Rated 5 out of 5 by from Money Trap, Beware! This printer allows for 1200 refills and 3000 page refills. It also has a drum unit that is rated for 12,000 prints before it needs to be replaced! What? Not just toner cartridges, but drum unit just to print toner needs to be replaced. What kind of diabolical engineering caper this machine is Batman! Why it's a money trap Boy Wonder! Be Forewarned! The product is constantly getting jammed. I saw this in none of the literature.

I am quite disappointed with the inability of the wireless printing to work with my Macbook Pro and Xfinity broadband, and use it much less than I had hoped because of this failure. Several calls to service have finally said it just isn't a capability of this machine. I am keeping it, but would not have bought it knowing wirelss wouldn't work. We have another Brother that has been great for years.

I wanted to set it up to work with my iPad and instructions weren’t sufficient for me to accomplish this. I got help from your help line. it took awhile, technician seemed as confused as I was and kept putting me on hold to ask other technicians. Eventually she helped me set it up and it has been working perfectly ever since.

However, the instructions and setup procedures were hard to understand and in some cases incomplete. For someone who is not computer literate it could turn out to be a nightmare. In addition, I've yet to figure out how to connect the printer to another WiFi network.

Having had OTHER Brother printers, I took that leap of faith and was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED at the ease of setup and operation of this printer. The ONLY negative is it does not come out of sleep mode quickly when called on to print. BUT reaching over to hit the power button is not enough to make it a con, just an observation.

I only need to print something once in a while, and didn’t want to go through the hassle of cleaning the printer heads every time the way it was with my last air printer. The agent assured me that, because this one is a laser printer, it didn’t matter how long since the last time, it would be fine, and he was right!

The brothers printer was easy to set up and just plugged it into my pc and was up and printing pages in less then 10 minutes when I first opened the box. I really like the option of two sided printing (my old printer was single side only When the time comes to change out ink cartridges I like the option of a low yield cartridge or a high yield cartridge. Print quality is super clear. The printer is compact and looks nice in my work area at home. Can not go wrong with this printer

I had no issues with the wi fi connection. I like that it holds a lot of paper, whereas my other printer only held a few sheets of paper. I wish it was able to copy, but not a big deal. I`ve used it at home, but my plan is to take it to school to use it in my classroom. I`m hoping the ink lasts as long as it is suggested. Overall I am satisfied with its performance for the short time I`ve had it.

Cost is timer replacement was a big factor as well. Found all of these in this product. Easy to set up and after a month and a half, very happy with my choice. Have had a Brother color inkjet printer for about two years and have been very pleased with it's performance.

Lasers in this price category were always missing the Wi-Fi feature until recently. The HL-L2340DW Wi-Fi was easy to set up for both my PCs (Windows 10) and Macs. This model is a pure black and white printing workhorse (no scanner), print quality is excellent, printing is very fast and has a fairly small footprint compared to an older Brother printer I have with a scanner.

If I want to print anything from mone of my devices it simmple and quick. I like the speed of the paper and printer itself. It sits next to its brother ADS2000 and they make a great couple. I know I should have bought an all in one but those usually jam afater awhile and I reallly don't have the space for a big printer. The printer is great and I thank you for having such good products.

They all seemed to be good machines, so I bought this one. It is great! I use duplex printing to save paper sometimes, but with the old printer this was a manual process (slow and sometimes difficult to get right). With the Brother automatic duplex it is really easy. It warms up very quickly and prints fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good -- but not for printing envelopes In general, this is a good printer, but it does not work well for printing envelopes. You have to prepare it by opening the back cover, pulling down two green tabs (which are hard to see -- you have to get behind it), and opening the manual feed cover. Worse, envelopes always print crooked, no matter how carefully I feed them into the slot. But worst of all, the toner smears and flakes off the printing on the envelope. Just a couple wipes with your thumb is all it takes to start the smearing, so by the time the envelope goes through the mail, it will look very unprofessional when the recipient gets it. There is a setting to "Improve Toner Fixing" but it does not help. I have tried different brands of envelopes, but no luck. Beyond that, the printer is a nice small size. It warms up fast (though it turns itself off completely if you don't use it every few hours, so you have to turn it on each day). The cost of the toner makes a laser printer like this a much better choice than an ink printer. Just wish I could use it for envelopes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well i only using tray, not manual tray. The unit works well with the paper tray. But, if you use the manual paper feed, it pulls in crooked 90% of the time. Additionally, It is not easy to cancel a print job, is not reliable at advising remaining ink level, and constantly advises the ink is low even after replacing with a new OEM cartridge.

The first thing I noticed as I unpacked my printer is the design. It is compact and very square. The paper tray can be loaded with 250 sheets of paper and with the drawer shut, the printer is very square and pleasing to the eye. I like the 2 tone grey body with black on top. My previous printer was an HP which did not have the clean lines of this productI thought it would be difficult to set up the printer, but it was surprisingly easy. The instructions were direct and to the point. Brother also offers lifetime support for this product - chat, online, or by phone. The box says that I can print from my smartphone, but I haven`t quite figured out how that works, so I will probably call the free phone support to learn how to utilize that added benefit.The toner cartridge can print up to 3000 pages. I haven`t looked up the cost of the cartridge but I`ve read it is extremely cost efficient. As we all know, the cost of the ink can be a real deal breaker, as printers are relatively inexpensive to purchase. I anticipate a reduction in the cost of ink as compared to my previous HP printer.This printer can print up to 32 pages per minute, which is a real time saver when you are putting together manuals for work, like I do.

I have had to call Brother twice to get back to printing. The second rep must have been new because he was bad at giving instructions. More trouble than it should be.

Never jams, every printout is a keeper. I still haven't used up the starter cartridge. Color is nice, not having it is a disadvantage, but the cost, quality and reliability of this monochrome printer make it the clear choice if money is an issue.

If it was out of any one of the colors the printer would not work until I replaced the hue that was low even though I didn't use them. I obviously don't have that problem with this printer. Usually these types of printers are very expensive and this one carries a very economical price for a good quality monochrome printer that uses toner as opposed to ink.

Still haven't figured out how to move to wireless on the original PC. This is my second one. Had the last one more than 10 years. Print quality is super and the print speed is very good. That was until the printer suddenly lost the ability to connect to our network. (MacOS, IOS, Eero mesh router. I spent hours going through the connection trouble shooting steps, rebooted and reinstalled multiple times. Then I spoke with a Bother tech. Went through the same steps, got the same outcome. Then I repeated the process with a senior tech. Also ran remote diagnostics. No luck. Then I was transferred to someone who might be able to replace my machine under the warranty. Was told it was over a year old and not covered. He also told me that they had been having issues with Eero routers experiencing unstable connections with the printer. (Pay attention here if you have an Eero.) Per Brother I am SOL. I am checking on line for another printer, definitely not Brother, but on a whim I check the Eero documentation. Found a little tweak in the app in a few minutes and, presto, printer connected. I hope the Brother tech support team is writhing in shame over not being able to find in hours of effort a solution a 78 year old user solved in ten minutes with a little creative thought. Remember they told themselves that there were issues specific to Eero. How embarrassing.

The only issue I have is the inconvenient way envelopes are treated. My printer is on a desk against the wall. In order to retrieve the envelope after printing I have to move the desk:printer away from the wall to open the rear panel to get my envelope out. Brother should have come up with a better envelope pathway

The only downside is that the laser printers create a power surge when they start up. The printer is not connected to my battery backup, but when the printer wakes up, the battery backup thinks the power has failed and goes to battery power for a second. With the battery backup, I can live with it.

No Brother bar code or any other id. Copies appeared with a verticle space about 1/2" wide, and uneven print. Brother said the brand x toner and cartridge were to blame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sorely disappointed I bought this printer so I could do two things; reduce the load on my inkjet by printing text-only documents on the laser printer, and having a wireless printer I could use with my iPhone. .Setup was relatively easy and I accomplished both issues...for one day. Every time this printer goes into its "deep sleep" mode, it disconnects from my network and won't reconnect automatically. I have to delete the printer from my laptop and go through the entire setup process again. After experiencing this problem several times, I gave up on WiFi printing and connected a USB cable which I use if I want to print from my laptop. I don't bother trying to print from my desktop or my iPhone.

I think the instructions could have explained the wireless set up a litte better, but it was easy enough to figure out. The toner cartridges don't last as long as I would like, but I can't expect much better for the price. It prints very quickly and is very responsive with my devices and makes printing from my laptop and phone really easy.

I was happily surprised that the unit loaded to my laptop via the CD player and connected immediately upon reboot. I then tried my desktop and again no issue. Lastly I used the internet method to load the laptop without a CD bay. It too booted back on with the printer fully functional.

This printer is super simple to set up and get going. The machine comes with a CD for the software, so if you are an up to date Mac owner and don`t have a disc drive, you`ll need to download the installation software from the Brother website. It would be helpful if the literature said that. But I am not technically savvy and got this printer up and running in about ten minutes. The machine itself is compact enough to fit on a desk and light enough to move around. It prints well and the wireless component is key for lap top users like myself.

I only wish it had a tray where the printed page exits the machine that was a bit shorter so it would be easier to grab the papers. I would have given 5 stars, but a starter cartridge with rather limited capacity came with it. I soon found myself spending another $78 for a full larger capacity cartidge. Sort of like what HP does - low unit price, but they get you with the toner cartridge cost. However, the HP toner is much more expensive, so this is still a good deal in my mind.

However, being a WiFi only printer, you would expect very high performance in that area. This printer was a replacement for an older WiFi Brother printer that I could place anywhere in my home and print to it. I had a devil of a time just setting this one up. I had to be within about 15 feet of my WiFi access point to set it up. Then, when I placed it in the same location as my older unit (only 25 feet from access point), it wouldn't print. I checked the signal reception on my access point and said that it had 33% signal connection with the printer. I had to rotate the printer 90 degrees and the signal jumped up to about 60%. It seems like if it don't get a signal of at least 50%, it won't print. Very poor implementation of WiFi in this printer as I had absolutely no issues in my old WiFi Brother printer. You would think that something with my access point had to change, but I didn't touch it. Just swapped out the printers. BTW... the old printer indicated a jam fault that wouldn't clear. In conclusion, the printing was fine. But if you can't connect to it, it don't matter how good the printing is.

I ran out of ink within the first few days of printing After spending $$$ on the printer, I was not happy about having to replace the ink so soon. With the full toner in, I’ve been printing all semester with no issues. I’ve gone through 2 full packs of paper so far.. ink and printer still holding up well. I love that it can print double sided!

This laser printer has been a nice addition to my home office. I have used inkjet printers for years. They have been finicky, needing constant nozzle cleaning and attention, and the cartridges cost a lot of money. After using this laser for the past couple weeks, I will never go back to inkjet. First off, the setup of the Brother laser printer could not have been easier. I actually thought that I must have missed something because there weren`t many steps. I took it out of the box and was up and running in a couple minutes. It came with a cd install disk, but as my Macbook Pro does not have a drive, I was quickly able to download the install software from their website. A few clicks later and my first page was quickly spit out of the printer. I love the fact that it has an actual hidden tray where the paper stores....it`s so nice to not have a vertical paper tray that I have on my inkjet. It gives a much cleaner look on my office desk. The installation of the toner cartridge was super easy. When I used laser printers years ago at my old job, I remember the toner cartridges being a pain to seat properly at times. This thing just slid right in with no issues. I have never owned a Brother brand printer before, but I am pretty impressed by the overall build quality of the unit.... it is well built and doesn`t feel cheap like some printers out there that I have seen/owned. The print quality is exceptional, and I love the fact that I am able to adjust the quality settings from Fast to Best (which I couldn`t do with my old inkjet. This will allow me to save toner (and money) when the quality doesn`t matter. I have used both settings, and am impressed by both. Very sharp text edges and grayscale images.The only thing that kind of disappointed me was the fact that it did not come with a cable to hook into my computer, but since I will no longer be using my inkjet, I was able to just use my old one. The printer has a nice wireless function that my wife has used to print things wirelessly from her iPhone, so I`m willing to overlook the missing cable. Overall, if you own a small business or are in school and write a lot of papers, you should consider getting a laser printer such as this. I wish I had years ago. I would have saved a bundle on ink cartridges and frustration dealing with nozzle cleaning, etc.Very nice product overall.

I received my Brother Compact Laser Wireless Duplex Printer about a week ago I LOVE IT! It came with very clear and detailed instructions, little assembly and very easy to set up.After setting it up it was very easy to personalize it the way I wanted to because it has a lot of cool features. My favorite feature is that it`s a wireless unit. I can print from either my laptop or my wireless phone. Printing has never been easier. Now, it does only print in black and white but it works great for my printing needs. The print quality could be improved upon but for what I`m using it for (mostly coupons and printing documents for home it works great.It is compact, not bulky at all. Fits well on my computer desk. The paper tray holds up to 250 sheets of paper so I don`t feel like I`m constantly refilling it.Overall, I`m very happy with this printer. Very affordable and I`m also happy with the low cost of ink as the only color that will ever need replaced is black.

I am very happy with this printer the only thing I have found that I don`t like is the manual feed is only one sheet at a time. It would be nice to be able to have more in the manual feed at one time. Overall it is a very good printer and I would recommend it to a friend or colleague.

I like that you don't have to go turn it on every time you want to print, as it is in deep sleep and wakes up when you want it. Great. The manual could stand to be a little more detailed and clear, as I haven't figured out how to hard copy, although, admittedly, I may have been in a hurry. Trouble free so far. Thanks Brother.

I received this printer a few weeks back and I have been using it ever since. The compact size is perfect for desk placement.. It is a little bit heavy, but it will be staying in one spot anyway. Installing the toner cartridge is simple, and instructions are straightforward. I had a few problems trying to connect wirelessly without a cord, but I was able to resolve the issue quickly. I had a USB cord of my own that I connected from my laptop to the printer, and then it was able to communicate and finish set up. After removing the cord, everything has worked seamlessly. With past printers I have always had issues with the wireless set up, but with this Brother printer it was a breeze. Although this is a very basic laser printer, it is very fast, printing things in under 10 seconds. Love the speed! There are no hesitations like I have had in the past with previous printers. The duplex printing feature is also wonderful; especially for those of us who like to be green. I was a little disappointed with the quality when printing images, but anything with text only was just fine. My suggestions for improvement would be to add a copy option, and to include a USB cord. Overall, this is a nice compact printer for a home-based business or small office.

Paper jams on every print job after a little over a month of use. I found that the Toner / Drum assembly would seat to far down in the printer housing causing a misalignment for the paper path which caused the paper jams. Was able to work around this fault by lifting the assembly up just a little. Original Toner was used up and the printer sent the message to replace the Toner which I did with a new (sealed TN-760 Toner cartridge. After replacing the toner the printer did not recognize the new toner... Constant no toner error would be displayed. After 10 or 12 attempts to replace the Toner and clear the error code to no avail I gave up. I had to finish the print job on an old back up printer. Printer was returned to place of purchase. Perhaps I just got a bad unit which is understandable in mass production of these printers, there are a lot of 5 stars given to the printer overall. Many users are very happy with the printer... Did I just get a Lemon? I would recommend this printer based on other reviews of the 5 star users and how well it started off.But I would tell others I did get a Loser in this instance. Chances are I'm going to buy another Brother Laser printer, they are not all bad! When they work they work great.

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. Right out of the box, this small printer improved my life. It was wireless and for someone who uses a laptop, instead of a desktop, daily for personal and business use, not being hard-wired any longer allows me the freedom to move around my house.The printer was easy to assemble with clear, concise directions on a large, foldout instruction sheet. I chose installation via the set up disc because that is what I am most comfortable with, although download was an option. The install process seemed to take longer than expected but that could have been a slow connection. My device which has Windows 10, kept wanting me to install extra drivers which was confusing, but once I downloaded an update from Brother, the prompts stopped.The printer is lightweight and doesn`t take up much room, roughly a 16" x 16" area. For a small, wireless black and white printer it does a good job printing a few pages at a time. I would have liked the option to make copies as that is something I do on a regular basis.It`s compact and sleek but feels somewhat delicate. I used caution when handling the components and the paper tray because I felt it might break if the tray was closed too hard. Also, the Ready indicator display message was small and hard to read.Overall, I`m thrilled that the printer is wireless and also compatible with my smartphone . It prints well and was easy to install. It will work as "an extra printer" in my home, separate from my main printer/copier/fax. I`d recommend it for small jobs and for other basic printing needs.

All works great except that I have been unable to load updates to its operating system. This was Wirecutter's pick and I wish I had purchased it years ago. The printer kept going into deep sleep and had to be rebooted numerous times to reconnect to wifi. Several discussions with Brother consultants led nowhere, including the comment that here was no solution. I was about to return the printer when I realized that the IP address was floating and had to be set as a static IP address. I did that and it is now working fine. So now I can live with this printer, but am annoyed that the directions and support provided by Brother caused me a month of frustration.

I bought this printer when I could no longer get my old one to sync with my Wi-Fi -- I'd lost the installation disc and, well, it was nearly a decade old. My new one hooked up with Wi-Fi in one easy go, and I've been using it happily since. The bonus: With the free app, I can print from my phone. SO useful when copying, for example, documents I have to send off with my tax return -- my old scanner just lies in the garage, collecting dust.

I really like the double sided printing, and it has not jammed once, even when printing on used paper that had been printed on one side. The only issue I had was it lost contact with the wireless network for a few hours. Not sure if it was the printer or the network that was at fault. Was about to set it up wired, when it reconnected. A great upgrade from my older printer that jammed constantly.

Therefore, I wanted something that wouldn't break the bank but would do the job and have as little hassle factor as possible in regards to setting up and daily use. This printer has been awesome. I only use the Wifi connectivity and once getting the app installed and the Wifi setup printing is a breeze and I have had zero issues. The print quality is acceptable for what I need it to be and it prints quickly. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a dependable, low feature, black and white printer.

The printer will reconnect after a power outage and that is a timesaver. I do not use the printer often but my Brother is on the job.

Although it was an all in one printer, I very seldom used the scanner and never used the fax. Almost all of my printing was not in color. So I decided to try a Brother black only printer. It's fast and economical. It was easy to set up with my Apple Mac computer. The finished printed pages look fine to me. I'd buy it again.

The configuration report provides the IP address (via DHCP so we have a good connection. I've spent hours on tech calls which follow the same problem determination (PD) steps to no avail. Will exercise my warranty and hopefully return the machine.

It just works. Brother’s software also works with both my Brother printers, never gives me any trouble. At this point, I wouldn’t even think of using another brand. I’m in the computer industry, print for home and business use, buy good quality paper and get long life from technology. Brother’s products have lasted and lasted for me.

The reason I bought this one is that during a move the cartridge somehow emptied its contents into the old printer and I didn't have the equipment to clean it up. I was so happy with that great 'workhorse' that I bought this one, and it has proven to be just as marvelous as the other!

The only drawback is that it will sometimes go "too soundly" to sleep and not "wake up" on receiving a print command wirelessly from your computer or cellphone. Instructions to deal with this issue are available on the web. I have two of these printers in the house, so it isn't a major drawback.

Cannot find how to change print settings to print "pages" in reverse order. as in last page first. Instead have to manually reorder the checks. In Basic settings under Multiple pages, Normal is selected. The page order option is not available. There is no "N in 1" option.

My biggest surprise is that it prints on both sides of the paper with no hassle at all. The text is crisp, pictures are fine for B/W, and graphics are very sharp, although I haven't tried to print anything very complex or dense. No complaints after 5 months of intermittent use.

I did an internet search, and apparently this particular problem is very clearly described - offered 2 workarounds - neither worked - now I have to take my time to find and have it repaired....even if still under warranty, you don't expect a problem like this so soon with a new printer. Very disappointed.

I could not get it to print until I left it a few days, inserted the CD back into the computer and just left it in the computer. There was no manual in the box. Online information was not helpful. I managed to get it to print, but I would not recommend it to anyone other than an IT professional.

After opening the packaging I was surprised by how compact and lightweight the printer was; however some of the plastic components didn`t feel that sturdy and when opening some of the slots I was a little concerned I might break them off. The Easy Instruction guide was very useful to get the printer set up and up and running. The compact size lent itself to a wide range of placement options. I ended up being able to set it up in a closet to make printing easier from that location rather than having to walk to the office printer. The WiFi setup was very easy to setup and is a critical feature as I wanted to set up the printer as a wireless device. After printing the test page I was a little concerned about the darkness of the print quality but that went away after printing several more jobs after the initial test page. I was very pleased by the speed and quality of the print jobs and the reliability of the printer on the wifi network. All in all this seems to be a great printer for a reasonable price. I hopeful that the durability won`t be a problem as after placement the printer is rarely going to be handled physically.

This is a low cost, fast printing basic laser printer that offers automatic duplexing (where you can print both sides of each page). It can handle 250 pages of paper capacity and prints up to 32 pages per minute, so it`s reasonably fast. It easily connects to all your devices, so you can print wirelessly from your desktop, laptop, smartphone or other device which is very convenient. It also has a USB port as well, if you need.Has a toner save mode which helps you toner last longer so you don`t have to replace it as often. It should last about 700 pages. The print quality is good.It`s not the lightest unit to carry around in comparison to my inkjet, but then again, it will stay stationary so that`s not an issue.It also has a deep sleep mode which essentially turns the unit off, and your wireless devices may not find it while it`s sleeping so you have to turn the unit off and then on again to restart, but all in all you can`t complain about the price.Bottom line, If you`re looking for a low-cost basic laser printer, this is a good one.

The problem is that when it runs out of toner and you replace the cartridge with a brand new genuine toner cartridge right out of the box, it often refuses to acknowledge that the cartridge has been replaced. So, the printer refuses to print anything, even though it now has plenty of toner. The on-line support for this problem is worthless and I've had to phone Brother tech support at 1-877-276-8437 in the US. They were finally able to help me get the printer going again, but it took a 30 minute phone call.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 90% of what I want in a printer I'm a student so I print a lot of PDFs for class. This is an efficient, affordable printer in almost every way. I highly encourage you to buy this if you don't need any extra features. This is black and white, double sided, and that's all you need. The one thing that I hate and that needs to be looked into, is that when the toner is registering as low, the printer STOPS printing until the toner is changed. There has been no noticeable lightening of the black, no streaking or anything so my assumption is that there is still a good amount of toner in the cartridge that I will be throwing away. This is a black and white printer, so the logic here escapes me. If this were a printer designed for sharp images and color then I might understand more, but I feel that the target audience for this printer doesn't mind a little bit of a lighter black for their documents.

The automatic 2 sided feature gets used the most. It saves a lot of paper. Very pleased with the speed of this printer. The price point is excellent.

My replaced 2240 had the same issue. — Won't do multiple prints of same document except from a PDF. — When printer is unused, but on, for a long time it seems to go offline. NOTE: printer is cable connected, not Wi-Fi. Beyond these, the printer is fine.

This printer was pretty much “plug and play.” I can print from my wife’s Windows laptop, my Apple Mac Mini computer and my Apple iPad Pro (2017. I just set up my Google Android phone to print to the printer too. Very easy. I had to install Brother printer drivers on the computers and tablet and a plug in on my phone. The main thing, I think, is that the printer discloses itself to devices which wasn’t the case with my old wireless printer. Very happy customer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup. Economical. Sturdy printer for volu... I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. PRINTING: The main purpose of this printer is to print documents. I print a lot of documents with lots of pages, and this printer really usurped my current canon printer for that role. It prints black and white documents really fast, and really clear. Sure, it`s not as pretty, and it doesn`t have multifunctional color LCD control panels but it does everything the other printer does with its` simple control panel. And it does it faster. PRICING: I initially thought Laser Printers would be a more expensive investment since they use a laser and dry toner ink. However, based on prices of printers online, this printer`s price is in line with other inkjet printers. However, in terms of printing costs per sheet, this printer easily takes the cake. Between the amount of time I save while printing, and the number of sheets that I can get from 1 cartridge, I believe its roughly 9X cheaper per sheet. Even if this printer was more expensive than a regular printer the low cost per page would have offset that cost very quickly.SETTING UP: The Brother HL-L2340DW was easy (except for connecting it to wifi). From taking it out of the box to installing the cartridge it was very easy. I decided to skip the instructions and try to set up the wifi using the printer alone, and that didn`t work. However, AFTER READING the instructions and plugging it in, Windows immediately recognized it and installed the drivers from the internet without even having to use the CD. However, I did have to use the CD and follow some detailed instructions to get the printer on to the wifi. From there, I was able to connect with it from my Mac and iPhone, no problems. OVERALL: Great Printer. Easy to set up. Saves money in the long and short runs. Sturdy and fast enough to handle lots of black & white printing.

I swear that I could use it only a handful of times and if I let it sit for a while then it said it was out of ink. The Brother printer has been great. It's dependable. It is easy to connect to. Easy to set up. It is easy to load new paper (the drawer feels sturdy and on top of that I live in a small cottage and I appreciate that the footprint is small. The print quality is nice, too.

This printer allows me to load a good amount of paper into the tray and then it is fully enclosed keeping dust and my 3 year old out. The print quality is great and its fast.

The nice feature is that using the USB for my desktop does NOT prevent printing over wifi. (No CAT5 socket on this model. All the network enabled inkjet ones I've worked with shut off USB if either wired or wifi network is configured.

It was difficult to set up the wifi. I called help and she helped me for a long time, but finally had to go. Amazingly it all fell into place, but it was a hard process.

The only thing is that you will want to change the preferences to draft or a lighter font, especially if all you will be printing is text, because it will go through the toner very fast. But no matter what the quality of the printed material has always been very good. You can only print black & white with this one so color isnt an issue. And you can always keep on eye on the toner levels because the brothers utility app always lets you know.

There is no documentation on your website on how to disable this horrible deep sleep setting! The only way I was able to get this fixed was to enlist the help of my son who was finally able to find how to turn this off in a YouTube video! I would not recommend this to anyone unless instructions on this issue were included in the original setup.

I can't update the driver because it says the password has been changed, but I didn't change it and I'm the only user. The single feed sometimes jams and often has a spool error.

It prints in a flash, good quality and double sided if you like. There was a dark band on the first prints, which a web search helped solve. happy with the printer. Tried contacting Brother tech support. Hung up and returned the printer. Purchased an HP M118dw and worked immediately. Had a tech support question and they remoted into my laptop and quickly resolved. I am still using a Brother HL-L8350CDW, but when it requires replacement - it's not going to be replaced with a Brother product. Sad.

It’s a compact printer and so far (after 2 months of use)...the black and white print jobs are good from both my iPhone and computer! It was fairly easy to setup. I was amazed by the duplex printing and the printer delivers the printed output to the top of the printer. Genius! No arms to forget to extend to catch the paper. The printer is very quiet when printing and the print quality is very good. It’s an amazing printer at a budget price. It even has cool echo commands like “Alexa print some graph paper.” I had no idea about that when I bought it. I used it to print mazes for my children.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Size and print speed Disappointed that no one at Brother can fix the issue I have with this printer. The problem is that the printer will not let my computer get any sleep!! When I let the printer go into "sleep" or "deep sleep" and put my computer into "Sleep" or "Hibernate" state, the printer wakes up my computer after approximately 15 seconds. I have spoken to Brother tech support on several occasions but no one seems to be able to help. Very frustrating to have to deal with off shore tech support where English is not there native language. My only solution to the problem is to manually shut the printer off (Offline when not needed and turn it on (bring it on line) when I want to print something. Fortunately, I have a second printer (Epson Ecotank) connected to my computer as a backup. Both printers are hard wired (I.e. not WiFi) to my computer.

It works well out of the box. Lately, I have experienced a problem with it not resetting from Landscape mode to Portrait mode in spite of multiple resets. However, it is fast and quiet, and is economical with toner. I like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior Little Printer I bought this to replace my previous Brother laser printer, which finally gave up the ghost after many (10+ years. I've had this new printer for several months and it is a great little machine. It's compact, quiet, fast and I particularly like the dual side printing. The only reason(s) for a 4 star vs 5 star rating is the location of the control panel - a very small display on the upper left top of the machine; if you have the machine located anywhere other than at eye level it is almost impossible to see. Because this machine is also wireless, allowing you to put it anywhere, I like to put mine on the bottom shelf in my office where it is out of the way. So if I need to see the display panel, I have to pull the printer out. I also had a bit of difficulty getting the wireless function to work (which is the reason I purchased this model rather than a less expensive one that did not offer wireless). That could very well have been a problem on my part rather than with the printer; luckily I have a tech savvy son who was able to get that function up and running. Even he had a bit of a hard time doing it, though, as you have to scroll through the tiny display screen to enter wifi network information. Other than the initial set up snafu, it has worked superbly since then, allowing me to print from my chromebook, iPad, iPhone and desktop. Very pleased!

Beyond that, it arrived printing a broad stripe on every page, requiring an hour-long cleaning session. It goes into deep sleep mode after every print job, requiring an off/on cycle and quick action to catch it before narcolepsy sets in again. Here's a give-away -- the copyright on the software running this unit expired 10 years ago. I have not purchased Brother before and will not again. I will use it until the ink cartridge needs to be replaced and then sledge-hammer it.

This recent purchase was to replace an identical unit I've been using for some years without issue. Unfortunately, the previous printer's electronics was damaged by a power outage and surge. I was very relieved to fine that it is still available. I guess "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies to this model. I have 5 working computers using various operating systems in my home. All have wireless access to this printer. It is extremely reliable and spits out pages expediantly. My wife prints recipes almost non-stop. This is why I consider this printer a workhorse. It's size is perfect for the location where installed. The only thing that could be improved is the ability to initially wirelessly connect the printer to my network via a desktop computer. The printer is recognized but would not connect. I had to connect to the network via the printer front panel. This was only a minor inconvenience for me but I can see it as being mind boggling for others.

Second, learning curve that the print cartridge sits in a 'carrier' that in turn slides into the printer as opposed to the print cartridge itself. Threw the carrier into the garbage having to quickly retrieve. Last, the print cartridge does not print as dark for numerous pages. Will need to count the number of printings to further assess.

I was never able to get the software to work with my Apple products. I was also unable to download new drivers. Fast forward 10 years and I needed a printer for my infrequent printings. I gambled with this model. Everything was seamless and it was easy to set up and print from OS and iOS devices. Time will tell regarding quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid little printer Just replaced my HP Laserjet 6MP with this and am very happy with it. Print quality good and fast. I also own another Brother printer, and have never been able to set either up for wireless using their set up wizard. I've always had to do it manually through the printer's control panel. I do wish it allowed printing more than one sheet at a time through the front load paper insert. It grabs all the sheets and feeds them through. My ancient HP did this well. If you want to print multiples (like checks), you must use the bottom paper tray.

Speed is pretty good, because I can hit print and by the time I walk down the stairs my documents are ready. Hopefully longevity will be good.

When printing on precut labels the may print to the left or the right, cutting off the text. There's a toggle to assist alignment but as I said prior, it's cheaply made. Pretty disappointed.

But it’s been a pain since install since I use these at work and for whatever reason I have had to install and uninstall the driver package multiple times and finally just connected a USB cable. Sucks because it was supposed to be a WIRELESS printer and not as user friendly as I expected

Just considered it off-line. I tried everything I could think of. [recovering from a long hospital so brain function is weak at best.] Came down this morning to "call out the cavalry' - ie call Tech support. Seems to be working fine. I wil keep pushing it to see if I recreate the failures. Sometimes I hate computers!

I spent literally hours yesterday trying to make it print before deleting it and re- installing it. For unknown reasons it slips into offline mode and won't come out . I tried all the youtube solutions but they aren't compatible with the current Windows setup so they are seeing the old pop up boxes etc and I have the new ones that are different. This is not the first time this has happened and I've only had this printer less than six months. Yes, there were many expletives .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and efficient This printer replaced another brand that uses a lot of toner. So far this machine seems more efficient. It is much quieter. It holds much more paper, so refills are not needed as often. The only thing I dislike is that it sometimes goes into deep sleep and printing cannot happen until a button is pushed. I never know for sure when that might occur, so I tend to push the button anyway.

But this printer was DOA out of the box, it would not print a test page despite everything else seemingly normal. The return process was painfully slow and drawn out and I was passed around to multiple techs which took a couple of needless hours. Ultimately Brother ‘manned up’ and sent a replacement which too two and a half weeks to arrive. This whole waste of time and resource could have been avoided with better QC at the factory. Note to Brother, ‘cutting corners in manufacturing quality inspection will not you money’.

Unpacked it, gave it the wifi info, set it on the bookshelf, plugged it in. We've printed from tablet, phones and computer without a hitch. I had to watch a YouTube video to find out how to deactivate it because I could never get anything to print. I still have problems even in sleep mode but not as often as with deep sleep mode.

This is a great printer for the home! I was able to set it up and use it within minutes of unpacking it. It was very easy to assemble and set-up. No need for USB cables anymore! The wireless connection was a breeze through my Mac OS. I`ve been printing assignments, work notes, coupons, sheet music, and a couple pictures all week. This printer does a good job of keeping up with my demands. It does double-sided printing, and I even printed something from my iPhone! This printer has been very good to me handling all my jobs with ease and quickness. I sent multiple jobs, and they all printed with no freezing or hesitations.Best features - Ease of use & set-up! - Can handle multiple jobs quickly. - Great quality printing for documents and sheet music.Areas of improvement are: - The images I printed were not the best quality. - Once the printer is in deep sleep, I cannot figure out how to wake it up without getting up and unplugging it.

It is quiet and fast and has a small footprint. I currently have two other Brother printers, one a color lase, all which have given me the best service of any printers I have owned. Everything changed for the better with the new printer. The print is so black that I have turned on the toner saver function in the Windows 10 print driver. I have had no issues with connecting to the printer through the wireless network from any of the many devices that are on the network. The printer is perfect for our home office needs. One thing to mention is that the printer did not do well in shipping. 2 pieces of the styrofoam packing braces failed and I found the printer somewhat loose within the box. I had to examine the printer and then readjust the plastic body by re-snapping some of the panels that make up the body. After that little issue, I tested all functions of the printer, including duplex printing, and it all worked (and continues to work) flawlessly.

The first one is still functioning, but after many years of serving up perfect correspondence, spreadsheets, drawings, and tables, it was time to move up to a model that could more easily do two-sided text and graphics. The wireless feature practically set itself up when the software was downloaded from the Brother website. Now, the printer can be located anywhere in the house that our Wi-Fi reaches, and we can share it. Remember the days when dot matrix printers roared across the pages, making lots of noise and occasionally needing a new ribbon? Welcome to the twenty first century! Now we hear just the sound of the paper moving past the drum, and toner cartridges are much easier to change than ribbons were.

The customer contact guy was very friendly and walked me through several possible fixes. Finally, he told me that he would sent out a new unit. All good with the replacement

Turning on and off is different than the old printer, but consistent with the 3230 color printer. Functionally it is excellent and I expect a lot of years of use. It is my work horse.

It replaces my previous workhorse, the Brother HL-5470DW, and it lives on my home network. It is smaller and lighter than my previous Brother printer, while also being quieter and very much faster. I love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Similar to HL 2200 series; Early issues; now OK This machine was purchased to replace an old HL 2270 that was a GREAT printer for me, but finally gave out. The 2350 was on back order a long time, and when it finally arrived, the drum was defective. Almost all printed documents had a black strip down one edge. I ordered a new drum and toner cartridge assembly from a discount toner company and all works fine now. Some features were not working properly initially, but are now working after I went online for new software.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT LASER JET PRINTER FOR A REASONABLE PRICE I bought this printer for work because the last printer I had was full color and I only used it for monochrome printing. If it was out of any one of the colors the printer would not work until I replaced the hue that was low even though I didn't use them. I obviously don't have that problem with this printer. Usually these types of printers are very expensive and this one carries a very economical price for a good quality monochrome printer that uses toner as opposed to ink.

Still haven't figured out how to move to wireless on the original PC. This is my second one. Had the last one more than 10 years. Print quality is super and the print speed is very good. Will still print when in deep sleep (the old one wouldn't).

Brother tech support sent me a new driver and printer started working OK. I have not gone back to WiFi but new drivers are working fine on USB. Printer will also save paper by printing on both sides of the page.

I was also tired of the ink cartridges kept drying up. I decided I didn’t need color as I could use the local shop for anything needing color. I read that laser printers were much more reliable and lower cost to run. I searched the reviews for a compact laser printer. Brother was best in class. But which model? I found that the HL2350DW had the size and features I wanted. We bought it about a year ago. We use it every single day. It hasn’t lost Wifi connection yet. It just prints. I’ll never get tired of it.

I really enjoy the reliability every time I want to print something it prints. I can duplex print and other print options are very easy to designate. I did not print a lot so I'm still on the original cartridge and I'm very pleased with the total package.

One thing that buyers should be aware of is that all laser printers draw a large surge current at the onset of printing. This is to heat the toner, I think. Anyway, this can cause a momentary drop in voltage which can cause a problem with your computer if it is on the same circuit. This happened to me but the problem was solved with a UPS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great print quality, but has room for improvement. Out of the box this is a good looking laser printer with a modest footprint. Setup is a bit more complicated than it needs to be due to the minimal buttons and the tiny black and gray lcd screen that is difficult to read depending on the lighting and the angle you’re looking at it from. Once it’s linked up with WiFi it’s good to go though. The biggest flaw this printer has is that it’s billed as being Apple Air Print ready, and I guess it is, but the functionality of the printer using Air Print leaves a lot to be desired. This printer is capable of printing over 20 pages a minute, but in Air Print mode it puts out a max of 2 pages a minute no matter how you tweak the settings. The only way to get it to print at capacity is to use the Brother App. The app is easy enough to use but it seems like Brother intentionally made Air Print less funcional than their app for what I can only assume is for brand loyalty reasons. Selling this as an Air Print printer while making Air Print printing so slow is either a case of bad programming or deceptive advertising / marketing. Either way, I expected more from Brother. The only other annoying flaw I’ve encountered is the tendency for the printer to take what should be a one page print job and spread it onto two pages, with the second page consisting of one or two lines or as few as one or two characters. It seems as though that’s something that could have been taken care of in programming in order to conserve paper and ink. It’s especially frustrating because every time it has happened, the print setup didn’t show that there was going to be a second page, and even so, it should have been printed on the back of the first page since this is a duplex printer. All in all, this is a great little printer. The print quality is crisp, and for people who have a small office or just want to print some recipes or whatnot at home this is definitely a superb value. There are some definite flaws that detract from making this a perfect printer. Brother could easily fix these problems if they wanted to though, so hopefully they will in the next model. Even with my complaints, I feel this printer should be at the top of anyone’s list who is looking for a monochrome printer for printing text. Don’t waste your money buying an inkjet printer because you think you might want to print a picture here and there. Get your pictures printed at a store which is set up for producing great photos, and use this printer for printing text. You’ll save bags of cash in all the printer cartridges you won’t have to buy, especially since pretty much all inkjet printers today have governors that limit the number of prints you can get out of a single cartridge, even when there’s still tons of ink left in them. The toner cartridges this printer uses last for hundreds of prints, they never get dry, and you don’t have to run cleaning cycles. Laser printers are hands down winners for printing text, and this is a great printer.

One of your people assisted, and new firmware was installed. Then, and now, it will print, but only if I turn it off and then back on. The nice woman who assisted me said she’d send me info about how to fix the problem, but I never received it. In short, the ability to print from any place in the house is great; it just doesn’t (yet work that way. I must go to the unit and turn it off/on before it will print, defeating the way it is supposed to function.

Print quality is a notch or two below excellent but is completely acceptable for my application. However factor in the immediate purchase of another toner cartridge, could have bought a full featured printer. Dried up? Expired? I don't know, but they are WAY too expensive to keep having that happen. Happy with the Brother printer I bought. Haven't had it all that long, but so far so good. Prints reliably so far, wi-fi works well, zero problems. I'm pretty much done with inkjet. I'm recommending the Brother printer to friends and family now, maybe it will save them a few bucks in the long run.

It was a great printer and, so far, this printer is just as great with even better features! I love being able to print over wifi without using a print server. Even more, I love being able to remotely manage and monitor the printer in so many ways. This is an awesome upgrade from our last model. Quality printer and quality print jobs!

From printing invoices and documents to movie tickets, it does it all! Yes it only prints black and white but we realized that we hardly ever need color printing. This model, of similar size and appearance, is faster and provides 2 sided printing on windows 10. End results are clear, clean and sharp 2 sided copies reproduced exactly as formatted. I also like the idea that Brother continues to support this printer with firmware updates. I would have given this printer a 5 star rating if it would provide 2 sided printing using Windows 7. Despite multiple installs and settings configurations it refuses to print on both sides of a sheet of paper on my Windows 7 computer. I also would have liked an ethernet option.

It crushes/wrinkles envelopes when hand fed if you keep settings at regular paper thickness. My main difficulty is that the printer keeps forgetting its Wifi setting so I have to reinstall with USB wire for using printer with mobile devices.

Pros: -prints pretty fast for my individual home usage. I don’t have numbers to show but just much faster than my old ink jet. -quiet printing. It’s configurable in the settings. My old ink jet shook the small island table as if an earthquake was happening. This laser printer just warms up quietly, prints and idle down when not in use. -Auto-sleeps when not in use. I don’t have to walk over to it to switch it off. -can print from PC and IOS devices just fine. -can set up auto toner purchase (from Amazon) when it detects the toner is low. Cons: -the initial setup was a little rough. Have the specified cable handy because you might need it to help setup the wireless configuration. -instruction for printing from the front loader was not very accurate. It’s towards the front of the device not behind at the back. -OID is not readily available for SNMP configurations. Their support team will not provide exact details for this printer. This is not usual for most customers but useful for folks with software that can detect statuses from devices using SNMP. Have to use generic OIDs. Summary: I don’t use this device everyday and just let it idle in deep sleep mode. It still powers on within a minute for me whenever I need it. i can’t comment on the toner because I read toner will last longer than ink cartridges. I hope this is true as I don’t print every day or even every month. I purchased a cover for the printer separately that fits on it like a glove. Hopefully this will keep dust out and help the toner last longer.

If it's like this a year or so from now, 5 stars. Operation is good. Don't want to jinx anything but other printers have paled in comparison (you get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful small business printer I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I received this printer and right out of the box I was pleased with how easy it was to set up and begin using. The printers small screen is easy to read and after playing around with the different buttons, within a few minutes I had a basic understanding of how to operate it and make small changes if necessary. I was unable to find out how to turn off the "Deep Sleep" mode until I searched online and then was able to make the change easily. I have this computer hooked up to a Windows laptop as well as a MacBook Air. With my Mac and this printer, I have found that when the printer goes to "Sleep" mode, in order to print I sometimes have to turn it off and turn it back on so that it wakes up. This is not the case with the Windows laptop though. Is this user error with a setting on my Mac? Possibly! I am impressed with how fast the printer prints, and as a laser printer the quality of print is very good. I have been using the two sided printing feature quite often and it is amazingly easy, it prints one side and then pulls the paper back in to print the other side. This is my first time owning a printer with this feature but I can already tell that it is a luxury I won`t want to do without. I tend to stick with Brother printers and this one is no exception, they make great products and I am pleased to now have this for my small home business!

I spent a fortune in ink and wasted paper just to clean it before I could successfully print just one label. This printer has lots of features and it’s always ready. It prints super fast and I always get clear copies and it prints double sided on request. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because if the internet goes out, I have to manually reconnect the printer to wifi. I mostly use air print so it’s irritating to have to get up and go reconnect before I can print. Other than that, I really love this printer.

I Have found it easy to locate and install toner cartridges. I only reduced my review by a star as I had a very negative experience with customer support. The technician kept referring me to the online suggestions rather than proposing any solutions. It soon became clear that he was avoiding an issue which he could not solve. I finally prevailed upon him to bring in a supervisor and the problem was solved. I will give Brother the benefit of the doubt as they came through at the end,

I ordered a Brother HL-L2300D to replace my failed Samsung; I tried to print a PDF file and it kept telling me to select the paper tray - there was only one paper tray. I never got it to print a PDF file so I returned it for the HL-L2350DW and lo and behold this printer actually PRINTS what I tell it to PRINT! The wireless was an absolute bugger to set up, the instructions were very vague (and I've been a computer tech for 30 years, but finally got that going too, so I'm pleased to have a printer that prints everything I tell it to print, duplexes, and has wireless access.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Goes to sleep and will not wake up It goes to sleep and cannot be awoken. Many others appear to have this problem. You go to print something and it errors out. The panel on the printer says, "Sleeping" and after trying many suggested solutions, it still does not work. I end up having to go to the app on a computer and use that wizard to print. Then, it will work as it should for a while and fail again - typically when it is very important and urgent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not wake up Very disappointed with this printer as I own several brother printers for my business but they are all hardwired or networked. I bought this solely for the wifi feature of being able to print from anywhere in my house or my phone. Though the printer shows up in my phone, the fact is, the printer hardly every wakes from sleep mode. I have to physically go to the printer and restart it. It's hit and miss. One time it will wake up fine printing from my computer, and then the next day, no go. Brother's support is not very helpful in this regard. After A LOT of research, I could not find a way to turn off the sleep mode, though i was able to turn off DEEP SLEEP which for the life of me I dont know why they would offer that as a feature except so that the printer kills itself. I own 8 brother printers and this is the only one that does this. And the software for mac computers is very low grade, they just dont support it with all the tools like for windows computers.

The print quality was low for a laser printer, but that wasn't a problem for long because it malfunctioned just beyond a year after buying, making it out of warranty, despite having only printed a couple hundred pages total. Maybe I just got unlucky, but I won't be purchasing Brother again.

It prints jobs perfectly - clearly and quickly. The best part is the wireless capabilities. Being able to print from multiple laptops in my home makes the whole process so easy and enjoyable.

Minor issue. Also,I was a Automotive emission testing tech,and we used one of these printers in our machine.It took abuse, and it still worked for years.

Beware, this will not copy except from your device so don't think you're going to slip your birth certificate in it and get copies!!! It seems to print well but the lack of copying is a pain in the neck so I'm back to taking photos from my iphone and sending to printer. Should have done more research and that's on me.
