Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to implement with good integration and lots of features What is most valuable? The Fabric aspect of the solution is excellent. With it, we have more accuracy in the classification. All the other functions and features on FortiMail are great. I love them all. It's really solid. All of the principal features on the market can be found in this product. I love the integration between Fortinet products. It's easy to set up. What needs improvement? The categorization of the emails, for example, from Brazil, could be better. In the Latin America market, some spam messages use Portuguese language. Some clearly spam messages would be better identified by the anti-spam if not for the language. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for about five years. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have three organizations on the solution. there might be as many as 1,000 people across them. How was the initial setup? The solution is pretty simple to set up. It's fast to deploy. In six hours we can deploy it. If you have experience in access with another component of the company, you will be fine. We did not find it to be complex. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Typically, we pay for the solution on a yearly basis. I cannot break down exact costs as another area of my organization deals with licensing. What other advice do I have? I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. We are happy with its capabilities and its features. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock solid stability, excellent user friendly features, with technical support covering all the bases What is our primary use case? It is an email security solution used to protect the email from spam, phishing, and URL redirection attacks. I used to place Fortinet FortiMail just after their internet server. So they create multi-layered architecture to protect their servers, their users, or SMTP servers from spam emails. One of the users is only using Fortinet FortiMail to relay the outbound email because he is facing some issues. The mailbox they have is not able to send bulk emails, for example, at the bank, they used to send bulk emails regarding some offers or advertisements. The SMTP server must be expandable email. What is most valuable? They have a feature called CDR, Content Disarm, Reconstruction, click protection, and DLP for encryption purposes. What needs improvement? I have faced issues from one of the customers that they received spam emails. I think they need to look into it and improve their signatures. They can do this by adding more signatures to block spam emails. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with Fortinet FortiMail for the past three years now. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It is stable and we have not experienced any technical issues with Fortinet FortiMail. How are customer service and support? Technical support is very good. How was the initial setup? They provide two types of Fortinet FortiMail. The first one is the box you need, the hardware. You just have to mount it in the rack and there is a configuration, actually, that you have to learn. If I am going to configure that it will take three to four hours. Then we can launch it live and move it into the production environment. Then there are other solutions that are VM-based and their configuration is the same, but the two differences are that it is not a physical box but a virtual machine and requires designing like ESXi or Hyper-V. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Fortinet FortiMail has an annual license agreement. What other advice do I have? I would rate Fortinet FortiMail an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Partner

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comprehensive solution that's easy to set up What is our primary use case? I use FortiMail for email security, ransomware and phishing protection, risk and compliance, security, and automation. What needs improvement? FortiMail's dashboard is somewhat complex and could be made simpler. Its integration could also be easier. For how long have I used the solution? I've been working with FortiMail for four to five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? FortiMail is a stable product. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? FortiMail is scalable. How are customer service and support? Fortinet's support system lags behind the rest of its offerings and needs to be fine-tuned and polished. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? FortiMail has extra charges for installation, configuration, and project management. What other advice do I have? I recommend FortiMail to other users and rate it eight out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from User-friendly interface, helpful online resources, and excellent technical support What is our primary use case? We are using Fortinet FortiMail as our email gateway. How has it helped my organization? Before implementing Fortinet FortiMail, our organization struggled with a high volume of spam emails. However, since deploying this product, we have seen a complete eradication of spam and have been able to function more efficiently as a result. As a utility company in the capital city of Kenya, it is crucial that we are able to communicate effectively and avoid any unnecessary distractions, and this solution has allowed us to do just that. What is most valuable? The key benefits of this solution are its user-friendly interface and clear instructions, as well as the wealth of online resources and helpful health community available for support. These features make it easy for users to navigate and utilize the solution effectively. What needs improvement? The solution's pricing is flexible and can be adjusted for African utility companies. Microsoft often offers special pricing formulas for African governments and organizations and it is similar to Fortinet FortiMail. In my country, government institutions receive discounted pricing from Fortinet FortiMail. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Fortinet FortiMail for one and a half years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. It has never crashed once in and the half years we have been using it. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable because we were able to increase the number of emails without any issues and we can continue using the solution without any problems. We have approximately 3,500 users using this solution. How are customer service and support? Some examples of the technical support provided for the solution include addressing my initial setup questions and helping me navigate the steep learning curve. As a result, I was able to become more proficient in using the solution and the need for further escalation decreased. I rate the support from Fortinet FortiMail a ten out of ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We did not use another solution prior to Fortinet FortiMail. However, our ISP did handle the anti-spamming for us. How was the initial setup? The initial setup of the solution was easy to accomplish. The engineer took only a few hours to complete it, starting in the afternoon and finishing by 5:00 pm. What about the implementation team? The solution was implemented by a third-party engineer from Fortinet FortiMail East Africa. After setting it up, he trained me on how to support it. In case of any issues, he was always available to provide assistance. What was our ROI? The solution's ROI can be seen in the decrease in spam emails, which previously caused the exchange server to shut down and disrupted communication with customers. This led to a decrease in monthly collections, but the implementation of the solution allowed for 24/7 communication and stabilized the end-of-month collections. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We paid approximately $30,000 for the solution. It is less expensive than some other solutions. We have one license that carries all the features that we wanted. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We evaluated Checkpoint. We chose Fortinet FortiMail because of its cost-effective pricing and ease of deployment and maintenance. The technical maintenance and troubleshooting were also simpler compared to Checkpoint. What other advice do I have? I do the maintenance of the solution. It requires updates every few months. If somebody wants a good solution that is cost-effective and works well, I would recommend Fortinet FortiMail. I rate Fortinet FortiMail a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful in securing mail releases with an excellent user interface What is our primary use case? Our primary use case for this solution is securing mail releases, as it serves as our central server. For example, multiple domains have multiple mail services. To authenticate the request coming from the mail service, we require security to implement Fortinet FortiMail and establish the mail request. All domains are added to Fortinet FortiMail, and the primary protection for all domains is done with Fortinet FortiMail. We deploy the solution on a private cloud. How has it helped my organization? In some of our research facilities, research teams use multiple mail services to research mail servers. This solution can be used in the local domains since Fortinet FortiMail can authenticate every mail server, thereby solving blacklisting issues. Typically this global blocklisting happens when our unauthenticated emails come from our domain and public APs. So, when unauthenticated emails come from the public AP, they blacklist the public AP. Through Fortinet FortiMail, we can perfectly authenticate each local mail service and mail release so that only authenticated mail goes out from our domain. What is most valuable? The anti-spam feature is very valuable. For example, recently, some recent spam mails were correctly blocked by Fortinet FortiMail. Additionally, the solution has an excellent user interface. What needs improvement? The solution could be improved by providing a virtual machine facility with a complete set of options in the VM setup and by enhancing the clarity of the information supplied for content filtering. Additionally, in the next release, we would suggest that Fortinet FortiMail be added as an add-on to Fortinet Firewall itself. It can be included as a module and added to the Fortinet Firewall. For how long have I used the solution? We have been using this solution for eight years and are currently using the latest version. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable. We have between 5,000 and 10,000 users using the solution in our organization. How are customer service and support? Our experience with customer service and support has been moderate. I rate it a six out of ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? The initial setup was difficult so we used Fortinet support to guide us through implementation. Deployment took three days. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the exact licensing price as the accounting department handles it, but it is more expensive than most competitors. What other advice do I have? I rate this solution an eight out of ten. The solution is good but can be improved by including a virtual machine facility with a complete set of options in the VM setup and enhancing the content filtering feature. My advice to new users of this solution would be to use Fortinet and FortiMail together because they are super tools when combined. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has a good anti-spam feature, competitive pricing, and easy to scale on VMs, even when there's a dramatic increase in client requirements What is our primary use case? We're using Fortinet FortiMail for general purposes. It's for analyzing mail, stopping attacks, and stopping all SPAM. What is most valuable? The biggest implementation my team has done for Fortinet FortiMail was for more than five thousand people, and the most valuable feature was its anti-spam feature. What needs improvement? It's difficult for me to talk about areas for improvement in Fortinet FortiMail because I'm the general manager of the company and I'm an engineer with knowledge about the solution, but I'm not deeply involved in its implementation. As I mentioned previously, Fortinet FortiMail is also being used within the company, and I'm happy with its functionality, but sometimes, attacks pass and avoid the Fortinet FortiMail filters, but those could be very sophisticated attacks. There could still be an improvement in the filtering feature of the solution, though the security of Fortinet FortiMail is okay for me because I believe you can't implement one hundred percent security in any solution. The initial setup for the solution also needs improvement. The setup is supposed to be simple, but then the customer starts to complain that some of the false positive emails are reaching quarantine, so my team has to configure it again. There have been instances when Fortinet FortiMail rejects valid emails because some of the service partners of the customer have not been configured accurately, so the system considered valid mails as attacks to be quarantined, so aside from improving the filters, there should also be an improvement in the categorization of emails in the server. My team has to modify the configuration so that valid emails could pass and for Fortinet FortiMail to correctly filter the SPAM traffic. A feature that could be added to Fortinet FortiMail in its next release is advanced AI, so it can analyze and decide accurately on which mail is valid and which mail is SPAM. For how long have I used the solution? My company has two projects with Fortinet FortiMail. One project is three years, and the other is a big project that's been running for one year now. The solution is also being used in-house within my company. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Fortinet FortiMail is a stable product, particularly based on functionality. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? In terms of the scalability of Fortinet FortiMail, it depends on the implementation because you have two types of implementation, the virtual machine, and the appliance. If you're using the appliance, you have to think about the future, for example, maybe now the customer needs a certain level of traffic to be filtered, then in two or three years, the level of traffic needs to increase, so you have to propose a bigger machine that can handle the evolution in traffic. In the VM implementation, you also need to take some steps, for example, you have to figure out the server type, number of CPUs, RAMs, and OPS requirements, based on the level of traffic and request level. It's easier to upgrade or scale on VMs, even if the client requirements increase dramatically. How are customer service and support? Fortinet FortiMail offers two types of support, standard and elite. Standard support is paid annually. My company has the elite type of support which means there's a dedicated person to solve issues. The standard support team usually recommends upgrades to solve the problem instead of doing a deep dive into it, even if you give them sufficient information about the problem. The elite support team responds quickly and gives you higher-level and more professional support, but you have to pay extra for it, on top of the standard fees. On a scale of one to five, with one being the worst, and five being the best, my rating for Fortinet FortiMail support is a four. How was the initial setup? The initial setup for Fortinet FortiMail was complex. It was complex because you have to collect all the right information from the customer, then you need to put it into the equipment as rules, so it's complex. The solution also evolves, and from time to time, you have to fine-tune it to implement the new features and increase the level of security. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I have no information on pricing for the competition because right now, my company is working only with Fortinet, but I can say that in general, the price for Fortinet FortiMail was accepted by the customers easily. The POC is also important when a customer is buying a solution. The customer wants to see how the product runs, and as Fortinet FortiMail is a stable product that runs without big issues, it has a bigger chance of getting chosen by customers over its competitors, even if its price may be a little higher. Pricing for the solution is competitive. Sometimes it's less, sometimes it's a little bit higher, but it isn't far from what other solutions charge. What other advice do I have? The Fortinet products I have experience with include FortiGate and FortiAnalyzer, and I especially work with Fortinet FortiMail. My company is a partner and integrator for Fortinet FortiMail. My rating for Fortinet FortiMail, on a scale of one to ten, is a nine. Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Partner / Integrator

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A gateway security solution that needs to offer grace period after license expiration What is our primary use case? We use the tool as a gateway security solution. What is most valuable? Fortinet FortiMail is a complete product addressing mail security concerns. It helps to know spam subscriptions and create restriction policies. What needs improvement? The security products stop their operations once the subscription period expires. It is a wrong policy. If I trust a product, it has to continue working even after expiry. It should have a grace period of 30, 40, or 60 days. We can extend the subscription during those days. In some places, subscription extensions can take up to six weeks. During the renewal process, the support offered by the company is very poor. It also reduces security. We pay for the expired period but do not get protection during those times. The user of Fortinet FortiMail should have a feature to see spam names. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for 15 years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable except for the downtime due to the subscription extension. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Scalability is poor for tools that are clubbed with hardware. How are customer service and support? The tool's vendor support is poor. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? A person setting up the tool must have the technology and domain experience. The preliminary deployment can happen within three to six hours. The tool's fine-tuning happens over one to two weeks. What other advice do I have? I rate the product an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? On-premises Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An easy-to-use email solution with reasonable pricing and user-friendly interface What is our primary use case? We use this solution to put the server on the FortiMail server. Users acquire a domain, and use emails from the the FortiMail server. What is most valuable? The solution has a user-friendly interface. It is easy to deploy and handle. You can easily troubleshoot the issues of the solution. What needs improvement? The product should work on licensing and provide more detail once the license is selected for the customer. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Fortinet FortiMail since last month. We are a partner of Fortinet. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Fortinet Fortimail is a very stable product. I have compared it with Barracuda devices, and they filter mail servers. Customers prefer Barracuda, but I propose the FortiMail server. Barracuda is expensive compared to FortiMail. I ensure support to customers during the deployment times if they go with Fortinet. I rate the solution’s stability a nine out of ten. How are customer service and support? Support is very good. They provide timely support to the customer. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have used Barracuda but it is more expensive than FortiMail. How was the initial setup? The solution’s initial setup is configurable and easy to manage and handle. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Fortinet Fortimail has reasonable pricing. What other advice do I have? FortiMail is easy to integrate, deploy and troubleshoot the issue. I always recommend it to the customer. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very powerful solution that can be used to protect emails from spam attacks What is our primary use case? Fortinet FortiMail is a very powerful product we use to protect our emails from spam attacks and malicious emails. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiMail is its fully detailed dashboard. Fortinet FortiMail is fully integrated with other Fortinet products, including the firewall, the analyzer, and the manager. What needs improvement? Fortinet FortiMail's pricing could be improved. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Fortinet FortiMail for three years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Fortinet FortiMail is a very stable solution. I rate Fortinet FortiMail ten out of ten for stability. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Around 130 to 180 users are using Fortinet FortiMail in our organization. I rate Fortinet FortiMail ten out of ten for scalability. How are customer service and support? Fortinet FortiMail's technical support team is very supportive. Rated 5 out of 5 by from With a great interface and exceptional integration capabilities, the product also offers good stability What is our primary use case? In my company, we use Fortinet FortiMail for its email security capabilities. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of the solution is its interface, allowing users to get around the solution easily. The integration capabilities in the solution are also very easy. What needs improvement? There is not much about the solution that I would like to improve. I am satisfied with what the solution has to offer. Fortinet FortiMail's technical support team has shortcomings and needs improvement. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using Fortinet FortiMail for two years. I use the solution's latest version. I am an end user of the product. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Scalability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten. Though unsure, more than 500 people in my organization use the solution. How are customer service and support? I rate the technical support a seven out of ten. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? The solution is deployed on AWS Cloud, which is a private cloud. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? Price-wise, you get what you pay for in Fortinet FortiMail. Apart from the licensing costs, no additional expenses are attached to the solution's pricing. What other advice do I have? Maintenance is needed for the solution when its license expires or when they change the product's interface, after which there is any need to get a new license before upgrading the product. Four engineers in my company are involved with the maintenance of the product. Whether I recommend the solution to another person depends on the size of that person's organization since the bigger the organization is, the more struggle involved in using the product. I rate the overall product an eight out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Private Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Amazon Web Services (AWS) Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has a SPAM filtering feature and gives better protection against SPAM, phishing attempts, and ransomware; provides good support What is our primary use case? We use Fortinet FortiMail primarily for our email security. We're also using the solution for its anti-spam, antivirus, and sandbox features. How has it helped my organization? Fortinet FortiMail has been beneficial to my company. In the past, there were a lot of SPAM and phishing attempts, but after Fortinet FortiMail was implemented, it gave better protection against SPAM, phishing attempts, and ransomware. The solution detects emails received from non-reputable sources. You can also finetune Fortinet FortiMail based on your requirements. For example, the solution used to quarantine even safe emails, but after finetuning it, Fortinet FortiMail now only blocks and quarantines unsafe emails. What is most valuable? Fortinet FortiMail has a lot of valuable features. It works great. It also has an antivirus feature. Support for Fortinet FortiMail was also great when my team wanted to block some geographic IPs, but couldn't figure out how to do it. The support team provided clear communication on how to resolve that issue. Another valuable feature of Fortinet FortiMail is SPAM filtering which tells you how many spammy emails you've received. Based on my current use cases, I'm happy with Fortinet FortiMail. What needs improvement? What's missing in Fortinet FortiMail is some sandbox information for some of the emails. It's probably configuration-based, where it could be configured on some emails. For example, there was malware in some emails that weren't detected in some of the Fortinet FortiMail sessions, but it should have been configured from my company's end to better catch scam emails, but overall, the solution is okay. At the moment, my company is okay with the current Fortinet FortiMail offerings, but in the past, because of a lack of understanding, my team wasn't able to quickly implement the geographical IP blocking feature. It was time-consuming to implement that feature, but that wasn't a fault of Fortinet FortiMail. The issue was from my team's end, but just by emailing the support team, that issue was resolved, so right now, there isn't any additional feature I'd like added to Fortinet FortiMail. For how long have I used the solution? We started using Fortinet FortiMail just this year, in particular, in March. What do I think about the stability of the solution? Fortinet FortiMail is a stable solution. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Fortinet FortiMail is a scalable solution. How are customer service and support? The Fortinet FortiMail team provided great support. On a scale of one to five, I'll give it the highest score, which is five. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? Though I wasn't part of the team that installed Fortinet FortiMail, my impression was that the installation was straightforward because it had some documentation on how to do it, and it was easy, so you won't have much trouble installing Fortinet FortiMail. You just need to learn the dashboard first, which is normal for first-time users of any other application. The solution did have a very user-friendly GUI. Fortinet FortiMail implementation didn't take long. You first put it on the testing platform with a test domain, then you implement it in a production environment, where you'll learn how to use it, and determine how to best put the solution in production. Next, you set up or orient email traffic to the platform, then let the admins and Fortinet FortiMail support team do the work in terms of finetuning the solution and figuring out how to implement it based on company requirements. Though I don't have exact information on how long the deployment took, it was just a short period. For example, for Fortinet FortiMail to be up and running, it took just a couple of days. What about the implementation team? My company worked with Fortinet FortiMail support in implementing the solution in the test environment, then in production. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? My company has a three-year license for Fortinet FortiMail, including the support, but I'm not so sure of how much the solution costs because I'm not part of the procurement team. What's more important to me is the functionality and stability of Fortinet FortiMail. In terms of Fortinet FortiMail licensing, the cost is calculated based on company requirements. For example, it's based on the features you need for your environment, on capacity, how many CPUs you have, etc. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We evaluated other options before deciding on Fortinet FortiMail. We tested Fortinet FortiMail first, discussed it with others, then went with Fortinet FortiMail. What other advice do I have? My company is using the latest version of Fortinet FortiMail. Approximately six hundred to seven hundred people have mailboxes within the company, but in terms of Fortinet FortiMail usage, my company has five administrators for it. Two administrators deal with cybersecurity issues and security checks, then the other two administrators focus on the network, while a system administrator deals directly with product health. I'd say that there are three standard users of Fortinet FortiMail and two backup users. I would recommend Fortinet FortiMail to others looking into implementing the solution for business purposes. My rating for Fortinet FortiMail is ten out of ten. My company is a customer of Fortinet FortiMail. Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
