think it scores very high in performance for the money you paid for it.

Garmin takes the lead--great watch, battery life
My first smart watch was a Garmin 10 years ago and then I went to the competitor that I thought had more advanced features. Not so any more! I'm very happy with this Garmin Vivoactive 5--the steps, sleep score, heart beat, and all the other data that syncs with my phone via Garmin connect really beats the competition. While the other big names were resting on their perceived reputation, Garmin was out researching and out developing the competitors.. Eleven day battery support--and to think, one of Garmin's competitors is bragging about 22 hours. I've had this watch for a couple of weeks and still learning additional features but I highly recommend it..

Complicated
Received this as a birthday gift and upgrade from my vivoactive 4, which I had for about 2 years. Seems to offer some upgraded features but has so far been difficult to use them. Even after reading manuals and spending hours tinkering…hard to change the watch face, hard to access music, ect…I miss my old watch. This watch does have a better feel on my wrist. It was a gift, so I will keep it. If I bought it myself, I would have returned it.

I recently had to replace my Vivoactive 3, and decided on the Vivoactive 5. It has so many added features that my forner watch did not have that are very useful. I am though a bit put off that an update has removed a battery setting that I loved. Hopefully it will be replaced in the near future!

I recently upgraded from Vivo 3 to Vivo 5. It has all my workout features that I need and easy to navigate. My favoite features though are the clear images for emails and my custom watchface - images not grainy. Also, I love that I can customize my quick replys instead of being limited to 4-5 choices. Love the smaller size too. I would definitely recommend.

Nice watch - doesn't track stairs
I bot this watch to replace my 2year old venu that died. Really hard to see the full set of features online to compare all the garmin watches. When I received it, I configured it & could not find the stairs activity. After some googling - it's not a feature of the vicoactive :-(. I returned it and bought a new venu. I mostly track steps and stairs. Also running, biking and hiking. Venu is the model for me. Please make it easier for your customers to see all features of all models online. Venu 3 has longest battery life, so I picked that model. Don't really care about music, emails or notifications.

A great upgrade from my Vivoactive 3
I have had my watch for a week and am highly impressed. The watch is very lightweight and feels very comfortable on my tiny wrist. The graphics are amazing and easy to read. I did an indoor marathon and my previous watch did not accurately measure the laps but this one did! I love the new features compared to the old one. I am still getting used to the functions as it does work slightly different but this is an improvement as the Vivoactive 3 sometimes did weird things at night due to the touchscreen feature. I originally charged the watch to full power and it seriously will last a week which will be great for weekend trips. I haven't explored any additional features such as triathlons on it but I am sure with the activity readings I won't be disappointed. Thank you Garmin!

More features than I expected
I have had my watch for only a day but I am already so impressed with the amount of additional features this watch offers. I had Samsung Galaxy watches previously and they pale in comparison. The battery life is unmatched, the accessibility, information. I have never seen a watch track your respiration but this does and so much more. Safe to say I will not get another brand other than Garmin again.

Mostly Pluses with a few Minuses
There are a lot of good features on the Vivoactive 5, including the night mode with less activity that can disturb sleep, and the longer battery life. The big disappointment I have is it doesn't seem to track floors, which previous vivoactives do. I had switched from my Venu Squared back to the Vivoactive, hoping to regain that feature, as I wanted to do the step climbing challenges. My search engine had indicated the feature was on this watch, but it doesn't appear to be the case. Other than that, it seems to track my other activities, like swimming, walking, and biking very well. I also like how it talks through my phone when I hit lap milestones with my walks.

I really like this upgrade from the vivoactive 3 and well worth the cost. The sensors work a lot better and all the colors make it easier to read. The perfect watch for me
I got this watch a few weeks ago and have really enjoyed the features on it, there are a lot that I haven't used yet that I'm looking forward to using. The only complaint I have is that the second week I had it it randomly turned off and I couldn't get it back on for awhile. I looked online and a lot of people were stating they had this same issue with this model even though it was new for them. I haven't had it happen again so far and I hoping it doesn't happen again but it's definitely a bug. I love it otherwise, it's a great size for my wrist and has all the features of a smartwatch you could want but has a nice simple look so it's not bulky and I feel like it looks good to wear any time/occasion.

I absolutely love this watch! I started looking at Garmin after my apple watch died after 4 years. I was hesitant to make the switch but I'm so glad I did! This watch is extremely lightweight, user friendly and I love the round face vs square.
My absolutely FAVORITE thing about this watch is the battery life. I've had it for 1 month and have only charged it 2x. I use it to track walking workouts mostly and recently just started doing the 5K training program.

Disappointed
I have owned a Vivoactive 3 for over 3 years and LOVE IT! I bought the Vivoactive 5 planning on loving it as well but I do not. My biggest complaint is Garmin removed the altimeter- I no longer have this data for my running training and I no longer can participate in the hiking challenges. Shame on me, I should’ve paid closer attention to the removal of this feature but I never thought it would have been removed. This is more of a minor preference but I do not like the band- it feels more plastic and cheaply made than my previous band.

Best fitness watch ever.
I started with another watch to track my weight loss journey and began to run/ walk 5K's and I needed accuracy of my miles. The watch I had never gave me the correct miles. I joined a running group and asked what watch would be best for my 5K training and everyone said Garmin. I began my research and found the Vivoactive 5. I must say I love everything about this watch from the body battery to the naps. I have never had a fitness watch that was like a buddy. Vivoactive 5 is a must have and I will be using Garmin for the rest of my life.

Nice... but glitchy > needs some software updates
I only had the watch for 2-3 days... but already experienced some random reboots/restarts while browsing the body battery graph... and I also got 2 ugly "bricked device" kind of experiences. The watch doesn't turn on on gesture or button, screen is black and it needs recharging via cable or hard reset to get back to life... and unfortunately loses all graph data for body battery, stress, heart rate... The solution at the moment might be the auto-lock function. Somehow the watch activates to easily... Why is not a double tap feature and it only requires a 1tap to wake up ? Hopefully this could be solved via a software update. This is such a nice watch... Thanks!

I have had the watch about a month so still trying to figure out all it is capable of. Love the look, it announced my mileage and pace every mile, screen easy to read and so much more. The one thing that I have noticed that is diff is that it deletes your run with no "are you sure you want to delete" so you need to be careful as the screen is touch and super sensitive. Multifunctioning watch
I bought my Vivoactive 5 a few weeks ago. I've worn a watch my entire life, but not a "smartwatch". I've had GPS watches that I bought for exercising, but never used them as a day to day watch. I'm enjoying my purchase.
The main reason I bought the watch was for running. The ability to download music and listen without carrying my phone combine with Garmin's top of the line GPS were important in my decision. I also realized this might replace my Garmin S42 golf watch.
I've enjoyed the ease of changing watch face designs via the IQ app. I still haven't gone for a run or played golf with the new watch, but will explore both this week.
So far, a versatile, economical watch with a lot of potential. I'm happy with my purchase.

Great all around fitness watch
The vivoactive 5 is lightweight and comfortable. It compliments my triathlete training along with my Garmin Edge. It has a variety of fitness activities and it is very customizable. No issues wearing it while sleeping. I've gone 5 full days of training and had ~10% battery life. There isn't an (other ecosystems) voice assistant, get the Venu 2 or 2S for that, but not an issue for me.

VivoActive5 different than VivoActive4
I have worn a Garmin VivoActive4 fitness watch for several years. It has been far superior than the other brand fitness watches I wore previously. I just recently purchased a Garmin VivoActive5 fitness watch mainly because the VivoActive4 battery was losing charge over time. Overall features of the VivoActive5 are improved including the OLED display, additional health trackers and supposedly an improved Garmin Elevate heart rate sensor and sensor technology. But the difference in heart rate readings and data between my VivoActive4 and new VivoActive5 are very different. Cardio Activities that are in my target heart rate zone ranges on my VivoActive4 watch are much lower on the VivoActive5 doing the exact same Cario workouts. I have no explanation for this other than maybe the heart rate sensors in the VivoActive5 are more sensitive. But very concerning that I am now not achieving my fitness goals. Only the fitness watch has changed. Sleep data is also different. And, charge life of the VivoActive5 is limited if all functions are on (Pulse Ox level readings, notifications, etc.).

This is my 5th Garmin watch and all was well until this weekend when a bug in the software (not sure if it's the watch or the Garmin Connect App) meant the only way I could get back in action was too completely wipe all my data. Nice features
Works well for my needs (60 year old, biking and hiking mostly). Informative features like sleep tracking and heart rate. I like that I can edit the activities and apps that I use the most. The battery doesn’t last as long as I was expecting, but it’s still good. I bought some replacement bands because I don’t like the silicone; switching them out is easy. The mileage tracking seems pretty accurate when I compare it to other tracking apps or known distances. I like that I was able to connect my Spotify account so I could listen to music. The Garmin Connect app is really nice. I’m pleased with my purchase

A bit disappointing
First the good stuff: The improved display is terrific--much easier to read in sunlight, and there are some fun features like animated displays. The bad stuff: I thought this was an upgrade from my old Vivo 4, but it has no altimeter function, so stair step counts are no longer available, which I really miss. The other thing is that, on my watch anyway, the "Always On" function is intermittent; sometimes it works as it should (display always on but dimmed, then brightens and animates when you tip your wrist toward you to check the time), and other times the display is off until I actually press the touch screen. This is annoying; one shouldn't need two hands to check the time. I contacted Garmin tech support about this, and they had me jump through a bunch of hoops--including posting a video of me proving I had actually selected "Always On"--and now weeks have gone by, and after repeated contact I've heard nothing back. This is my third Garmin watch and my first disappointing experience.

Absolutely love the watch. I am not too fond of the apps. The watch is comfy durable and a great choice for a first time smart watch owner. Can’t wait to dive further into it. 5 stars on the watch all around. Battery life is amazing. Being able to cancel calls incoming at my wrist … LOVE.

Love this smartwatch
I am a die hard Apple product person. Full stop. I had an Apple Watch and it was…fine. This garmin? AMAAAAAZING. I absolutely love the fact that I am not having to charge it every day. I love that it tracks my health stuff and still gives me my text previews. My favorite feature though is that I can use a regular quick release watch band vs having to buy a special one if I ever want to change it up.

Lots of features for the price
I bought the Vivoactive 5 several weeks ago. I was replacing my Legacy Series Rey (I wish they had not discontinued the Star Wars themed watches.), which was losing battery pretty quickly. I love the new screen on this and all of the colors. I can see it inside and outside in the sun just fine. I also love that they added open water swimming to it. I pool swim, but in the summer train outside as well for open water swims. This was a nice addition. There are a ton of workout options to choose from and I really like the lighter weight of the watch. I also like the low battery sleep mode it changes to when sleeping. The wrist movement doesn't turn the watch face on and wake me up, and it replaces the watch face with a screen I can see without my glasses and is very low light. I also like the morning report and the sleep coach features. I don't know if it tracks sleep 100% but when I have had some restless nights, it seems to know it. It also has two font sizes (I chose the larger font) that make it easier for me to read a notification if I don't have my glasses on. I have an iPhone so unfortunately I can't use the text respond feature, but that isn't Garmin's fault. The wrist wakeup is a little laggy at times, but works most of the time. The only thing it is missing is an altimeter, which was on the Vivoactive Rey (4s). I can live with that feature not being there, as there are so many other great features for a really good price. I would say that for what you get, this is a great smart watch for the $299 price. I can't wait to try it out on my bike and doing some hiking and long walks as well.

Instructional Issues
I received the Vivoactive5 as a gift. Charging the phone was easy. Getting music downloaded on the phone was a challenge but got all my songs loaded. Downloading the watch face I liked proved challenging also. The watch face disappears around 11 pm and I can not get it back until after 6 am. There is no instructions on how to get it to stay on 24/7. The written instructions are not easy to follow and some instructions do not work at all.

Garmin Vivoactive 5
Garmin Vivoactive 5 has improved functions - main face with all the information is great. I like the sleep score and information on how to improve it. However, the strength choice on Vivoactive 3 was better than the 5 model. Vivoactive 3 sensed the movements that you were doing in your workout and registered those. Vivoactive 5 does not sense the movements that you are doing. I wrote them in. It also doesn't sense when you are active in weight training, so it says you've done one set, when you've done 12 sets. I wish that the strength portion stayed as good as the Vivoactive 3 model. The 5 model has made other improvements, though.

Beautiful display and love features
I really love this watch--it's ease of use and features. The array of displays are amazing! I thought that the battery life was longer, however. I was told it would last 8 days, but I'm only seeing it's lasting 4-5 days. That is disappointing.

Replaced a "4." Love the new screen, all the info bites, e.g., the morning wake-up. Find some challenges in navigating the "wake-up" utility, but assume that I'll become more proficient with time. I miss the indoor stair counter, but it was pretty unreliable.

The general features are better than its predecessor however the overall construct is a bit inferior. I do like the sleep features and the general fitness insights, they are a bit improvement over the 4 version. Would like more guidance on how to make the battery last as long as advertised as well.

My son got me this to help me train and it’s very confusing to me on how to access the statistics that I want to see. Mine goes straight to activities and then you spend a lot of time navigating that it is also very hard for me to get used to the plastic band because it holds water under it.

It doesn’t seem as though my watch is calculating correctly. In one instance my watch said my “body battery” was 90%, just two hours later on my day off, it says -1%. Also even though I turned off multiple notifications from my phone, I am still getting notifications on my watch. Great features just not sure they are working correctly.

So much better than Fitbit!
I am thrilled with my new Garmon Vivoactive 5 and the Garmon Connect app. I find the sleep and nap tracking and heart rate very accurate. I bought this to replace my Fitbit after getting so frustrated with the update to the Fitbit app in late 2023 that I gave up. The Garmon Connect app is light years beyond what the Fitbit app ever was even before its horrible update. And the Garmon Connect app is free! I love that I can zoom in on the heart rate graph, and after I workout I can go into my workout on the Connect app and see my heart rate for the duration of my workout (simple things that Fitbit can't do even though they have this data).

Nice watch
I bought this to replace the dark purple Lily. It fell off my wrist and they don't make the dark purple anymore. I like Garmin and the closest in purple was the Vivoactive 5. This has a larger face. Seems to be more reactive in response and has way more features than the Lily, more than I will ever use. During the 1st week of use, I looked down and plastic part of the edge of the watch band was gone. Thank goodness the prong held it in place. I would have been upset to lose another. I do not run; I have a desk job so I'm not sure why this has happened on both watches to begin with. I called Garmin, they sent me a new band. If I lost this one, I will not buy a Garmin again. Overall, very nice watch. I am pleased so far.

not perfect, but good enough
I like the Vivoactive 5 for the data that it provides. It's comfortable to sleep with, but it did once wake me up when I had my hand near my face and the display turned on. The morning report is nice, but it doesn't always work. Occasionally I wish to check the time and it won't turn on by turning my wrist. Other times I'll touch the display to check the time and it will pop into a different screen rather than the time. That's a little frustrating. I am usually a watch wearer and I was hoping I wouldn't miss wearing one. So far I miss it very much. I do like all the fitness data that it gathers and provides. It provides a very good view of how I'm doing. The GPS picture of my routes are kind of fun, and it gives me confidence that the distance readings are fairly accurate. I like that I was able to customize the watch face. I went from wearing a fitbit to this Garmin Vivoactive 5 and this is definitely a step up.

Excellent Watch With A Major Flaw
The watch has some fantastic features for all sorts of activities and does a great job of tracking your progress. I like that I can simply add my music to it and carry it along for those long runs. Battery life is very good, as well.
However, the watch has one major flaw. When I select an activity while listening to music, the watch will immediately disconnect all Bluetooth devices (e.g., phone, headphones, etc.) as it tries to geolocate using GPS. Changing the setting from "All Systems" to "GPS Only" works sometimes but I have still encountered the issue. Reconnecting to Bluetooth devices takes a few minutes, which is tedious and annoying.

Mostly unimpressed
The two control buttons are not very cooperative and lack a positive action when I attempt to control the watch. I'm likely to ask for my money back because it's so difficult to use. I have a Vivoactive 3 and have loved it. I thought that the snappy color screen would be cool on the 5. Yeah, it is cool, but navigating around various functions isn't intuitive at all and two weeks into owning it, I'm pretty well done with the frustration.

Great watch for the Heartless
I've had the watch for a few weeks now and mostly love it. I've upgraded from the vivoactive3 which I loved, but started acting up on me. My biggest and only issue with it so far is that it tracks my heartbeat less than half the time. I was excited to try the new sleep functions but it's useless if it doesn't track your HR. i've tried different bands, tightening the band, loosening the band, shaving the hair on my wrist. Nothing seems to keep it consistent. Body battery and sleep tracking are useless. I've considered going back to my VA3 site to the frustrations.

love this watch but the screen locks up frequently
I absolutely love this watch, I would give it 5 stars but the screen locks up frequently. I had one prior and it was doing it so we sent it back and I got a new one on the 9th. It locked up 3x in the first 24 hrs. It has done it 3 more times since. Once for well over an hour. The watch still counts steps while it's locked up but vibrates a lot so I have no clue what it is doing. It once sent out the emergency alert while locked up and I couldn't shut it off. Other than this I love the watch. I wish it had a hike function. I love the stats it gives me after a run and how it breaks them down. I love the night time mode.

I bought this 3 weeks ago to replace a Fitbit Charge 5. This watch does a much better job of finding the correct time as I am a frequent flyer and the sync function to my phone is much better than Fitbit. But it has so many features and the touch screen is super sensitive, I am having difficulty getting the functions I want displayed and editing them. I am also not an audio visual learner so all the videos are not that helpful.

This was an upgrade from my Vivoactive 3 which still works but was getting buggy. There are things I like about the new watch and things that I wish worked better.
Pros: the metal cup for the strap release bar is gone, love sleep mode, charger plug is less loose, gives body battery and better sleep analysis.
Annoyances: doesn't count my stairs when I go up and down the staircases at home, reminds me my sleep is non-restorative and my body battery is low, no always on with no backlight function

I got this for Christmas and for the most part I love it. It’s a great watch! I love that it tracks my sleep and my steps which were the main things I wanted. I do wish it had some other features for a stay at home parent though like stroller walks lol. I walk the same route a couple times a day, sometimes with a stroller and sometimes without. When I’m not pushing the stroller I get a ton more steps in vs when I push the stroller. Im assuming because my arm isn’t swinging but I have the walk option selected on my watch.

On top of my game with the Garmin VivoActive 5
The Garmin VivoActive 5 is a great tool to know where my body is at physically. I can see my heart rate, body battery (very cool), and even my stress level at a glance. This provides feedback so I can modify my activities, or better yet, get more active, as needed. I enjoy the sleep score and knowing how I slept. Activities are easy to track and there are many default activities to choose from. This is a nice looking, easy to wear, smartwatch. I really like it.

One of the Best
After extensive research my wife and I purchased the Garmin Vivoactive 5. It's now been a of couple months wearing them 24/7 and we are extremely pleased! The watch is a precision instrument that reliably measures so many body metrics as well as fun things like the weather, emails and text messages, that you can also respond to. The brilliant display is absolutely beautiful and battery life is stellar. We charge once a week on Sunday mornings and there is always 30% or more charge left so the manufacturer's claim of up to 11 days is pretty close. The GPS feature will drain the battery quicker, but that is only used on specific settings where distance and a tracking map is desired. We chose the Vivoactive 5 over the Garmin Venue 3 because it is thinner, lighter, and smaller, the soft band makes wearing it effortless. We did not need the microphone, speaker, and EKG feature on the Venue, also the heart rate sensor on the vivoactive 5, although not as elaborate as the Venue, is still state of the art and functions flawlessly. We are 100% glad we chose the vivoactive 5 over everything else we looked at. The health benefits of having this watch have been substantial for us. Being able to actually look at graphs and charts of sleep patterns, hydration, heart rate, stress, etc etc have given us great insight into adjusting our daily life. We really appreciate the technology, ease of use and the quality built-in by Garmin.

I love my vivoactive. I got it to really capture my calories burned while at work and to keep better track of my workouts. It’s easy to use and navigate. The Spotify app always works. I love that you can also personalize the watch face. I’m so glad I made the switch from the Apple Watch.

Vivoactive 5 - LOVE IT!
I have wanted a Garmin Smartwatch for so long but was put off by the size and bulkiness. Well, Garmin has tackled that and beautifully. My vivoactive 5 is a wonderful companion to my healthy, active lifestlye. Even at age 68, I still work out 6 days a week. My vivo keeps accurate track of my activities, sleep, and Intensity Minutes. For the first few days, I wore it along with my FitBit but soon realized all these years how much Fitbit was cheating me out of steps and activity. It's just not as accurate. I have now tested the vivo against three hotel tradmills, and it is dead on accurate each time. I love that it displays my activity on the main screen and that I can check my sleep score and quality without going to the app.

Love it!
It took a little getting used to but all in all I like it. I like that it keeps better track of my sleep and my steps. It's nice to be able to go swimming with it and it also tracks my movement there. The only thing I can't figure out is how to get my steps information to transfer accurately to my iphone, the step count never matches.

Looks Great! Light & Accurate
Definitely was hesitant to switch from an (old) apple watch to garmin, but man, I'm so glad I did! The garmin is a classic. It's light weight, much more accurate and does everything I need it to do. The first time I ran in it, I thought, why did I have an apple for so long? I immediately noticed how light it was, did not bother me while I ran, and how accurate it was compared to the Apple Watch. It functions just like an Apple Watch, with notifications, sleep, etc. It's great and I definitely like the look much more (circle vs. square). Cost efficient and connects well with devices!

Lots of useful features at a great price
I’m not a runner or a hiker. I don’t do triathlons, and I don’t do marathons, I do a lot of daily walks, and I train with free and machine weights at a gym. I also train on a treadmill, stair master, and a spin bike. My Vivoactive 5 is perfect for my fitness needs. It replaced my vivoactive 3 and I love the battery life on the Vivoactive 5. It’s light weight and is comfortable to sleep with to track my sleep. I find it easy to use.

Great
I bought my Vivoactive 5 a little over a month ago as motivation to start running again. I once owned a Vivoactive 3, but I grew tired of wearing a smart watch and went without one for several years. I must say the great features (golf, coaching, and general lifestyle tracking) have been a huge positive in my life. The watch is a lot lighter than my previous model, which makes an all day wear effortless. My next steps (pun intended) are to achieve my new weight and fitness goals!

Awesome watch
I’ve had this for a few weeks now, an upgrade from my forerunner 245 and I’m really pleased with it so far! The GPS picks up very quickly, love a lot of the features and the touchscreen. The only issue I have is on the watch face it doesn’t display how many miles I’ve ran during the week. I miss that about my forerunner. Maybe there’s a way and I haven’t seen it?

Garmin 4 Life
I looked at every possible smart watch I could and I narrowed it down to Garmin. I did feel a little overwhelmed with all the different options. I know you want to hit a larger market, but I think you could really benefit from lowering the number of models you offer. It makes it a little confusing. Especially, for new garmin users. I do love the vívoactive 5, but I wish the whole face was metal, instead of plastic. I get the appeal of it being more light weight though. I absolutely love the battery life. Love all the features. I wish that it was a little easier to use the weight training feature. It works fairly well with my iPhone. I have type 2 and the Dexcom feature is cool. It doesn’t work sometimes, but I think once the bugs are worked out it will only get better. Overall, I love this watch. 10/10 will buy Garmin again.

Great battery life
I have had my watch for about 2 weeks. So far I love it. I like how it gives a great breakdown of my sleep pattern. It is pretty easy to use. There are other little things like asking me in the morning if I am ready to be up (awake) then assist me sleeping, I also like o. The screen before I actually get up it shows me what the weather is doing, like snowing, raining, sunshine…it has been fun so far!

Great Fitness Tracker
I really like the Garmin vivoactive 5's touch screen round design and vibrant colors. Changing the watch band is very easy. The sleep tracker is so easy to use! The heart rate measurements capabilities are well thought out.
The battery lasts many times longer than my previous (other brand) smartwatch thus alleviating the stress of remembering to charge the watch. The charging time is minimal.
The Garmin watch synchronizes nicely with Cronometer which I use for my food diary.
I’m an IT person so I'm enjoying using the Garmin Express and Garmin Connect apps. They provide plenty of stats / graphical information thus allowing me to fine tune my health goals. I’ve only had this smartwatch a short time and I’m looking forward to learning more about it.

How does a Garmin watch not have "Hike" activity?!
Extremely disappointed to learn this watch doesn't have the "Hike" activity - but has a bunch of other random activities like archery, disc golf, etc. For Garmin it should be a given that you have the "hike" activity. Furthermore - disappointing how much research it took to figure out why this is the case (because it doesn't have an "altimeter" in it) - which my partner found in other online threads versus Garmin's website.

Disappointing
Coming from a VivoActive 3, the 5 tends to disappoint. The battery does not seem comparable. I get about the same battery life on my new 5 as I got on my 5 year old 3. To maintain a second hand on the screen at all times is now not possible with the face I like (it wasn't a problem or a battery drain on the 3). The updated menus seem to take longer to get to and get through. The physical markers around the watch face are now at 10 second intervals instead of 5. The lighting at night is not intuitive. The brightness apparently isn't capable of going to lowest brightness when on Auto. Sometimes it detects sleep and goes into sleep mode (turning the watch face off which then requires touch to see the watch vs just motion on the 3. Sometimes it doesn't detect sleep, so the watch face stays on.
I understand these things are small and nitpicky, but they are quality of life features I really came to love on my 3. I am considering returning the 5 and going back to the 3 with hopes of the battery lasting a few more years.

Nice watch, good features
I got this watch as a replacement for my 4S that broke. This newer version has more features and a better interface (I think). However, things I don't like are the top button is hard to push sometimes to get the menu to come up and it's glitchy every once in a while for no reason. I couldn't sleep with my 4S because of the bright blinking sensor lights, but with the new 5 the sensor lights on the bottom are hardly noticeable. Overall I do like it.

The watch is great and an improvement over the Vivoactive 4s. The main improvement, so far, is that the charger easily attaches and stays attached. Just bought mine and I think the fitness capabilities are so cool! That said it is way too hard to download music, and the user interface is very difficult. You have to download the garmin app, then a seperate garmin app, to enjoy the capabilities. No reason they need two seperate apps. I’d give this a 3/5 but it is so cute 4/5.

Inaccurate Sleep Reading
I’ve been using this watch for about a month and it’s still not properly tracking my sleep. I figured it wasn't accurate because I just started using it and it needed time to acclimate to my body but here we are a month later and it’s still inaccurate by a long shot. I was in bed reading for two hours and chatting here and there with my partner. I wake up this morning to check my sleep score and it recorded those two hours as deep sleep and gave me a high score for great sleep when in reality, I didn’t get a minute of deep sleep and am exhausted today since I slept so poorly. It makes me wonder which other features are wrong that can’t be so easily measured. I’ll be returning.

Tons of data
Bought this instead of Apple simply because of battery life. It has exceeded my expectations and love the many, many detailed facts received daily/ The only problem was the start up piece of paper sucked, no words just three pictures. Had to go online to find a manual. One error I made was downloading the Connect app before I received the watch and it just would not sync via bluetooth with my Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max. Removed the app, reinstalled and it immediately synced withe phone. Have it about a month now and only have had to charge it three times. Definitely recommend this watc, have had a FitBit Charge, a Spade and Co. Charge 3 and this is way better and accurate.

I was given this watch as a gift. I enjoy the longer battery life! Being a lightweight watch is a plus. There are still many features I have not figured out because they take three or four steps to open...this is "hard" to learn. When a message comes in to my phone and pops up on the watch, it is there for 1/2 a second and then gone...again a few steps to open it up and a bit complicated. Not sure I would recommend this watch, but I am not throwing it out just yet.

I really like this watch. It looks good on my wrist, easy to read in the sun, and does all the basics well. Two small quibbles: I was able to download music and listen but cannot track a run and listen at the same time. I had hoped to be able to leave my phone behind but can’t yet. Second I got a small scratch on the bezel and crystal via a relatively knock. I wish the materials were a little more scratch resistant.

I have had to call Garmin for help at least four times, support was excellent. Even with the help I continue to struggle with the simple task of “ Power Off”. I find it very difficult to scroll down to get to Power Off. The manual is not helpful at all. I am fortunate that I only need the watch to monitor my vitals. That activity is working very well. Not sure what several of the functions are such as Body Battery. Overall all I am satisfied.

As a personal trainer I love all of the different training and timing options. 12/10 recommend the Vivoactive 5!

Love it!
I bought this a month ago and really glad I did. Amazing battery life, gives reminders to stretch, GPS enabled. At first it was having some trouble picking up on my walks vs bike trips, but it's learned now.

I like the nice clean design
BUT, it's not intuitive. I can't get to features I want and their I'd no giving manual or instructions. Instructions I be do find on the Web seem to be different models

Amazing
This is an incredible device. Covers all my body metrics. Leaves nothing undone. I used to use fitbits. In my opinion they are just toys compared to garmin

Great watch, but then never came back on. :(
I absolutely loved the watch, but not even two weeks after buying the watch, the screen turned black and never turned back on again. Luckily, Garmins exchange process is very easy! So I’m getting a replacement. I think I just got a dud. Will update when I get new watch!

So far so good
I switched from a Fitbit to the Garmin vivo5 and wished I did it sooner. It's a great watch. Easy to use and stats are simple.
The only feature I would have appreciated is the workout options. I would add just a basic workout feature or cross training for those that do mixed training such as strength and conditioning.

Love the design
I bought vivoactive 5 to replace my vivoactive 4s, because the battery was lasting each day less (after 2 yrs).
I have the same features and the battery does not long more than 4 days.
Not worth the money for this.
I will keep it only because it has a beautiful design!

Amazing features
I bought this watch a while ago and I absolutely love it!! It has so many more features then the last watch that I had. I can keep track of everything that I need to keep track of all in one little nifty compact watch! I hope others will love their vivoactive 5 just like I do

So far, ok.
Bought this to replace my Apple Watch which seemed to be a bit less able to track my activities and physical condition than a Garmin is capable of doing. So far, it is ok, but perhaps I should have chosen a more advanced model of watch. Time will tell, I suppose.

Learning skills
I’m very happy with the Vivactive 5 watch. There was a learning curve in the beginning but the company service team was extremely helpful and they talked to me and helped me off the “ledge”.

Overall great fitness watch
I have been using my Vivoactive 5 now for a little less than a month. I had previously purchased various cheap fitness watches to use as a step counter, but they all broke after a few months of wear. My Husband’s colleague suggested this watch, and so we both decided to give it a try.
Overall, I would recommend this watch to anyone who is looking to get more from their health and wellbeing. Besides cheap fitness watches, I have not owned a watch to this caliber, so I can’t compare it to other watches of its kind, but here’s my overall thoughts:
PROS
- This watch does a great job at motivating me to MOVE. I’ve literally put off going to bed to make sure I reach my step count and find that I’m more active than ever before.
- Being able to customize your strength training workouts through the watch is a game changer. I love that I don’t need to carry my phone around the gym to track what I’m doing.
- I love that it’s waterproof and that I can track my laps while swimming. (See notes regarding swimming under cons, too).
- The band is comfortable and isn’t distracting or anything (as opposed to previous watches I’ve had), and the lilac color is nice and not as stand out as a black band.
- The body battery and sleep score are a nice touch – we’re constantly asking each other what the others is at. It’s also helped me realize how awful my body reacts and sleeps when I drink.
CONS
- When swimming, I’ve noticed that the tracking isn’t 100% perfect. If I’m swimming free style at a fast pace, it’s fine, but if I want to casually swim during a cool down it typically counts my meters as farther than I’ve gone. Not a total issue, just not a perfect forecast. Additionally, not being able to customize swim workouts is a bit of a bummer, but again not the end of the world.
- As someone who’s not technologically advanced, I feel there could be better tutorials or deep dives into how to use it. I had a really hard time connecting my Spotify account, as well as understanding how to create a workout (once I figured it out it’s super easy, but my Husband and I both put our workouts in incorrectly at first because there isn’t much explanation about how to use it).
Opportunity for Improvement
- Would love to see an additional work out option for aerial yoga.
- The challenges are great. I feel there’s an opportunity to make the weekly challenge for steps against others more competitive/like a game. I’m not sure that would be useful to all, but I feel like it would help incentivize me to walk event more!
- Would highly recommend purchasing a screen protector for your watch as well, easy to scratch.

Comfort meets technology
This is my 1st Garmin and I'm super happy with this purchase. It's the most comfortable tracker I've ever had, it's easy to use and has a ton of cool features and watch faces.

extended battery charge
I bought the watch because I wanted the extended battery charge. My wife and daughter have Apple watches. They charge them every night. My Vivoactive 5 holds a charge for more than a week with normal use. It has all the features I would want in any smart watch.
