Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 initial
Have used mini cam for about a month. Impressive recording quality of my local driving.
Will probably purchase a second mini camera for a rear view.
Only suggestion would be that the recordings do not loop once the disk is full. When full, the recordings stop. I don't believe that the camera emits a warning that the disc is full. I would prefer that the newest recordings replace the oldest recordings. There might be a system option for the looping that I have not utilized.
Over all, I would recommend the Garmin Dash Cam Mini.

Bought the Mini 2. Love it. Great image quality and small. Ended up buying two more. One for each car. I also highly suggest buying here on the Garmin site. I shopped around the first time and no better pricing.

It's certainly not intrusive.
I've had window mount cameras for a while. They had a screen to view the image and worked pretty well, but they seemed to be in the way at times. Mounted this one in my Jeep for a while, but now have it on my motorcycle. It will go back in the Jeep one day.

Needs Improvement
I have owned the Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 for several months. I have one installed in the front and one in the rear of my vehicle. I have the same issues with both cams. First, the Garmin app is way too slow to connect to the dash cams, and when stepping through the app is also painfully slow. Second, I have to format the memory cards at least once a month. For some unknown reason, while the cam appears to be functioning, nothing is being recorded on my SD card. I thought there might be something wrong with the cards so ordered a set from Garmin. Same issue. Other than that the dash cams work.

Great features
I have to say that little camera has impressed me more than more expensive cameras. I connected it to constant power and I have no issues with it draining my battery. It shuts down five minutes after I turn off my car and turns on Automatically. It’s so out-of-the-way and hidden that I barely notice it as I’m driving so it’s not a distraction and the quality is great. I ended up putting a polarized lens that is offered through Garmin and the clarity is so much better than when I take it off.

It worked for about a week then wouldn’t sync with my iPhone 13 anymore . I called customer support 3 times to get help and all they would do is offer to email me some trouble shooting options. Then they said there was a software update so I did that and still would not sync with my phone so I gave up and sent it back. I always felt that Garmin was the best of the best but I was greatly disappointed.

Almost perfect for me.
I've had my Mini 2 front mounted on my F150 for about a month now and I'm very happy with it overall: The only thing I'd add is 4K. With no real knowledge of the dash cam market and what was actually available, I imagined a small, black, screenless, discreet unit with a decent wide angle, voice activation, good clarity at night, connection with my phone via app and 4K. I've been using Garmin GPS navigation and communication devices for almost 30 years so I was happy to see they had an option that fit my needs. It quickly became clear the Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 was by far the best option, regardless of not being 4K.

Small convenient size & other small things
Size and price are small, which is nice, but if you want a dash cam for identification you may want to consider it's capabilities such as reading a license plate number. Set up could have been smoother. In other words I needed to contact Garmin customer support to walk me thru it. As with most digital electronics the instructions are not written for someone like me that expects set-up to work slightly less than automatically. Chat support is not a strong point for me either and thankfully Garmin offers phone support which worked very well. Once installed everything is automatic including a feature, which requires a special cable from Garmin, that will monitor the vehicle while parked with the ignition off. If the vehicle gets bumped the camera begins recording and sends a text message that something happened. I get lots a text messages and each one has been generated by me opening the door or closing the trunk even when set to it's lowest sensitivity. I also question the value of this feature. Unless the vehicle gets bumped from the direction the camera is pointed it will not provide a useful photo. I, of course, may be missing the point. I also find I don't need or miss not having a video monitor on the dash cam device itself. When and if I want to look at a video of something that happened while the vehicle was in motion the last thing I should be doing is looking at it while driving. The Mimi II connects, via the Garmin Drive app, to my phone and plays all the Dash Cam videos recorded.
In summary the Garmin Dash Cam Mini II is easy to live with because of it's very small size and this one feature is far greater than any of it's faults. The price is easy to love, it's small and easily moved from one vehicle to another, it works automatically so it's set it and forget it plus an optional feature provides a level of security when the vehicle parked and unattended. On the other side the quality of video does not let me read a license plate number when reviewing the dash cam videos in the higher definition format. If it had better video definition for reading numbers and letters it would almost be perfect.

Dash cams have been needed more than once to aid my insurance company prove fault of the other driver. The Garmin Mini 2 best feature is being able to show Police the video of the accident from my Smart Phone. After an accident I am a little rattled and being able show video with ease is necessary. My only complaint is the Drive App can only be used with Google Play Services turned on. I wish Garmin would make the App not dependent me having a Google account, Google Play Services to be turned on to download and to work on my phone.

Great Camera for the price. It was on sale
I bought this to try out in my car that I drive back and forth to work. Easy to setup and pretty good quality if you view footage via pc. Viewing through the app on my phone is not the greatest and seems to lag.

Received the Garmin Mini as a Christmas gift. Installed it a few days later. Love this little device. So small and inconspicuous. Quality of picture is really good. I like how it responds to voice commands too. I recommend this cam 100%.

Works great. Voice activation is a plus. Hidden behind rearview mirror and don't see the red lights. Have on 24 hours. Can do live view. Vault works well. Video quality is great.The app has no problems. No complaints. And you are getting a garmin so you know you''ll have no problems.

Excellent rear window camera
I use this in the rear window with a 67W in the front. They work together well and are constantly looking out for me... One warning.... I used the suction mount successfully in the front but not in the rear. Garmin doesn't warn you that the suction mount might not work in the rear window due to the embedded rear window heating element which means the glass surface might not be totally smooth. It is not a heat issue... it's the perfect surface needed for the best suction. They even show it mounted on rear heating elements in their video, but we proved it does not stay. If/when you use their small glue mount, try to find the best place where it also won't be mounted on top of heating elements. FYI, you can remove it if necessary, but you can't re-use it once you do. Nice that they give you an extra one...

Cool Little Camera
I would recommend the MINI 2. I had this mounted as a review set up with the parking mode cable and also bought the Polarized Lens Cover. It works really well and I especially like how small and compact it is. The voice command works really well even though it's mounted in the back of my SUV. I'm still trying to navigate the GARMIN Drive APP, just trying to see what the cameras are viewing when I'm not in my vehicle on my phone. Also I should have bought my accessories after I registered my camera because I was offered a discount on the accessories.

Easy Installation
I set this up as a rear camera, the included cable was log enough for my Toyota Avalon and connecting to the Garmin Drive app went as expected.

Excellent interface with Garmin Drive
Compact and unobtrusive it is easily hidden behind the rear view mirror. Garmin Drive allows review and upload to your phone and editing clips. The one drawback is the ability to read license plates with this camera’s resolution. If you upload to a tablet or desktop you may be able to get enough resolution to do this but it this is an important feature you may want to upgrage to a higher resolution model. For the price it’s feature loaded and effective.

So Bad Sent It Back For Refund
After 3 weeks of updates and struggle this unit was sent back for a refund. It habitually would not link with Garmin Drive, it would freeze up and need rebooted this not recording. Its only good feature was its size other than that it’s a shame Garmin put their name on it and took money for it. Don’t waste your time or money get something else.

Frustrating Quirks
I have to turn on the car to power it on, wait 30-seconds for the light to turn red prior to starting the car. If I don’t, the camera locks up and does not record. Did this from day 1

Nice mini dash cam
This is my second dash camera from Garmin. I use it for a rear view. The size is phenomenal. It doesn't attract attention. Very good software. Voice commands are very well designed and functional. It syncs with the front camera and works very well with the parking cable. The image quality is pretty good.. Higher resolution would require a lot more disk space.

Works but sometimes aggravating
It works. Video quality is good. Setup was okay. The app is quite slow to connect. Folders and files are reasonably well organized. I think my card has died, and I cannot reformat a new one. Hope to resolve that. Every few months something like this happens.
Be very careful if you use the constant power cable! If it's loose it may arc and melt! Melting is okay, but fire is not. I bought it to run the camera 24/7 since there are parking issues in my area, but I don't do this since my cable cooked itself.

Great video, easy install, crappy access to the videos the vault just seems like garmin is ripping you off for a monthly fee. The support to get fixes or answers on how to have not been good. Would I get another one?….not without more seamless access to the pics and video, you know, the actual purpose of the dashcam

So far it works great! Paired with app very easily. I use it as a rear view camera.
I have Garmin 66w for the front. I would definatley recommend.

Perfect little camera
I love the design of my little camera. The only reason I gave it a "4" is because I have to reconnect it to my phone every time I get in the car. Plugging and replugging. I don't know if this is what is supposed to happen. This videos and pics are clear and perfect.

It's OK
The usb connector at the camera end should be a type c. I'm using it as a rear camera and there are no usb ports at the rear of my vehicle. The power end should have a way to tap into a 12v source such as a cable with a 12v to 5V converter. Better yet, why not just make the camera 12V? Not all cars have usb ports.

Small Size is Great
I purchased this Mini 2 about a year ago and love the small size vs. the larger gaudy ones, personal preference. It originally wouldn't connect to my Apple phone but recently it did so hit and miss with Apple (or would be 5 star). Works good with my wife's Android.

Fantastic
I bought this camera about 2 months ago. I had witnessed a auto accident in front of me and the driver that caused the accident denied any wrong doing. I had to give a statement to the police and thought how nice it would be to show them the accident. I love the features, small size and quality of video. Best purchase I've made in years.

Does not work as expected
Every time when I go to vault and try to see the videos, I have to wait a long time and see day before videos. I never see the same day videos. The dash cam power is connected to the car battery and parking spot is close to WiFi. However, I never can see anything on my cell phone.

Nice little camera!
My son gave me this for my birthday about a month ago. It is a nice little camera that does just what it is supposed to do! I hope I never need it for accident evidence, but if I do, I will have it! My grandson was in an accident lately and accused of being partly at fault, but when he mentioned he had it all on his dashcam the other party immediately dropped the accusation.

I’m not completely tech savvy, I do alright but I want products that are easy to set up, use, and don’t make me give them too much attention to work consistently and this dash cam seems to fall into that category. So far no complaints.

I have had my dash cam over a year now. Sometimes it will load right away but most of the time it just buffers and goes back to the main menu, i will drive 10 to 20 miles and it will not load, frustrating! I have reloaded the drive app, unplugged and replugged the camera don't know what else to do

Worst Dash Cam
It hard to pair with other devices, so slow downloading video to the phone. If want to back up something you have to pay for a vault. I prefer Nexar all the way.

Mini 2 will not connect to my Android phone
6-15-2023__I have tried all kinds of ways to get this Mini 2 to connect to my One Plus cell phone. No luck, the camera seems to work as it should except for the connection you need for adjusting the visual camera angle needed for best observations. Also, I see it does not have speed or GPS location when I pull the mini SD card for play back. Stick with a model 57, I have 4) Garmin camera's, my "Tandem" didn't last a year and it is dead. But the 2) model 57's still going fine.

Ideal for rear-facing dash cam
I installed in in my rear window to capture the license plate #s of tailgaters. A magnetic mount, in lieu of the included adhesive mount, would be a great improvement for the Garmin Mini Dash Cam.

I have a Garmin dash cam that I love and just got a mini 2 and the mini 2 was the biggest screw up I have done in awhile. What a hunk of junk. I trusted the name and it didn't work out I would return it but I got it for Christmas and my wife doesn't know where the box it came in went . It gets hot it records about 30 minutes and shut's off my other camera and my two GPS's work great very happy with them and I've been looking at some gear for my boat but at this point I'm not sure it'll be Garmin

I will probably give the cam five stars after I understand how to use it. Just finished a four-day tour of West Texas and the cam recorded with great clarity every time I drove the car. On the downside for the moment is the steep learning curve on how to find clips I am interested in reviewing, saving and sharing.

Proven unreliable.
I’ve had 3 of these in the past 5 years; two for me and one for my wife’s car. Bought one more after my first one just to make sure I didn’t get a lemon. It happens. I have experienced intermittent failures where they don’t power up and are unable to power on. They come back on their own for unknown reasons. Also had one that kept failing to write data to the microSD card. Reformatting the microSD card in the device worked sometimes, others not. I reached out to Garmin and was never contacted so their customer service was non-responsive. Had the same level of non-support on a Garmin GPS device.

I recently added the OBD connection so I could record when someone comes around my truck. I don’t think it’s working the way I thought it would. But benefit of the doubt I’ll have to find some time to call Garmin.

Does not work with iOS!
I did all of the steps to troubleshoot the connection process with multiple iPhones and iPads. I received a replacement camera with no success! It is a nice small camera that can be directly connected to your computer for video recall, but if you are looking for the next generation connectivity to your iPhone, this certainly is not the dash cam! I am a huge Garmin fan and have multiple devices that work flawlessly. This minicam 2 is uncharacteristic for the Garmin lineup and should be discontinued.

This has been a fantastic product. It captured a major wreck that was not our fault and was shared with Law Enforcement and Insurance company. This made it so we did not get a rate increase.

Stopped working after update
I ve got 2 Garmin Dash Cam mini 2, one for front andone for back. I ve got a message that i should update the units. Got the updates in Garmin Express and after that the both units stopped working
