It is capable of detecting various sizes, scanning both sides at once, and if quick, relatively quiet, and great for document organization. Scans are always clear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scan Fast The scanner is easy to set up by following the instruction. Be careful, don’t connect before the software is installed in your computer. You do need to download the scanning software, it takes a couple of minutes, but nothing rocket science. One thing that I want to mention is, it only has the software for either windows or MacBook. It doesn’t work for chrome book, has to be one of these “real” laptop. It only took one scan to scan both sides of the paper, and it scans fast. Software is nothing complicate, just scan and save.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Simple Set-up I absolutely love my Canon image Formula R40 Office Document Scanner. This scanner does everything I need it for and is super simple to use. My computer skills are pretty limited so now I have something I, myself, can set up and use on my own. Set up was super easy. Download the software, plug 2 cables in, and you’re good to go. It can scan double sided, which is amazing. It's really easy to delete blank pages from a document, it can delete multiples as well. It can scan multiple pages at a time and if a page is not in straight, the scanner seems pretty smart because it fixes the problem itself. There is not a need to restart if a paper jams up, you just simply remove the page. This machine is absolutely perfect.

The con is that is has no wifi. At least I know where my items are now. The quality is great. The value is fair. I totally recommend this to everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fast and easy to use! I am so happy to get my hands on this imageFORMULA R40 Office Document Scanner. I use this a lot since I am sending a lot of documents to my family overseas. It makes sending documents easier, faster and free. The images are very clear as well. Before this I use an app on my cellphone to scan and I have to purchase the app to be able to use it to its maximum service. And the images are not even that clear. It also doesn’t look professional as the image depends on how good you are in taking a snap of each document that you need to scan. If your hands are not steady, then expect a not so good result. But this image scanner, makes it much easier. It is very easy to set up and use. It’s pretty straight forward. It is very fast as well in terms of completing a scan for pages of documents you put in the feed. I also scanned an 8x10 photo and I am very much pleased with how clear the result was. I highly recommend this. This is a must have in every office and household!

This is with a brand new MacBook Air M1 processor running Big Sur. It worked perfectly on an intel based Mac. Since the M1 was announced months ago, I am disappointed that Canon hasn't updated their software and drivers to make the scanner fully functional on the M1.

I really appreciate that this scanner does exactly what you need it to without any fluff or extra things to break. It feels solid like it will last a long time. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and good value! One of my hobbies requires scanning many documents, and I was using an old printer/scanner combo unit that simply wasn't cutting it anymore. My old scanner was extremely inefficient and always had technical issues. I decided to try this new R40 document scanner by Cannon and I'm extremely pleased! The software they offer is easy to use and configure, and it's very flexible. Images are also clear and very high quality, which is critical for my hobby. Overall, the scanner is very intuitive and I haven't encountered any technical issues yet. The only downside is it seems a bit slow for a dedicated document scanner, but it's still more efficient than my old process. I wish I would have purchased this months ago because I would have saved hours of my life! All in all, this is a quality scanner at a great price from a trusted brand. If you're on the fence about it, I'd recommend giving it a shot!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I bought this about 4 years ago for my MAC and I still love it. Today I tried to use my scanner and it said that "R40.ds" is damaged so I couldn't use my scanner. I called Canon support. The support desk person was really patient and nice and walked me through the proper steps! So glad that I called. My scanner is working fine now

I do accounting for 2 personally owned businesses. I use it mostly for scanning in receipts, contracts, quotes, and invoices. I've also done some pictures of completed projects and the quality is very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Canon R40 scanner Purchased the Canon as a replacement for a Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner, which would not work with Mac Catalina OS. The Canon works great and yes there is a slight learning curve because the software is different. I do wish that the OCR software that's available for Windows was also available for Mac, but it's not.

You can output the scanned document to different file types if needed, but it works great for scanning hard copies into searchable PDFs. We used it to back up binders full of documents and it was fast and reliable. Really nice product.

I already have a combo printer that has the scan option but this machine is much quicker and saves a lot of time. The set up is very easy and I was scanning documents in no time. The machine is not very big which is great if you have limited desk space. It scanned all of my documents onto my computer and I was able to easily organize them digitally. This is so much better than having stacks of papers everywhere! The quality of the scanned images is really clear. This has made working from home a lot easier!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for small office use This scanner is great, it scans paper from both sides, can scan even small items like receipts. I don't like how bulky it is, as I've had to move it from one office to another room quite often. I work from home due to the pandemic and I'm an office manager, and it's been great for me to use from home. Its scanning capabilities are great, you get about 200 DPI with scanning both sides of paper with well quality. The thing is, if you have a big packet of paper that you want to scan, the auto-rotate feature isn't that amazing. It works if you only have a couple papers and some are upside down. But with a big packet, it doesn't work as well. For the price, it's pretty good. You may need a flatbed scanner instead though if you have any papers that you want to scan that has any pencil writing on it. Any ink or toner printed items and need to scanned, this is the item for you.

I have been working from home and need to scan documents very often, often times 3-5 documents a day. This scanner works very efficiently and was able to connect to my work laptop very efficiently. The quality of the scan is also very accurate and looks great! Set up was also extremely straight forward.

It is perfect for a small office that needs to scan a bundle of papers efficiently without any supervision. This worked right out of the box, just plugged it in, and use my Mac's preview "file > import from scanner" option and I was off to the races. It also has other features that I am going to probably look in to next month. But overall, I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and efficient! This scanner is perfect for home or office! You can load up to 60 pieces of paper at a time and it can scan both single and double-sided documents. As a serious bonus, it can scan to color. I really love that it can scan to different types of digital formats and to a variety of places such as email and the Cloud. This makes it super simple to take the next step and fax and/or email documents as needed once you scan the document. The feeder works so smoothly regardless of how many papers you load. I've scanned single pages and even tried scanning 50 pages at a time, both worked flawlessly. It is also super quiet so perfect for a home office. I just love this scanner. It has been the BEST addition to my home office.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, clear, and small footprint For my home office I've always wanted a scanner that I could use to keep receipts and documents saved electronically. The problem has been that many "flat" scanners would take up too much space on my desk and would end up being unwieldy. With the imageFORMULA R40, I can scan quickly (and in color) and it is nearly vertical so uses up almost the same space as my water bottle if laid flat on the table. Great product, Canon always delivers!

It arrived this weekend, I set it up in just a few minutes, and then I was ready to try it out. I actually have a few items I needed to scan for my daughter's school so I tested it out. It worked great! The images came through clear and crisp. It's pretty compact too. Just a little wider than your 8 1/2 paper. Very pleased with this scanner. I can see I will be using it frequently for work items and personal.

It's perfect for any size document or picture and is like having an extra person helping you. This document scanner is compatible with Windows & Mac operating systems and has a double-sided scanning option with auto document feeder of 60 sheets. Setup is simple. Just connect the USB, push the button and it just starts scanning. It"s relatively fast and accurate. It does scan to various formats like pdf, jpg, tiff, bmp, png, pptx and has options to store in folder, send as email, print, drop box, google drive, OneDrive, QuickBooks. It supports most business-oriented scanning like business card, plastic/credit card, post card, receipts, legal/A4 documents. It can scan documents as small as 2 x 2 inches with the maximum of 4000 scans every day. Overall there is alot of features and it's at a great value.

I used to have to scan mail/letters on the copy machine, which meant scanning one page at a time to accommodate pages of different sizes. This scanner makes it so much easier - I can just put everything in (envelope too) and it scans both sides in seconds. It saves me a ton of time.

Setup was easy, but you have to download the software which is 525 MB. Installation went with no problem. The feeder works great with multiple documents and nothing hs jammed so far. The image quality is very high and the PDF file size is small, so it won't clog up your hard drive. The autofeed is amazing, so fast, no jams of uncorrelated sized documents. Great quality scanner at a great price. If you're on the fence about it, I'd buy it.

First, it is super simple to set up , which is a huge plus . Second, it scans back and front and easily converts to searchable digital files. We have been able to eliminate tons of paper clutter and create a more streamlined way to store important documents. I wish I would have found this sooner! Everyone needs this, trust me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scanner! Set up was so easy. I had no problem with software on my Mac. It's light and compact so easy to move around. I can't stop scanning. There are so many documents I can scan and shred so I don't have so much paper all over. It works great and easy to use. I have not tried photo's yet but that's my next project. I have some very old family photos that I need to scan before they disintegrate.

I have windows 10 and it's new enough it should work with it. Its frustrating to the point that even though this unit is not even 1 year old yet I am researching another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Software will not upload despite 75 minutes on the phone with Canon I have just spent 3 hours trying to unsuccessfully download the software for the R 40 scanner I received from Amazon this morning.. It was exceedingly difficult via voice recognition, but I was able to reach a Canon technical support representative on the phone. While clearly a nice guy, he and I spent 1 hour and 15 minutes on the phone with trying every conceivable way to load the software. The driver appears to have been installed correctly, but the software would not load. Inevitably, a prompt would state my computer operating system was not supported. My IMAC is only 3 years old with version 10.12.6. What a ridiculous waste of time. This scanner will be returned. SE

Set up was a breeze and I was able to start using it right away. I love that I have the ability to save my documents under different formats but typically save them as a pdf since it has worked really good for me when I want to attach them to an email. My documents scan much faster than when I used to fax things. This is really great thing to have on hand if you need to get your documents scanned!

I can't believe how great this has been for all of my document tracking. It's compact and really enjoyed the 'plug and play' setup. It's so quick and easy to upload documents in a matter of minutes due to the double sided scanning method. You can also choose the different files type that you'd need pdf, jpeg, and more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked well with Windows 10 but not Windows 11 It worked well before we got a new Windows 11 PC. Now it says "Problem with TWAIN Driver" 1. Reinstalled driver a number of times - no difference 2. Canon website gives server error when tried to download latest driver, which is 6 months old anyway. 3. even after reinstalling to the newer driver, it still doesn't connect and gives errors. Apparently, Canon's software did not update the driver and left the old Microsoft-supplied driver from 2019. 4. As such, the scanner is UNUSABLE

It is compact, plug and play capabilities and ready to go after setup. The documents are easily scanned and produce a PDF file instantly to forward or to attach to a supporting email. Highly recommend for paperless office.

Thanks to my Canon image FORMULA R40, I have said goodbye to my storage issues! It scans fast and with precision. Moreover, it does not take up a lot of space on my desk, so that is another benefit. It saves me time because it can double scan, and the paper does not jam either. This is a high quality scanner that I plan to use for a long time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow this is fast This is the first real scanner I have owned and it is light years ahead of an all-in-one printer. It took FOREVER to scan documents/pictures on that thing. With this scanner, I was able to load legal sheets of paper as well as cards (at different times) in the top of the scanner and it just fed them through perfectly and quickly. Set up was a breeze and it is easy enough to change the settings, if necessary. Wireless would be more convenient but I knew what I was getting with this scanner and I am very satisfied.

This scanner is one of them. It scans documents really quickly and at great quality. There is not much more you can ask for from that.

We had years of tax docs, recipes, mortgage papers, etc. cluttering up our house. Within a weekend with this scanner it was all gone and saved on our computers. Extremely efficient and the scan's come through unbelievably clean. It has changed the way we organize our lives, highly recommend!

Was able to start scanning real quick. The items you’re scanning done get jammed. It operates very smoothly and high quality scans. Printing quality is also very high and very fast.

I enjoyed trying the printer a Canon Image Formula R-40 and it printed well as well as the scan feature was very nice and easy to use but it has one major flaw in my opinion. It is not wi-fi and wireless compatible so it has to be connected to the device its printing from. In the world we live in today with so much printing being done in the fly in my opinion that's a major inconvenience. As long as you don't need that type of flexibility I highly recommend the printer for all your uses. If you need the flexibility of wireless than I can't recommend it to you. Overall I rate it a 3.for 3 stars Average.

I have been working virtually for six years now both at my main job as well as a notary and scanning paperwork has become one of the many tedious tasks I have been making do with a flatbed scanner on. Now I have a chance to try the imageFORMULA R40 Office Document Scanner from Canon and I’m like “where have you been all these years!”. This little piece of office hardware has become an immediate god send to me in my work with it’s double sided scanning and it’s FAST 40ppm scan speed in low resolution and slower yet still zippy speed at high resolution. That said lets dive in! Packaging/In the Box – The scanner was well packaged with cardboard blocks in multiple levels locking it into place. The contents were easily removed and well placed to locate. In the box you will find the manual and paperwork, top paper guide, USB cable, adapter and cord, and the unit itself. Assembly consisted of simply removing the protective bags, the protective foam inserts and shipping tape and an easy to miss orange guard where the paper inserts at the top, MAKE SURE to get this out before use. Snap on the upper paper guide and you are ready to plug it in and get going on the installation to your computer. Installation/Setup – Install was a breeze with windows 11 preview and I am sure it will be as well with windows 10 and mac. Install the software and you are up and running. Really there is not much to tell here as, with pretty much any newer plug and play peripherals they install fast and all that’s ever really left is straightforward bundled software installs. Use – The imageFORMULA R40 Office Document Scanner is as easy to use as just inserting the documents and pushing the start button but as I use it I find that it also ignores blank pages AND correctly rotates upside down sheets!!!! This is a game changer from my perspective with all the paperwork I handle on a regular basis! All this and I still haven’t gotten into OCR but from my understanding it has that capability as well! My Final thoughts on the Canon imageFORMULA R40 Office Document Scanner is that it is a game changer for me and I think ANYONE that has been using flatbed scanners or even the all in one printer scanners for their home office scanning. Thank you Canon you have definitely helped my productivity! Oh and did I say this scans pretty much everything, down to receipts, checks, and business cards? Well it does!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and clear image I got this to help me clear out old papers. My wife gets tired of my piles of papers. It was packed well, easy to get out and put all the trays on it. I like the software, it's easy to upload things to Google Drive. And you can search the documents! I didn't realize it does business cards so that was a cool thing to find out. It seems to go about as fast as it advertised 40 pages per minute. And so far it hasn't had any jams. So it's doing a lot better than my old printer and scanner in one. I like that it's small and compact when the trays aren't out. It fits on my lower desk shelf when I'm not using it.

I do wish it was a bit smaller, but it would fit perfectly on a large sized desk. It is easy to use and self explanatory set up. My favorite feature is the scanning feature for photos, they turn out high resolution. Highly recommend

You scan your documents, and it loads right into the computer to save. no more holding on to papers forever. This scanner was great. It's super-fast and easy. I love that you can scan directly to the cloud, it loads fast it has really high-quality images after scanning. Very dependable and reliable. Myself and my wife work from home and this document scanner is perfect for our needs. We have had other scanners but none with the quality and compact footprint this scanner has. It was delivered in a very smart package and easy to set up. The instructions were very easy to follow and worked on the first try. As you can see in the picture it is very compact but don’t let that stop you if you have larger jobs to scan. We scan with it almost everyday and have not had a single problem with it. I am very happy to review this product and look forward to using it for a very long time due to the quality features it has.

I have been using this to save receipts to scan to my computer! Works great for when you need to scan multiple documents! Scans in color or black and white. Very easy to use! Over the past few years, I've resorted to using my phone to scan documents and let me tell you, when you can put in 25 pages and have them scan through quickly and efficiently. I'm glad speed can be adjusted based on quality needs and I'm thoroughly impressed with its compact size and sleek look. Canon nailed it with the R40. Now, when my son finished drawing his cartoons or my wife needs a series of documents scanned for work, we can quickly and easily tackle that job.

This thing is 100x better than a flatbed scanner, and doesn't jam like my inkjet will (nor will it skew the document)! This thing is amazing! Finally, I can scan all of my documents and this scanner just makes it so easy to keep organized! Set up was a breeze (but I do have a tech background, so it's second nature to me). I can't wait to find out what bells and whistles I have been missing by using this more and more. 5/5 - definitely recommend!

You have to remember to download the software first before connecting the scanner to your computer. It is very simple and user friendly. You are able to scan the document to a folder, an email address, to print, to a Dropbox, a google drive, and other virtual drives. High recommended. Minimum 40 pages per minute in Simplex mode. The file can be saved to various formats such as PDF, JPG, and other files types.

I have a small business along with 13 kids..I am a saver of sorts and have found this is the best way to save all those fun things your kids have written and drawn over the years along with the business parts of saving everything from the flyer and business cards to taxes well empty those filing cabinets and keep everything on one place..Amazing!! When anyone needs a certain something they can go get it now instead of digging..Images are wonderful..so putting together scarp books for these kids has become alot of fun...Heck saving and scanning is fun now.. The scanner is easy to set up and with the proper program installation, it was up and running quickly. It handles a combination of different sizes easily as well. You do need to distinguish between files- if you put a big stack of different papers, it will see it as one file unless you tell it otherwise. No more just in case saving..I love this!! We as a family n business owners highly recommend ImageFormula R40 Office Scanner for home or office !!

The best thing about this scanner is that I can scan both sides at once, which is a big time saver for me. I've been trying to get more organized at home and get rid of paper clutter, and this scanner is helping me do the job! Downloading and installing the software was easy. Once installed, the scan function was simple, and the software has the options I need to become more organized and efficient. This scanner is my new favorite office product in the house and makes me want to become even more organized. You can't go wrong with a good Canon scanner!

Fast, easy to setup, with plenty of settings to adjust the output. (I use a third party imaging application so I emailed tech support and installed the "twain" driver instead of the "full driver and software package.")

There is 1 option I wish this scanner would have - the file name number auto restart. I mean the file name number restarts each time I press the scan button so I can group the images by file name numbers.

I have been putting off purging the paper documents in my large file cabinet - and I finally got the R40 and it has been a workhorse for me. I can scan a stack of papers into a pdf in a matter of minutes. The setup was super easy - go to the site and download the Windows or Mac software (I have a Mac), install it, plug in the scanner and start scanning. I couldn't be happier with this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic device with great features We intended to use this only as a document scanner, but found that it can also be used to send faxes and documents much smoother than our actual scanner/copier/fax machine. As far as scanning documents, the device is quick and relatively quiet (not any louder than a standard all-in-one printer device). It pulls the documents through at a reasonably good speed. We used the software a bit and it seems easy enough to install and use. It has some nice features like color correcting on receipts that may not show up as dark as needed, etc. We had a smaller pill cylinder shaped scanner before but found that one too clunky to use for a lot of documents at once. We also did not have much success with our flatbed scanner as it took too long to swap out pages, especially when they were double-sided. This scanner fixes all those issues. It is larger and bulkier than the small scanner, but less bulky that our all-in-one with the flatbed scanner. If you have the space for it, and have a lot of documents to scan, this works great and is much faster than the other options. The software makes it super easy to archive and organize documents. It will take time to work through a backlog of documents we want to save, but this seems to be the best tool we could have chosen for the job and we highly recommend it over the more compact versions or the larger all-in-one machines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Just got our Cannon USA Image Formula R40 Office Document Scanner recently. I just set up the scanner, and it was super easy to do. Just a power cord and a USB 2.0 cord. Then a simple snap in of the document feeder tray, and a software download. The resolution is really good at 600 dpi. The speed is fine at 40 docs a minute. It automatically turns on when you put a doc in. Then, turns off automatically after 10 minutes of idle use. Uses 22 watts or less, -- and is great on the low power consumption bills. It automatically detects color or black and white docs. Can thicken lines or images that were light to begin with. Will stop if two pages are accidentally fed together. Won't scan a blank page if there is one. Has an automatic color enhancement mode. We scanned the tax docs and they came out really crisp and clear. It is nice to know that I can scan business cards or ID cards. Easy to send docs to computer files. This unit is really quiet and smooth. This Cannon R40 does it all. The software even updates automatically, WOW. One chore that I do not like to keep up on. The unit chassis is made solid and sleek. Great for the mom/pop businesses, the high end lawyers office, and all points in between.

It’s the quickest and clearest scanner I’ve ever had…I scanned four pages in a matter of seconds due the ability to scan both sides of a paper at the same time. It also has the ability to save things you scan as different file types…pdf, jpeg, etc. This scanner is going to allow me to start getting away from paper and be able to store documents more easily electronically!

It was straightforward and fast to install and set up. The scanning feature is easy to use. I really like how it gets all the random paper in my home all into searchable files that are collected in one place. No more searching for a particular warranty or handwritten note. I can see how this would be useful for people in all fields and stages of life. From the quality of scanning and relative ease of use, to the functionality, this is a great machine that I would gladly recommend!

I tried hooking up to my computer but it didn't like that so I use it on my phone. Not sure what issue is but it comes and goes. Other then that it copies pretty fast. Easy to put together. Instructions on how to use is rather easy as well. I unplug when I don't need it what I found helps with error of not wanting to read the paper.

I am heavily into family history research and frequently scan documents into my family history database, otherwise I would have too much paper littering up my house. The scanner was easy to set up and connect with a USB cable. In the absence of WiFi connectivity, this is the next best thing. I like that it recognizes different page sizes in the same scanning pile, and can do both single or double sided scans. Most of my documents I need to retain in PDF format but I like to scan photographs in JPEG format too. This scanner is capable of both formats plus more. There are a variety of output options The scanner itself is fairly lightweight and doesn't take up too much room on my desk. My life is made easier by virtue of the Automatic Document Feeder which certainly cuts down on the workload. Laboriously scanning individual sheets on my old flatbed was a real chore. This new machine is very impressive when it comes to speed and it zips through a multi-page document in no time. The fact that you simply need to load the ADF and press one button is amazing. When I do this, the software window opens on my laptop and I can see the progress of my scan job. Fabulous piece of equipment and very happy with it.

Once I got it installed to run, it works flawlessly. I have been using it to put all of my home and utility bills into the computer first off. It runs seamlessly and helps keep all of my paperwork clutter free since now they are all in my computer.

And they take up so much space, and it is quite hard, and takes a lot of time to find something when I need it, even though I’m pretty organized. But now with this awesome scanner, I’ve already scanned more than half my sheets onto my laptop! It takes so quick, and now I can simply find what I need on my computer and print it…I love it! So easy to set up, simple to use, and all around perfect for my needs. Looking forward to getting all my papers scanned soon!

I wanted to get rid of my old paper, files, medical record and create readable, searchable and organized digital copy of my old records. This was the perfect solution, with scanning speed of 40 papers per minute and automatic sliders just simplifies the process. Application associated with the device seems to lack good user experience. Apart of from the s/w, i think this is very good product and would highly recommend.

I have had a number of documents that I needed to scan into pdf docs and this scanner has made that job a breeze. It is so compact and easy to setup. What I love most about the Doc Scanner is that it fits perfectly atop my corner table. I use this mostly for documents. I hate having so much paper all over my desk. Now I can easily scan them, shred them, and save the documents to my cloud.

I spent all day scanning and updating my files. Hook up was fairly easy and it does not take up a lot of space. I also like all the options it gives you once you scan your paper of what to do with the files.

No scanning one side and pulling the paper back in to scan the other side like most all-in-one printers do. The Canon R40 document scanner is efficient, easy to use, lightweight, and takes up little space on the desktop (except when the exit tray is pulled out). I am very happy with it and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to scan documents quickly.

You can feed a ton of docs into it at once and it handles them with ease. Setup is easy and it is quite usable. The only drawback is no wifi/Bluetooth connectivity for use with a phone. This would push it over the top to 5 stars.

Setting up this scanner to my computer was super simple! The directions were very helpful. I simply connected the included USB cord and downloaded the software and within no time, my scanner was ready to go! The size of this scanner is perfect! I was pleasantly surprised with just how compact this scanner is, it takes up minimal space on my desk! This scanner works great and has so many great features! The skip blank page function is great along with the prescan function which allows you to adjust the brightness and contrast of your images. One of my favorite features of this scanner is the deskew feature! If I happen to scan a document that is not straight or if a previous document was not straight, this feature will straighten the images for me prior to saving them! How awesome is that! Scanning documents is super easy and fast with this scanner! This scanner is able to scan both sides of a document at once and can do up to 40 pages per minute with a simple touch of a button! The scanner does great with handling multiple document sizes and I have had no issues with any documents getting jammed in the feeder. The quality of the scanned documents is great. This scanner has definitely made my life more organized by having all of my documents now in digital format. So much less clutter in my office! I also started to use this scanner for all of my receipts and invoices which is going to be super helpful at tax time to have everything all in one place. This scanner is also great for uploading your photos! This scanner by Canon has it all. If you are looking to update your scanner or in the market for a new one, I definitely recommend this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product This scanner is just what I needed, the material is very strong, it has buttons that look and feel very resistant, I can place 100 sheets without problem, it does it very quickly, it recognizes the direction the sheet should have and places it accordingly. correct way in case you have placed it in a bad position. The application is very easy to use, it has everything easy to choose where you want to place the newly scanned document or if you want to print it directly, it also has for you to add preferences and they are saved, I think something that helps you too much takes away from choosing options if you regularly do the same with every document you scan. I would have liked it to have the option of Wi-Fi but I definitely recommend it, it is very practical and easy to use.

Mostly it can scan any size item and up top 40 ppm, Before I would have to hand feed my flat bed scanner and it would take forever to load documents. This scanner uses multi formats and can be sent to many different destinations directly from the unit.This machine has already earned it's keep.

Only downside is it's a little bulky. I had a hard time finding a place to put. This is purely personal preference and use-case, though. YMMV.

I’ve used this with my OneNote program and it works great for all different types of scans, from JPEG to PDF. You’ll also enjoy how easy it is to scan and save. It’s holds up to 60 pages I believe. The adjustable holding tray gives you plenty of different size options for scanning anything from a business card to full size notebook page. I highly recommend this for anybody that needs to have a daily scanner on hand.

I do most of my work on the computer but somehow I always end up with papers that need to be scanned, this Canon R40 documents scanner allows me to simply and quickly upload all those pesky documents for safe keeping and storage. The scanner is very easy to set up, it is intuitive to use and the resolution is good. I highly recommend this scanner if you are setting up a home office!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got this to clean up my "stacks" I have a stack problem. Stacks of Christmas Cards, stacks of mail, stacks of documents.... just stacks. When I saw this scanner I immediately thought that this might be able to help me with my "stack" problem. And it has! I absolutely love the high volume features of this scanner. I'm able to drop a stack of documents into the scanner and just let it rip. From there I can use OCR text recognition to go back and search the files for things - If I ever need to find them. Fabulous!

Namely; pediatrician updates, tax/govt paperwork and I'm the type of person that needs to shuffle the papers around and file them otherwise I feel unorganized. Auto-feed - simply put a pile on top and the scanner does the rest 5. Speed - about a document every 2 seconds. 6. Image quality is really good. OCR is really good. Cons 1. No wifi capability, only USB. You have to keep it connected to a system via USB. Depending on use case, this may or may not be an issue. Most people don't have to move the scanners once connected. Overall rating 4/5

Didn’t take a lot of hassle to get it up and running which is a plus for some people because there are not so tech savvy people who still just doesn’t get things! I was able to set up a document link to DevonTHINK, and with one touch on the scanner, it scanned images and pipe them directly into my DevonTHINK Inbox. Images are clear and great quality , and the issues I had with my other scanner feeding multiple pages and jamming (constantly) hasn't happened yet on the R40. It has multiple settings that you can adjust to twerk your document just how you would like and the speed it scan the documents at you can get loads of paperwork scanned in just a short amount of time It even aligned the page for me itself!So Win Win for me ! I used take so much time Scanning my documents and saving it, printing or emailing it. Now with this AMAZING scanner I can program the multiple(10) one click buttons options to send my documents to their destination with just a single click. the scanner comes with 10 different Job selection buttons that you can easily setup to fit your needs How can anyone go wrong with this amazing scanner ! I am a bit technically challenged when it comes to anything electronic. This setup was super easy and it installed flawlessly. I love the fact that is can scan both sides of the page and if I feed it a blank page, it will recognize there is no text. The auto feed function works well..zero jams so far. But the best part about this machine is the image quality. It’s superb!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Scanner, Bad Noise I bought this scanner for a big project a few weeks ago (I needed to scan documents at work for a few hours everyday), and it works great for what I need to get done. The scanner is really easy to use, and the features are great for what I am doing. I just have one problem with it; the scanner makes a high pitched noise that begins to give me a headache after using it for a while. It is a big issue for me considering how much scanning I am doing everyday. I would definitely recommend this scanner for someone who isn't going to use it for long periods of time, but I would recommend going with a quieter scanner if you are going to be scanning documents on a regular basis.

We scan ALOT of paperwork for our household and business and this unit was far more efficient than our normall all in one printer for scanning. We are switching. Fast and easy to use. I love the fact that you don't need to buy anything else for it to work normally you have to buy the plug that goes from the scanner to the computer but this one actually comes with the scanner. Just plugged it up and plugged it to the computer and within minutes it was ready to go. Installing was a really easy process as well. No cd to download just plug it up and the computer does the rest. This scanner lets you scan documents and put them in files on your computer so no more holding on to paper copies. The picture on the computer looks just like the paper you just scanned. Then when you need a hard copy all you have to do is look it up on the computer and print another one off. Or if you need to send a copy through the internet all you have to do is just pull it from your files. I really love this scanner. Doesn't weight too much so easy to take apart and carry it along with you anywhere you need it.

I love using this as apposed to scanning every piece of paper needed to upload or scan somewhere. The learning process is simple, it is not intimidating nor complicated. I feel all ease that I have another “copy” filed in case something happens to the documents. It is super easy to set up- directions are clear. This is great for work or home. I had to look at the instructions to see how the output tray needed to be assembled in little time was no problem. My favorite feature was the quick and simple plug in and set-up.I had documents scanned quickly and was able to put them on my cloud safe and sound. Scanning was fast and easy met my expectations for storing important documents. Great packaging and a good product for those looking to transfer from paper to electronic documents.

This scanner easily scans just about everything imaginable including business cards, plastic cards, post cards, receipts, you name it! The Canon Image Formula R40 brings scanning to a whole new level as you can scan up to 60 sheets into various folders, emails, applications and drives of varying sizes, weight and the documents can even be inserted upside down and even better blank sheets are skipped during the scanning process. Scanned documents can be saved in a myriad of files such as PDF, JPG, BMP, PNG, PPTX and TIFF. As an added bonus the scanner does single pass double-sided scanning. I have been successful at scanning my documents and storing them in easy to find folders on my computer eliminating a desk and file full of various receipts and documents used in my home. Tax time will be so much easier this year. My goal has always been to have my home office organized and this scanner does it all so easily. Directions are easy to follow for installation and this scanner well replaced my old scanner. Every office needs such an efficient easy to use scanner! My only wish is that the scanner was wifi enabled and a bit more compact as it does take a bit of desk space. This scanner is OS, Windows and Mac compatible.

My wife often needed to go into the office for scanning large amounts of documents, however we’ve really been able to avoid that now that we have one that can handle large jobs. The setup was very easy and is compatible with both our computers. It’s heftier than I expected but that’s a good thing. Made from quality materials and appears to be long-lasting. Scan quality and resolution have been high. Overall, I’m very happy and would highly recommend grabbing one for home or office work.

Don't let the term "office document scanner" trick you into believing this scanner is one of the typical huge office scanners, that is not the case here. Was rather easy for me to set up, but I do deal with printers and scanners for a living. Syncs up easily and you can easily scan items to email or even a Dropbox. Due to covid restrictions getting to the library to scan documents has been a hassle involving me sliding my documents thru a mail slot, hoping the clerk does the job the right way but now with my own at home document scanner I do not have to worry about relying on others.

We have to scan documents regularly for our small business and this Canon scanner is perfect for our needs. Documents are easy to load and output/quality is very high. This is such a life changer! Highly recommend if you can documents on a regular basis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slower than expected The scanner was easy to inbox. Almost plug and play minus the setup. Instructions are easy to follow and the end result is what you want with a scanned item onto your device but the time it took from scanning an item and it being available on the computure did not make the scanner a practical device for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! This document scanner works as advertised. The software was easy to use on a Mac. I have used it with different document sizes and the scanner worked well across these different sizes. I would recommend this scanner to others looking for a easy to use scanner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Driver Issue At first, the Canon R40 Scanner worked beautifully, for about two years. Then all of a sudden, it disconnected from the laptop and despite trying to reinstall the software, it failed to connect. Looks like it's a common issue on the Canon discussion board with no support from Canon.
