Fellowes LX210 - shredder is rated 4.10 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst Purchase Ever I rarely write reviews; but I do given issues that have arisen with the Powershred LX 201 Micro-Cut Shredder. The shredder has fine safety features and if one can get it working, does what it is intended to do - cross cut. My reason for giving this one, and not five stars, is there is also a lot of cheap plastic that easily breaks, and for the one I got, even when the basket was FULLY locked in place, the shredder either would not operate - or if I was lucky and got it to operate for a moment (not even a minute), it stopped automatically if one doesn't hold the basket door tightly closed. I have now learned through a picture Fellowes Customer Service sent me today that the locking mechanism is likely missing and broke off before I ever received the shredder. That a locking mechanism can break off of an expensive shredder is disappointing. Inadequate construction! As for the cheap plastic, I ordered the shredder in 2022 from Amazon (first mistake, I should have ordered it directly from Fellowes) and it was shipped in double boxes with a lot of protection. I unexpectedly had access to another shredder for a few years when I ordered the shredder and in hindsight, I stupidly didn't take it out of the inner box until August 2025 (when the two year warranty expired). I did so extremely carefully and I stored the box in a safe space in my home office where nothing touched it. When I opened the box and took the shredder out, and removed the wrapping, at the bottom of the basket, it seemed to me the electric cord was not in the plastic wrapping and there were four broken pieces of plastic from what appeared to be each side of the basket drawer. The shredder would not work as those parts broke off (and at that moment, I didn't know the locking mechanism was missing). I wrote to Fellowes customer service with pictures of the broken basket, the four broken plastic pieces I found in the bottom of the basket, and other identifying information (including my order through Amazon). Fellowes Customer Service responded promptly on the first business day after I wrote. Fellowes Customer Service has been helpful as they confirmed my assessment that the basket would not lock due to the broken pieces, and also that my warranty was expired (unfortunately, that was due to my stupidity in not taking this out of the box when I first ordered it). Fellowes Customer Service provided the part number for a new basket and the number of the Fellowes' parts department where I could order a new basket (at my expense). I called the Fellowes Parts Dept and ordered a new basket (and paid for the basket, tax and shipping) and it was shipped to me promptly by the very pleasant parts representative. I received the new basket a few days after I ordered it. I informed Fellowes Customer Service that even when the basket is FULLY locked in place (and one hears the clicks that it is locked in place), the safety feature stops the shredder unless one holds the basket door tightly closed. After more back and forth with Fellowes Customer Service, they advise that some Amazon reseller sent me the shredder not Fellowes. And, the locking mechanism is missing has now become apparent to me after further pictures from Fellowes Customer Service. This is incredibly frustrating and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. I now have come to the conclusion I received from the Amazon seller (not Fellowes) a previously returned shredder that was damaged and put in a new box. I thought I was getting it from Fellowes as I remember researching and choosing this shredder. I am out over $400 for a shredder that is inoperable. But, even with the rip off to which I have been subjected, I do know the basket plastic is weak in those critical places. And the locking mechanism clearly broke off. So it speaks to poor quality. I am beyond angry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most Excellent Purchase Purchasing this product is the most excellent choice. I have had several shredders and this particular one by far out does all of my previous purchases. I would definitely recommend this one to my friends and colleagues. Staples has a superb Protection Plan, not that I'll need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement Shredder I had a previous Fellowes shredder which I was extremely happy with. After seven years it died. I purchased a different shredder that I was not totally happy with. I purchased an additional Fellowes shredder based on my previous experience. It works well with the exception of a constant clicking / tapping noise when in use. I thought maybe it needed to be oiled. That did not solve the problem. I also emailed Fellowes to inquire as to whether or not cards could be shredded. I never received a response.
