There are other features to this that I have not yet tried that I'm sure will be just as easy. Nice size and I like that I have the option of using batteries or an ac adapter. Label cartridges are easy to load too. I HIGHLY recommend this Label Maker!

So, I figured it had its day. Of course right after I received the new one, the old one started working again! I have the case for it, too. The new one does not fit the old case. I love to organize and am usually looking to organize files or identify containers of stored items. The label maker is one of my favorite household tools.

Was able to label A LOT of confusing light switches in a large home in a short amount of time - all while using the sample label cartridge that came with the machine. Looking forward to trying out more complicated features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best Excellent I’ve had mines for over a year not problems. I keep mines in the case which protects it from any drops scratches. I use to use batteries but, I realize it’s not worth it. Even with the name brand batteries so I decided to purchase the cord to plug my P-Touch. This was the BEST thing I did after the P-Touch the only con is the cord is expensive. In the end worth it no more batteries usage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for both organizing and decorating! This little printer is AWESOME! I have been wanting a label maker for ages and I'm so happy to have been gifted this one. It has so many cute symbols, borders, and fonts that no matter what the project is, it will always look great! The only thing that I'm not super impressed with is that it seems to waste a good amount of tape with every print... the margin is too wide and wastes a bunch of tape. Even if you set a narrow margin (to waste less tape there is still about 0.5" of tape that prints and just has to be cut off. I hate wasting material, especially since the tapes aren't necessarily cheap for this printer. Other than the inevitable waste, I LOVE this printer and will never stop using it :)

The problem I've had is that it takes many batteries and usually prints half a label before the batteries are drained and need to be replaced. I waste the print tape for half a label and need to use 8 new batteries and usually get half a label out. The labels are not long names, so I may have a defective product. So far, it has caused more waste than labels.

The labels come out with almost an inch of space before the printing(wasteful! Changing fonts/size is tedious, having to go into menus. Overall, not very intuitive. I have to keep a copy of the manual on my computer screen(the included one is to small to read) to make this thing do anything beyond basic preset label sizes. May be the more expensive ones work better.

It is not hard to send a new one brother! Not my fault the brand new product doesn't work, so why should I need to go buy a new one? Send me a working one. Absolute disappointment in product. Even have the power cord, turns on for about 7 seconds on average

It exactly meets my needs. It comes with .4 size labels. I like that I can buy various sized labels. The keyboard and user interface is simple, attractive, and easy to learn.

The options are many and seems like everything you'd want to do is covered. I still haven't figured out how to eliminate the large blank sections of tape of either side of the writing, as this wastes a lot of tape, but otherwise I am happy with my gift.

The inherent downside I suppose with so many options but a simple screen is the number of key presses to get to what you want. Maybe in the future they'll add some sort of scroll-wheel to quickly spin/click to the options desired.

I put my name/address etc. on the front of my mailbox at the same time that my neighbor did.....mine is still bright and bold. He used a different label maker and his printing has long faded. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not Your Typical Labeling Machine Not only can you print labels in different font styles, the PT-D210 can add patterns, symbols, frames or pictographs to your label. It has templates that you could use or you could design your own and save it to use again. The size is good and it sits well on a flat surface. You don't have to hold it in your had to operate it. Once you get familar with all the options available, this little machine is really remarkable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Machine but... Got a great price on the little machine or so I thought , but it doesn't come with anything right out of the box. You can't even turn it on until you buy an expensive power supply or purchase 6 batteries. Once you get that, you find you only receive a little sample of the label tape...got to buy more of that. So, once you get past all that the price isn't so great. Then, the instructions are pretty cumbersome and not exactly clear because they seem quite complicated. All that said, it makes great labels when you figure it all out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could use some improvements Overall this was a good value considering all the functions it has but unfortunately I’ve only gotten a chance to print basic labels because the instructions are really lacking. I didn’t realize to print two lines you need to buy a different tape which would make your label huge. It’ll be better if the font got smaller for two lines to fit the regular sized tape. As with other reviewers, I would love to be able to move the margins as to not waste so much tape. I was able to move the margin on one side after some tinkering and am able to save a bit of tape that way. The other comment would be to include the AC adapter or make the batteries rechargeable.

Son had just a bit of a problem and he is good at this, but me, when I had to do it myself, went to the Office Max and asked how to use it, and the salesperson tried, but wasn't sure herself. So, instructions should be made easier. Also there is an awful lot of blank tape on both sides when you are through with making a label. That is waste.

But after you read the first couple instructions, it all becomes easy and it makes it feel like you know what's next. This machine really does an exellent job. All the features are helpful too, like different size letters, designs you can add to your label, and the library that keeps files of previous labels in case you need them again. Great Buy!!!!

It is full of pre-loaded fonts and layouts and can save several of your favorite designs to make them easy-to-retrieve for future use. It s light-weight and the buttons are big and clear. Since the screen is somewhat small, the menus can take some time to navigate, but with practice and as I become familiar with the various menus and options, I'm sure the PT-D210 will be even easier to use.

The fancier features of this one are not worth the wasted tape and the need to have scissors. Please let me know if there is a way to use it that doesn't require scissors and waste tape.

The other draw back is the cost of the tapes, over all if you are going to label a lot of things it’s going to get expensive. Lastly the lack of colors of tapes is limited.

It is very easy to use, and it's fun as we look for things around the house that could really use a label. It has many functions. We are slowly learning all of what this great label maker can do! We tried multiple troubleshooting tactics and ended up doing an exchange for a refurbished product. Not sure if I can trust this one will work but it is so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome little label printer! If you want simple and convenient labels up to 1/2" and you're not printing custom graphics or barcodes, then this is the label maker for you! I've used this model extensively and haven't had a single problem. Labels print consistently, batteries last a long time, and the labels are VERY economical! I've had other models of Brother label makers and I still reach for this one when making simpler labels or when I'm in a rush.

Also, the print preview is not helpful at all - it is not clear and it doesn't indicate that I have my setting correct for what I want so I have wasted several strips getting what I want correctly.

You think in this day and time a manufacture of a product like this would have an online demonration of basic useages/features. I like the final product produced but getting to it is not an easy task. This is not product that is use by my family daliy so when it get used it normally rite now type situation and having to spend time rereading a manual to perform basic task is a paine.

Easy to cut off your label and so many different ways to use the labels. There are different templates available so that you can decorate your labels. It's fantastic!

It also wastes a large amount of tape at the front of each label and at the price, I think that is ridiculous unless you enjoy buying a lot of expensive tape. I think this will be just a dust collector sitting on the shelf.

The product operates ok and prints labels but adjusting margins and tape length is 10x more complex than older models. Perhaps it is time to consider the user.

I use it for labeling folders in my file cabinet, making labels to go on our luggage for our upcoming cruise, labeling things around the house, etc. The ONLY thing I do not like is the fact that I can not control the beginning and ending margins. The margins are so large that it wastes too much of the label. I wind up cutting off and throwing away more than I use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unreadable screen Despite getting two replacements (one from Staples and one from Brothers) they all had the same problem with a very low contrast screen. Adjusting from -2 to + 2 with the contrast control had no affect. New batteries used and separate ac adaptor all with same problem. Design or manufacturing defect? I haven't tried all the features since it is difficult to read the screen.

This unit comes with incomplete instructions and is not intuitive at all. For example, I can't find out how to use a single centered line, as opposed to two. Medium font was very small; you waste a lot of tape, just working out size.

Being able to neatly label things with many options for fonts, symbols etc has added some artistic joy to what has been an arduous process. Easy to use, so many options.....and so very helpful. If neat and organized is your thing...give this a try, you will really like it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Hate It! I went from a handheld to this one because I needed to save time and felt a full keyboard would upgrade me. This machine not only wastes more of my time because I have to pick up the scissors after each label prints to trim the blank 1" of lead tape, but with this tape being so darn expensive, it adds up to a HUGE waste of money as well. The reason given for this lead tape is the design of the machine.... then recall it! Returning today!

I did have a little trouble following the instructions, so called Brother support and the representative was so very helpful. He walked me thru exactly what I was trying to achieve and now my labels look great! I love this printer!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is a pretty good machine for the price It is a pretty good labeling machine for the price. It has a quite a few features, the only downside is the vertical printing. It won't do the vertical printing for things like network cabling. It will do vertical print but for us network guys it not the kind of vertical printing that we like. I would still recommend it for everything else.

I am a bit dismayed in that the screen is very light and only shows half the words. When using the menu, you have to do a lot of guessing on what the top part of the function is. I would definitely recommend Brother labeler but not this model. I hate returning things but I am tempted. Brother does have good products, but choose a different one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Needs a little improvement The machine has an easy to use keypad. Wish there was a tutorial to view that explains the functions better. I am a visual person. The display needs to be brighter or something to make it easier to read. Is there a way to not waste so much tape? I have changed the margins but you still have an inch waste on both ends of the label. I would still recommend the machine. Just would like to see these improvements.

It is so much easier to make labels when you can type the name using the label keyboard. This label maker also prints 2 lines on labels and you can use many different types of labels made by Brother for your needs. It also has an adapter which saves on using batteries. However my older pTouch has a lot more font choices & automatic cut off, both which I miss on this model. It does rotate text and accepts various tape sizes. It's great if you want a small, lightweight label maker.

This Brother - PT-D210 works very well, as long as you have an excess amount of tape and batteries stored away. 1st - When printing, there is an excess of 3/4" in front and back of the lettering, even if your printing a label of 1 character. For me this is a huge waste of tape. I called Brothers and they indicated there is not adjustment for this waste. 2nd - The battery life does not last long at all. I've tried different types of batteries, still they die out super fast. Yes they are new batteries. Instructions are very difficult to follow and understand. Not user friendly. After reading and trying to make head and tales out of things, is when I had to call customer service for help. Just to receive feedback that there isn't any adjustment in the length of wasted tape and no recommendations for the shortage of battery life. But was recommended to purchase another item that plugs into the wall. How convenient is that, especially when you may be carrying this around the house or business. The store I purchase it from would not take it back as it has been to long since the purchase date, now I'm stuck with an item I do not want. I would NOT recommend this to others unless you know about these issues that I have ran into. It works great, but very wasteful, have extra batteries, because it will stop working when you need it most.

But the refills might not seem this way to you but to me they are a little pricey. I got my label maker for less then the price of the refills. Yes I should have checked first. But I love the labels I've made so far and I would recommend this to a friend with the warning about the price of the refills.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Too complicated, wasteful, and frustrating I have a quite old Brother P-Touch label maker. It has been great and still is. Used for years and still do. Thought I'd "upgrade" to this model so I could use laminated tapes, and have more features. Now I'm a tech savvy guy, but I am very disappointed. So loaded with features but very complicated to get settings correct. Only three text sizes. Brightness of display is weak (even on bright mode. Lots and lots of blank wasted tape. Still haven't figured out how to clear previous label with one click, like I always have on the old one. Instead I have to backspace one letter at a time. When I do say "clear" it clears all the settings I labored to get right. When I say print it always asks "How Many"? I am very frustrated by this label maker. Only use it when I MUST have laminate tape.

Not being able to live without one (I label everything I ordered this "modern" one. I must say there was a learning curve - but soon I found it is 1000 times more powerful than the old one. Good font choices, easy to adhere the tapes to all kinds of children's items needed to be identified for school use. (Even cups that are often washed). The only downside- the tape prints a lot of extra "white" on either side of the writing so that seems a little wasteful but I still highly recommend this label machine!

So I bought a new one and the tape cartridge is much easier to replace on the updated version. I love the newer keyboard features as it is "friendlier" to my arthritic hands.

I have owned mine since December 2017 regularly and still have the same batteries in(3/26/18. I believe this label maker is the best machine because of its many features, fonts, color tapes, size's of tapes, ability to accommodate sizes of letters and use of the shift keys for punctuation and spacing and the ability to hold it or place on the table while usage. I use my machine at least three times a week for my crafting and household needs, I've become very organized. Thank you Brother Company for this ingenious printer..

Wanted to number them with large number but all I get are numbers to small to read. Tried to change the font size but the insruction in the manual DO NOT WORK. Tried YouTube. The instructions there are by a young lady that goes way too fast, assumes too much and doesn’t know about a remote mic. Geez. All I want to do is make a font bigger. I’m about ready to call my 7 year old grandson to help me.

I have wasted a lot of labeling tape without successfully producing one correct label. My old version of this labeler was so easy to use. Since it broke I was trying to find a replacement and this isn’t it.

Not always convenient to get instructions by having to access them at the Brother website. Manual should be expanded for more clarity on how to make the labels

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Difficult to read LCD screen LCD screen is not backlit and is difficult to read. There is an adjustment but it gives little or no contrast. My very old Brother label maker is much easier to read. This one's going back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Too complicated to produce standard labels I've been attempting to learning how to produce what I had considered to be just some fairly simple labels I was wanting to use with my current collection of some world and US Mint produced coin collection files and albums. Unfortunately this task hasn't been achieved to date in spite of repeated efforts and various attempts of designs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not work It did not work brand new out of the box with new batteries. Any time I try to print I get an error message saying "battery empty" and I have tried multiple brand new batteries. It will not even turn on with a power plug.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally bought one I knew I needed a labeled but kept putting it off. Until I defrosted something I thought was spaghetti sauce and it was chilli instead. I’m so glad I got this model it’s simple to use and the labels stay on until you peel them off which is easy. Love it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from can't print labels I want to be able to print on wires, but after some back and forth with their tech support, I have to come to the unfortunate conclusion that this printer cannot print labels on wires. The printer prints labels lengthwise across the tape, which is fine for most jobs, but for wires, it needs to print widthwise across the tape and to repeat that multiple times as the tape might wrap over itself as it's secured to the wire. This printer cannot print widthwise at all, making this label maker essentially a paperweight. By the way, when I first engaged the tech support, the first tech who had apparent no knowledge of Brother label makers at all actually made the claim that I needed to use a different tape as if that would some alter how the label maker prints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from decent but wasteful I've been using the D210 now for several months and while it's a decent printer, it seems the settings are designed to waste about 40% of the tape cartridges. I've read the instructions twice and find it very annoying to have to edit the settings every single time I use it. My complaint is that the margins or tabs - I still can't figure which is which - are defaulted to waste an inch of tape before AND after whatever you input is printed. You change the settings to where they're almost acceptable but every time you change the copy the settings once again default to where you waste half of each label when you print it. I get it; you guys want to sell more tape cartridges but it's beyond ridiculous. I almost suggest purchasing a different brand until they either fix this issue or let you know - via the useless instructions - how to set the printer once and have the settings stay that way
