Rated 5 out of 5 by from No More Fussycutting! Hobby cardmaker here. I spent time trying to determine which of the many similar machines would best fit my needs; cutting images from cardstock. Fellow cardmakers had raved about this machine. I watched many and made comparisons to similar machines. I gifted it to myself for Christmas. One of the major complaints people made was that the mats needed to be constantly replaced. When I ordered the machine I purchased it as a bundle with 6 mats and 6 blades. I am very glad that I did this as I think I have avoided a huge amount of frustration regarding the mats. As I mentioned, I watched many videos that are available, I especially like The Papered Chef, and was able to follow the setup and begin putting my machine to use quickly. Without the help of videos my experience would have been different and frustration as the instructions provided were not clear to me. Luckily my machine has worked as expected and I have been very pleased with the fact that I can easily cut stamped images from cardstock and DSP; this has upped my card making enjoyment as not all stamp sets have coordinating dies. There is a huge learning curve to use the machine but available videos make it easier. I would purchase it again and recommend to others

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A love hate relationship I love my Brother Scan n Cut, but I do not love the mats. They don’t last very long and they are EXTREMELY expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine - worth every penny! Fantastic machine for scanning images and cutting them out. This works great for stamped images once you learn to add pencil lines to close the lines around the edge of the image so it will cut it out as one item. Sometimes I drew a line all the way around it to cut out a shadow. Be aware the mat is NOT very sticky even when they are new. I use painter's tape to keep my paper down. I struggled finding instructional videos, but I have had good luck getting responses from support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Machine, Low-Quality & Expensive Mats Quality, very capable machine. Unfortunately, the mats are both expensive and poorly made, losing their tackiness far sooner than anticipated. For this reason, I do not recommend this machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well, BUT... The machine works fine, but getting images into a format that it can use is a little convoluted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epic FAIL I have purchased 2 scan n cut machines and they have both failed, one within 2 months and the first within a year. It doesn’t load the mat correctly, it goes in crooked. New mat, old mat, it doesn’t matter. When it cuts it shifts the mat, ruining a lot of expensive paper. I’m about to throw the machine out the window. Brother knows about these issues and doesn’t care. I will never buy another brother machine nor will I ever recommend one to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Missing Piece I love my Scan N Cut!!! It is very easy to use but there is a learning curve. I embroider using my embroidery/sewing machine. My projects come out perfectly and beautifully. Scan N Cut has opened up a whole new hobby for me. It is so much fun!!! It has given me the confidence to step outside my comfort zone and try something new. I feel like it was the "missing piece" I needed to take my machine embroidery skills to a new level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Workhorse A must have for all makers. This machine is life saver. Only negative is not the machine but Brothers cutting mats. Adhesive wears out too easily and fabric doesn’t stick thus resulting to bad cuts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scanncut SDX 125 EGY I love this machine, but really, shouldn't a machine advertised as a quilting tool that comes with quilting templates come with a fabric-cutting mat?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Downside…the mats First, I love the machine, but the 3 stars is based on the overall system which includes the mats that you use. They don’t last long, they are not self healing, and very difficult to find replacements and they are expensive. You can only use the mats that are for this particular machine, otherwise it won’t load. I use it primarily for direct cutting of embellishments for journals. The amount of time saved when fussy cutting is substantial. However, the machine reads solid lines, so if your graphic has no distinct border or outline it will cut into the graphic.
