24-105 L lens
Great build and the photos are great.
My only criticism is that it’s heavy! Paired with the 5D Mark IV it’s a lot to lug around.

Great general use lens.
High quality L series zoom lens at a great price. Nice general use lens for most applications. I have shot about 30 test photos so far on a 5DSR with excellent results. I was a bit apprehensive about buying a refurbished lens and any concern I had has diminished.

Wonderful Lens
I recently purchased the 5DM4 with this lens and I have to say that it impressed me with it sharpness, clarity, and speed even zoomed to the 105mm. I upgraded from a 70D. This lens gave me beautiful bokeh with my close ups and headshots.

Love this lens!
I bought this before a trip to the National Parks in the Pacific Northwest and I am so glad that I did. I did not use any other lens on the whole trip. This lens was very versatile, sharp, and the image stabilizer was very useful.

Optically comparable.
I bought this lens to replace the 24-105mm F4 version 1. Nothing scientific, but it seems the new version is comparable optically to the previous version. Is it better by a landslide, well, that I cannot be certain. I do like the lock switch to prevent the lens from creeping down when the lens is pointed downward. Is a bit heavier, but not a deal breaker. The focus is very responsive and quick like the older version. The color rendition is good. This new version has a coating that suppresses flaring against high contrast scenes. I shot some images with bright light coming from back of the subject, but still is not convince that the new lens is that much better than the previous version in this regard. Overall, I am still fine with this purchase.

Impeccable lens
This lens helps so much to aid in getting great shots inside where light is low. I m just learning about the lens bit by bit. It would have been nice if you folks would have sent a pamphlet explaining how to work the lens. Non the less it is a great lens

Serious Lens
I did replace my 24-105 Mark 1 with new mark 2. The new one is tougher along with modern design. The focus and zoom rings are well placed and versatile. Image stabilization works excellent and much better than the previous version. Sharpness improved but the colors and contrast stay as well (somehow a bit lower contrast than its predecessor). It is longer and heavier than mark I, which is not very welcomed and takes bigger place in my bag. AF is speedy and dead on. I did a comparison with 24-70 f/4 IS at 24mm, which new lens succeed the sharpness in the center and right corner but not visible different in the left corner, possibly my copy is not well centered. Overall, I like the new baby… Thanks Canon!

A little better than the original
I just got this to replace my 2006 24-105 MKI model. That one was like new since I took care of it, other than a little barrel creep when pointing down. I figured I would trade it in and try the new one.
After some testing, I don't notice a huge difference. The MKII seems a little sharper overall. The IS seems much quieter, which is great especially when shooting video (but this is not an ideal video lens in the first place in my opinion). So that's a bonus. I don't notice the longer length so much; the increased weight is noticeable only when holding them side by side. Not a deal-breaker at all.
Overall, I'm happy with the upgrade. This is a great everyday lens. No lens does it all, but this covers plenty of applications.

Awesome lens! I wished I had purchased it sooner. The IS allows for shutter speeds that are unbelievably low with great results. Also when combined with extension tubes I can get some great macro shots. I have only used it on my full frame camera (5D Mark iv but I expect simular results from my crop sensor camera. Great job Canon!

Perfect walk-around lens
I am very pleased with this lens. I had compared it to the 24 - 70 L and made the decision that the extra focal length would be better for my style of photography. Less glass than the f 2.8 makes it easier to carry all day and the extra stretch (105 mm comes in handy. Nice bokeh and very sharp. I am impressed with the stabilization since I shoot mainly without tripod.

I bought this lens with a 6D mk 2 a year ago. I have not taken a bad photo with it, except when I didn't set everything perfectly. When I shoot full auto, the camera does a fantastic job with this lens. I have not found a mode in which it does not work.

First L lens and it didn’t disappoint! Sharp, versatile zoom range and IS! What more could you ask for. Love it! Only thing that took some getting used to is the larger size and heavier weight verses USM lenses I was using before.

Still Canon's best versatile zoom!
Still Canon's best versatile zoom! This new 24-105 is a worthy purchase. I've owned the Mark I version three times, the 24-70 f/2.8 II, and the 24-70 f/4. My major disappointment with the f/2.8 II was lack of IS. The 24-70mm f/4 was very nice since it had IS, but I still missed that 105mm!
After a little bit of AFMA, the lens is superb! Quick focusing, sharp images (much improved in corners), and lets in more light than the previous version.
No, it doesn't have 2.8, but the IS is better than the first version, so that helps tremendously with slow moving subjects. You can shoot everything from wide landscapes to head and should portraits with nice bokeh. Yes, you lose some quality when compared to the 24-70s, but that is pure physics. This is the best compromise between image quality and focal range in my experience.

Your new favorite everyday lens
Great every day lens, I use it for almost anything. I can always count on getting most shots with this lens when I’m out and about. I’ve had it a couple weeks now and I fell in love instantly. The clarity is amazing and I’m getting some of the best photos I’ve ever gotten! Wonderful lens, not super open with an f4 but it does it’s job well every single time.

Great Lens but
Great lens. Not as good as my primes or 70-200 2.8 and 100-400, but, decent. Some pictures are great, others not so much. Could be operator error, but, my other lens produce consistent excellent results. Switched from the 24-70 L4 for the additional reach. This lens has fewer sharp keepers than my others, but, it is a good outside good light lens.

I received a defective copy and a refund.
The refurbished copy of this lens that I received was electrically defective. The image stabilization motor came on at random times and did the opposite of its intended purpose. It also came on (consistently) when I was using the EOS utility to transfer pictures to my computer. To Canon's credit, they took the lens back and issued me a refund.
In between electrical failures, I attempted to evaluate this lens but I had limited success. My impression was that it maintains exceptional image quality across a broad range of focal ratios and was particularly impressive at f4. However, it seemed to be much less sharp from 24mm to 35mm than it was at 50mm and above. But, due to the electrical issues this copy was having, it any optical evaluation might be inaccurate.
In any event, after returning this lens, I bought a new Canon EF 24–105mm f/4L IS USM from a Canon dealer and I'm thrilled with it. It's amazingly sharp (even out to the edges) over its entire range and maintains that sharpness, pretty much regardless of the focal ratio.

Focus for portraits seems soft
This lens cam in the kit with our EOS D5 Mark IV. The camera body is great and tack sharp with all of our other lenses but the portraits we have taken with this lens were underwhelming and soft overall at multiple focal lengths. I was shocked that a Canon pro series lens would render such poor results. It is brand new so i have contacted Canon support because I do not believe the performance of this lens should be this poor. They suggested cleaning the contact and mailing it to their repair department if that does not work. I cannot include photos because they are client portraits.
