The Epson Perfection V600 Photo features a built-in Transparency Unit (TPU) that supports full panoramic medium format film. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did I buy another Epson boat anchor?I purchased this scanner because I had to replace a fully functional Epson Perfection 636U that is no longer supported with current drivers by Epson. Upon setting up this unit I immediately received a notice from Apple that Epson has not yet upgraded the V600 software to run Apple 64 bit drivers and that Apple's next software update will no longer support 32 bit devices which this scanner apparently is. I will not be a happy camper if Epson has no plans to support this scanner with further driver updates for Apple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ScannerI have had it for one month and am still trying to learn how to use it. The software is more involved than my previous scanner and therefore takes some getting used to. But it does seem to work as it was designed to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent scannerI have been using Epson printers and scanners for years. The V600 is wonderful. Scanning is of great quality. The ice feature is great but takes a long time. That is the only downside. The film scanning is outstanding. I am a professional photographer and I do a lot of restorations and this scanner is just what I need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from V-600 LED (EPSON)LED, this is a very good move in the right direction. With LED there is no wait time for the bulb to warm up. It helps you get right to work immediately, and there is not a chance of color inconsistency. If you need a wallet size or an 8x10, it will scan it easily. If you are scanning slides, from 120/220 down to 135mm, the V-600 will get it done. 5 stars for this baby! It is Perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Starting ScannerI installed the software disc, and set up the scanner. However, when pushing any of the buttons to start the scan, or clicking on the Epson Icon, it quits without doing anything! Not a great start! Help?(I've looked at the guide, but have not found a solution to try.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Photo ScannerAfter several months of research, I bought the Perfection V600 in February to digitize my family photo albums, which were literally crumbling from age. This scanner allowed me to scan, restore color, and make other corrections in a single step. The results are excellent, and I will be giving commercially printed copies to each of my children for Christmas this year. Couldn't have done it with the scanner I had before this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OkayI purchased to update an older Epson scanner I have had for many years and would have continued to use if it would have worked with my new laptop. The V600 was easy to set up and has worked fairly well. It has locked up a couple of times. Also I have found it does not scan all size negatives easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good ScannerThis scanner works well and is pretty easy to set up and use. The only problem with it is that there is no Windows 10 driver available for the scanner, so it is sort of a "legacy device."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Color RestoredI love my new Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner. I have scanned many photos and found the color restoration feature and have restored the color to so many of my faded photos. This was such an unexpected feature that has really enhanced my photos. Thank you Epson.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullSo far I have been able to scan 1950's black & white negatves and it's done a great job of doing that at a speedy pace. I have not scannned anything else yet. I like that you can put 4 at a time and it singles them out for you. The negatives that I have scanned have been reverted to a positive image in Picasa.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, but!I bought this unit to upgrade from an older Epson unit and I am using it on two Windows 10 Pro machines. Having difficulty downloading the right software and drivers. Most features work but I get an on screen notice saying "drivers not installed" when I try to use the Smart Panel feature. Nothing on-line seems to help.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seamless with PC - No so with MACThis is a great scanner for the price and I would give it 5 Stars if not for the trouble I had getting it to work on my iMAC.The install from the disc provided with the scanner was super easy, however, the scanner just sat there afterwards and did nothing. After reading several blogs etc, I determined that the drivers on my disc were likely outdated so I had to find the "Uninstall" utility on the Epson website, uninstall the Epson software I had just installed, download the new drivers from Epson and reinstall. You would think Epson could have warned that this might be a problem or simply have you go to the website to download the drivers instead of supplying a disc that doesn't work on all Operation Systems. On my PC it was a seamless install as the operating system I have on it is older. As far as operation this scanner is the best I have ever used. Software is easy to use, it is fast, it will scan several photos at once giving each it's own individual file number, etc. Everything works better than advertised! If you are looking for a great scanner at a great price, this is a winner!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and accurateMy 3170 was good at scans but took a little time from start to scan. The V600 doesn't "warm up" and goes directly to scan, saving a couple of seconds. Images are very accurate and captures sharper. Will scan legal size (11x14) documents. One of the best single page scanners I've used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson = ExcellenceAlways loved Epson products. This V600 Photo scanner is performing nicely. Software takes a bit more browsing, to find the right settings for saving images, but I'll train myself! I'll give it 4 stars, and reserve 5 for better software. Actually, the previous versions were easier to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact, light and ready to use. This scanners has the perfect size for a small desk hile having great features for the photography enthusiast. Great for scanning prints for archiving in digital form.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this scannerDid past scanning with my HP printer/scanner---a cumbersome, lengthy, and less than adequate procedure. Scans with HP were NOT true to color and it took forever. The Epsom machine scans quickly, with good results. Since I am still learning, what I would like to be able to do is edit a little bit more before scanning---I am either not smart enough to do that yet, or that is beyond it's limitations. Would definitely recommend this unit to an "amateur" scanner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blue/green line appeared in scans.Brand new scanner, and put through 250 or so 35mm color slides and noticed a blue/green line suddenly appearing? Reinstalled software, no change. Looked for update driver and the newest is 2013 copy....Seriously! They must want you to purchase a current 3rd party driver?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute Life Saver!I have thousands of negatives both 35mm and medium format that I have not been able to print throughout the years. Some are personal, but the majority of my negatives are professional works I've had in galleries. The Espon V600 scanned my images with absolute clarity and resolution beyond my expectations. I am absolutely grateful I bought this scanner. My PC died 2 days ago and just bought an iMAC 27" screen. Can't wait to scan my work on my new computer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullThe V600 is easy to use. Photos do not to have to be strait when scanning, V600 automatically straitens them for you; also, you are able to scan multiple photos at one time and V600 will separate them so you have individual photos instead of a group of photos on one page. In the professional mode, I am able to edit each photo, as I deem necessary. When scanning negatives or slides I am able to scan two strips of six negatives at one time, the same with slides.I am most satisfied with the V600 scanner, Thank you for a product well done.Dean

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very satisfiedI bought my scanner about two years ago, when I started a project to scan all of my parent's slides and photos. Most of the slides were ektachrome and the colors had changed over time. I used the "ice" settings to renew the color. It did a fantastic Job! Over-all, I scanned over 7000 slides and photos, the collection spanned well over 60 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great for detailed artworkThis scanner is great for scanning detailed scratchboard artwork. I can get great resolution and see individual scratches that are not visible with even a high quality camera. This is very useful for showing off detailed artwork to buyers. I think this should be high enough quality to produce a giclee print from. It's also a cinch to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get this one!I love this scanner. It is so much faster than my Epson Perfection 4490 photo that I had used for a decade. The software is excellent and, if you have other Epson products connected - like I do, it's nice to have one piece of software for all devices that scan. I really like the digital ice for photos. Many scanners have color restoration software but only for slides and negatives not photos, too. This scanner also comes with a nice long cord which is handy. The scan quality is excellent - which is really what counts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson Perfection V600 ScannerThis scanner produces excellent results for copying documents, photographs, and film from 35 mm to medium format. Operating modes range from the quick and simple fully Automatic to Professional mode allowing a wide range of controls over the final results. I am presently scanning my large collection of Hasselblad transparencies dating from 1974. I control the scanner through Photoshop CS. This scanner, in the professional mode, performs excellently and the resulting digital images require little or no manipulation in Photoshop.

I have Windows 7 operating system. I put the install disk in the computer, followed the on screen directions and within 15 minutes I was scanning both photographs and slides with excellent results. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good scannerI received my new Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner Friday, and have been using it over the weekend. For about five years, I've been using an Epson Perfection 3170 photo scanner, and have found that the V600 has a very similar interface but with more robust capabilities than my previous scanner. I'm quite pleased that the V600 has such high resolution capability, as I'm mainly scanning color negatives at present. I did have a few problems with the scanner locking up on me, and am not sure quite yet why that was, but as I use it more and get more familiar with it, I'm enjoying it more. I'm very pleased about what I got for what I paid. Good value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ProductI just got this in the mail the other day and I couldn't wait to use it on a bunch of black and white negatives that I had. I couldn't be happier with the scanner. It provided excellent sharpness and clarity to the negatives and did it in a reasonable amount of time. I would recommend this scanner to ANYONE!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great scannerI've been using my scanner for about a week now. I am very satisfied with it's simplicity and quality scans. I am scanning 35mm slides, 127 slides (2" x 2") , and 126 slides (instamatic). All are turning out very good using the automatic mode with the template. Sometimes I have to change the position of the 127 slides in the templete (sideways or upside down) to get a satisfactory image. I haven't used the photo shop or any other fix-it software because the results are good just with the automatic setting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile and fastThis scanner installs seamlessly under WIN-XP . The native Epson software works fine as do VueScan and Abby Fine reader. I expect that the software installation for Linux will be just as good: Epson support for Linux was very important factor in my choice of this scanner The V600 replaces my Epson GT-8500 which although working fine, has a much lower resolution (400 dpi), and a measurably bigger footprint on the desk.

Its scans have been sharper than I expected with better contrast than I expected. Its color color accuracy has also been welcome. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid performer with a few minor issuesBought this to scan several thousand photos from 48+ years of marriage. Had some minor startup issues: 1) Scan button would not start scanner, but desktop icon did - reboot of system fixed this issue; 2) ABBYY FineReader that is included on the installation disk is version 9.x and IS NOT compatible with Microsoft Office 2013 (and possibly others) and will cause MS Office to crash. I had to uninstall ABBYY and remove the COMs from office (info online). I will say that Epson customer support (email) was very responsive to both my inquiries (button not responding and ABBYY). With the ABBYY FineReader they sent a link to a newer version that did not cause any issues. When scanning multiple pictures at a time (in auto mode), it sometimes will scan two (occasionally three) pictures as a single picture even though they are spaced on the scanner bed. This is usually fixed by moving the offending pictures to other areas of the scanner bed or scanning fewer pictures. On rare occasion, it appears the scanner starts on its own...or perhaps I brushed against one of the scanning buttons...Overall, I am very pleased with the scanner and the software works much better than older versions I have used over the years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Faster & Even Better Epson Perfection ModelI've been thinking about getting an upgrade from my V330 for several years and finally got the V600. It is a little larger (length) than the older one which means I had to set it up on the top of my credenza instead of inside a cabinet. But that's okay. It is quieter and much faster and I think the PDF's are clearer. I'm enjoying it and should not have waited so long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VersatilityI bought two Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanners for my business. I needed a scanner that can scan photos, negatives of many sizes, slides, and various documents. I recently scanned the class photos of an entire senior class from a yearbook. They turned out great. And I've only begun to scratch the surface of what this scanner is capable of. Small enough for home. Big enough for business. I could not be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific scannerI purchased this scanner to scan slides from 40-50 years ago. I have used Epson scanners before in other settings, but never owned one myself. I am thrilled to finally own one that I can use at any time! The scanner processes four slides at a time. This takes a little time to go through an 80-slide carousel, but it's well worth the wait. I have not used all of the features of this scanner, but other reviews indicate that the other features are very useful.Epson makes a fine product, one that I would highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second Epson ScannerMy Epson Perfection 3170 Photo scanner, that I have had since July of 2004 was starting to freeze periodically during scans recently. I checked the reviews of current Epson scanners and based on those reviews, I purchased the Perfection V600 Photo scanner. I expected it to scan better than my 3170 but it does not based on my comparison of scans of 10 different pictures using the same settings on both. The only feature that I like about the V600 is that I only have to raise the cover half way up. On the 3170, it had to be raised a full 90 degrees. I had higher hopes for the V600.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson Perfection V600 Photo scannerI bought this scanner in April of 2014 and have had no problems with it. I particularly like the LED light system and its quick warm up. Between this and my previous V500, I have scanned thousands of slides and photographs. I am pleased with the ease of use of the scanning software, and the quality of the scans. Whenever I have had need to seek assistance, I have been treated courteously, and each time the issues have been solved. I would recommend this scanner for its price and ease of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 35mm slides and film transfer to my computerI purchased this scanner for Christmas for myself so I could start transferring slides and film negatives to my computer. My computer has Windows 10 so I had to download the driver update. I am still working on slides and I probably will be for some time as there are a lot slides for me to work on. I have not attempted any negatives yet but I am sure that they will transfer as well as the slides I have done so far. The process of slide transfer is time consuming but well worth the effort so far. I am more than pleased with the scanners ability to download the slides and with the software to edit the slides after the download is complete.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent ScannerThe Epson V600 has exceeded my expectations. I have used it to scan hundreds of photos and documents. It offers so many options and is easy to use. One feature I really like is that there is no waiting for the scanner to warm up. It is ready to go as soon as the item being scanned is on the scanner. I have also used it to scan photos at different locations so I recommend keeping the original packing in case you need to transport it offsite. Scanning documents in PDF is also a neat feature.

Big problem was that the ABBYY software crashed all Microsoft Office apps like Excel, Word and Outlook. As soon as I uninstalled that software the Office apps worked fine. Epson needs to either delete this software from the package or fix it so this does not happen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson Perfection V600 Photo ScannerA great scanner for the price! The only negatives are the lack of higher quality film holders and a case to put the holders in for storage. At the very least Epson could offer a case for the film holders as an option. Also the user's guide is only available in .html format with no PDF user's guide available. At least EPSON could have a PDF guide available for downloading. Finally, EPSON could offer more frequent updates of the included software on its website.

The LED technology is great, no warm up time, just turn it on and it is ready to go. Draw back, it can only do one strip of 120 at a time, and it won't do 4x5 or larger. The price is great, the scanner is more valuable than the price suggest, worth every dollar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent scanner!I've used the V600 scanner to make copies of my father's WWII letters and documents (over 1000 and still counting) as well as his pictures, negatives and slides from the 1930's thru the 1960's. The scanner has performed very well with all of the images and documents; I've been very impressed with its flexibility. The fact that it also comes with OCR software has made it much easier to search documents that were typed or published; that has been a big plus. I would recommend this to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dependable workhorse.I use my scanner just about every day with my iMac and Photoshop for documenting vintage dog show magazines and memorabilia. I even used it to reproduce color transparencies from the 1940's and 1950's that had never been seen before and I was able to share them with thousands of fanciers on Facebook. It does an amazing job and my Epson scans can be tweaked to, well, perfection. I bought my first Epson Scanner in 1994 with my first Macintosh computer. That scanner came bundled with Photoshop 3.0 and I have been a loyal customer with Apple, Adobe and Epson ever since. This scanner is superb. (BTW my scanner in 1994 cost tens times as much as the V600!)

It does a wonderful job, especially with the ICE feature turned on. Although it does take a bit longer, the results are worth it. The only issues I had were a glitch with Windows which wouldn't recognize the scanner after using it for a few days, and I noticed a streak through the scans when I was using it, but haven't had that problem since.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EPSON V600 Photo Scanner.I got this Scanner mainly to scan 110mm slide. Since it was a flat bed I could lay the slides on the, preview them, select just the picture portion of the slide. It worked very well and was the only method I found the worked for the 110mm slides. I have Windows 7 Pro and I did find one problem.. Sometimes the scanner could not be found even though it was connected. Someone selected the solution. I had to go to a TEMP file and delete everything there. Quite a few Twain items were there. This suggestion worked although it happened quite a few times. So it seems your software is not completely ready fro Windows 7 Pro.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works wellThe scanner, works as it should. The scans can be adjusted for resolution, so you can get bigger or smaller files. I bought it for scanning color and bw negatives. For that it works fine, although it is suppose to separate the pictures (in case there are 3/4 pics on a 35mm neg.). Sometimes you have to separate them manually. The photo program that is packaged with the scanner is fine; i thought i might have to use my Adobe Photoshop, but the smaller program does all that i have to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Less than expectedScanner was highly recommended. The images are fine, but I found it to be slow and not well suited for scanning lots of photos. Also, came with outdated photo shop software that is impossibly difficult to use, and since it is no longer being sold, there is no support to assist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from V600I was able to start making copies of my pictures and slides half an hour after unpacking the V600. The software disk downloaded easily on Windows 7 and using the "getting started sheet" made the transition to copies effortlessly. I have half slides from the 60's and early 70's and they came out with surprisingly good quality. It is a slow process however since only four slides can be scanned at one time. I have no experience with other photo copiers but can recommend this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top of the line flatbed scannerThis is highest resolution flatbed scanner in this price range and the software for converting PDF to .txt files is very helpful also. Epson is running all over HP with their scanners and Inkjet printers. I would recommend this product for anyone working with Photoshop of any level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from V600 Excellent ScannerBought the Perfection V600 from Micro Center to replace a HP ScanJet 7400c that did not have updated drivers for Windows 7. The Epson scanner is hands down a better scanner than the HP it replaced. It is faster, quieter, has better software included and the lid stays open in two different positions which makes swapping pages much easier. I also have the Epson GT-S50 scanner which I use for high volume scanning so I did not need an ADF with the V600. Epson's software suite recognizes both scanner and prompts for which one to use each time I start the Epson Scan application. Mostly used for scanning documents to PDF and also some picture scanning to JPG. Overall very satisfied with the V600 and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a flatbed scanner that works well with Windows 7.

I went to Espon website and found an update to load, but when tried to install, it told me the one on the computer was newer. Very confusing. Thought Macs were great. But not all software is compatible even when it says it is. So haven't been able to use the unit yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to my computer setupGreat machine and simple to use. The simple "scan" button is wonderful. But it's necessary to get very familiar with the User's Guide and getting to know where the info is located in it. For instance, it took some time to learn how to change resolution when scanning 35mm slides, but once I did it at 1200 dpi, Wow. Removing the slides from the document table is somewhat clumsy, but this is greatly outweighed by the versatility for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GreatI do love the results of this scanner. The only problem I have found and it's probably me, is that I cannot get it to go directly from my Corel program, I have to use its own path and then export it to Corel. I keep thinking there is a way, and I probably will eventually find it. The colors are amazing in the finished scan and the clarity is perfect. I also have an Epson printer and both my printer and the scanner have impressed me greatly. I do pressed flower art and people are always feeling the paper to see if the flowers are real.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullI've had my V600 Photo Scanner for about nine months now, and I've digitized well over a thousand slides and negatives. I am not just pleased, I am absolutely delighted with this machine. And the Digital Ice feature does a great job of cleaning up dirt and nicks on the originals. The overall results are at least as good as those for pictures that I previously had digitized commercially, and all things considered, the price is quite reasonable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WorkhorseI bought the V600 about a year ago. I am retired military and have since scanned 1000's of 35mm slides, prints and print negatives of my military career and family photos. I am close to 10,000 total scans now. I absolutely love the Elelments 9 software that came with it and I "tweak" each scan with the software and have a retired military list and also family list I email the finished scans too. I have gotten 100's of comments about how good my scaned pictures look. The scanned pictures have given a lot of joy to all my friends and family (and me) over the past year. This is an awesome piece of equipment and is still going strong. I am so glad I bought it. Thanks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson ScannerThis scanner is great. I had many trays of 35mm slides dating back to 1958 and needed to get them onto my laptop. I scanned 5,782 slides with no trouble and I was pleased with the speed. I then scanned a large number of 35mm negatives. I am now in the process of scanning all of my prints. Getting all of these photos on my laptop has allowed me to organize them into easily accessible files to print or share with my children and grandchildren. This scanner was one of my all time best buys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From a V500 to a V600 Photo ScannerMy V500 Scanner is perfectly OK but in any event I bought the V600 anticipating the same excellent results with faster response time. It met those expectations. While I have not yet run it through all it's paces, their may be more pleasant surprises to come. There are still a few simple opportunities for improvements. The issues remain about the same when compared with the V500. They are:* Make the User Guide fully printable from the start to avoid having to separately print each section.* Increase the size of the Button Icons and also Illuminate them.* The Software Menus should be better connected and more intuitive. Those changes will make an excellent scanner outstanding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection in ScanningI recently purchased the Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner for my home office, I currently have the V500 at work and love the LED technology that lets me scan without the warm-up wait. The quality of the scans are outstanding. My primary purpose is for scanning film, 120 mm, 35 mm negatives and many, many 35 mm slides. The holders and transparency scanning capabilities of this scanner are really as the name says "Perfection" I have very little I have to do to a slide or to scanned film to clean them up or correct color, the scanner takes care of most of this for me making the overall process of scanning years worth of slides and film to a digital format to preserve our family memories a relatively quick and easy process.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect for MeI have scanned, B&W Negs, Color Negs, Color slideB&W prints, and documents to PDF. All were very easy to do and I was able multitask while Negs and slides were being scanned, they take a while when scanning at a high dpi.It has been a few year since I purchased a flat bed scan and one of the benefits of this scanner is that it you can open the cover to about a 45 degree angle which make it much faster to load and unload items to be scanned. This may have been around a while but my previous scanner did not have that capability and I ended up breaking a hinge. For me this scanner would be perfect if when scanning document or individual prints I could give each one a unique name rather than having a file name with a number attached.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great scanner - Short LifeWorks great for normal use. Good B&W and color document scanning. However, only lasted 23 months. I would have expected more life for personal use. Buy one, but don't expect it to last. Local repair shops say they can't get parts or repair documentation. Pricey for a boat anchor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Typical great Epson productFabulous scanner ! I scan about 300 images a week and have been able to tweek the software to where they scan in almost perfectly. I have not used the 35mm portion yet but expect the same results.Machine has performed flawlessly.I would like to see the "saved" sequence numbers to go to 4 or even 5 digits so I don't get repeating image numbers after 999 scans.I would love one just like it in a 12x15 inch format that is affordable !It is such a fine machine I expect Epson to quit making it soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommend this scanner! After reading LOTS of reviews, and comparing features, I decided to go for the V600. I'm already impressed by the results in just scanning some photos, but the real area this is going to shine, is when I take on the project of converting my father's slide picture collection, and putting it all to digital.I can just see his face when he gets to view a lifetime of his photography achievements, in the digital format on DVD.It will be a great undertaking, and that's the biggest reason I chose the V600, as well as the great price.BTW...am also upgrading my printer to the Epson Artisan 710, but I'll comment on that when it comes this week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Liking it so far!Although I've had for over a month, just started using the scanner two weeks ago.I am VERY pleased with all the options and the ease of use! In addition, I had to do some negatives and could not believe how well they came out!I have a lot (A LOT) to scan in as I just cleaned out my father's house and this has already been a blessing. The fact that I can put books on the scanner truly helps.I have already recommended this to several friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullI purchased the scanner 2 days ago. Loading the software on my Mac was straight forward. I have scanned prints and slides in full auto mode so far and found the results perfectly acceptable after a little tweaking using the apple aperture software. I have yet to try some of the custom features but remain confident that they will do the job. This scanner is excellent value for the serious photo buff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hardware, but...My initial thoughts after only a few hours of use is that the scanner itself is top-notch. My biggest problem has been with the Photoshop Elements 9 software that came with the scanner and is needed if you want to do any kind of modification to the scans for slides/photos. Because the software comes on CD I am having a difficult time getting it to the laptop the scanner is connected to. The laptop has no cd/dvd drive so I am trying to copy the software from another computers' dvd drive to the laptop over the network. No luck yet. So initially, I give the overall package (scanner and software) only 4 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson Perfection V600A nicely designed scanner. This unit does a great job of scanning films of different formats, color or B&W. It has produced good reproductions from all my negatives dating back to circa 1949, even the reproduction of photographs. It has a lid hinge holding stop at approx. 45 degrees, which allows you to stay seated without getting up to lift the lid to a full open position.I highly recommend this scanner, which is at an unbelievable price for it's material quality, and reproduction quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson V600 ScannerI purchased this scanner primarily because I had a large number of medium format negatives I needed to scan.( Previously, I had the V300, and it worked well, but couldn't handle the larger format negatives.) I have scanned almost 700 negatives so far, mostly B & W, 220, but I have also scanned a number of negatives of a format used from 1899-1984, which do not fit the holder supplied with the scanner. (The negatives are 1/4" wider than the supplied frame will hold.) I ended up devising a crude way to position the negatives directly on the glass bed, and got surprisingly good, clear, results, even though the edges of some of the negatives were slightly curled up. If I get to the point where I want to make large prints, I will make something to hold the negatives flat, and I will re-scan.So far everything has worked well for me, whether doing 35mm slides/film strips, or the larger format film negatives, plus copying photographic prints and text items.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As a slide scanner lacks versatilityI have been scanning slides in formats other than standard 35mm format from an older Yashika TLR (25.4mm x 25.4mm and 36mm x 36mm). In Auto Mode, this scanner does not seem to recognize a slide format other than the standard 35mm x 27mm so you have to resort to a manual and laborious procedure to scan a slide. In manual mode it does not allow you to adjust scan parameters whilst zoomed in on a slide. The user manual is so convoluted that you can't decipher a reasonable procedure to scan a slide (too many linked references as to what to do next - not step-wise) and alludes to icons (such as auto locate) that are nowhere to be found. This reviewer is a professional photogrammetrist and has supported the development of high-end scanners used by commercial and government agencies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ownerscanner meets most of my expectations. I used it for film, prints and slides. The only thing that I have a problem with and maybe there's a way to solve this is that on medim format negs. the scanner will not scan the full 6x7 neg. or a square medium format.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this scanner!I bought this photo scanner to scan some 35mm slides. I love the way it is easy to use. It has built in software to enhance the images while you scan the image and it has a photo editor to further enhance the images. A little patience is required because it scans 4 slides at a time. When you are working with sentimental images, it's worth the time spent. This scanner is also reasonably priced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson V600In June 2012 I searched multiple vendors for a photographic slide scanner since I have a very large collections of slides. I found that the Epson V600 was what I was looking for. I then read all reviews available at that time for the V600 and then ordered the scanner.I received the V600 and found setting it up was not a problem. The size is perfect for my computer desk along with my Epson NX430 printer.Due to medical problems I was not able to start using the V600 for a few months. When I started using I found that the time scanning slides, negatives and prints was acceptable. I also found that the quality of some of my older prints were better after scanning then the prints themself.I have also used the V600 to scan prints and documents from textbooks to assist my daughter with her college courses.I am very pleased with the scanner and its’ performance.

He also knew given the thousands of photos, I wasn't interested in anything complicated. This scanner is very easy to use. It handles photos of various sizes and multiple pictures at once as long as they fit appropriately onto the scanner flatbed. All I need to do is click scan, and color enhancement is also easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy useI bought this to replace a Perfection 4490 scanner with identical features. My old scanner served me well for a long time but use has taken a toll on it. The V600 is almost identical in use which made it simple to set up and use. The scans are great and I look forward to using this scanner for years tom come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Quality and DurabiltyI have owned the Epson Perfection V500 for over 5 years and it works just as well now as it did back then! I scanned over 60 photo albums using it. I am giving it to my mother, and I bought Epson V600 to replace it. Epson is such a great and reliable scanner -- I'm extremely pleased with Epson!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from why replacement?I had an older V600. I kept having to "reload" the program. Apple tried but could not fix the problem. I waited several times on the Epson line. So, re-checking the web, the v600 still came out on top overall. So I got a new one. I hope the new one works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What could be better...When scanning 35mm slides, it is hard to pick them up off the glass afterward without getting fingerprints on the glass. It would be better if they could be loaded into the holder before inserting it, and removed from the holder rather than lifted off the glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wonderful toolI have been using my V600 to scan a very diverse array of images: color slides, Negatives (both black & white and color) and a variety of prints in both black & white and color. I have examined my originals and the scans under high power magnification and am delighted with the fidelity of the scans! The interfaces with Photoshop work perfectly as well.I was very pleased with an earlier Epson scanner; this one was a great upgrade!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson Perfection V600 Scanner best value in classThe Epson Perfection V600 Scanner is the best in it's class. For the money there is not another film , print, and document scanner that can give you the resolution, color rendering, and accuracy that the V600 can. It's easy to use and the Epson Perfection software provided actually is very good. You would have to spend another $500 to get a better scanner than the V600.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scanner... BUTI have had this scanner for about 2 months. I have scanned about 2500 slides so far and have generally been very satisfied. BUT, occasionally I find one or two vertical lines across the resulting digital picture, on both portrait and landscape pictures. It is most noticeable on slides with a lot of blue sky, or other areas of solid color. I cannot see this on the originals with a jeweler's loop so I think it occurs in the scanner. Perhaps a light leak or reflection? Epson has replaced my original scanner but I continue to see this effect on the new one. So far my solution is to rescan at another time. Does anyone else see this and have a solution?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good productYes, I think this is a very good product for the money. As of this writing I have had only one issue with this device and that is that the document cover is a little hard to raise. That is the best way I can describe it. Other than that it has worked fine. I use this for personal use only and don't require the function of your more expensive devices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nullThe scans of 35 mm slides are spectacular, ONCE I downloaded several drivers and utilities. I would think that you would keep the units that are being shipped out in 2015 a little more up to date than having to go back to 2013 to download essential parts for the scanner. Very frustrating. That being said, the scanner is top notch and I'm happy with my purchase. If the need arises I will purchase Epson products again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Bit Better Than a Basic Photo ScannerI bought this photo scanner to digitize 35mm slides going back to the 1960s. There is a definite learning curve with the V600...and the directions provided are a bit hard to decipher. Nonetheless, was pleased with the quality of the images that the scanner produces. I figure that the cycle time for copying four 35mm images is about six minutes from the time one set of slides is installed and the next set of four is ready to be copied. I would say that is an acceptable production rate but I would be happier if the process was faster.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Photo ScannerThe quality of the scanned photos is very good. It's my first Epson scanner. Otherwise, the features and quality of scans are excellent. Scanning is also pretty fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is REALLY PerfectionMy main reason for buying the V600 was to digitally archive our slides and photos from the late 1960's thru the 1990's. The V600 and the included software are just what the doctor ordered for this task. Simple but powerful, some of the slides and photos actually look better once scanned into my computer than the originals.I would highly recommend this scanner to anyone needing to digitize their photo and/or slide memories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Less Than ExpectedI found the projector very slow, which even the instructions point out. A very frustrating aspect is that, after every slide being processed I had to hit the computer mouse again to begin the processing of the next slide. I couldn't just leave the machine to complete all of the slides on the screen.I am running it off a Mac so possibly the software is not quite compatible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from technology needs to improve, but a good productI have been holding off buying a scanner to transfer my 15 albums of family photos until now - this scanner is rated pretty high by the pundits. If you are an instant gratification person, keep waiting for the technology to improve and become faster. A 4x6 color print takes about a minute to scan and transfer to your computer file, and that includes the time it takes for the software and scanner to "recharge" for the next scan. Also, the software is somewhat haphazard: the scanner sometimes loads the picture sideways or upside down, or adds unnecessary white space around the scanned photo. This means you need to use your photo editing software (like iPhoto) to format the pictures after the photo is transferred to your computer for about 70% of the pictures. So, it is not a seamless, convenient plug and play type of product. My 2000 photo transfer project will be taking more than the month or so I was expecting to invest: sigh . . . I hope my kids appreciate the effort! Comparing the photo to the scanned file: the original photo is visibly sharper than the scanned image, so do not expect an identical copy. However, the price is very good for this product. If you are accepting the recommendation from the pundits who monitor these products as gospel, then you're not going to find anything significantly better than this, so just be patient and accept what is offered. Namaste.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection V600Exceeded my expectations as I only needed a scanner to temporarily replace my 836XL. Although not as large a scanning area the results are superb. Scanning transparencies yield results that exceed that of the 836 in my opinion for a fraction of the cost. Reflected scans are clean and rival the originals when scanned properly. Software is simple but full featured and installed without any issues under Windows 7 Pro.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love the V600This scanner is amazing to me. Definitely picks up the photos wherever you set them and makes great scanned copies in a very reasonable timeframe. I have used it for slides also and it is incredible. I have a Mac, and was stymied for a minute with the discs (which the Mac would not read), but after I realized I had to download the software from the Epson site via the internet, all was well. the scanner is easy to use, pretty much does it all for you so it requires very little instruction. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson for slidesWhile I've only had the scanner in use for a day or so it has performed well. The slides that I have scanned look great and with proper cleaning of the slides prior it reduces any post-editing. I am still learning the "best" ways to scan as there are a number of settings that can be adjusted in the professional mode. I have yet to do film, and will do both colour and b&w.I do find the setting up of the slides a bit tedious, placing the holders and positioning the slides in it.I also (in this case) would have preferred a paper manual to refer to. Where I would typically not mind an electronic version in this case I'd like to sit down and read the manual to get the most info on how to scan properly and most effectively.Bottom line I'm very happy with the scanner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so goodResearched for some time for a reasonably priced scanner for 35mm slides. Color and definition are important for medical slides converted for digital projection. I am very impressed with quality of digitized slides so far. I'm not a computer wiz and have no experience with Photoshop Elements. There were no instructions regarding the use of Photoshop but I assume the information is on the disc. The only downside may be the time necessary if you have many slides to digitize.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson Scanner Delights Photography ArchiversThe Epson V600 Scanner is easy to use and produces photo files that greatly enhance the prints, negatives, and slides that photographers have been storing in various albums and boxes over the years. It provides an enjoyable way to create virtual albums with all media combined for the albums of your choice. In particular, the "digital ice" feature makes photos even more beautiful than the original versions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good scanner; confusing instructionsI've only had the scanner about 24 hours. My main reason for purchasing is to be able to scan 35 mm slides so that I can use the images in a PowerPoint presentation. It's actually working very well. The "confusing" instructions for 35mm slides are scattered throughout despcriptions of the 4 possible scanning modes; however, for the "Full Auto Mode" there is a special note in a box which says that 35mm slides can only be scanned in "Full Auto Mode." Since finding that bit of informaiton, scanning has been easy, and results are acceptable. The Users Manual has an index. However, it's not useful. There are only 2 entries for slides, and neither reference is the one about the requirement to scan 35 mm slides in "Full Auto Mode." Epson should review the entire Users Manual for accuracy and clarity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OperationOnce I synched the Epson with new Lion Operating System, I enjoyed scanning slides first. I learned every time I begin a new scanning session, it defaults to a different mode. Not sure why. I find interesting also that each time I scan I have to hit "Hide Details" before it will scan. Not sure if this was intended but that is the case.Otherwise I think it does a great job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top quality scansI ordered this V600 to go with the R2000 printer I also ordered. This is my 4th Epson scanner and the best one yet. I enjoy using this scanner because there is no warm-up time to scan as there was with my older scanners. It makes scanning quick and easy. The scanner software makes it easy for a beginner but with a couple clicks you can dig deep into all of the scanners abilities for the more advanced user. I look forward to years of scanning or until the next great scanner comes out from Epson.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional quality made simpleThis scanner makes it so easy to scan a document and save it as a PDF file in two simple steps. I was also amazed on how simple it was to scan negatives and electronically preserve treasured memories. If it's simplicity and quality that you are seeking, then this scanner is the one. I am also using this scanner on Windows and Mac OSX. Scanner works good on either system.
