The Platinum Distributed Forwarding Engine (DFE) is Enterasys Networks' next generation of enterprise modules. These DFE modules deliver high performance and flexibility to ensure comprehensive switching, routing, quality of service, security, and traffic containment.
The 7KR4297-02 DFE module has two 10-Gbps Ethernet port slots on the front panel that can support up to two 10-Gbps XFP PHYs for high speed uplinks from the chassis DFE Ethernet switch system. With two 10-Gbps PHYs installed in the 7KR4297-02, a shared uplink of up to 20 Gbps can be provided from the DFE switching system to two network edge connections.
