Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great for digitizing my 35mm transparencies Bought this product today to update my older flatbed scanner. Primary use is to digitize my 35mm transparancies. The V550 is fantastice. Very good quality output. Rivals my Digital SLR! Very happy to recommend this unit. Works great on Mojave OS!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best scanner I've ever had! I've had it a while now and have scanned everything from outsize B/W negatives to 35 mm negs to postcards to ordinary materials including diaries written in pencil. The prints come out beautifully and the operation of the scanner is simple and straightforward in all cases.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent resutls! i am using this to scan my dads 35mm slides from vietnam. so far it is working better than expected! my only complaint is that the instructions not really clear on scanning slides. don't forget to remove the line on the lid or all scans will be black.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SEEMS TO BE OK Seemed to have all needed features, so purchased V550 to scan large number of old historic family photos. Seems to be OK; other than had to re-load software 3x, before operations were relativley seamless; tho, still infrequently receive ERROR msg when scanning photos, having to reinitialize the SCAN button.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Owned 2 years so far I have scanned in excess of 3000 slides in the past two years; some of the slides are as old as 60 years. The quality of the slides have ranged from excellent to downright color-shifted. I've been using the manual (professional) mode and adjusting color balance and cleaning up. Overall I am quite pleased with the results. I use ICE when necessary; it isn't totally perfect but it does an overall good job (one of the better cleanups is attached). The manual is not very useful for the amateur; lots of additional research is needed to clarify what the controls do. I blame Windows more than Epson for the fact that the software temporarily 'hangs' on a regular basis. After a few moments the system clears itself and processing continues. This issue is not only restricted to the Epson software - even Microsoft products have this issue. I wish there was a Linux version of the software and drivers (I'm not that good with gimp). I have recommended this device to friends and one did buy it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slightly DISAPPOINTED! After about ten years of very satisfied use, I replaced my old desktop computer. In addition, I decided to replace my Epson Perfection 4180 Photo scanner with (what I thought, after ten years) would be a GREAT UPGRADE. As I said, Slightly DISAPPOINTED! Yes, the new scanner works fine - very slightly better than my ten year old 4180. BUT, the software looks like a throw-back! What used to take me just a few keystrokes now makes me jump through MANY, MANY hoops! (basically to select the type of file ("PDF" or "JPG") AND then to "BROWSE" to FIND a desired location where the scanned file would be located. VERY FRUSTRATING!
