Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT MACHINE! I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. This is an excellent Brother product. My grandmother and I do lots of embroidery and scan and cut projects. She is in her 80s and found this machine to be very user friendly. Her favorite feature is that it's quieter than other machines. It's very versatile and allows you to be creative with products and projects. We cut on fabric and vinyl and the blade does great. This machine can help you with lots of fun projects like cards, making vinyl decals for water bottles, shirts and it's especially good for quilting. This machine is so easy to learn for all ages from young to old!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from There's so much you can do! I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I've been playing around with the machine and free computer software almost every day for the last two weeks, and I'm so addicted! There are so many things you can do with this machine- from cutting vinyl for stencils, monograms or shirts (aside from the vinyl, you will also need to purchase transfer paper (sticky transparency) to transfer the cut design to the finished product), to die-cutting paper for cards and crafts, even cutting fabric! (And there are also kits you can buy for embossing, doing rhinestones, etc). The box comes with a quick start guide for making a paper "favor" box and a sheet of specialty paper. I quickly go to making the craft to see how the machine works. It was extremely easy to follow the directions, select the pre-installed templates (it comes with tons) and set the machine to make to draw and cut the craft (see pic). The machine is not noisy, and it appears to be well built. The display screen is touch and also comes with a touch pen tool. The screen size is a nice size. While you can design right on the display screen, I do prefer to use the computer because it's bigger and I don't have to squint. With the free software, you can send files to your machine in multiple ways - file transfer through the internet or via USB drive (not included, but they are so cheap now). My one gripe is that the full instruction booklet is only available for download on the Brother website. It took me a few minutes to figure that out; I kept going through all the booklets from the box knowing that I was missing "something." Personally, I prefer a paper instruction booklet to mark pages and make notes, but I understand the whole paper-consumption issue with printing such a large booklet for all of their products. I would, however, have liked an insert that pointed me to the exact website where I could download said booklet. The software that is free for download (Canvas Workshop) is on the more intermediate/advanced side. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and joined some Facebook groups to learn more about how to better use both the software and the ScanNCut machine. There are also a lot of websites that offer digital designs to download for free. All in all, this is a robust machine that can do a ton of things. It can be very intimidating, but just start small and expanded from there. And I'm having so much fun doing it, myself!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So many patterns! When I first got this I thought I would never figure this thing out, but oh my goodness it practically does everything itself! You can use it with internet or without. You can use ut on your favorite hobby, or I could see someone with a craft type business really using this a lot! For quilting, my next hobby, it will be perfect! It has patterns on it specifically for quilting. Other patterns? Oh yes, over 600 patterns plus you can even draw it up, and use your own! It reads the thickness it needs to cut, no measuring involved on your end. It cuts everything I tried easily. Leather, paper, foam, felt. It has a little drawer to keep all your tools in so they are handy. It is a dream come true. I love it!

I wish it came with a book of sample projects and more card stock, but it did come w a few codes that you can use for projects. I'm excited to make some stickers once I get more of the hang of it.

It can do so many things with just the touch of a button or a simple scan. The best part is that I don't have to have a computer to hook up to it. I don't even need a WIFI connection ! It will cut just about anything from paper to fabric or even foam. I have been able to do so many projects and can't wait to do more. I am not a very technical person. However this machine couldn't be any easier to use.

It comes with 682 patterns to use if you can't think of you on. You don’t need to be online to use it, or to create images. It draws beautiful images. My biggest con was it didn't come with a detailed manual I had to download it.

Love to be the things you can make with it. You can makes so many different things. You can buy other parts so you can make wall borders. This is a amazing gift for any crafter. When they say ready to use right out of the box. It literally can and was used within a few minutes after opening it. It comes with all the tools and equipment you need to get started. While you can use a computer and be connected to the internet it isn’t necessary to be able to use it. As a matter of fact in the past few weeks of using it, I’ve only connected it to my laptop once. It has so many patterns already installed that can be used for tons of crafting projects. I will say my ultimate favorite thing about the scanNcut is it sure has slashed my fabric cutting time in half if not more. Now I can just scan sewing patterns and have the machine cut the fabric in just a couple minutes. I can cut the same pattern multiple times to make a lot of the same project. Within just the first week of using it I used it for many projects from sewing to bullet journal. I use my ScanNCut to scan my own art, stamp images, magazine pages, and just about anything with an image on it to make unique patterns or just to cut them out to use for scrap-booking or bullet journaling. I’ve used many of the cutting machines on the market and hands down this is the best one. It’s the easiest to set up and use straight-away without the need for a device, programs, or internet. Pros: -Precise cuts and drawing -The touch screen is easy to navigate and use. -It can scan pretty much everything -It’s really quiet -Preinstalled patterns are wonderful -Can cut most crafting materials up to 3mm -You don’t need a computer or be online to operate it -Storage is built in and holds all the accessories minus mats -Comes with extra CanvasWorkspace collections Cons: -It requires a big work space -You can only get addition or replacement accessories online (in my area)

I love that it has a built in scanner to scan my drawings and its touch screen. It has patterns and custom designs and its wireless. It has an auto blade it measures the thickness by a sensor that detects what size to cut.

This machine has so many features you could create your own business just on the things it could do. It can cut paper vinyl and so many other things. It also has a draw feature as well so you can program designs to draw seamlessly. There are also so many different attachments you can buy to go with it if you plan to make things like big vinyl stickers. The possibilities are endless

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Time to be creative The Brother Scanner I got is the Grey Titanium color. It is compact in size which is really great for storage. It does not take up a lot of space. The scanner comes with all of the instructions for making the included project step by step. The instructions are really easy to follow. The machine is very responsive to any action requested to take. In order to draw the design on a project the ink is inserted into the scanner. If cutting is needed the ink needs to be swapped out with the cutter. All of these items can be stored neatly within the front of the machine. The design projects are endless. It is limited by a persons creativity and imagination.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing What a machine itself is absolutely amazing it cuts quickly it cuts clean it registers your image with no problem whatsoever the app is sort of hard to navigate so if I was recommending any improvements to this product it would be to make the app more easy for newbies there was not a whole lot of free projects I seen but maybe I'm just not able to find them where the app is a little hard to navigate but other than that 10 out of 10 the best cutting machine I've ever owned

I have had a number of cutting machines in the past and this can keep up with all of them. I love that I don’t need to change out blades for different materials. It is about to since and adjust on its own. There a a lot of pre programmed cut files , it will scan my image and cut on its own. I’m very excited to get some other materials and see how well it does. So far I’ve only cut vinyl and the machine does 1/2 cut so it doesn’t go through the transfer backing. I’m pleased with this item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like a cricut but by brother! This is a pretty fun machine, similar to a cricut. It's kind of tricky to get the hang of but not impossible. It has a built in scanner to scan your own designs and cut them into stickers, fabric, leather, vinyl etc. You dont have to count blocks when you scan it either! The blade depth is automatic and cuts up to 3mm. It also comes with all kinds of extras and goodies too! I would recommend!

My son has already designed a t-shirt and my daughter is having to much fun designing cups and her laptop. Next she wants to do patches. I love that the Brother ScanNCut was easy to set up, it came with extra designs, it's not loud, and we can easily use our own designs that can be transferred from our laptop using wi-fi or USB to the ScanNCut. It literally has everything you need to have a ball with, and I intend on going hog wild.  I've been wanting a particular stencil for a garden craft I'm working on, but couldn't find it - well, now I'll make it come spring! This baby has 682 patterns with it and I've only gotten through a quarter of them, but they don't stop with just that. One of the coolest things about this machine is that I can draw anything I can imagine and simply scan it in, or upload it via the usb or wireless connection, and, BOOM! I have my own unique pattern! It's so awesome, I am completely smitten with this machine :) Trust me, you want this cutter

I’ll admit that in the beginning, the software and usage, was a little overwhelming. But i was able to get the hang of it and started making stuff in no time. Mostly, I use it to make vinyl stickers for my car or for home items around the house. I love the scanning feature so much! It makes accessing designs, so much easier. I absolutely recommend this machine, if you want quality craft cuts.

I've been wanting some type of die cut machine for my crafts and now that I have this, I can't wait for the next time I use it!! I can't draw to save my life but this comes with enclosed built-in patterns that can be used to make beautiful crafts!! There's many different materials that can be used like paper, fabric, foam etc. With built in storage for your tools and blades & wide flat work space, you'll be having fun in no time making different crafts for you and your loved ones!!

We complete the sample project which with simple instructions we were able to handle. The machine is able to keep its accessories in one place. There is a case to purchase. I am still trying to figure out how to use the extra material that it does cut for other projects but I am sure it will be able to figure it out. I am a little concern over the mat. How many times are you able to use it before having to purchase a new one.

Ive read that u have to use the name brand mat if not it wont work.hopedully this is not true. I have another brand machine and like to use the cheaper brand mats that work good.

It is a quality product. It came with tools to help you "weed" the project off the mat. I read all the instructions that came with it and the tips etc. I went thru the steps they gave you to try a project and it worked great the box turned out well. I then tried some cutouts and drawing even adding 2 of the pictures they give you into one {first pic is the image being drawn and second pic and third pic is a cutout} I got some adhesive vinyl and I made some gaming stickers for my son {fourth pic} The 5th and 6th pictures were gaming characters my son is going to use markers and color in and then cut them out later. It was so much fun. It worked very well and I had no problems with it at all. It comes with a bonus of 3 collections of projects. They are perfect to make. The software is canvas workspace and it is very easy to use. It has over 680 projects for free. We even used our own artwork and that worked well too just had to add the image to software. I cant wait to do more projects this is a wonderful product. I highly recommend this product. I just started and there are so many more things you can do.

I was really surprised at how quick and easy the set up was for this Brother ScanNCut, within 15 minutes I had completed my first project! It is very user friendly with a large touchscreen that you can select quick easy items to practice amd gives excellent results. No blade changing between materials is a big plus as it automatically determines the material thickness and adjust cutting accordingly . I am looking forward to learning how to quilt by cutting fabric. The possibilities are only limited to your imagination!

Better than other brands I have tried. You can do so much with it. It is very easy to use. Right out the box I was crafting in minutes. This machine has so many awesome features. The auto blade sensor technology is very convenient, it automatically detects thickness of the material you are cutting. The scan feature is the coolest. You can scan any of your own hand drawn work! The touchscreen display makes quick edits easy. The free design software is easy to use and includes tons of free designs/projects. You can connect to your computer or your phone or tablet or just use it by itself. It comes with the main accessories you will need and the machine has a handy storage compartment for storing them. I am so amazed at all this machine can do. The cuts are perfect and fast. The machine is pretty quiet when in use. I can create almost anything with it. I can cut fabric, paper, card stock, vinyl, leather, foam. The creative possibilities with this are endless and easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No More Fussycutting! Hobby cardmaker here. I spent time trying to determine which of the many similar machines would best fit my needs; cutting images from cardstock. Fellow cardmakers had raved about this machine. I watched many and made comparisons to similar machines. I gifted it to myself for Christmas. One of the major complaints people made was that the mats needed to be constantly replaced. When I ordered the machine I purchased it as a bundle with 6 mats and 6 blades. I am very glad that I did this as I think I have avoided a huge amount of frustration regarding the mats. As I mentioned, I watched many videos that are available, I especially like The Papered Chef, and was able to follow the setup and begin putting my machine to use quickly. Without the help of videos my experience would have been different and frustration as the instructions provided were not clear to me. Luckily my machine has worked as expected and I have been very pleased with the fact that I can easily cut stamped images from cardstock and DSP; this has upped my card making enjoyment as not all stamp sets have coordinating dies. There is a huge learning curve to use the machine but available videos make it easier. I would purchase it again and recommend to others
