RMA'D, then never delivered..
When I initially ordered this SSD, it worked perfectly: up to advertised speeds, easy to use; overall, an excellent product. However within 6 months, the drive began to slow down significantly. Soon speeds dropped to sub 25MB/s. Permanently. The RMA Request process was simple enough: contact Crucial Support, prove product was not in working order, and send it back.
Issue one: We had to pay postage.
Issue two: They forgot to send us a new drive.
Issue three: Over a month later, and the new product is yet to arrive.
Overall, when the product works, it is an excellent piece of compact tech. But the product doesn't work, and the process to get a working solution has been convoluted and slow, to the point that I STILL do not have more storage.

A great purchase for an external drive
I am using this product for an external drive for X Plane 11 and X Plane 12. It is very responsive and would buy this product again.

It's a 'crucial' piece of gear
With my hard drive erased, boot up erased, I was able to completely restore via internet and my Crucial back up. Worked seamlessly with time machine and migration assistant. Excellent product. *****

I can not get it working after two days of use
It worked great while it was working but after about two days of use it activated write protection randomly and whatever i do it wont start working again.

Good product by a good company and good service.
I have three Crucial X6 ssd's, incredibly useful. One is now full of back ups, the other two, both purchased recently, are now 'on the team' - one for the back ups, the other for storage, as I am digitising all my photo negatives. Easy to use and reliable. Excellent!

Bought 2 drives and so far they have been performing quite well. I am mainly using them as USB media+file storage attached to my router and as a backup drive.
There is 1 note that would be nice for the manufacturers to add (And it is not only for this model but other variants as well, I have seen some giving it 1 star because of it) is that if you are also using the adapter that was included as a bonus, plugging in any orientation does not guarantee USB 3 speeds. Originally I thought it was a defect but it is how it was manufactured.
It's a minor issue but not something that would degrade it to 1 star as some people point out. Check if it's the drive itself slow or if it's the cable or the adapter. Outside that have no complains.

I had an external WD hard drive but it died after a year, I was looking for a better brand and I decided to choose Crucial, so far I'm satisfied with the speed and how practical is to carry this hard drive
