Bought 2 DriveSmart 65's
I bought 2 DriveSmart 65's when I thought the nuvi 1450 I had for over 12 years had failed. I found later it just needed a higher amperage power source or time to fully charge the battery before I tried to update it. Our two Sienna's have built in navigation but it comes with a manual that is 3/4 inch thick and necessary to read to use. Map updates cost more than two good Garmin's whose manual is not needed but useful. The 65's work much the same as the older unit. Easy to program, gets you there on the best path and traffic has saved us several times by avoiding accidents and traffic problems. Great product!!

Great Featries
My Gamin has wonderful feature's but I am unable to figure out how it works. So far I have tried numerous was to get it to work. I have tried putting in names or addresses in my Garmin but it has not worked so hopefully it will work one day. If you have anyone who can call me and give me advise I would appreciate your services.

Very rewarding yes
I’m in love with my DriveSmart 65 w/t and wonder how I got along without it. Even though it comes with few basic instructions I have practically mastered it in just a couple of days. It provides me with so much more than just a map. Road hazards, vocal communication, weather maps with radar, total trip planning, locates food, fuel, and hundreds of other types of useful information. Thank you, Garmin. Now I’m “good to go”.

Better Than Using Your Phone
I bought this unit to make traveling easier, not just with efficient navigation but with additional information of interest or necessity well displayed on a great screen. Great device at a fair price. HIGHLY recommended.

Great improvement
I replaced an older model Garmin with the DriveSmart 65 and I'm happy that I did. The larger screen is easier to read. Traffic alerts me to trouble ahead. I still have things to learn. I would like to preplan a route like I could do long ago with Delorme.

My old Nuvi finally wouldn't load the new map updates. I decided to get a DriveSmart 65. I really like all the things it will do. Excellent replacement choice.

I travel 12 states this includes...
I travel 12 states this includes a lot of dirt roads and Mountaintops for the kind of work that I do. My Garmin Drive Smart 65 and Traffic is on point 95 % of the time every once in a while, it will get confused when I reach high mountaintops but besides that it works really well in towns and highways. Features that I like are speed changes, where speed traps are and the ease to travel state to state.
(The things I don't like about most Garmin's) is the mounting brackets do not like dirt roads it usually ends up on the floor of my truck and when it gets confused on mountaintops.

I purchased this in October of 2022 and have owned 2 other models by Garmin before this one. I have to say, this is the Best of the 3… I love the HEADS UP on oncoming school zones and speed limit changes, along with the TRAFFIC reports. It’s really nice to SEE my PHONE NOTIFICATIONS on screen at a simple glance without taking my eyes off the road… I have the BIG SCREEN view of my Garmin in the center of my dash board, attached to the windshield, and it makes it so easy to check out the information without looking away from the road… You must own one to really see how Great they are!!

Disappointed in Operation
My unit will go into a 'dark mode' that makes it almost impossible to see. It then in a short time, shuts down. All this inexplicably. After a time, when I press the on/off button, it returns to normal. Then it may repeats the 'dark mode' - shut down activity.

When functioning properly it is a great device. It seems to be difficult to maintain bluetooth connection even when the phone is close by. Settings disappear when connection is lost and have to be reset. Time will tell I suppose

Quite an improvement over my 5 year old Garmin
Started to have problems with my old Garmin GPS. Did not want to be on a trip and loose directions. Garmin Drive Smart 65 seems to be a bit larger and brighter.
Only problem I have is setting up traffic.

Trust the Garmin
I purchased the DriveSmart 65 to add to my new car which did not come with a GPS. I drove from LA to CA and the GPS found motels and restaurants along the way. Once I thought it was taking me in the wrong direction and followed my instincts, but I was wrong. The Garmin was right. It is very good at finding nearby businesses. It also guided me around heavy traffic in large metropolitan areas. I love it.

When a GPS is new, it wrongly tells you to go left when it’s right and vice versa. After you find a place and save it, it finds the place just fine. I also feel that they should offer the voice in different accents for fun, for example a British accent!

Won’t boot up after updating and activating
I’m not sure what is going on but I can’t get it to work right after an update and activating issue…it’s just sitting in its box until I get around to sending it back…not what I expected from Garmin.

Satisfied and very functional
Pairing this with the back up camera is ideal for older cars and avoids costly wiring. the ordering process was not so easy as it was difficult to determine just what was compatible with which accessories. Also, there is limited information on line on how to install the back up camera. The features are fine and typical if you are used to the Garmin format. The active traffic is accurate but lags behind Waze in current data.

Bigger screen, more features
Significant improvement over my old NUVI's. Was able to transfer all old data from NUVI 52LM to the Drivesmart 65 using 2 USB cables, and a Win 10 PC running Garmin Express -- great. More features than I've been able to try.

Lots of information
Been using this on a couple of long trips. Works great. One complaint, and it might be me, when a phone call comes in I can’t hear it though this device. I have tried all volumes up, so far no luck. Still trying to figure it out. Over all great product.

When I put in an address it takes me a different route and each time when I switch directions he keeps on wanting me to go a different route which is much longer and out of the way
Also the device tells me the interstate is closed that I was driving on, when it is not, and the device kept on telling me to take the detours. It was a good thing I knew where I was and I knew it was wrong.
I love my old Garmin and it works great never have issues

Liked it but here was my issue. When we came into Colorado on interstate I 76 and the only direction I get is when I turn off I 70 at Grand Junction, 400 miles away. I know now that I 76 turns into I 70 in Denver. So we drove thru Denver, roads covered in snow and watched the signs and never once was I given what lane to be in or anything. Big Help. It gave me lane support thru Chicago on I 80 and we took it all the thru town never getting off I 80 and it gave us lane recommendations all the way. And No Compass. Garmin has been making these products way too long to have this issue. My old was better and was almost 20 years old.

Perfect upgrade
The Drive-Smart 65 purchased to replace a Drive-track 70 which was damaged. Had the Drivetrack refurbished and given to someone who had a Nuvi. The larger screen is a huge improvement and it can be safely be used at speed because the touch is so positive. If you learn and remember all the steps you can operate the glass cockpit without taking eyes off the glide path. I hope the aircraft units are as good.

Turn onto a One-Way Street got instance notice it was night traffic was lite avoid accident.

Best GPS software, much better than google stuff, this unit responds, updates quick, after you miss a turn, or decide to go another way, super accurate, great display, clear info layout...great stuff....super clear directions, and functionality...I like how it tells ya what lanes to stay in on multi lane exits, free updates for LIFE!! Garmin software and products are much better than using a phone....more accurate, and just better response...better programming indeed. Very reliable.

Don't invest in the Europe maps
The Garmin is great in the US; however, it is useless in the UK. Normal navigation aids will locate using the postal code. The European map set can only find major cities and streets. Since much of England is rural, this was an expensive bust.

Love the large print
Have always used Garmin, but this is the best one yet. I can't read it without my glasses. This unit has a ton of features which is great . I do like getting messages displayed right on the screen. The battery does not seem to last as long as others though.

One of the best GPS I have ever used!
The GPS is relatively easy to use and is very accurate. I use it just for fun when driving even when going to places I already know where I am going. I like the traffic warning features comes in very handy. Would recommend this to anyone who wants a GPS!
