Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't work with Apple Multiport Adaptor I purchased this to work on my 2017 MacBook Pro through the Apple Multiport Adaptor with pass-through USB -C port. It doesn't work. It does work, however, when connected directly to the USB-C on the Mac. Why?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Uses RealTek rtl8153 chipset This uses the rtl8153 chipset, which is known to be unreliable with Big Sur. Not a great work experience to have Zoom calls randomly drop out. In this state, which happens every few hours, device media is in "connected" state, in fact you can see it toggle when disconnecting physical media (but leaving device itself connected), but no packets are send or received. Disconnecting and reconnecting to the USB bus is the only way to recover from this state, but no after having all remote connections with any state being reset.

I selected the USB-C™ to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter to use with my MacBook Pro because wireless connectivity in my home office is not as good as I need so I had to wire up. Straight forward to connect because it is reversible, no pushing it in the wrong way and it is plug and play so no fiddling around to get it working. Works perfectly I have not experienced any of the issues I was getting working wirelessly. This adapter is the great quality I have come to expect from Belkin.

My husband is very tech savvy and knew instantly that this little Gigabyt Ethernet cable would come in handy especially with our Apple devices. He was able to connect our devices with ease. This product and the quality are very impressive!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick connection I got this for my MacBook, and it works so easily! Plug and play, no drivers needed, just works. The USB C connection is nice and tight in the port so it won’t fall out, and the Ethernet cable snaps in nicely too. I got great speeds out of it, and it’ll be really handy for travel where I can use hotel wired connections.

It was immediately recognized and configured for use. I was able to establish an "AdHoc" network connection with a desktop computer using this adapter and a cat5 cable. It is a very user friendly and attractive device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LAN-connection drops - need to unplug re-plug-in This happens every couple of hours. Once I unplug, the MacBookPro picks up a WLAN signal and continues. When I then plug-in the adapter, LAN connection also works again - for typically a couple of hours. Running latest macOS Big Sur.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't work with 2018 MacBook Air I purchased this from the Apple store. I have a 2018 MacBook Air, which is one of the "compatible" models listed on Apple's website. I'm running Catalina 10.15.6. When I plug in the adapter with an Ethernet cable attached, I get a message "USB Accessories Disabled" Unplug the accessory using too much power to re-enable USB devices." The first time I turned it on with it plugged it, it forced a re-start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Speed and Easy to Use I use this connecting my Lenovo Yoga laptop to ethernet when I am working at my desk as it does not have an ethernet port. It plugs right into the USB-C port and just starts working with no setup or hassle. Luckily the laptop has 2 USB-C ports or I wouldn't be able to charge it at the same time as it uses USB-C to charge. I am seeing the same speeds as my other devices on the same network that just use their built in ethernet so it doesn't seem to have any issues using my current speed to the fullest. It is well built and sturdy so I don't have to worry about it when I throw it in my bag when traveling around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have for IT professionals or rookies. If you have a USB-C laptop with no ethernet port but have access to a hardwaire network connection, you need this. As a property manager who provides internet connection to tenants as part of their rent fees, It is vital that I can take my laptop to the source of the internet (before the wifi routers I provide) and make sure the internet is fast directly connected to my laptop. Once I know that connection and speed is there, I can then resolve whatever WiFi issues exist. Love it!

It has made my experience 1000 times less stressful and way more enjoyable. My download times have been cut in half. I highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2016 MacBook Pro Users: Only Works On Right Side I purchased and connected this adapter my Apple 2016 MBP 15 inch only to have nothing happen. So I browsed around online forums to learn that some people were reporting this adapter only works on the right side USB-C ports of MacBook Pros. This was also the case for me. It's important to note that all 15 inch MacBook Pros 2016+ have full Thunderbolt 3 support and bandwidth to all 4 available ports. Even so, this adapter must use the ones on the right side. I will be returning this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Disappointment I purchased this adapter from the Apple store a few months ago and the wire casing has already failed, as you can see in the photo. My 2015 Apple Laptop had a similar adapter (but it was an Apple brand) and I never once had an issue with it, even after years of the same type of use. The Belkin adapter is absolutely inferior — Apple shouldn't carry it in their store.
