The Broadcom Avago HEDS-9000 Optical Incremental Encoder Module is a high-performance system that detects rotary position when used with a codewheel. It consists of a lensed (LED) source and a detector IC enclosed in a small C-shaped plastic package. Due to a highly collimated light source and unique photodetector array, this module is extremely tolerant to mounting misalignment.
