Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great zoom! Fantastic lens. Even though it's a "budget" zoom (i.e. plastic mount it's still a Canon and the image quality, focusing precision, speed and smoothness of the zoom are excellent. Truly an amazing bargain for a super wide zoom of this quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well I may be the only one I bought this lens about 2 months ago and was happy with it. Now I find the manual focus does not work. I am able to survive on AF but sometimes I like to do manual focusing to check my eye and I really hate the way AF interferes with flash. I don't really do it all the time but when I want it I want it. So I don't really know if anyone else has this problem But I was angry enough to come back and write a review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens I bought this lens about 10 months ago and so far the image and build quality has been excellent, although the lens has noticeable distortion and chromatic aberration towards the edges the images came out great. The lens is not the greatest in low light but that is to be expected from a wide-angle lens in this price range

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent lens for the money For the money, it's not a terrible lens. The build quality isn't up to par but I think Canon cut a lot of things out to make it more affordable for the hobbyist. It takes a pretty decent picture given that it's one of their cheapest lenses. THE PROS: It's a light, compact, simple to use ultra wide angle lens. It will add very little weight to your kit. It has a nice wide angle for getting some impressive scenery in it with the image staying crisp to the edge and minimal distortion for being a 10mm lens. Edges of objects have very little bend. I like that they THE CONS: As expected for the price, its build quality is much lower than other lenses sold by Canon (plastic mount ring, plastic barrel, screen printed logo, etc.) but as I mentioned above, this allows Canon to sell it for a reasonable price so that hobbyists and enthusiasts can dabble in ultra wide angle photography without breaking the bank so I've made my peace with it. As long as you take care of it, it should last well past its worth. Moving on, the maximum f/4.5 aperture doesn't allow very good low light photography unless it's on a tripod or crank up your ISO which adds noise but seeing as this is primarily used for landscape photography where it's generally brightly lit, it doesn't bother me too much. OVERALL: As I've stated a few times, for the price, it's a decent lens. Not the best but not the worst. It's a starter ultra wide angle lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp, slow lens. Great value for $ I bought this a couple of weeks ago. I shoot with apertures between f/8-11 for all focal lengths. Havent had to use it on tripod yet. The image stabilization works great. It is acceptably sharp. The depth of field is fantastic. Very fast and very quiet autofocus. I wish I had bought this lens before buying the other lenses. I recommend this lens for landscape photographers using apsc cameras.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must for landscape Got this to compliment my new T6s system. Lens is awesomely sharp and focus is instant and silent as are the other STM lens in the canon line, Sharp images and very low distortion. A must for outdoor shooting, great for indoor real-estate shooting and architecture. It was a "must have" for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy With The STM Lenses For The Price I have had a number of USM lenses, but am liking the STM lenses even more. They're lighter, smoother, seem to focus faster and just seem better to me all around. I wish the 18-135 went a little longer, but it's still a great walkaround lens, so I've bought one of them for each of my cameras (3x 80d and 1x 60d, plus some 30d's and 20d's. For the lens being refurbished, it sure was in excellent condition, too, with barely a mark on it. (I also bought a couple refurbished 80d camera bodies and they were in excellent shape, too, though one was in much better shape than the other.) I highly recommend Canon products across the board, including its refurbished lenses and cameras.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Front focusing I am a Canon fan for more than twenty-five years. Yes, I like this lens, but unfortunately, it front focus, my Canon 40D does not have the auto-focus micro adjustment function, the landscape photo at infinity is always blurred, I am not happy. If you can help me to solve this problem, I will be 100% satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this lens I've had this lens on my Canon Rebel since it was first available. I love this lens. It's light weight, very sharp and affordable. Takes wonderful photos. Perfect for a crop sensor Canon. I've not used the 10-22 which I understand is more robustly constructed, but would find it hard to believe it is any sharper. As I get older the weight is a concern and this lens is great. I have shown photos taken with this lens to professional photographers and they are all very impressed with the detail and color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from null The E F-S 10-18 mm f/4.5-5.6 IS S.T.M lens are the best by far for an S.T.M Ultra Wide Angle Lens. When i first shot with it i was amazed an in such shock by the performance and quickness. It was very sharp and quiet, the weight made it even more comfortable to do hand held shots and angles for a longer amount of time. The lens is plastic and as well as the back mount, that's the only thing i'm that's not 5 Star about this lens.

Mounted on a Canon 7D this lens performs well especially with Image Stabilization. Photos were sharp and focus is fast. Great Price with IS for this lens....Compared to others in Ultra Wide Angle Range. Overall performance gets the grade A and this Lens for this range is a Great Choice....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for everyday shooting, minor complaints I love this lens, I’ve been having fun doing my every day shooting with it as well as some night photography and getting some special effect angles. My only complaint is that it is not absolutely crisp. Some edges and fine details I have to spend time in during editing and making sure everything is post worthy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value, sharp lens I recently bought this lens not knowing what to expect. It's my 1st wide angle lens and I got it to use with my 60D. I was pleasantly surprised with the IQ from such an inexpensive lens. Pics were sharp, colors crisp, and the auto focus worked well. It complimemts my EF 24-105mm L very well on the wide end. It's very small and light. I got the hood for it cause with this lens I feel it's a must, helps some with flare. The only con with this lens (for me, is barrel distortion at 10mm, and 12mm....it gets better at 14mm. Barrel distortion was well controlled at 16 to 18mm, which is where I will use this lens most times. I have Canon DPP and read it can correct for the distorion's with this lens so will have to see if it will. If it corrects the barrel and other distorions with this lens, I'll give it 5 stars. It's the only reason I gave it 4 stars here. I think this is a Canon best buy and great value, bar none....in a wide angle lens. Thumbs up Canon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2nd generation highly satified Canon customer. Canon has always had excellent quality products. My father was a photographer his entire life. He owned Canon equipment, was highly satisfied with Canon's quality and recommended Canon equipment to his friends and to me as well. I have already purchased other items from Canon besides the camera equipment I own. I love their quality, features and their excellent service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice & Wide Lens This is my first wide angle lens and I can not be happier. I use this lens on a 60D and a 70D Mark 2, but even with the crop factor it's still pretty wide. I am very happy with the image quality. Now to photograph a whole new world.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally an affordable wide angle for APSC I have now had this lens for over a year now. I use it a lot for my Architecture work as I am in tight spaces but need to show the entire space. I use a 7D. Also I use it extensively for shots of our beautiful English 130 year old weeping beech and same age Ginkos. Many shots of our home decorated for Christmas (Christmas House, Williamsport, PA. I love the light weight when hiking and the image quality is right up there with my L lenses. It is not sealed or rugged built like the L but it is well built and if not abused works beautifully. Get the separately sold hood as it is just what you should do with all your lenses. Incredible images can be captured with this beautiful lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fast, sharp, light, silent focus Amazing value in a super handy lens - works great for stills or video. The image stabilizer along with the in-camera stabilizer makes a gimbal unnecessary in select situations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens Great lens for my type of photography....landscape. Not fast but I use on a tripod at f/8-f/11 so it doesn't matter. At those apertures it is very sharp. There is typical wide angel distortion and vignetting but is easily corrected in post. Very happy with this lens especially at refurb prices

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent purchase Lens is sharp throughout the zoom range even wide open. Vignetting is minimal in the corners wide open. Highly recommend this lens for landscape photography.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Lens I had been thinking about a super wide angle lens for awhile and had kicked around the idea of getting the 10-22mm lens for my 60D, but I wasn't sure if I'd use it enough to justify the price. Then Canon came out with this new 10-18mm STM IS lens, and at this price range I knew I had to have it. Went out shooting today and boy do I like it so far! The AF seems very quick, and all of my pictures seemed quite sharp. I was pretty much shooting from AV 4.5 to 8 today. The Image Stabilization is really nice for indoor shots where you need a slower shutter speed to get enough light. I did not have a problem with camera shake / blur in my indoor shots today at all. Outdoors in the sun, I could shoot at a much faster shutter speed, so I'm not sure if the IS made a difference or not, but I can say that all of my shots outdoors were sharp as well. I had heard a few people mention some vignetting in corners at 10mm with this lens and thought I was getting some as well, but then realized that even with an extremely shallow and wide lens hood on, it was just the hood making the corners dark - doh! I took the hood off and voila, no more dark corners! I did not notice any vignetting in corners at all without a lens hood, and this lens is so wide that I would not recommend using a lens hood with it or you may learn the hard way, like I did. You can get some really cool pictures of things focusing on objects or people in the foreground, and having the super wide background. It gives a perspective that I can't get with my other lenses, and I'm really glad I added this one to my collection - love it so far! I rated this lens all 5's except for a 4 on build quality. Now don't get me wrong, this lens feels very tight and solid to me and it's light, but not at all cheap feeling. The only reason I gave it a 4 on build is that it has a plastic lens mount, so I didn't feel I could rate that part quite as high as I would one of my metal mount lenses like my 85mm f1.8 or my 18-135mm. However, my 50mm and 55-250mm lenses also have plastic lens mounts and I've never had any problem whatsoever with them and they both get a lot of use. I'm fine with the plastic lens mount, and it's well worth it to me because it means Canon was able to put this lens right in the price range I wanted - perfect! For me personally, I'd rather have the IS and STM on this lens with a plastic mount, than give those up for a metal mount and a higher price, but that's just my personal preference. Others may feel differently, which is obviously why Canon makes such a wide variety of lenses, and kudos to them for doing so! If you have a crop sensor DSLR and are thinking about a super wide angle lens, I highly recommend this one. I was positively giddy looking at the pictures I took today with this lens. Really pleased to have this new tool in my camera bag! Great job Canon on putting this high quality lens at such a great price point. Worth every penny and I'm so glad I got it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unexpected surprise in quality Read many reviews about this lens -- all were on the favorable side. Missed the big sale at Christmas, but took advantage of the one in February 2017. On my trip to northern California, I used this lens almost exclusively. The pictures were sharp, clear and correctable in Canon DPP without issue. Amazed at how close I can get to the subject with ample space around the subject while framing. My lens looked new in-the-box upon delivery. Don't hesitate if you are looking for a wide angle zoom that just performs! The reviews are true.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick Just received my EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM this past week. Focus is quick as in nearly anticipation mode and pretty much silent. Pictures are sharp and colors are real. I must confess: I'm no professional and don't know all that is to be known about photography - terminology is a bit confusing yet. I just like good clean sharp pictures. I selected this lens from a lot of thought and consideration; then decided this lens would fit my desires for now. I am giving this lens a 4-star rating since I have only had it a week AND I will need a lot more time to experiment with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Beginners Portfolio I recently bought this lens for vlogging and for better capturing some indoor shots, so that the house/building is represented more realistically by using a super wide lens that doesn't give me that fisheye lens look I don't need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pros plus Cons but overall a winner! I was excited to see that Canon made an affordable, wide angle lens for crop sensor cameras. I have the 7D2 and was considering a full frame body for wide angle shots and then Canon released this lens. Optically it’s fantastic. Focus speed is quick and spot on. However, this lens suffers from one HUGE drawback. It lacks a focus and distance scale. Ugh! I do a lot of nighttime shots so not having one is like shooting with one arm tied behind your back. If you do not have something clear in the distance to achieve infinite focus on, you’re out of luck. I can’t imagine why Canon left this feature out on this lens. I would have GLADLY paid more for this feature. Manual focus in the dark is impossible if you’re looking for infinite focus. This is the reason why I gave it 3 stars. A focus/distance scale should be mandatory on all lenses. Sorry Canon. If you can deal with this then it deserves a place in your camera bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You don't know what you're missing! I bought a Canon 7D Mark II and a video I watched recommended this 10 - 22mm ef-s lens as one of the must have lens as it provides a unique perspective at a very inexpensive price. Ok. Got it, put it on and looked through the viewfinder. Rotated it to 10mm and the wholle room appeared in the viewfinder! Never seen that before as the other lenses start at 18mm and those last 10 mm made an amazing difference. I went outside and a similar experience ensued. Very impressed with the experience for the price. One fellow on youtube even has a video showing the removal of the plastic ring part that prevents tis from attaching to an EF mount. I'd love to see what this does on my 6D!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, affordable ultra-wide I've only had this lens for two weeks, but it's already a favorite. I do video and stills for organizations, businesses and individuals who can benefit from professional photography but can't afford the typical invoice, so I have to watch my costs. This lens, though certainly not as durable as an L series lens, rivals the famed 16-35mm L glass in sharpness and general optical performance. If you are careful with your gear, want uncompromising optical performance, shoot on APS-C sensor Canon cameras and CAN compromise a bit on maximum aperture, this lens may be for you. The STM focus motor is very quiet – almost silent – and greatly enhances video work with the constant focus ability on cameras like the 70D and EOS-M.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is a great wide angle lens. For the price, it is a great wide angle lens. I even kind of like the distortion at 10mm. : The only qualm I have with it is the smaller max aperture. I recently went to Luray Caverns, and took this lens and my 18-55mm. I ended up only using this lens. If the aperture were bigger, I wouldn't have had to bump my ISO up to 3200. But it is great to hand hold, and works pretty well in lower light otherwise. It is great for landscapes, or when you need to be closer to the subject. With this lens and my 50mm, I no longer use my 18-55mm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight So far, so good. I haven't used it a lot yet. Will be able to make a better judgement after a trip to Italy this fall. I specifically bought it for the trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the wide angle lens I needed. I needed a wide angle lens that wasn't fisheyed for some realestate shoots with my 80D and this lens is the answer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great, inexpensive wide angle lens At wide angle (10mm the lens is very sharp in the center at f/4.5 - f/8 but the corner/edge is not that impressive. The result at 18mm f/5.6 is less sharper than that at 10mm, and even worse than my Canon 18-135mm IS at the same focal length/aperture. For close objects, I use Camera's center AF to get the best results. Auto focus is silent and almost instant. I can also mount it to an Olympus E-PL3 via an adapter, and get decent auto focus and quality photos. Overall the lens proves to be quite useful since I use wide angle for most of the time. Considering its performance, sharpness, & build quality vs price, I give it a 5 stars, and it's definitely a great buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wide-angle STM I was happy to see Canon release a wide-angle EF-s STM lens. I purchased it for shooting wide-angle video. The lens focuses very fast and quiet, has very good color, contrast, and is fairly sharp for wide-angle. The only down-side is the lens has a plastic lens mount. I don't think this will be too much of an issue, due to limited use, but I would have paid an extra $50 for a tad better build quality. So far, the lens is performing as expected and has very good image quality. I'm happy to have it in my lens bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp and light weight for landscape photos. I bought this lens because of the quality photos produced by it. This is one of the least expensive lenses in my collection. This lens produces the best landscape photos, with the sharpest, and best field of view of any lens I own. This is a very light weight, and small lens that I can always depend on for great shots.
