Comfortable and Handy
This is still one of the best little tool on the market 3 years after it was released. Most comfortable, light and powerfull enouth. I used it over a year for daily work and I loved it. You shoud know it's not perfect. Sometimes its quite hard to connect changable heads. There is no magnetic bit holder (and no official attachement). After a year of daily use bearings started to go off and you cannot change it. I just recently got new set.

Now I know what your thinking, 12 volts? That’s what I thought to! But man did this thing shine. Perfect size n strength for interior automotive, cabinetry, etc. The new light position is a win as well

Kims Review of Dewalt Drill/Driver Kit
If you have ever had to work in enclosed spaces, you will understand why I appreciate this drill. Works great in place of a right angle drill or if you are trying to work straight on in corners. Includes four attachments (right angle, screwdriver, offset, and chuck attachments) for different angles and included the absolute perfect carry on bag. very easy to change the drill bits out as I have small hands. Also very comfy to hold as it does not feel big or too clunky. Chuck holds the bits very secure and Even the bag is super sturdy. Also had a great light built into the bottom, and of course had battery charger and battery. Transmission is high speed and included two settings. This drill is made to last and very nice. Super excited to put this thing to work.

Disappointed
This kit was my first DeWALT cordless purchase. Despite my desire to share how this compares in the market, the review guidelines prohibit mentioning competitors specifically (likely for good reason), so I will only share my general impressions. There are positive characteristics I fail to mention, but I will focus on the negative ones to provide a perspective counter to the glowing reviews.
The DCD703F1 feels bulky and less ergonomic than it should. The grip profile is excellent, but it lacks the compactness and lightweight design that most potential users would look for in an installation driver. The ‘bore axis’ over the trigger is quite tall, leading to a top-heavy, disconnected feel. This is not helped by utilizing the standard 20V* sliding battery design, thereby making the total package quite long.
I was also expecting a more linear trigger, but what I experienced were steep steps up in rpm and power while depressing the variable trigger, even in 1st gear. I also experienced an intermittent hesitation or stuttering at low speeds, exactly where you would expect to find the most precision.
The attachments feel solidly designed and constructed, but the method of attachment was a bit of a hassle. There are a limited number of positions where a connection can be made. Once attached, they cannot be repositioned and require removal and reattachment to adjust. Despite being more difficult than necessary to attach, they were too easily disengaged.
The plastic drive housing and clutch setting selector are unconvincingly painted with a silver, fake-metallic finish to give the illusion of being metal. The clutch selector felt mushy with quite a bit of play and lacked a positive click. The gear selector was often relatively difficult to switch for such a small drivetrain, as if stuck on a tooth.
Overall, the construction feels somewhat plasticky and less robust. Runout is expected in attachments that utilize ¼” hex interfaces, particularly those with a quick release collet, but the amount I experienced with the drill chuck attachment was completely unacceptable in what should be a precision-oriented tool. The ¼” hex attachments displayed a significant amount of wobble as well, likely due to the design of the attachment-to-tool interface or poor machining.
Another disappointment was the absence of a locking feature, whereby you could drive with the motor then finish tightening by hand by rotating the tool itself. There does not appear to be any sort of brake as mine would continue to spin for a moment after the trigger was released.
If you are already on and solely committed to the DeWALT 12V platform, this could still serve you well as it accomplishes much that other DeWALT drill/drivers simply cannot. In my case however, it was promptly returned.

The only drill you need!
I own a wide variety of Dewalt cordless tools, mostly 20v. First off, I was really impressed with the power of a 12v drill. It is compact enough to fit anywhere you need it but packs a punch and drives 3” screws into framing without any issues. The attachments make this the only drill you need, period. From getting into corners with the offset or right angle chuck installing cabinet hardware, to drilling holes through framing for wires, to setting screws in drywall. The 12v 5 in 1 does it all. I would recommend this kit for both contractors adding to their collection and homeowners looking for one drill to do it all.

Comfortable and works well. Lacking compactness.
Perfect for cabinets and installing shiplap/ installing doors jambs. Compact but just short of the Festool and Milwaukee drill drivers. Battery life is there for a 12v tool. Good weight and no fatigue on the wrist from long use. Overall, would recommend.

Definitely recommend is buying your first cordless
I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised with this tool. I love the bag it comes with. Makes everything secure and has its place. This tool is just slightly smaller than the big boy 20v drill/driver and impact drivers. I got big hands and it wasn’t as comfortable for me using this tool but it’s ok. Just had to move the pinky finger to the side. I loved the benefit of only having to get one battery and one bag to get the job done.
I had to fabricate a base for a rotisserie motor and I pulled out this drill. To my surprise, I loaded the drill attachment to pre-drill some holes and loaded the driver attachment with the bit I needed to drive screws. It was super simple for me to swap out attachments and already have everything ready to go. Love the convenience and love the attachments. Pretty cool idea that DeWalt came up with. Added bonus if you didn’t know, no need for a separate charger. Your 20v chargers work with the 12v battery no problem. Really cool. Definitely recommend this product.

A step above within an already great line
I've previously owned several DeWalt 12V tools, including an impact driver that I use more than any other tool and a traditional drill/driver. Holy smokes, this thing manages to replace both. The interchangeable heads are a breeze to use and make this one tool more versatile and easy to pack and carry to a job site than taking a separate impact driver and drill. It has the best of both worlds and the brushless motor is a massive upgrade. I can't seem to kill a battery if I try. I love this tool.

Awesome tool
It packs a punch for a little guy, i do hvac and it replaced my standard impact and drill and some tool attachments out of my tool bag. The 90° attachment and being able to put the drill head on the 90 allowed me to put screws and holes in tight spots

Big power, little package
Awesome little tool! Fits in the palm of your hand. Perfect to keep in the house as the “clean” drill/impact set. Attachments change out easily and each one is useful. Plenty of power out of the 12v battery. I was surprised it could handle driving 1/2” lags without pre drilling.

Not impressed
Every so often a revolutionary idea becomes usable in the form of an awesome tool. Remember the Makita 9.6 v or the first Dremel system, or for that matter the Milwaukee Sawzall. Well folks this tool 8sNOT ONE OF THEM. It feels as if Dewalt trotted out their impact driver in a shorter body, attached a different head and threw in some lower value heads. Almost as if they were thinking in a "New from Roncko, if you call by midnight we'll add in a cheap "Carpenters" tool bag" mentality. Don't waste your money or your time on this unit.

It's not for driving 1/2 in. lags
The negative reviews on here are saying it's underpowered....... Ok, underpowered for what? Look at it as a power screwdriver and your dreams will be fulfilled. If you're expecting to drive 1/2" lag bolts into beams, ya, you're probably gonna be disappointed. Come on people!! You're better than this!! Great job DeWalt. I love the weight and size when I'm replacing faceplates or working with electronics. It's nice to have a mini-me for the 20V. It's also the "go to" for the wifey.

Impressive, powerful and very functional drill
The key to all these types of drills/multi tools is the connection lasting and locking between the attachments and the tool and I have been pleased so far. The drill and attachments have lubricated metal connectors that appear well designed and made. There is a click, click sound when making any connection. One to get on the spindle ring and another telling you it’s set in place and ready to drill. Most of the connections lined up perfectly in my use. The 3/8 chuck and 1/4 quick connect were fast and easy. The offset was easy to seat most of the time but occasionally gave me issues connecting the head to the drill. Per the manual on a couple attachments you have to rotate the attachment to get it to mate properly. The right angle head gave me some trouble at the beginning and seems to have a bit of a quirk to it but I haven’t really had many issues with it since. I have found a little twist on the right angle bit holding spindle as you line it up helps it seat better. There aren’t any visible markings so it was trial and error for me. The hex head fitting inside the right angle attachment has to mate with the drill itself. (As a side once you have the right angle attachment on the drill spindle, as you rotate the right angle attachment to the desired position you can see the attachment spindle turning slightly as you rotate the attachment around the drill spindle which reinforces that it needs aligned a bit more than the rest while seating on the drill. This makes sense because it’s a new spindle that will be driving your bit and you want to transfer the power from the drill spindle to the attachment.) Once connected there is no excess play in any attachment and they all work very well. All in all it’s minimal inconvenience but I did knock a star for the right angle attachment being a bit tricky.
The drill is lightweight and feels comfortable in my hand with a bright light that shines on your workspace and has about a 20 second delay after use. I have an average sized hand and the pistol grip handle fits my hand perfectly. I prefer this to the tube style as those seem a bit wider and not as comfortable to use.
The drill offers lots of power when needed and still maintains good runtime. I assembled a firewood holder with treated 2x4’s, drilled close to 40 holes through 1x2’s and plaster and lath for shelving and put screws through everything, made about a dozen holes through some plastic and only took one bar off the 2 ah battery. I figured with it being a 12 v and smaller battery it would have taken more battery life but I was pleasantly surprised with the power and efficiency of the drill.
The drill heads/chucks are all plastic but seem well made and the drill itself seems to have minimal play with the 3/8 chuck. Some chucks seem to be off center more than others but mine is tight to center with little to no wobble. I have had some sloppy chucks in the past and it’s annoying when you need accuracy so that was a pleasant feat of engineering given all the moving parts. The other heads are 1/4” quick connects and they hold the bit tightly. There is nothing worse than a bit falling out or sticking while working.
A few closing thoughts:
- Offset head alone makes this kit worth it and is fantastic for under shelving, cabinetry, door jambs, or any place that normally required some fancy adapters and angled drilling. The offset head plus the right angle adapter gets you almost anywhere in tight quarters.
- I used the heads as separate “tools” leaving the bits in each head and swapping the heads while working which was easy and more convenient than loosening and tightening a chuck to switch bits for drilling and driving. I had 3 different bits at one point and I never had a hiccup with connections while working.
- I’m a bit OCD on organization in my tool boxes and the soft case that comes with this drill kit is a home run. I normally hate how things flop around in the soft cases but not with this. The soft case has a molded plastic base for the drill heads (so they stay put and don’t roll around), space for the drill w/attached battery, 6 bits, a charger and it can fit a spare battery. This is an all in one carry/storage case that has the benefits of the molded hard plastic while not being as rigid and being able to access your most commonly used bits quickly without the need of anything extra. Load up the bits before going to work and the bit case is unnecessary.
- Overall I am impressed by this kit but still wish the right angle adapter was a bit easier to connect so I’m giving it a 5/5.

Great Potential - But Lacks Power
My wife got me this for Christmas. The first thing I noticed was that it was 12 volts not 20 volts. I took it on the roof to reinstall my solar microinverters. It's light and easy to use, but it didn't have enough power to loosen the inverters. I had my wife take it back to Lowes. The concept is great but put it on a 20 volt impact driver. The 12 volt battery is very underpowered and small.

This little dude packs a PUNCH!
I’ve taken the past few weeks to find every excuse to use this drill instead of breaking out my Dewalt 1/4 impact driver and drill. I’ll start by saying I was concerned that battery life and torque would be an issue. Let me tell you…it wasn’t! After a full charge I was able to complete an awning installation on my 5th wheel travel trailer, a small shelving project for my grandparents, and a complete bathroom remodel (minimal usage with three bars of power to spare. It drilled every hole and sunk every screw/bolt with ease.
The area that this little beast shined was with its 5 swap-able heads. Similar to the slip collar on an air compressor hose, you can change heads in a few seconds to switch from drilling to screwing with the same tool. One head I found especially useful was the offset bit driver. With a standard driver, you’re forced to sink a screw at a slight angle or the drill body will press against nearby surfaces, cocking the driver at an angle, running the risk of stripping the screw or ruining yet another bit. With the offset bit driver attachment, you can set the position and drive the screw home in the perfect spot. I can imagine this attachment being useful in cabinetry applications or anywhere you’re working in tight corners. The 90° attachment was awesome for some of this work.
Another great feature this drill has is its small size and light weight. Over the years of working in carpentry, I’ve grown accustomed to using a big drill with a big battery. Some projects require the added torque and battery life of a 6AH FlexVolt battery. Some projects aren’t worth dragging out the clunky tools. Pop on the head attachment you need and you’re ready to go! I keep this in a utility drawer so my wife and I have it ready for any diy need. While this tool won’t replace your full-sized drill/driver on the job site for a hard day’s work building a deck or fence, it makes light work of your average project.
I’m happy to add this unique drill/driver to my collection, and look forward to years of faithful service. Don’t hesitate to pick one of these up from your local dealer!

versatile drill/driver
Purchased at Lowes. This flexible drill driver has enough power for 90% of your tasks, and its so nice to work with a light and compact too. I guarantee you'll fall in love the minute you get into a tight spot with one of the special chucks.
Two things could be improved:
– The kit would be better with two batteries.
– The bit holders should be able to work with small 1" bits. They do not.
Small crits for a great drill. All in all, well done by DeWalt.

I dropped it from a 20ft ceiling and it survived!
I bought this drill as my dedicated work drill for cabinet work. Today I was hanging an air hose reel on the rafters about 20ft up and it slipped out of my hand. I was terrified that it was broken and the guy on the ground thought it for sure was after bouncing off the scissor lift and landing on the concrete floor below. The way it hit the concrete, it landed on a nut driver that was in the offset attachment. To be honest, I'm surprised none of the locking mechanisms broke, especially since when I got down to it the offset was no longer attached to the drill and it somehow got bumped into the trigger lock position.
