This flexible modular switch improves today the bandwidth of your IEEE802.3/ u/x/z Gigabit and Fast Ethernet Network. Tomorrow it is easily upgraded to your future needs without high investment.

The switch offers 3 slots for hot-swappable modules with 8 Fast Ethernet ports each and 2 shared Gigabit ports (SFP + 1000BaseTX). The 8-Port Fast Ethernet modules are available for copper, fiber and long distance attachments. They can be easily changed without influencing the switching activities on the remaining ports. The SFP slot can be accommodated with any of the MiniGBICs for additional: copper, multimode, singlemode or WDM fiber ports, as well as long distance fiber backbone attachments.

You can access the switch through an Ethernet port and a web-management unit to monitor, configure and control each port's activity. In addition, the switch provides a broad set of useful features including 802.1p Quality of Service supporting even sensitive real-time applications like VoIP. Port Mirroring mechanism copies traffic from a specific port to a target port in order to track network errors or abnormal packet transmissions without influencing the data flow.

If you need to increase the bandwidth between the switches, you can trunk together up to 2 Fast Ethernet and 1 Gigabit Ethernet group (with a maximum of 4 members each) providing very high full-duplex speeds. If any port within a trunk fails, the packets are automatically routed to the remaining active ports.

VLAN, including the advanced 802.1Q-in1Q function, enables you to isolate traffic between different network users. So you can increase your network security and enhance the performance at the same time.

In mission-critical environments you can configure a second switch with a redundant back-up path to guarantee transmission and reception of packets in case of any fail-over within the network.

Finally the state-of-the art 802.1x Access Control provides utmost security for your network. You can limit user- or machine-identities for each port and in addition control the number of access stations.

On the whole this switch is a very flexible and cost-effective solution suitable for metro LAN and WAN applications.
