- Performance you need to support full IEEE 802.3 connectivity between remote LAN segments
Know your gear
Talk about tiny! If our compact Remote MiniBridge were any smaller, you could carry it in your wallet! As it is, this palm-sized powerhouse packs all the performance you need to support full IEEE 802.3 connectivity between remote LAN segments. All you have to do is plug it in! It configures easily with just four front-panel DIP switches. Once plugged in and powered on, it instantly begins learning the MAC-layer addresses of each node on its segment. Then it goes to work, reducing your overall network traffic by forwarding only those packets bound for other segments.
The Remote MiniBridge simply plugs in to your network hub or switch. Attach the WAN port to a DCE such as a CSU/DSU or multiplexor and you’ve completed your remote connection. You can even use a pair of Remote MiniBridges to extend or segment your existing LAN-two ingenious ways to improve the performance of your campus network. Filtering and forwarding rates of 14,880 packets per second (pps) approach the theoretical maximum wire-speed threshold of 15,000 pps, so you won’t find a much faster bridge than this one.
