Rated 5 out of 5 by from A mediocre ite from Garmin Sadly this dies not live up to the hype. Other scales at less than had the price have more information. the readings are all over the place. I weighed myself 3 days straight and my weight fluctuated 7 pounds up and then 5 down…. My body fat was 7% spread over the 3 days. I can’t trust that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Like It I’ve had it for about a month now and it works great. Paired it with my Venu 2 and they sync great every day. Readings look accurate to me. Only two issues: 1. You toe tap it to turn it on. I have to tap my 5-6 times before it wakes up, so that feature needs a tweak. 2. We tried repeatedly to set up an account for my wife, but it never works, or when it does, it wipes out my account. So she just either uses the guest feature or another scale. That also needs a tweak. But overall I like it and haven’t had any issues other than the above.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the scale but…… It’s nice to be able to have separate profiles for my wife and myself but we weigh close to the same and when I weigh myself it will sometimes think it’s my wife and trying to get it to change to my profile is glitchy sometimes it will easily go to my profile when I tap it but sometimes it won’t do anything and end up put my weight on my wife’s profile and vice versa and we have to delete a lot of weights off our profiles

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great scale in the Garmin ecosystem Uh e had it for a few weeks now. I really like all the metrics it tracks and the fact that it's all uploaded to Garmin Connect. You can also have multiple user accounts for the scale. Sometimes it's a little slow to wake up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not worth the money The percent body fat is way off. I weight train 5 days a week and cardio and HIIT training 6 days a week. My body fat percentage is in the low teens and the scale has me around 22-23%. It seems like the scale just uses BMI to figure out body fat, BMI is well known to not work for people with a lot of muscle. The only accurate readings this scale gives you is weight and weather. The rest is useless made up numbers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Review for S2 Purchased this a month or so ago. My only complaint is when I go to weigh myself it doesn't not come on when you step on it or tap it. Some times I have to pick it up and put it back down for it to come on. Other than that it is great

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Average so far I bought the S2 scale a couple of weeks ago. I had the previous version for quite some time, but it ran its course. The same issues I've been reading online are true about this scale. The accuracy of the body fat feature is still an issue. I've toggled the settings from 4 to 10, attempting to get a solid reading. It still list me as having double the body fat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW Never thought I would like a scale that tells me I need to loose weight duh. Ever wonder what you weigh in Stones fun to know...far less than pounds if you are looking for a lower number. I weigh myself 3 to 4 times a day now just to see how things change. This Scale keeps track of every thing for me, let's me know the weather outside, knows my name as well and many others if you wish. What a fun way to watch your kids grow up from the very beginning B4 you even meet your child, keep track of events, goals your health. If you don't own one yet give it some real thought and enjoy getting on the scale. We did the marks on the Bathroom door now you can print it out on your computer each year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sucks for multi users Scale is not able to recognize different users. Using now for one month. The two of us that are using the scale have a completely different body type, however, our weight difference is about 5 #. The touch screen to change manually from one user to the other is only working when it wants to. Alone the setup of two users was a nightmare. I do not recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Good Measuring Device Since we bought this, we have noticed that it is about 5.5 lbs off what our old scale measures and what the doctor's office measures. We also find it hard to 'awaken' the scale. We get on barefoot, but it does not wake up. We tap it in numerous spots, but it does not wake up. Once it wakes up it works fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like the data, very buggy to set up initially Bought a while back and does well except when the batteries die. After new batteries are installed, you have to re-setup all the people using it again, but the connection and setup take multiple tries before it will finally connect. Once connected, it is good for another 9-12 months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really cool to see all your stats! I bought this to expand the information about my health. It is a huge benefit to be able to track this on a daily basis. The scale connects to your wifi. When you step on the scale, it sends all of your stats to your Connect app. Really really cool technology. Very glad I bought this scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loses connectivity to the app, and is inaccurate Issues: Every few months it needs to be factory reset because it loses connectivity to the app. Also the body fat %age is wrong. I got a dexa scan (which is 100% accurate) and the dexa showed my body fat at 20% less than the scale shows.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bad bad tech support I had this scale less than a week, it stopped working, call tech support for help, couldn't fix over the phone, wants me to give him $200 up front and send scale back for repair, I only paid $149 for the scale. They do not stand behind their products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features but needed to be replaced. We liked everything about this scale except: Not very responsive. We had to tap it rather hard to get it out of standby mode and even then there was a significant delay. Takes a while to calibrate if moved. If you’re in a rush it would add a couple pounds if moved prior to weighing yourself. And the screen developed several lines which finally prompted us to contact Garmin support. The support agent was excellent and we hope the replacement is a better experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought a brick I’ve been unable to get the scale to work once since I unboxed it. It immediately needed a software update which was unclear if it even completed successfully and since then it turns on when i tap it and then blinks like it thinks im wearing socks and shuts off with taking any measurements. it also doesn’t connect the app via bluetooth. I’ve gone through the factory reset and standard reset options dozens of times. I’m pretty sure it’s just a fancy glass brick

Rated 5 out of 5 by from S2 smart scale review I’ve had the scale for two weeks and really like it. However, I‘ve had some issues. I haven’t been bright enough to change from kg to pounds. Also, there have been variances of weight as much as five pounds from day to day. I haven’t figured it out. I like the extended information that it gives. I’m willing to overlook these issues that I have mentioned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from big problems with wifi connectivity!!!! I got my Garmin Venu 2+ watch and was excited to get the scale to complete the picture of my health. It has a lot of features I wanted and was excited when I first opened the box and tried it. I've had it now a couple weeks. And have had continual problems with Wi-Fi connection and getting the data stored on my computer. I'm frustrated and have wasted hours. Trying to problem solve. Really sad when I read a review that said people are having this problem. Even more and happy to find out they want you to send it back for a rebuilt unit. The wait time is a couple months. It's an expensive rip off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inaccurate Body Fat and a general pain to operate. The body fat percentage is off by 3% (too high), and you have to set it to an activity level of 10 to get it that close. I have two of them, one for home and one when I am on travel. Both are a pain to connect to any wireless or WiFi networks. I am constantly having to re-add them through the Garmin Connect app. They need a much better WiFi antenna. They reek of Garmin cutting corners and charging too much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It I have been weighing myself every morning to see how my decisions from the day before affect my body weight. This is helping me to find a better ways to keep my weight steady and not fluctuate by 5 pounds. I also like to see how it all combines with my workout choices. It easily connects to my watch and I feel it provides an accurate reading.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Waste of money It doesn’t recognize user profiles. Just posts a question mark. It only did it right the first time I did weigh-in. After, it just displays my weight, then a “?” Icon and the weather. No other insights. With just weight feature, I could have bought a $20 scale. Total rip-off. Addressed the support twice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Difficult to work I was anticipating a great product from Garmin. I love my bike computer. However, this took hours to connect to WiFi after multiple attempts. The scale doesn’t work unless you move it a little bit on the floor each time before stepping onto it. The fat% is inaccurate (compared to bod pod). I used to have a cheap foreign brand wifi scale that works better than this. For the expense and brand, I would expect much better quality

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great info and metrics I’ve been using this for a month and it’s easy set up for the primary user. Still working on getting my husband set up. I love the metrics provided and it’s definitely eye opening to see body fat percentage and work to get it moving in the right direction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fairly good Big bummer is this scale syncs with WiFi and not Bluetooth. Also this scale is reliably 10 pounds heavier than both my old scales. Hard to determine accurate weight. Other features are pretty neat but again I don’t know how accurate it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty nice. Once it is set up on your wifi, using it is very good. Admittedly I was going to purchase one but a friend decided it was too complicated for her and gave it to me. So, I was reluctant to accept as I thought it’s probably overkill, complicated and flakey. But it’s not. I really like this. It beams the weight and other metrics straight to Connect. Weight appears pretty accurate, I can’t say if other metrics are accurate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wi-Fi, Blue Tooth Connected Scale for Sharing Info I still don't know why I could not upload a software update in late January, but the replacement S2 Smart scale is working fine. It was initially slow to find my Wi-Fi for some reason but once connected it's now working as designed. Interestingly, my Body Fat %, Muscle, Dry Bone Mass and water % are all about 8 % different with the replacement scale. Proof that impedance scale data is not as accurate as DEXA measurements.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great scale with nice features As a tech enthusiast and fitness tracker, I recently invested in the Garmin Smart Scale to streamline my health metrics. My experience has been overwhelmingly positive, with a minor nuance worth mentioning. **Design and Integration:** First off, the scale's aesthetic is a high point. It's sleek and modern, fitting seamlessly into any bathroom decor. The real game-changer, however, is its integration with the Garmin Connect app. The scale syncs data instantly, making tracking a breeze. Garmin Connect's comprehensive dashboard offers an array of information, from weight trends to body composition metrics, all in one place. This level of integration is particularly beneficial for those deeply invested in the Garmin ecosystem. **Customization and Added Features:** The ability to customize what metrics the scale displays via the Garmin Connect app is a thoughtful touch. Personalization in health tracking is vital, and Garmin understands this. Additionally, the weather forecast feature is surprisingly handy. Checking the day's weather first thing in the morning, right as you weigh yourself, adds a layer of practicality to the daily routine. **Sensitivity Issues:** The scale's sensitivity can be a double-edged sword. It powers on with the slightest movement nearby, which, while ensuring ease of use, can also lead to accidental activations. This is a stark contrast to my previous scale, which required a foot tap to activate. A button or less sensitive activation method might have been a more efficient choice for avoiding unintentional power-ons. **Overall Satisfaction:** Despite this minor gripe, the Garmin Smart Scale has been a stellar addition to my fitness tracking arsenal. Its design, seamless app integration, and the wealth of information it provides make it a worthy purchase. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to consolidate their health metrics and streamline their fitness journey. My overall experience has been very positive, and this scale has become an integral part of my daily routine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Difficult to active scale It requires several attempts each morning to “wake up” the scale. Extremely annoying. Most time I have to bend over and lift the scale off the hard wood floor before it activates. Also, the screen diaplay is not crisp. Im left with the impression it has missed several generation of screen pixel advancements. I’m retuning it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quite disappointed I bought this to monitor at least part of my metrics besides weight. I have found my bone mass changing. I've replaced batteries and make sure it is in the same exact spot of the floor but with its incessant need to be lifted to turn on I'm not sure if I get it to tare properly. If the bone mass is off, I'm pretty sure none of the other data is really worth looking. Expensive scale that I could have just kept typing in the weight from my own scale. Also stop sending me this review request more than once!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice tool Gramin S2 smart scale is an accurate scale, works great with Garmin environment. Body fat percentage seems off but if your goal is to monitor your progress will be sufficient. If you are not using Garmin platform, though, there are many other cheaper options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great!....Mostly I pretty much love everything except the body fat calculation. It was WAY off to begin with. Once I went into the settings and set my body fat to what it should be it has been pretty steady since. If this is calculating through your body as it says it does, then you shouldn't have to manually enter data like that in order for it to read more accurately. I do love how it auto uploads all data to my Garmin Connect app. Overall though, I'm happy with purchasing this scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from useless if you do not have a Garmin account I bought this to put in one of our bathrooms. The other has a WIthings scale. They differ a bit in the weight (Garmin reports about 2% lighter and a lot less fat %). I am not sure which is correct. The big disappointment with the Garmin S2 is that you must have a garmin connect account to get anything but weight and weather from the scale. No body mass data, no water, no fat, nothing but the weight. No history either - but that makes sense if it does not know who you are. Other scales give all the data and store an Unknown user. The information for that user can be saved with an existing user or discarded. I would not recommend this to anyone because it requires accounts for users.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This needs A LOT of improvement(s) I really love everything Garmin and was quite excited to get my hands on this smart scale. I cringed the second I saw BMI pop up. That is such an antiquated/outdated measurement, I'm shocked Garmin put that on there. Guessing whoever thought that was a good idea still has an AOL email account. The display is kinda junky too. For a smart scale at this price point, one would think they could integrate a higher-resolution display. Also, the body fat percentage is WAY off. I walk around at about 10-12% and have for quite some time (having it measured professionally periodically) and the second I got this scale to work (more on that later), it showed I had 28% body fat. That was yet another red flag. I did, however, test my weight against another digital scale and they were both exact. So at least there's that! Now for the crazy frustrating part. The instructions say to tap the scale with a toe to have turn on. Mine doesn't do that. A tap, a second tap, a light step with one foot, nothing turns it on (maybe I'm boring?). I'll then step on with both feet, nothing. The second I step off, it turns on. I quickly move back on, it turns off. I seriously thought I was being punked. The ONLY way I've found I can consistently get it to turn on would be to pick it up and gently set it down. Viola! It turns on. I'm not sure I want a scale that I can't wake up unless I pick it up and move it. And yes, it's sitting on a hard tile surface. So basically, I have a VERY expensive scale that shows outdated and inaccurate data, that I have to pick up and move slightly, to get things to work. I'm sending this one back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The new scale hooks up every time and consistant I bought this because it will connecte to my Garmin connect app making my fitness tracker and scale all in one place. It works just fine. It send to connect through Wi-Fi and does that very well. However this is the second scale. The first scale would not connect by Bluetooth to connect app on my IPhone. So I could not use it. You have to use Bluetooth to set it up. Not sure why it can’t be done through connect on WiFi. But the second connected very easily and is doing great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Accurate weight but not accurate fat percentage. I’ve been using this scale for about a month and comparing it to a couple other scales. The weight is always accurate. However, I’m about 18% body fat. The other scales pick up on that. The Garmin scale kept claiming I was 30+% body fat. I finally had to go in and manually change the body fat to 18% and after a week of changing the body fat to measured body fat, it started calling it 18% as well. If it really is measuring body fat via impedance, why did I have to manually put in the amount? The other scales didn’t need that. It syncs very well with the Garmin Connect app. It even knows which user is using the scale. I’m not sure how it knows. If you have multiple users for your scale, it’s GREAT at knowing which person is using the scale. The design looks really sharp. I do have to double tap it to get it go come on. Most scales you can just step on or tap. I’ve had to be really firm a couple times to get it to come on. It sounds sometimes on a tile floor like I’m kicking it. Overall it’s a good scale. If all I wanted was accurate weight, this scale is excellent. If you want things like hydration and body fat %, you’ll have to be patient and train it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good data but frustrating The information provided is good but it doesn’t allow you to choose the user before you get on. Because my husband and I are about the same size, it’s constantly confusing the two of us and it doesn’t always allow me to swap users before it saves it. So I don’t get my weight and one or the other has to delete out the wrong data from our app.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Returned Body fat percentage readings not accurate which was the main reason for purchase. After reading in depth reviews, a youtube video went into detail of how to "fix" the issue by entering your "known" percentage. If I have to "fix the issue" and enter my "known" percentage, the scale is not worth the cost. It gave. me a reading of 37% body fat. I am 113 pounds, have visible muscle and my tanita scale ranges from 23%-26% body fat, which is more in line with a professional calibration I had a year ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tracking simplified Very pleased with this scale and it's ability to transfer the information straight to my connect app. Two of use the same scale and we are 20 pounds apart so it has no difficulty recognizing which user is one the scale. The body fat average for the week is within less than half a percentage difference from my Dexa scans so I feel it's fairly accurate for that. The muscle mass is farther off from my Dexa scans so I'm not sure about accuracy there. Overall I'm very happy with this scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrible BMI / Bodyfat This is the second one I’ve bought hoping the first was a factory issue. The bodyfat percentage is more than double any other derive I’ve ever used, caliper tests, tape tests. Forums constantly echo this opinion and Garmin ignores it. It’s demotivating to people and needs to be addressed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Took a little work to set up, but works great. I love all the data this scale provides, and when using the GarminConnect app, it tracks it over time nicely as well. It helps to learn how the scale calculates the information it reports beyond just weight, but it's fascinating to see all the results. After a couple of weeks, this is working great, and our whole family loves checking in regularly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I wish I loved it.... I really wanted to love this scale. As a fitness instructor and personal trainer, I wanted an easy way to weigh my clients and record their body fat percentage. However, there are two major disappointments about it: 1) it isn't easy to turn on. My previous scale turned on with a slight tap; I have to repeatedly tap the Garmin Index and still haven't discovered the exact part of the scale to tap - it seems to be different every day. So while my clients are watching me repeatedly tap the scale like an idiot with no result. 2) I think the body fat percentage is off by about 10%. it is giving a percentage that is 10% higher than my handheld body fat tester (which I have compared to professional measurements done various ways). Knowing that the body fat % is so far off, I'm not sure I can trust the other metrics, other than the weight (at least that seems right). The only reason I give it three stars and not less is because I do like the way it trends the weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mostly accurate and consistent - high body fat % I recently updated to the Index S2 after my S1 finally failed. The S2 provides more detailed data on bone mass, muscle mass, and water percentage which may be helpful. It is hard to get it to turn on and frustrates others in my family. Justing standing on it or tapping doesn't work. I find I need to pick it up and then set it down again to get it to register - acceptable, but annoying. Also, my reported body fat percentage jumped 10-12% higher relative to what my S1 reported. One nice thing is that my Garmin account no longer updates my weight to 60 lbs whenever my kid steps on the scale. But perhaps this is because they can't figure out how to turn it on! Sometimes stepping on the scale twice in a row shows a fluctuation of about .7 lbs. Not very confidence inspiring for such an expensive scale. The Garmin Connect sync has been great which seems to be what we're paying for here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good features I have an Omada scale and this new scale, and I am very happy with the added features in the Index, especially the bone and muscle measurements, which will allow me to measure improvement over time, and the fact that it tracks to my phone for more detail. The only issue I have is that the Index fluctuates between 0.5 and 3 pounds heavier than the Omada, even when I step from one to the other. The omada is more consistent in day to day weight, so I'm going to look into how to recalibrate the Index if possible or see if stepping on the index in a very specific spot each provides more consistency.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible Not the quality I have known to expect from Garmin. The body composition algorithm simply used the dated philosophy of BMI to calculate body fat and the like. Therefore anyone with a lean muscular build will get a reading that is significantly off. I'm around 12 to 14 percent body fat per my Dexa scans but this scale shows me at 28 percent. For $150 they should have done better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice, for what it is, but…. I received the Garmin scale in December, and was rather dismayed when I received my first several measurements. Basically, the numbers I was seeing seemed to suggest the scale was interpreting the data based on the expectation of my age/weight/height, and less so on the actual numbers from the impedance. It reported my body fat percentage at almost 29%… And my lean muscle mass as 77 lbs. (which if you look at a standard BMI chart, that is the rough expectation for an average male that age/height/weight. But I’m not exactly average. (For example, I can max bench 275ish, which is a tad outside the norm.) So, after reading multiple reviews and discussions on the Garmin site, I ended up going to Supplement Superstore to use their $15,000 machine to check, and received drastically different results. (21% BF and 97lbs lean muscle mass, which is more indicative of reality.) Thankfully, you can enter this data to change the “expectation” the Garmin scale has, and since that time, the scale seems to be working well. That said, I will have a monthly recheck against the more expensive scale to ensure the Garmin is still reflecting reality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable weight but not reliable body fat % The scale is consistent with the weight. It is pretty close to the other scales I tried. All were within about 0.2 lbs. Body fat varied widely. The tape put me at 18% body fat. Two of the scales had me at close to this with 18.9 and 19 percent. The Garmin scale put me at 31%. Not even close. All the BMIs were witching 0.1 but since BMI is only a screening tool, I don’t put much weight in it. I knew a weight lifter with 3% body fat and a BMI of 30. I’m not sure why health professionals treat it like the holy grail of health. Muscle and bone masses varied but since I haven’t care much about either, I couldn’t tell you which was more accurate. Hydration always seem to read the same no mater whether I am about to work out or after. Either I’m really good at hydrating during exercise or it’s not very good at judging hydration. Interface with Garmin Connect was easy and quick. It’s a great scale to get your weight. It’s also good at tracking trends. When it comes to numbers other than weight, it doesn’t seem that accurate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointing I bought the scale a while ago. After my withings scale broke The UI is kind of clunky but I can’t change the profile on the scale, it doesn’t connect my connect app — my partner weighed themselves on it before I did and now only their guest profile shows up. They weigh a lot less than me, garmin connect took their weights and messed up all my training readiness. There’s no simple way to delete the data or have the scale recognize my user. Very disappointing

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good integration to app, accuracy could be better I have been using this scale for almost two weeks, and I like the ease of the app integration. Overall, it seems like the weight measurement is fairly accurate (although when I first got it I had several pound differences between two weigh-ins one right after the other). The muscle mass and bone mass vary more than I'd expect compared to the water %. I am not sure how much those masses are influenced by water in them, but I would expect to see water weight vary more.

However, it is extremely touchy--currently, it only seems to work reliably when it's in the middle of my bathroom floor. When I put it where my old scale was (in a convenient place to weigh myself, but also where I'm not tripping over it all the time), it never wants to read anything but basic weight. Still working with support on this--but no resolution yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Intergration Garmin Connect I have owned the Index S2 Smart Scale for about a month and love how it integrates with Garmin Connect app. I no longer have to stop and make a manual entry into the app. I feel the scale is accurate as I have another scale beside this one that other family members use. The readings on this scale match the other scale. Unless both scales are off, I feel confident the readings are correct. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pricey Scale for Sub-Average Measurements After having this for over 2 weeks and comparing with scales at 1/4 the cost, I'd have to say that this is very pricey compared to other offerings, especially as the Fat % seems to be way overblown. While other scales put me at way lower values this one seems very high. The primary reason for getting this or the more cheaper options is the automated Garmin Connect integration which helps me to track my weight and other stats over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Underwhelmed for price Cool looking scale. Neat data. Every morning it’s a battle to wake it up. I tap on the top all over and sometimes it just doesn’t turn on. I have made sure it was fully updated ect. For the price should never have the issue within a month of opening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy With This Scale! This has a lot of features that are nice if you are already using the Garmin ecosystem. It syncs well via wifi. There is useful data including trending of data. The only issue I've had is using it on carpet. It comes with little risers to put on the bottom but I guess they aren't long enough because it still doesn't give an accurate weight compared to a hard surface.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the auto upload to Garmin Connect I really like the scale especially for the auto upload to Garmin Connect however; there are many times it is difficult to turn on. The instructions say to tap the scale with your foot to activate but most times we have to literally have to physically move the scale to wake it up. I also like the way it automatically knows which one of us is using the scale by the difference of our weight but I wonder how it would work if both of us had a very similar weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not up to other Garmin smart pieces I Have. I was excited to receive the scale ,when I received the first scale it would not connect to the WIFi no matter how many times I reset it so I sent it back. the second scale came and It set up and connected perfectly, read outs were great connected to my Garmin connect app perfectly. However the Fat % is way off? I double checked it against my other smart scale and the commercial scale at the club and it was exactly 9% higher than both of those scales so its coming back to you. I am a huge Garmin fan with my Garmin In Reach Mini, Music 245, S62 approach watch with CT10 sensors and Edge 1040 bike computer however the scale just wasn't up to the same standard in my opinion ? if it was 1-2% difference I could live with it however the discrepancy was just to large of a gap after back checking it with 2 other scales.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mixed reviews The scale turns on much quicker than the Amazon reviews suggested, also syncs well with my Garmin app. The body composition numbers seems off (I'm new to this). It says my body fat % is 29.1, which puts me in the obesity category, yet my BMI is 24.3, a normal range. I am 5'7", and weigh 155.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First version was better I have two garmin smart scales - number one was original version I’ve had maybe 5 years or so. Second is the latest “Smart Scale “ version. Second or most recent version is junk compared to original. Do yourself a favor and google the reviews on this scale before you buy. Biggest complaint is Body Fat reading - original garmin scale has me about 10% body fat which is probably about right. Latest version has me at 26% - same weight and body composition on both. I’ve done all software updates and tried messing around with my age and activity level on Garmin connect. Made no difference. For the amount this scale costs - unacceptable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unable to Sync or connect to WIFI Despite going through every Garmin troubleshooting guide the scale simply will not update the manual fix in order to work. Unfortunately, trying to actually contact Garmin customer service has been a joke, which is really unfortunate. I wouldn't buy this item until they rectified a fix out stifht out of the box. It's far too expensive of an item to not work properly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, minor bugs I like it overall, but there's a bug I've seen once where the screen flashes and the only way to fix it is to take the batteries out and put them back in. Only seen it once so far, and it's otherwise nice. I'd prefer if i could save records to a microsd card instead of a phone, but i knew what i was getting when i bought it. I keep forgetting to reach out to customer service about it...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good! I bought this about 3 weeks ago and went on vacation. I have only had a few days to use it. I had to call service to find to how to add another user (email works better than the app). Also how to change from kilos to lbs. Plus it registers me at 27% body fat and I am actually lass than 15% I was told this will settle in and get more accurate as the scale gets to "know me". I wis the online manuel had a lot more information.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's nice that it updates via wifi. Bought it hoping to improve my fitness score however the body fat sensor and bone mass sensor is poor. It says I grow or lose a pound of bones daily and the body fat seems to be a function of bmi which is inaccurate. I'm about 180 lean build and it says I'm over 20 percent body fat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible Connectivity I really enjoyed the integration with the Garmin ecosystem when it connected, but that deteriorated over the first year. Now it won't connect to my wifi at all. All of the prescribed solutions have failed. My other Garmin devices connect without issue (Edge 530, Index BPM). For now the S2 is destined to be recycled. I hope futures scales have a better radio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scale The Index S2 looks good, and its Wi-Fi connection is key. I like its biometrics, but body fat percentage seems to be way off, and water weight is useless, since bone, muscle, and fat are all water. Body mass is mostly water regardless of composition. More useful metrics would be estimated fat mass (inclusive of water), estimated bone mass (inclusive of water), and estimated muscle mass (inclusive of water).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice scale but be cautious of Body Fat percentage This is an excellent scale and measures many body features. The weight measurement is spot on, however the Body Fat measurement was about three times higher than I was expecting. After further investigation it seems that the titanium (metal) implants I had with a spinal fusion back surgery have adversely affected the BF% readings. I was able to recalibrate the scale by comparing body image pictures from the internet with my own.

Takes forever to connect sometimes, especially if the wifi signal isn't real strong where you are using the Scale. Followed the instructions on the support site to enable "athlete mode", doesn't work. Made no difference in body fat calculations. Not sure if that is an issue with the Scale itself or the app.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The good and the bad The good: Seamless integration with the app. All info in one place. The bad: Pricey compared to others in the market. Grossly overestimates body fat (by almost double compared to multiple other devices as well as comparing how I look with medical comparison photos). Less data than other, cheaper scales. Does not show where you fall in relation to normal. For example, my Renpho scale that I bought for $39.00 has far more data. Also, you could click on a value such as BMI and it displayed where you fall on a sliding scale (underweight, athletic, normal, overweight). Now I have to look this up on my own as opposed to just having it built into the app. Should be an easy fix with a software update and I really hope Garmin does this. I only bought this scale as I use the Fenix watch and Garmin blood pressure monitor and sadly I am a little disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scale We previously owned the original scale and after 7 years couldn't connect to our wifi when router was changed. Ordered new S2 scale from Garmin and it is great. Only downfall was the measurement of Body Fat was doubled on the new scale when compared to the old scale in my Garmin Connect account. After 2 weeks and searching online found that there is a way to manually input Body Fat percentage measured from a different source and it is subsequently corrected on future weigh ins. All good now and working fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not very accurate We have compared the results of the garmins scale to several other scales and body analysis device and it seems to read quite high. Surprisingly a cheap scale was closer to the professional values. Not sure if we will keep it. Seems like these are all well known issues garmin is aware of but choosing not to address.

I sent it back. I liked it when it worked. Next level features but what good is it if it doesn't do what it’s supposed to?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better features - worse UI Great scale except the body fat reading is incorrect. The previous Garmin scale was more accurate, however I can correct it in Garmin Connect. My wife reports the font and reading on this scale is too small to see without glasses. She can see the main number, but the other icons and characters are too small. The previous Garmin scale was easier to read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Weighs and Syncs I have had this scale for a few weeks. It was easy to set up and syncs with the Garmin app. The weight is nice and accurate, the other readings seem stable. I do not have anything else to compare them to, so I can’t speak to their accuracy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute disappointment Every 2-3 weeks the scales "forget" users and have to reset them and re-add them to the account. Very sad. At a new start, the scales can automatically record the weight of another, second user to the first user. As a result, my husband's profile records and stores my weight, not his.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inaccurate and difficult for more than 1 user This scale weighs me about 6 lbs less than the scale at the Dr.'s office or the gym. A few weeks ago I added a 2nd user to the scale and we have some difficulty toggling to the correct user after the weight/ stats are measured, it the wrong user gets locked in without a way of backing out without re-weighing. I am thinking about returning it. This would be a great feature if I could get the correct weight associated to the correct person. The 2nd user is about 3 lbs less than I am so possibly this similarity in weight is difficult for the scale to pick up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good scale with some issues The main value of this scale is integration into the garmin ecosystem. If you have a watch and use garmin connect, this scale is a natural extension. It has all the core features (Weight, weight trend, body fat %, BMI, etc...) you would want. The caution is on the wifi, which has had tons of issues, and still doesn't work well with a mesh network. Even with FW 3.3, it still is hit or miss, and it does not connec to 5 GHz at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Add-On to your training ecosystem. It is just so easy to use. You just set up your scale on your Garmin Connect app and that's pretty much it. Then you jump up and all your metrics will be uploaded automatically to your Garmin Connect app and the rest of your training apps. I found this an easier way to just jump on and forget. I used to have other scales, but this is nice just because of that. If you don't mind to have all your data sync this might find some cheaper options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's ok I like the features and how it automatically uploads to Garmin Connect. But it's finicky to activate/turn on and I recently had to reset the scale. I wish I could just set it down, tap it with my foot, and get a reading but it's not that simple. I do like knowing something about bone mass, fat vs. muscle, etc. Is the small hassle worth the small benefits? I'm not excited yet and it's been since Christmas. Sorry -- I love the rest of my Garmin stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Features/ very unique wake process I like the scale and how it integrates with Garmin Connect. The wake up process is unnecessarily difficult and counter intuitive. Considered returning the scale for this reason. I find it odd that I have to knock on the scale with my knuckles to activate it. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to my fitness set up I replaced my scale which was good for sending data to an app, but I was frustrated that it didn't integrate with my Garmin Connect. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the connectivity I bought the Garmin scale because I was looking for more accuracy of body fat than my old Tanita Ironman. It’s hard to say which is more accurate! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the connectivity with my Garmin app, but... The scale is really an elegant looking device, accurate for weight, and the connectivity piece works perfectly with Garmin Connect. However, the body composition calculations are WAY off, by almost ten percentage points higher than the measurements I get using an InBody Test and old-school body fat calipers. This ultimately affects body water, muscle mass, and total fat weight. I'm wondering if there is a fix pending in a future software upgrade?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ended up returning it I’m a Garmin ecosystem user…have computer for bike and a new Epic 2.0 what which I love. I also find the “Connect” very useful, so I thought I add the scale to the ecosystem. Unfortunately I ended up returning as the some of the metrics were not accurate and off by a large margin. The weight is accurate, but other important metrics like %body fat, etc were not aligned with the metrics I get from a professional doctors office.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feet away to sucess With a tap, the scale readies itself and then you see two footprints, hitch indicates it ready. Stepping onto the glass where the footprint are, sets you up for a complete review of more than weight. It calculates you BMI, muscle mass and several other calculated values that can be tracked using many Garmin or Garmin compatible applications, updating your application or Smartwatch with the latest data via Bluetooth or WiFi application in use. I highly recommend it and have incorporated it in my overall health management tools. It’s the best scale I have used and was easy to setup and integrate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good scale with a major caveat... Really like the connectivity of the Index S2 - works great with WiFi and populates all the information into the Garmin Connect app BUT the body fat count is very inconsistent and way off. When I first got it, it was shockingly high for me, and I compared it with the InBody system and it was a full 6 percentage points lower. I see in the forums others have had the same issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved the integration I love how the Index Scale is automatically synchronized to Garmin Connect. I now track my weight/etc on a more consistent basis with goal to improve. I only have two complaints- 1- Garmin really should do a much better job letting people know that their Index Scale only works with 2G WiFi and not 5G! That would have saved me a LOT of wasted setup time. Ugh! 2- Activating the scale for each weigh-in should be more routine ….currently requires quite a bit of “toe tapping” to wake up the scale. Not a big deal…but frustrating it does not awaken by simply stepping on it. Other than those two complaints, I love the Garmin Index Scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Accurate for weight but not body fat Got this for my wife and I to use because we both use Garmin watches and track most fitness and sleep metrics. We also both have access to a "professional" (not allowed to say the name) scale and our old scale that measures weight and body fat. Both the Professional and home scale measure my body fat between 13-14% day to day. The Garmin has me at 29% body fat. I am 58 years old 6'1 193 lbs. I work out 5 days a week and have since my teenage years. If I change my age to reflect me being 35 years old the bodyfat shows 26%. I have never been 20+% body fat in my life. The Garmin scale looks at my age and weight and assumes I am overweight. We were both very hopeful for this scale, but after a couple of days it was obvious it was a waste of money if you track anything other than weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and functional scale Best feature by far is the WiFi syncing to the app. I have used Bluetooth scales before but they were annoying as you’d have to open the app on your phone and connect to sync the data. Garmin has a great solution to upload your data to the cloud to see in all devices in the Connect app. The design and aesthetics of the scale are also top notch. The screen is really nice, but would have been a nicer if it was slightly bigger. Some data screens such as trends are a bit hard to see so you have to bend down to really understand them. But otherwise when it displays your weight and other stats the screen is perfect. Much better than the old style screens that look like digital clocks. My one con with the scale is the “tap to wake” feature. The tapping doesn’t always work and there is a slight lag to when the screen turns on. Sometimes I’ll have to tap it multiple times with increasing pressure. It would be great if you could just step on and it woke up and started taking your measurements instead of tapping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overpriced Standard Scale The S2 scale is no better than any other scale. It’s overpriced for a scale that can’t properly measure body fat, which has been an issue for years with this scale, Garmin has done nothing to fix the issue. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice features, but... Great interface and features. Initial pairing and set up is easy and intuitive, yet the scale is surprisingly inaccurate. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mehh. Bought this to pair up with our garmin watches, thinking it would simplify our health tracking. However, the battery life is incredibly short and we've had to reconnect it to our wifi too many times to count, as well as re-pairing it with our phone apps. Basically, the scale has been more of a hassle than it's worth, so we're back to entering our data into the app manually.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scale - one little annoyance This scale works pretty amazingly. It's nice not to have to manually enter my weight anymore. It's also nice to get an estimate of the muscle mass, bone weight, and water weight. Even though my wife hates the idea, I also like that it shows the weather at the end. My morning routine is to weigh myself first thing, so it's nice to get a reminder of the weather without having to look at my phone. The only annoyance and the reason I dropped a star is that the instructions and the instructional video show that you can wake the scale by tapping it with your foot. Neither my wife nor I have been able to make this happen. I basically have to gently kick it from the side to get it to wake up. If I could actually just tap it to turn it on, it would be perfection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great for a few weeks before issues started The scale worked great for a few weeks, then it started not synching to my Garmin app. Restared it several times and each time it wouldn't recognize me as a user. Read up on how to fix the issue, but it sounded like a hassle to complete, requiring you have a second separate wifi connection (which I don't have) Scale still works, it's just not smart anymore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Smart Scale Purchased a scale for my workout room. Haven’t figured out how to wake it up easily yet. I need to tap on it a few times before it starts. Rated 5 out of 5 by from When it works it is great… but I have many Garmin devices and pleased with them all but this scale. This by far is the poorest, not sure if it was ready for their rollout. The biggest issue is connectivity, you never know when it will transfer the data. When you lose your network they say to fix it go to someone else’s network and long in than go back to yours… really? Anyway I would highly not recommend this product. It doesn’t work more than it works. Support is poor to none.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks good and easy to add to the Garmin Ecosystem I've had this scale for about a month, a very disappointing month. The scale is good looking, easily set up, and interfaces smoothly with the Connect app. Additionally, the weight measurements seem to be consistently accurate, but that's where the good news ends. As a tool for monitoring body composition, this product is worthless. Seems like the body comp results are generated through some sort of statistical guesswork. My scale consistently reads almost 10% off from my actual body fat %, though if I mess with my age on the app, I can bring it closer to the 5% range. If you want a nice looking scale for a lot of money, get this one. If you're looking for a reliable tool to track health metrics, look elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very convenient. Not sure yet about calibration I replaced another scale that also had BMI and fat % measurements. The index seems to consistently weigh me higher by 2 pounds (~1%) and higher fat % (by a huge 2x factor, 24 vs 12). Online there seems to be similar experiences. I don’t know which scale is right but it is frustrating. I do love that the Garmin scale is connected to my account and automatically uploads metrics. That’s why I got it and it works very well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great scale easy to set up and accurate numbers I was very hesitant to purchase this scale because of all the negative reviews online. I took the scale out of the box put the batteries in it, it immediately synced with my Connect app on my iPhone. On the first attempt, it connected with my home Wi-Fi. It took about 5-10 minutes for the scale update it’s software. I then took my first weight. I’m replacing a Fitbit scale which is pretty accurate. The Garmin scale measurements on BMI, body, fat and weight or spot on with my Fitbit scale. I am not sure why all the people were having difficulty that they had. We will see about the accuracy over time as we move forward but at this point it appears to be very accurate. I’ve had it for about three weeks and it seems to be working really well. The measurements seem to be spot on with the Fitbit scale I’m still checking it with the Fitbit scale as backup. So either they’re both wrong are they both accurate? I would lead to the latter, my doctor has a more advanced scale, and the numbers are spot on from my last physical. I would recommend this for anyone who is trying to get back into shape, lower their body fat and BMI or to track their fitness levels. I have numerous Garmin products, and this is one of the easiest one to use that I own. I’m not sure why people have such problems with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nicely Integrated Love that this scale is integrated. Integrated into Connect and then into training and other aspects of the Garmin infrastructure. It does seem like the calculations are just that. Based on what what you weigh, all the other muscle mass changes on a ratio. You can put in a Dexa scan result, but then your calculations are based on that. The WiFi needs to be fixed. It connects half of the time. Even moved the WAP within 10 feet of the scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Body fat way off (I hope) I love the looks, the connectivity, the ease of use and I’m confident the weight is correct. However, the algorithms or whatever it is they use for body fat percentage is wonky. I’m a fit 120 lb 5 foot 5 female who bikes and runs with plenty of intensity 8-12 hours a week currently. My body fat on the Garmin compared to an inexpensive body fat scale and a medical grade one used for health assessments is approximately 5-7% higher. Now I know I’m in my mid 40s and have plenty body fat but I think to be at the upper end of normal/lower end of obese is not accurate for my build or activity level. I’d like to know how that metric is calculated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I think the Index S2 Smart Scale is worthless junk The scale worked fine for about 3 month before it began spewing out highly eratic and inacurate numbers. For example: I 75 years old 6 feet tall and weigh 215 pounds. This equates to a body mass index of 29.2. The S2 scale calculates the BMI as anywhere from 115-135. No matter how many times I reset the scale or calabrate it it comes up with the same garbage number and sends it to Garmin Express that tells me that my fitness age is over 100 years old. Thankfully, I orderedd the scale through Amazon so wass able to return it. This is the second S2 scale that I've purchased and the firsst one had the same problem. I'm replacing it with the Olilean X pro at about half the cost of the S2 but according to reviews is the most accurate scale on the market. Before purchasing this junk from Garmin read the reviews online from many other buyers that are expressing the same problem. It's wworthlesss junk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I’ve never been so excited about a scale! OK, I admit that I am somewhat of a gadget guy, but this thing is awesome! It knows who is on the scale and, within seconds of stepping on, your biometrics are recorded and synced to your device. Weight, yes, of course, but BMI, bone density, and a host of others. I had a Weight Watcher’s scale and it would show the same weight for me for days on end, regardless of my caloric intake or activity level. I feel that this Garmin scale is more accurate as it closely tracks with adjustments that I make in either category.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repeated failures with dry skin A great tool for regular weight and getting the data into Garmin Connect. However, the other parameters it is supposed to measure don't work unless I apply a moisturizing lotion to my feet at bedtime (I like to use the scale every morning). I'm 70 years old, 6'4", 190 lbs, very active and healthy for my age. My feet skin does tend to be dry, but it is annoying to have to lotion them every night to be able to get all the data from the scale. Wondering if others have this problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the integration but the accuracy is suspect We are mostly a Garmin household, so we love the easy connection with Connect. This allows data to sync with My Fitness Pal and Training Peaks. Unfortunately, we do have issues with the weight being accurate and consistent. I often check the weight against a inexpensive Tanita in the other room. Zeroing and calibrating the scale sometimes works and sometimes it takes several tries to get things stable again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Piece of junk that won't connect. Failed product I bought this through the website on February and it has been nothing but a pain to set up and use. It was impossible to pair, took so long to connect to wifi, and It only accepted one Garmin connect profile in pairing the one time I got it to pair successfully.Yet, after a firmware upgrade it never paired with app and wifi again. I tried to pair using both updated Android (Pixel) phone and iphone, more than 20 times I tried to reset it and pair yet everytime I get a message "Pairing failed". I’ve followed the suggested support recommendations to reset and no good. This is the MOST EXPENSIVE scale on the market yet it can't event connect to the company's app, it's fails to do its job and you can't set up two profiles. Garmin should be ashamed of themselves for putting their name on such a failure of a product. My partner and I both own Garmin watched but NEVER AGAIN will we buy a garmin product as your company has CLEARLY failed to develop products worth their customers money.

I had an old (10 yr) Fitbit that worked well but was interested in the features the Garmin offered. I hope Garmin will get the software/firmware straightened out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scale but Body Fat "Measurement" is off. I got my original Garmin Index S2 scale about 10 months ago. I love that all my measurements get uploaded to my phone and the web via the Garmin Connect App. However, I noticed that my Body Fat % is rather high compared to other digital scales, even my son's Garmin Index (previous generation). According to other scales, my body fat is around 21%. According to this Index S2 scale, it's around 32%, which would indicate that I'm obese. But I'm 5' 9" and weigh about 162 lbs., which is clearly not obese. I even contacted Garmin support about this issue and they sent me a new scale in exchange for my old one. The new one they sent me only lowered my BF 1% (old scale said 33%, new scale says 32%). Except for this one issue, which I believe to be a design flaw of the Index S2 "Smart" scale, I do really like this scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good scale, poor at the other metrics I've had my S2 for a few years now. For weight alone, it seems pretty accurate. For the other metrics, it is WAY off. This is a known issue. Percent body fat is incredibly inaccurate, and bone mass and skeletal muscle mass are not actually measured but imputed through an algorithm that makes a lot of assumptions based on your age. If you change your age in your Garmin Connect settings it will give you wildly different readings. So clearly it isn't actually measuring anything. I had high hopes for this device. But honestly, save your money and buy an old fashioned scale. This thing is garbage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not trustworthy, not precise I previously owned the first garmin index scale, bought it in 2020, I was happy about it with all the measurements it provides, I just bought the Garmin index scale S2 assuming it would have newer features and more precise measurements, but what I really found out is that the measurements between the 2 are completely different, even when I use 1 after the other, you would expect some minor changes/variables, I'd say +/- 1 would be acceptable, but using the 2 at the same time will give me completely different numbers, specially on weight and body fat (+/- 3 kg or +/-10% body fat difference), honestly I don't even know which one is right or wrong, would not trust any with such a big differences being tested at the same time, not happy at all

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only good for weight Just got this and was super excited but the body fat reading is way off. I didn't expect it to be perfect but it is pretty far off and that's really what I bought it for. The scale itself is spot on but with how far off the body fat is, the weight is the only reading I trust. For the price, I would pass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice integration but $$$ and ??? metrics accuracy I bought this and the automatic data transfer works really well via WiFi; also, it integrates with multiple users which is v. cool. But is is 5x more expensive than other smart scales so i got this as a gift otherwise would not buy it myself - accuracy of other metrics is questionable at best. The accuracy of BMI, body fat %, and other "advanced" metrics is a bit off. I recommended that Garmin pick up the camera-based body assessment technology from Amazon's discontinued Halo product - it was a LOT more accurate - garmin should incorporate it into the conenct app along with the scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Scale with lots of features The scale is a little bit pricey but overall I am very pleased with the product. It tracks all sorts of features with your weight, BMI, and even the weather! I like to track my trends during my weight loss journey and this scale has been a great part of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall: Okay-ish Overall, the scale is just okay. Pros: I like that it syncs to my garmin account and I I can't watch trends in one place. Cons: there is not a guest function. Basically if it's just you and your spouse/partner using it with Garmin accounts it's overpriced but ok. If you're storing in a shared bathroom where guests might want to try it I wouldn't splurge on this product. So, if a small child, or a guest, uses the scale and it uploads to my username it through a the trend off. At this price point there should be a guest options WITHOUT needing an additional Garmin account invite. Frankly I wish I would have saved the money for a cheaper Amazon find that offered the hues mode.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Starting scale up requires hard tap on the side. My first S2 didn't start with any kind of tap so I returned it. The newer scale does work when tapping on the side .. however, I sometimes have to tap it hard enough that it moves. The user manual shows that one only has to tap lightly on the top of the scale (NOT True).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helpful information I like the way this scale produces a graph of weight trend over time right on the scale - no need to go log in somewhere else like with other competitors. There's also a wealth of information shared right at the scale - BMI, body fat, water etc. It's like my own little body dashboard. The connect app is helpful too, finally calculating my fitness age right in the app along with my cycling stats. Nice ecosystem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for weight, other metrics are unreliable I bought this to replace an old index that died. I think the weight is a little more precise than gen 1. Accuracy is good enough. The non-weight metrics (bodyfat, water, muscle, and bone) are just derived from height and weight. They should either not be included or you should have the option to turn them off. The scale is way overpriced for just weight, but it is easy to integrate with the connect app.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great until a software update. I loved my smart scale index until I accepted a software update for additional features but after the update I can’t get it to connect to my WiFi. I called Garmin and they first said it my issue with the internet but because all my other devices work fine, and then other users had the same problem they agreed it was a software issue. I waited weeks for the fix but I still can’t get the software fix uploaded because the scale won’t connect to WiFi. I even took it with me on a trip so I could try the hotel Wi-Fi but it still won’t connect so I can’t install the new software. I emailed Garmin and sent them pictures but my only response was a request for a review, so here you go. I can use it as a scale but it doesn’t connect to the Garmin app and it doesn’t know who I am so I only get the weight and no other data. So disappointed because when it was working it was great, but that was months ago.

HAVING 3 WEEKS OF USING BOTH GARMIN 935 WATCH AND SCALE I WOULD GIVE THE WATCH A 5 STAR RATING BUT THE SCALE IS A 1 STAR RATING. ONLY BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO STOMP ON IT TO ACTIVATE SCALE THEN WAIT TO STEP ON IT, NUMEROUS TIMES A SECOND OR THIRD TIME IS NESSARY FOR A STOMP! SEEING I AM A SINGLE USER THIS IS UNNESSARY. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Please compare before buying Have had this scale for a few weeks, for use between wife and me, was replacing my withings scale after 5-6 years of use. Number of issues, after appropriate programming with instruction manual: - software interaction not user friendly - software doesn’t recognize me and my profile (after setting up as said) - 5 pound weight gains randomly for wife and me on separate occasions - scale died one morning, had to open battery compartment, and re-introduce the new batteries (worked again) Pretty disappointed with this purchase. I own a number of garmin products, all have been high quality, was expecting the same here, not the case. Never had these issues with withings scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Confusing Operation The setup was a nightmare but eventually I got through it. Somehow in the installation it crossed me and my wife so her weight shows up in my Garmin Connect. According to the Garmin instructions I should be able to tap through the list of users until I find me and then use that one. The problem is that my weight only shows her as a user and her weight only shows me as a user I fear that I’ll have to blow out all of the settings and start over. And Having to tap/strike/hit the thing to wake it up feels destructive. My old iHealth scale worked by stepping on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointing Let me start out with the good things I like about the scale, the fact that it uploads your numbers to your Garmin Express app and fits into all your other daily data makes it very convenient to track your progress. The main reason I bought this is because of Garmin's reputation for accuracy, it's disappointing that the one area I'm most concerned about, Body Fat is off. I just completed a body scan then came home and jumped on the scale to compare and the Garmin measured me 4.6% higher than the body scan. That's significant and disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product - missing insights I bought this recently and over all it does perform what is needed to track your metrics. That being said - for me - it is missing insights in the Connect App which cheaper smart scales have. For example, how is your body fat compared to your age bracket. Are you out of a good range with any of your metrics. I would give this 5 stars if the app had those basic features. I do think there was a missed opportunity in that area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrible, bordering on a joke I made the decision to way overspend on a scale to take advantage of the 'smart' features to tell me more on my body composition. It is an absolute joke. I have used the scale more than a year and while my weight has gone up/down/up by some 10# (for normal, healthy reasons as my exercise focus shifts) the scale tells me that my body composition has not changed. So where did this 10# come from or go to? Before buying, do an Internet search on this scales accuracy. I won't repeat here but I discovered many of the same questionable behaviors based on age. I wish I searched before spending the money. It's sad, Garmin was once a gold standard but now more and more of their products are at the bottom of the rankings when compared to others. It does connect to my Connect IQ app which almost earned a second star but on this last software update my scale was totally bricked by the update. At least Garmin quickly replaced it with a refurbished model. I will probably throw the scale away when the batteries die. Not worth a new set of double-As.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the features! I bought this a few weeks ago to measure weight and other metrics. It does that and more. It even tells you the weather for the. It’s a little pricey, and not going to be super precise, but it’s close enough for the average person looking to keep track weight and body fat %. And it uploads to the Garmin Connect App automatically. Great scale!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't Buy This scale never returned a remotely accurate % body fat. It also would just get stuck sync'ing with the app. After hours of time trying to get it to work, I put it in the box and mailed it back. Customer Service was slow and didn't seem to genuinely read my inquiry. Adore my watch though!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should have better UI for the price I like the scale because it is part of the garmin ecosystem, but have had a lot of problems with it. Getting it to change users is difficult. You should be able to step off the scale to scroll through users because it’s difficult to balance and apply the right pressure of taps with one foot. When my wife used it she’d have to scroll through over a dozen guest user icons before she got to herself. She and I are not even within 10 pounds of each other and it thought I was her for a week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed I have been a garmin customer for some time now and I'll just say I'm disappointed to say the least. The index2s won't sync with my garmin connect and when I went to customer service they wanted to charge me money for their help after I already paid 160 dollars for the dang scale! Not happy at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great scale with a clunky switch All the features are great. The ability to switch users, BMI, water, muscle and bone %. The integration to the Garmin Connect app is also great. What is not so great is that you have to tap really hard to turn it on or to change user names. I had to return the first one and got a refurbished one. It works a bit better. After many watches, a great boat computer, I was expecting perfection, yet the scale is not quite there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not actually measure body fat I returned this scale because it did not actually measure body fat. The body fat it displayed was very different than on other scales (twice as much - like I would look very different if true). It seems to use a formula to calculate it, based on age and weight. Whatever or does, it does not actually measure. So, really just a very, very overpriced scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scale My previous scale was so inaccurate in its readings, it wasn’t even funny. The weight was the only thing correct. I can’t honestly say that the extra features of this scale are 100% accurate but I do know that it is much closer than the other scale. I would have to have professional measurements to know how close it is. I like the fact that it’s integrated with Garmin Connect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great integration poor accuracy I love how this scale integrates into the Garmin ecosystem. I use it daily for tracking my weight, but I have found it to be highly inaccurate. When going to my local nutrition shop and getting a body scan completed the body fat percentage was off by 7%. This is built into garmin’s fitness age calculation and recommendations. I have as Garmin recommends, entered the values under my device settings. But, this has not improved accuracy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good but not Great!!! I bought this $200 smart scale to upgrade from my previous Fitbit scale. My wife and I use Garmin watches and had high expectations for this investment. But, the first scale received had connectivity issues and Garmin had to replace it. The second scale works but is not predictable. You may need to step on it 2 or 3 times to wake it up. It sometimes loses connection. Overall, it is not user-friendly like all of my other top-tier tech electronics. Garmin could work to make the beautiful and exceptional hardware better by stepping up the programming and software. My opinion only. I have always been a Garmin fan and this is the one product out of many that I have been disappointed with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best scale ever made Being on dialysis I'm required to measure weight daily. Becoming an athlete again and undoing years of medical trauma my plan includes losing fat and gaining muscle mass. This scale will be able to assist me in knowing that I'm achieving my goal. I love that all data is logged in cataloged to my garmin connect and syncs easily with other health data. The setup was simple. Multiple users are possible and the scale knows who is standing on it. The black model looks amazing and doesn't show foot prints. I couldn't be happier with a scale. It also displays weather data and Temps besides all the health info. Simply perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a smart scale Bought this scale to replace the normal scale we all have in the bathroom. It was pretty simple to set up and sync with the Garmin Connect app that we already use for our watches and bike computers. Had a recent software update that was easy to install as well. Scale works as expected and generates a lot of data besides your weight. Like the feature that it senses who is stepping on it but sometimes it does get confused and you have to manually switch the user. If you have other Garmin products and are a data geek, this scale is for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Difficult to use I purchased the scale for my husband and we’ve had it for about a month. When one of us stands on it, it scans and then tells us to wait and after that it says his name he is generally very tech savvy, and he never had a problem with any Garmin item before, but has not been able to figure out how this scale works. When I stand on it, it counts my readings as his. I’m sure he’ll figure it out at some point, until then everyone else in the house we’ll just stay away from it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great accurate scale I bought this to keep track of my weight journey for 2023. The scale is great with all of the measurements it offers. It seems very accurate as well. I did not give five stars due to having to "kick-start" the scaled very morning to wake it up. I have to stomp the scale each morning for a wake up nudge - there should be someway to avoid having to do this. It seems to work better when my phone is in close vicinity and powered completely on. Other than than, I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Sync with Garmin Connect I received the Garmin S2 Smart Scale as a Christmas Present. It was easy to set up and integrate with Garmin Connect. It is accurate and provides essential data to gauge improvement in fitness. It is easy to access current data from the scale on Garmin Connect. Historical data is also readily available. One minor issue is that the scale does not always register all the data on the first weigh-in, That might be a function of my feet being too dry. But that is my only complaint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This scale is “WEIGH” Awesome! I am an avid Garmin fan having worn their GPS sport watches for well over a decade and back when it looked like I had strapped a computer to my wrist. When the original Index scale came out I bought it and enjoyed its use (however there definitely were some tech glitches and issues with data sync). However the NEW Index S2 Scale has all of those issues resolved plus looks sleeker & has a crisper data screen read-out. My boyfriend and I use it daily and find the data to be extremely helpful with not only our health goals but just life in general since it even shows the outside temperature!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Love This Scale I love that I can climb on this thing and get a weight and then forget about it as that number gets integrated into my Garmin ecosystem. The foot tap is easy, and my scale is on a wood floor so I don't have any issues with imbalances. I already had Garmin Connect running on my phone and a good wifi network so setup was an absolute breeze. The device feels substantial and well made, not cheap. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not as good as the first Index Scale Got the Garmin Index 2 scale as a replacement for my Garmin Index scale from Garmin. Although Garmin's customer service is excellent, the scale isn't very good at all. You have to physically pick the scale up off the floor to activate it and it will only identify 1 person. I've called Garmin's customer service and we walked through all the steps several times to alleviate the issue to no avail. Garmin said they would make a note of it and get back to me if they got the issue resolved. The first Index scale model worked well but I would not recommend the Index 2. The readings aren't as accurate either and it doesn't operate as advertised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Body Fat Way Off I purchased the Garmin Scale as part of a tracking club. We all have wearables, track our data, and compare progress. We look for patterns and trends that we can use to improve our performance. Automatic uploads from the Garmin Scale make it easier for us. Unfortunately, compared to Tanita and Withings scales, the Garmin scale is way off on body fat %. I know my body from from lab testing. Tanita and Withings are 90% accurate. Garmin is not even close. I’m holding onto it in the hopes they will update their algorithm. If not, it will have been a waste of money.

I tried correcting the problem by re-inserting the batteries and resetting the scale without any luck. I even bought new batteries to see if it would correct the problem. Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am very pleased! Set up was incredibly easy. I already have several Garmin tools including an Index BPM, Fenix watch, and various cycling units, so I have Garmin Connect set up and functioning both on my computer and iPhone. Still, I was surprised at how well the scale integrated itself into my system. It seems very accurate, very easy to use, and far better than earlier scales I used from other brands. It was more expensive by quite a bit, but the value was there, and I feel fully justified. It is an elegant, fully functional piece of equipment that I consider vital to my fitness regimen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slow to wake I bought this to replace a competitor smart scale so I could have all my info in the connect app. I like this scale, but my only gripe is it just doesn’t turn on when you stand on it, unlike the competitors scale. With the garmin, you need to “tap” the surface, which basically means banging your foot on it until it wakes up. It’s ridiculous. I don’t understand why they couldn’t have it just wake up when you stand on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Setup is frustrating for multiple users I set this up (primary user), and invited my wife to use it. My kid stepped on the scale and it connected to my wife’s Garmin account. The scale would not recognize my wife post that, because of the weight difference. I factory reset the scale and start the process again several times with the same results. My wife deleted my kid’s weigh-in on the app and on the Garmin website. Same result. After the sixth factory reset, my wife changed her initials when accepting the scale invite. This allowed her to weigh in and properly log her weight on the app. I set up an account for my kid to prevent mistaken identity weigh-ins from occurring again… well… it happened again, but this time it was my account. My kid was not fast enough changing from my initials to hers and it logged her weight as mine. Now it wouldn’t recognize my weight. Surprisingly in a couple of hours I dropped 100 lbs. I deleted the erroneous weigh-in, but from this moment forward… it would not recognize me. So… I had to factory reset one more time and change my weigh-in initials. This was the most frustrating 2 days of system set-up ever. I even called customer support. They recommended I factory reset the scale. FML… Anyways. Got it figured out and now it works like a charm. If you want to play a cruel joke on someone that has this scale, this is how you do it. Step on the scale and select their initials. Make sure you have at least a 20 pound difference between you two. That’ll screw them up for a few days and keep them tied up with customer support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meh... I expected better execution from Garmin Syncing can be tedious. Getting the scale to wake up can be tedious.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not accurate readings My new scale show I went from 23% body body fat to 35% body fat. This does not agree to dexascan and when I called looking for support I was told to just change my body fat in the app to what I want it be. WHAT? Is the scale accurate or not? I am A long loyal Garmin fan but this device is not worth it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hi Tech Weight Scale I have owned this for a month, nice finish and quality. I like the firmware update capability, already installed one update. Sometimes it is slow to respond to take a weight reading but also may be me getting used to it. The best feature in linking to my Garman app is to track progress!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just another scale in my book I am a firm believer in bio-electric impedance technology, as this scale purports to be, and have had body composition tests done before. Previously, I was about 10-15 pounds heavier with not near as much muscle mass. On two separate machines, I was told I was at 16%-20% bodyfat. I am now 10-15 lbs lighter and my muscle mass has increased immensely and visibly. This scale puts me at 34% bodyfat with 16 lbs of bone mass. At a very athletic 6'3"/295 pounds, there is no way my bodyfat and bone mass is that. The scale is calibrated correctly since I checked it against my wife's existing scale, but I wouldn't trust the other metrics measured by this scale. I was disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great way to track weight Have always weighed myself every morning, having the Garmin scale adds the ability to record and review data effortlessly. Also have their blood pressure cuff and can track that also.
