Unable to get ink
Whet good does a MFC J1010DW printer do if you can't get ink for it. Not sure if I want by another Brother product again. I can't give it a good rating if you are unable to get ink to use it.

No LC401 Black Ink Anywhere
I have been searching for black ink cartridges for my less than a year old printer for months! This is inexcusable. I see other ink available, what's the problem? An explanation from the company would be nice. Available ink cartridges would be nicer. I can't think of any acceptable excuse for this. I called customer service at one point. They promised someone would get back to me. Glad I'm not holding my breath.

Sad to say that I cannot find ink anywhere. I just purchased my brother j1010dw 45 days ago. I love brother printers, but find it difficult to accept that I was sold a printer that would only last as long as the initial ink pod.

Wish I would have read the reviews on the ink before purchasing a brother printer my 17 year old cannon printer lasted forever compared to this the ink only lasts a couple of prints I get less than 50 prints per cartridge and I can either drive an hour out to the closest store that carries the ink that will fit my printer or I can order online and wait a week last week I needed to print a documents that were due the next day and installed my new cartridge's but ran out of ink half way through I drove an hour out to buy ink from office depot grabbed the only two boxes left and when I got home I realized I had purchased two multi packs of color ink no black in included and the store was already closed. No wonder the printer was so cheap the ink will bleed you dry!

Love the printer - HATE the ink availability
As with pretty much all the recent reviews - THINK VERY CAREFULLY before purchasing a printer that needs this ink. I bought it for my small business and have searched ALL OVER to find ink. I've gone through Brother customer service and got the "it'll be available soon" spiel. I've gone to every Office Max/Depot in the 2 hr radius of where I live (with a toddler and baby...) to try and find some. I was told by them it was supposed to be coming in on the most recent shipment 04/07/23. None of the stores got that ink in as it was supposed to. They can't even order it for me. This was the biggest purchase I made for my business and I operate on tight margins. I CANNOT go days/weeks/months without ink. So - when the current cartridge I have runs out, it will be purchasing a new printer. And that printer WILL NOT be from this brand because I cannot go indefinite amounts of time with no real estimate on when ink will be back in stock. DO NOT SELL A PRODUCT YOU CANNOT STOCK SUPPLIES FOR.

Black Ink not available
I came here to buy genuine ink. I read the other reviews that said it is out of stock here and everywhere else. I saw that Brother customer service responded by saying to check the "where to buy" option on the product page. As you might imagine, every other suggested retailor on the 'where to buy' list is out of stock too.
A printer without black ink is just a crappy paper storage tray.

What is with the stock situation of LC401 black cartridges? (XL and regular) They are unavailable everywhere. I have two Brother printers but this is so frustrating I don't want to buy another Brother product ever.

Completely Inoperable Printer
The printer is completely useless without an available supply of black ink. This has been a months long issue with no concrete resolution or compensation by Brother. This has disrupted my business and caused significant inconvenience. Therefore, even though the printer is great, the complete inoperability due to an extremely extended lack of ink makes me unable to recommend this printer and the company, Brother, to friends, colleagues, and fellow business partners. Terrible customer service and complaint resolution.

We purchased this printer within the last 6 months at Best Buy and you cannot find black ink anywhere. Completely unavailable from Brother. Either make ink available or give everyone refunds on the printers they can no longer use!!!

Extremely Angry! What...No Black Ink?
Purchased this printer 3 months ago and have been unable to use it because the black ink cartridges are unavailable. Cannot be purchased ANYWHERE!!!! We've been waiting MONTHS! What a joke and total waste of money to have bought this printer. Shame on you Brother for being so irresponsible and miscalculating for the supply of black ink! You should provide FREE black ink cartridges to all your customers that have been inconvenienced with this process. There should definitely be some compensation for this whole fiasco! If I could rate 0 stars, I would!

Don't Buy this Paperweight
Less than a year old and I am thinking about getting a different printer. The last black cartridge lasted 3 DAYS! I just put in the final one I had and now can't find 401 ink anywhere. Even Amazon doesn't have any! Problem is, I am not in an income bracket where this will be easy.

Printer is great - Black ink is nonexistent
I have read all the reviews about the ink as well and the canned response. Go to the "Where to Buy" tab, blah blah. Go to that and inquire and the prices are so jacked up that I could buy a brand new printer and save money! Kind of a joke if you ask me.

Where’s our ink?!?!?!? Grrrrrrr!!!!
This is crap!!! So sick of waiting for them to “restock” The black ink!!! You want to sell a freaking printer make sure you manufacture enough ink for the item!!! Stop telling us the same lie “it’s on the way!” Never again will I purchase a Brother item ever again!! This printer shares the same LC401 in with a couple of their other printers they said…That was stupid!! Get us our ink! Without the black this printer is freaking useless and a complete waste of money!!!!

So Happy I switched to Brother!
Recently switched all office printers from HP to Brother and it was a great decision. HP was constantly having problems and I have not had one since switching to Bother. Great products!

The most expensive paper weight I've ever had
This is absolutely insane. I bought my 1010 printer in late December and quickly used up the black cartridge that came with it. Since then the has been sitting next to my desk--useless. I understand there may be temporary problems in keeping a product in stock, but three months? I've been contacting Brother for much of that time and the response is always the same: It will be in stock in 2-3 weeks. If so, it's the longest three weeks in recorded history. I will NEVER buy another Brother product.

Brother has blundered.
I was disappointed to find that in order to get more ink for my new printer, I had to use a subscription plan that requires me to predict how many pages of printing I needed per month. It is impossible to so predict, so I thought I would just get them on my own, as I have always done. No can do! Without black ink the printer will not work. I urge Brother to ditch this subscription plan and just sell ink, or at least make that option easily available.
Please do not respond to this with a lame form-apology. Just get us some ink!

Super disappointed after reading the reviews now -- I've had my printer for a couple months and the blank ink is now low but after seeing the reviews it seems like this has been an issue for months. How are we supposed to use our printer if we can't get ink? What are you going to do to fix this issue, Brother?

I am so frustrated. This ink is never in stock anywhere. I’ve been looking for the last 6months. I am completely out of ink and have to go to the library to print anything. I just bought my printer in August last year, so how is this possible?? Brand new printer and I can’t even get ink to refill it! I want a refund for my printer but gosh why is everything such a hassle. The probably wouldn’t even give me a refund. I will never buy another Brother printer.

Black Ink availability - Disaster!
I'm not sure I feel any better after reading review after review about the nonexistence of the black ink cartridge. I had been happy with the performance, but it can't work without the black ink! As far as using a off-brand - don't bother. I ordered one 10 days ago, and have received multiple dates of delivery, and now been offered refund if I take down my negative review! I think we are stuck in limbo!

Buyer beware!
Been waiting for the blank ink for months. Almost a year. My printer is completely useless and it isn’t compatible with any other printer ink. This is a complete lie. Don’t waste your money trying. I now have to buy a whole different printer because the one I have is completely useless. The blank ink runs out fast and I did not have enough to last. Very disappointed. Also, for the price of the blank Ink by itself I can buy another printer. I don’t understand why this is so expensive. Buyer beware!

Hardest black ink to fine anywhere
Brought this Brother printer couple months ago since my husband had a Brother, but ink is empty and it now sits at my desk unable to use. Really bad when you sell printers that you know no black is available for anywhere!!! What am I supposed to do buy another printer, well it will not be Brother ever again!!!

I have always preferred Brother printers over HP but if you can't get black ink for it then it is just a dust collector. This is unacceptable that no one can find LC401 Black Standard or High Yield anywhere. Plus a high yield is only 500 copies. The last brother I had gave me 5000 on a high yield and it was smaller than this one. This machine is worthless. I agree with other reviews I would prefer to give 0 stars.

There are NO LC401 cartridges anywhere! How are we supposed to work without a printer. And why aren't you offering us a "wait list" for when you do get product in. Would not recommend Brother for this reason.
