A Cautionary Tale
Phantom power issues were creating havoc w my DELL 5491. Operating w/ non-DELL power supply units proved detrimental in the longer term. Now I'm back in the zone with the DELL product that precisely meets the requirements of my laptop.

Great charger
Compact and works great. I like the way the cord wraps around the charger. Also the wall cord (which doesn't wrap and around and is not shown in the picture) is nice and short -- so not a lot of bulk. The wrap around cord provides all the length most people will need, so it's a nice balance of compactness and utility.

You are always safer ordering from Dell
My old power supply's wires looked like they were ready to go so I figured I should get a spare before that happened. I know I'm always safer ordering from Dell. Price was reasonable and came sooner than expected.

Not all chargers fit all Dell laptops
Didn't fit my laptop. Dell should find a better way to identify compatible products. I checked and there wasn't any apparent or easy way to find a compatible charger based on the original charger model or laptop model / serial number.

I ordered an extra chord for my new laptop and got this bigger, chunkier one. I'm sure it works fine, but I really wanted a smaller one like the one that came with the computer

Battery won't charge. After troubleshooting with Dell Technical we found the charger was not functioning properly. I ordered the recommended charger and was back up and running. Thankyou Dell Technical and Dell Parts for the great advice and support.

I have returned this purchase without opening it as two of the exact same chargers stopped working within one week. Initially I had thought getting OEM product would be the best when compared with a generic charger, but when the second one stopped working I decided against it.

Great product— poor delivery service!!
The product itself works great and solved my computer charging problem. But it took over 6 weeks to receive it. Good thing it was for a back up computer to my mobile DJ Business or it would have cost me big time!! I did appreciate the communication of the delays
