Not compatible with windows 11
Works great when used. Updates can only be done on windows 10. Not a good thing when all you have is windows 11. Have to borrow a computer for updates. Per Garmin working on issue.?

Easy to use
I had a Garmin Nuvi 57 before and I gave it to a friend. TheDrive 53 is almost identical and I love it too. Easy to use and navigate. Garmin keeps my unit up to date all the time. I highly recommend Garmin products to anyone

My previous Garmin was a 2014 Nuvi 52 and it lasted 10 years before it crashed (memory full). So, I upgraded to this Smartdrive 53 because it was the same size and I could continue using the case I had. Once I figured out all the features it's been great. I'm a Coach Bus driver and it's a good tool to use on long trips or arrival time to destinations. After using it for a few weeks I do regret not getting a larger model. I hope this one gives me ten years too.

Nice clear colorful screen
I had my old Garmin GPS for over 7 years, so when it would no longer take a charge or download new maps, I looked for a newer model. Really like the 53 with one (minor) complaint - I loved the old one with English accent but could not find it on the 53 - so sad. 53 picks up the satellite really fast and instantly knows where I am located.

Smallish Screen, miss some of the info I'm used to
Nice unit, but the screen is a bit small not allowing for some info I was used to having. The clock is only am/pm, I am used to the 24-hour clock! Overall, I recommend it!

Functional, compact
The screen is clear and bright but a wee bit small compared to the 5.5" units I also have, but quite workable, and is especially useful in applications with limited dash space or when trying to minimize forward view interference. It would be especially great if it would allow portrait mode, but currently does not.

Keeps getting better
I've had other GPSs', but Garmin is the best and I wouldn't own another. The Garmin Drive 53 shows that they keep getting better

I purchased this unit a January 2024 and was money well spent. No mor Google map confusion and wrong way direction.
I only wish I had purchased the larger screen. This is still great unit.

Drive 53 not as good as the Nuvi
I bought the Drive 53 a few weeks ago, and I've not exactly been pleased with it. It is not nearly as user friendly as my old Nuvi 1450 was. It's a lot more confusing to find places and it's a lot less organized as far as routes and waypoints. The documentation for it is pretty poor too. Can't get much help there. Perhaps in time some of this will be sorted out. I hope so.

Big improvement
I currently own a Drive 51 and Drive 52. The Drive 53 is head and shoulders above its predecessors. Calculates faster and has improved software. Very happy with my purchase!

Nice Garmin
I raelly like this unit, with one exception the speaker could be better, I have two others the 52 and 1040 that sound clear and crisp the 53 sounds a bit raspy compared to the others.
But as i stated in the beginning i do like the 53 in all other aspects. hope this helps.

Disadvantage
The main disadvantage with the unit is that when going to a destination and you ask for gas stations or other businesses, it gives you all, even those you passed 20 miles previously. I really want to see those that are along my route and not a distance off of it.
