The Canon EF USM Telephoto Zoom Lens delivers outstanding performance and optics to help master high-level creative imaging. The lens' constant f/2.8 maximum aperture enables fast shutter speeds and beautiful background blurs across its zoom range. To further enhance clarity, it adds Canon's Air Sphere Coating (ASC), which when combined with Super Spectra Coatings, significantly reduces lens flare and ghosting. A superlative lens remastered for improved performance even in diverse light, this telephoto zoom lens is an ideal choice to create stunning images. The lens' bright image enhances AF performance, sending more light to more areas of the AF sensor to facilitate a faster, more accurate focus. It has a specially designed fluorine coating on its front and rear surfaces. This fluorine coating helps prevent dust, water, oil and other surface residue like fingerprints from sticking to the lens, which facilitates quick and easy wiping, without the use of solvents.

I can say that the only negative that I have was the price. Buy once cry once I say, sometimes you get what you pay for.

From having a beautiful portrait with a shallow depth of field to getting use of a full 200mm telephoto reach. Coupled with the 2x extender it can really do amazing things. I think the biggest thing that shocked me was how incredible this lens is in low light. Shooting with a Canon 1DX MKIII.

Seriously, this thing focuses quickly and I have not ran across any distortion, let alone the operator's, regardless of what my composition, er lack of sometimes, is. It shoots sharp, fast, focused.

Including instructions on what to use when would be extremely helpful. I was attempting to photograph rodeo contestants. I struggled to lock on to the subject and remain while the contestant and animal he/she was riding keep that focus.

The ability to shoot at f2.8 helps so much with shooting faster subjects. The lens was delivered super fast which was really nice and all the packaging was fine. Overall, I am very happy I bought this lens. This lens is great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favorite L series lenses One awesome piece of glass. The lens emanates quality from the fit and finish to it's weight. The lens I received was in "new" condition and was only missing the original Canon box. Focus is fast and crystal clear on my 5DIV and EOSR. If you can lug it around, you will be pleased with the excellent photos it takes. Image stabilization is very good but didn't seem as good as my newer lenses. It is very sharp but not as sharp as my 85mm 1.4 prime. Great purchase, if you buy it right, you will have no regrets and bigger biceps from carrying it around.

Still heavy. On the plus side the auto focus does seem to be quieter when using it with an on camera mic for video.

The performance has been nothing short of spectacular. You have to really pay attention since the subjects are constantly moving but the results speak for themselves. Great essential lens in my opinion.

The focus is very quick, even in low light settings. The pictures are amazingly sharp. Makes perfect portrait shoots as faces come out tack sharp and the background has the perfect bokeh.

In outdoor light it seems to work fine, but it is very disappointing indoors. I've probably thrown away half the shots I've taken with it. Autofocus is very slow and erratic. Not you what you expect for the price.

I don't care it has the same optic line up same as Mark II, as long as it can produce excellent images, why should I care about same optic line up as said by some reviews ?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Lens I really pretty happy with the lens, I had one the same for about 12 years then the zoom went out, everything got grainy. So far the only problem I been having is it seems to blur out some times. Maybe its just me, lol Hope this one last as long as my first one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent lens I've owned this 70 200 2.8 III for several years and am pleased with how it performed on my older Canon R and now my R5 that I've owned for about 18 months. This lens does an excellent job for event and fairly close wildlife photos. It also performs well with my 1.4X and 2X tele converters. The lens is sharp, focuses fast and accurately and has lower flare than expected. As others have noted, this lens is all metal and relatively heavy. To me the extra weight is worth the superior build quality. Also the lens does not pump and accordingly does not suck in dust.
