Rated 5 out of 5 by from Canon has high ink useage and cost. I don't own this printer but I have owned 3 Canon printers in the past. The latest is a Maxify MB2720. I'll never buy another Canon printer. They go thru ink like a drunk Uncle goes thru booze at the bar at a wedding. 1 ink cartridge went empty so I replaced it. As soon as I replaced it another went empty, then another, and another. That kept on through 4 complete set of ink cartridges (that's $356 +tax if you're wondering). I gave up. I went back to an Epson. Ordered an ET4850 from Costco. It was just delivered today and haven't set it up yet. But, I'll never go back to a Canon printer. The print quality was terrific, boht letters and pictures. But the amount of ink they go thru is ridicules and to have to keep changing cartridges when 1 goes empty is really crazy. I bought the Epson printer for less than what I spent on ink before I quit changing cartridges. All the Canon printers I had went thru a ridicules amount of ink but this last one was just way too much. From what I've read and heard from talking to people, it'll take me years before I get close to spending that amount with the Epson. I hope that's true. But, I know what the Canon cost in ink and I'll never go thru that again. Oh, I did write Canon about the issue. They never had the decency to write me back. Guess they're happy making their money on ink so they don't care. I rated a 1 Star because there's nothing lower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I have an earlier version of this printer, and am so pleased that Canon brought it back!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Be Wary I would think twice about buying any Canon portable printer. Canon has a habit of producing a portable printer for a few years and then they stop. Then you are eventually left with a printer that is no longer supported, like their BJC-85, which I still have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good portable BUT....difficult - no user instructions/not intuitive Jury still out on this one. Have used earlier version, traveling lecturer, first one great but dropped/cracked case, my fault, replace it. Good for a year and again, broke it. Bought another, it died after 3 months, warranty kicked in and had to reapply 3 times with paperwork, calls. Month after month without a color printer & nothing while traveling. Finally after three months they sent the TR160 since previous version was no longer in stock. 3 months of waiting (all under warranty) Got it. prints okay but new electronic window is horrible, no instructions available.. just guess, making it very hard to use. I used it two months with just okay printing till it stopped printing full pages and Canon tech support spent 45 minutes over phone having me run various processes over and over.. and reset some things (I never changed any settings).now the tr160 works great - great color copies but way too much hassle getting thru the menu, almost force buy - Automatica built in buy ink from canon when I already have extra ink purchased locally. Very annoying feature. I use MacBook Pro. But I have a canon laser b&w laser printer about 20 years old and that still works copy, scan, print. that was/is amazing. So it's been long journey but for the moment the tr160 is printing color & B&W prints very nice quality. Just took a LOT of patience & persistence. For a portable unit I'd say it's good and if you're into; really into new tech built in menus that are not truly 'intuitive', then consider this one.
