I tested a few lenses to replace my 24-70. This by far exceeded my needs. Loving it!

No other option...
What I like about it:
The lens feels well built, the focus and zoom rings are very smooth, on a 5D Mark IV the focusing is very fast and it's very sharp, so yes, this lens is deserving the nice red ring.
What I don't like about it:
While everything else is great, the extreme vignette pretty much kills the excitement.
It's very difficult to shoot when the scene has a higher dynamic range than usual and recover the corners in post. Hopefully the next version will be better.

Essential element
Took this lens to China and used it under various conditions from cloudy and misty to night to sunshine to fog/pollution and got wonderful results. Sharp shots even without IS and handheld. Shot pics at night going through the Gorges Dam. Paired it with a Canon 5d Mark III.

The Sharpest of the 16-35 Series yet.
In February I made a trip to Yosemite National Park. I took with me 1DXII, 5Ds, 16-35III, 70-200 2.8 II and 200-400 4 with 1.4 built in. I was there for 5 days and got some of the sharpest images I have ever made using the 16-35 III. I was able to compare it to the 16-35 II that a friend had with us. Both lenses are sharp but the series III is a big difference sharper from edge to edge. I would recommend this lens to any one that uses Canon. Great quality glass and love the new build of the lens. Check out my images from Yosemite.

One of my favorites
This is a great lens. I previously had a 3rd party 14mm for wide angle use that I rarely used because of poor picture quality. First day using this, photos were colorful and sharp corner to corner.

Great Upgrade from Version 2 of this Lens!
I upgraded from the Version 2 of this lens. I do real estate imaging. Focus is more precise on this lens and there are less sun flares and ghosting. There is a bit of vignetting at low f-stop, but easily fixed in PS or Premiere. So far this lens has been an excellent upgrade!

Lens Received with scratch
Received the lens with a big scratch on the front. Which is quite strange since the lens shipped with lens cover on and inside lens bag. No possible way it was damaged in transit. Contacted customer service which sent an RA but it was ground, not even 2 day air. Also, was a bit surprised they didn't offer to send a replacement first which means I have no lens to shoot with. They have to first receive this lens back (via ground shipping then send replacement. Will update when I finally get good lens back.

Love!
Awesome! Only wish I hadn’t tried to go cheap initially; I originally bought the 17-40mm f/4 L. I was unhappy with its lack of sharpness as compared to my 70-200mm f/2.8.

Great all-around lens
This lens is finishing off my Holy Trinity of Canon 2.8 lenses and is my new go to over the 24-70. As a primarily landscape photographer it is a bit heavy compared to the f/4 but the ability to shoot Astro with the same lens is worth the weight. I also shoot concerts and sports and other indoor events where the wide open aperture will come in handy! The starburst this lens creates while stopped down is incredibly beautiful as well!

A better way to see the world.
I purchased a Canon EF-S 10-18mm wide angle lens from Woodward Camera in Birmingham, MI, got it outside, removed it from the box and mounted it "Delores", ( a new Canon Rebel T3 my mother Delores gave me), and took a picture of their sign from the parking lot and then took a picture using a EF-S standard 18-55mm. The 10-18mm wide angle lens showed me what I had been missing all of these years. My cousin was so impressed that that he purchased a refurbished Canon EF-S 10-22mm for his Rebel T8(i). But that was well after I purchased another Canon wide angle lens. Yes, I wanted more. So, without any more knowledge than reading about it (really, that is how I purchase all of my lenses) I went into Woodward Camera and purchased the Canon lens featured here for my Canon 6D and 5D Mark IV. I can say, it was well worth the purchase. For street scape and landscape photography, wide angle lens are a must or need to have!
