Sounds great, but difficult to set up. iPhone could not read the setup code on the back, probably because it's printed in dark gray on a black device. Had to manually set up by manually entering the code on the back of device through the home app. Un-plugged it to move it to its permanent location, plugged it back in to power and now it's dead. tried multiple power sources, power cables, pressed the reset button, nothing works it's dead. won't turn on. a total waste of money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s alright - but not full Home Kit integration It plays via Airplay 2 as stated, however integration into HomeApp is a bit of a dead end. It sits there but doesn’t really do anything. It does not support Siri - so it’s only usefulness with Home Kit is basically to see if it’s active or not. You can only send music to it if you create a scene or automation, or physically select the device from your Airplay menu. Would be good to be able to tell Siri to play music through it. I think given this, the price point is a little high. If you are using Airport 2, keep with that. Other than that, easy to setup and there is no lag / sync issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great idea — but connection drops often Great product… but I constantly have connection issues. My Mac Mini M1 is litterally in the next room, about 10 feet away and the audio stream often drops. I dont know how to fix it, or if I ever can. It's very annoying.

There is no way to ask Siri to connect to this SOUNDFORM™?CONNECT AirPlay 2 adapter. For the price, it seems like Belkin should have licensed and allowed Siri to be used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up, but expensive Adding AirPlay 2 to any audio device is a great value prop. Sometimes an Apple TV or HomePod mini does not do you justice. Set up was easy with this adapter but I'm not too crazy about the steep price. This would be an instant recommend at the $50 range, so one star off for that, but it is a very convenient device if you are all in on the Apple Ecosystem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I have 13 sound zones in my house, mostly with old Airport Express devices on Airplay 2. They let me have single or multiple zones and powered subwoofers depending on where I am in the house. I was dismayed when Apple discontinued this device with no functional replacement. Even the AppleTV was not as good as it has no analog/optical audio out. The old AppleTVs worked but are not fully Airplay 2 capable and I can only use one zone at a time. This device is a GREAT replacement. Very small, about 1/4 the size of an airport, and extremely simple setup using the Apple Home app (which I already use to power the amps on or off). Only slight gripe is that it is wifi only and I really think wires are more reliable in general and have wired all my current devices with Cat6/7. I have not noticed any performance issues with the Belkin device, however, so more in my head than anything else.

It is compact and easy to install. The sound quality while streaming is awesome and there is no connection loss with my HIFI music speakers. I am loving it playing music on my non wireless speakers and it literally gave life to my old speakers. Airplay connection with this is seamless and on one click and no searching for device while connecting , just tap and you are connected. I would definitely recommend this product for those who don’t want to spend hasty money to get new wireless speakers. It’s makes your old audio devices works as new wireless speakers. No need for wired connection. With one tap you can have friends connect to your device and play their music.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect ! Set up was fairly easy and I was able to pair different types of Bluetooth headphones so that's a great win. The sound will obviously vary depending on the Bluetooth speakers or headphones you are using. I didn't notice any latency but your results could be different to mine. As you can see from the images that I have added the transmitter is very minimalistic and almost takes up no space at all. The transmitter will do only that transmit. For volume controls, you will have to rely on the volume control or your Bluetooth device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works but… The product is solidly built. Nice and small. My issue is it seems to be underpowered compared to the airport express it replaced. Result: the same speaker puts out less volume. Oh, and it’s overpriced for what it is. It should be priced around $50 max.

The style and color works great with other appliance we have in the household - this is very important to me. Set up is pretty easy, just simply plug in and you are done. It is powerful that I finally get my favorite songs and music on iphone and ipad through the stereo speakers in our house! So exited! This is not the first Belkin product I own and it never let me down.

We plugged in the adapter and was able to play music from our phones. It comes in handy especially when you have children. We really loved this and it made things really convenient.

This product requires no configuration and is completely plug it in and it just works. For my setup the cord is a little short for power, but there are many ways to solve for this, I would expect it so suffice for most users. I had been searching for a product that would easily work between an Mac to an existing stereo - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone with a similar need

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works, but only with iPhone When I heard that this was coming out, I thought it would be a great replacement for my Airport Express that I have been using with my speaker system in my living room. The product was relatively easy to set up, though you phone cannot automatically detect it through NFC, so you must go into the Home App and add it manually. It then shows up as an Airplay 2 target on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc and works to stream music to from your device. Unfortunately, that is where the functionality stops. I have HomePods as well, and unlike with my Airport Express, the HomePod cannot find the audio adapter to play music to. Thus, you cannot start music in say the kitchen on your HomePod and then ask it to also play wherever the Belkin audio adapter is connected (in my case the living room). You also cannot use Siri on your iPhone or other devices to ask it to play music on the audio adapter. Apparently the adapter will show up in your Home App, but has no other integration. I know it is possible for companies to have this integration as my smart lights can be controlled with my HomePod. This is not really a replacement for the Airport Express, and that is sad. The only way it works is to use one of your devices to stream music to it, though it does support the Airplay 2 protocol so you can have a connected speaker play along with your other speakers. I ended up going back to my Airport Express in the living room and placed this on my very ancient Apple HiFi so that it has Airplay 2 connectivity. While this was not a total waste, if you are looking for a true replacement to the Airport Express with all of its functionality, this sadly is not it. Nor does Belkin make that clear in the item description.

However, on the first day I had to use the Belkin app to run the "auto-sync" function because the sound coming from the Belkin was WAY out of sync with other AirPlay devices (HomePods).

The previous owner took the stereo with them and we had nothing that would connect to them until now. We did have a bit of a hard time getting it to pair and connect, we ended up having to type it in to get it to pair. The device is pretty simple to use and it works well. We’re happy to be able to use our outside speakers finally! The product works well for us and we are happy with it

I bought a $10 box from Amazon that does optical S/PDIF to analog conversion and that fixes the problem. Since others have reported the same issue, I can only conclude that the analog sections of this device have a design flaw. Other than that, I'm happy with it. I did have to try the pairing operation a couple of times before it worked, but other than that, actual operation has been completely seamless. The only other complaint I have is that this device is the same price as a HomePod Mini, but the Mini has Siri functionality. That makes this device seem to me to be overpriced. If it were more like $60 instead of $100, I wouldn't complain.

I purchased this air play adapter to see if it would work for my stereo so I can just hook up my phone via air play and watch videos or listen to music. Let’s just say it did exactly that and was so easy to use and set up! Within no time I was listening to my Spotify playlist on a surround system I could never listen to music on before. I would definitely recommend this if you’re looking to do the same. Belkin made a reliable and convenient product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Older Speakers on Airplay… Woohoo! This thing was easy to get up and working. Just tap the device with your phone and it links up to your Apple Home network… easy peasy. The device has a solid build to it, but you need external power to make it run. The USB power cord that comes with it is okay in length, but would prefer longer at least 8ft. It would be great if there was a battery option, for those times I like to take my speakers outside. Otherwise the sound is great. Real happy with it.

I have it hooked up to some of my old old school speakers and it sounds great all throughout my house. I just love that with this Audio Adapter with airplay 2 you can listen to your music in every room in your house or whichever you choose to be able to hear it in. You can play your music from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Also you will still be able to hear all your phone calls or conference calls anywhere in your home. It’s very easy to pair it tap airplay button from music app and it will start playing immediately on your speakers. Great high quality and clear crisp sound and the music plates at the very highest fidelity always. Very easy way to connect your iOS device to your favorite audio equipment. It’s great I love it and I highly recommend it!!

It's reasonably compact and allows you to use older or otherwise non-apple play speaker systems by plugging this device into them via optical audio or 3.5mm type jack. You need to register this adapter with your iPhone to enable it for airplay - it's pretty easy and is consistent with other types of apple device registrations. All in all, it does what you expect and is reasonably simple. What else could you ask for? No complaints - I recommend it.

It is irritating to listen to music on the radio when the signal is not the best so I hope this device is a game changer especially when traveling out of town. I like the sleek design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving these to replace airport express. Great product! Simple setup and works perfectly. I was using a bunch of Airport Expresses hooked up to a multichannel amp. Unfortunately the lags and other issues with AP exp led to subpar performance. All of that is gone with these.

Setup was super easy - I literally put my phone near the receiver and it recognized the device immediately. Can't get any better than that! It ties into my iPhone without having to download any additional apps or configuration - no downloads needed. Love it! Now I can easily listen to my Pandora stations and Podcasts without headphones. Highly recommend!

I have tried others and have had mixed experiences. This works, and works well. Very little delay in selection, no drop outs. Sounds quality is great.

Setup was extremely easy, and has been easy to use thus far. As I expected, the audio quality from the 3.5 mm out is decent, but is a little lacking. Thankfully, you have the option of using a Toslink cable to an external amp, which is what you’ll need to do if you want things to really shine. Overall, a very good product that I plan to use for quite a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works OK but crashes iTunes 12 on El Capitan So far, it has worked almost as well as my AirPort Express with a couple exceptions. If my WiFi has a hickup, I've found that I have to power cycle the adapter in order to stream to it again. It also crashes iTunes 12 on my Mac running El Capitan. Any time I try to connect to it from that Mac, iTunes crashes no matter what. I reached out to Belkin Support for help, but they're sending a new unit instead of troubleshooting, so maybe there's an issue with the first batch as I was an earlier adopter.

The sound quality is good, it’s clear but the highest levels are a bit weak. All in all, a good addition to the music lineup.

This unit solved the problem. I like that it has an optical cable connector to make the connection to my receiver.

We were able to connect this adaptor to a large speaker in our garage we never use because usually there’s too many cords and it’s hard to connect. It took a little bit of work to read the code on the device to input on my phone, but once I had the device setup, it was a breeze to use, and I haven’t had any connectivity issues. I will be using this on a daily basis and would definitely recommend it to others.

The adapter is small enough to disappear into the woodwork but ingenious enough to allow AirPlay from your iphone or ipad to stream through your oldie but goodie stereo. Since it uses wireless technology, it works despite the older equipment not having blue tooth capabilities. Best part is that it's a Belkin product - one of my favorites!

I had my doubts that the Soundform would sound better but after testing both multiple times on the same system the soundform sound much more clear and open.FYI I use Spotify

It was a easy connection to the speakers. I would say I would gift this to someone the loves to hear music in multiple places within the home. Y’all should try it out!

I’m a music teacher, and it’s really annoying to be glued to my computer to play music. Now, I can walk around the room with my phone in my hand and play whatever I want! But after the setup it works great and I love having my studio monitors hooked up to airplay in the house that is the magical part.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good SQ but After a long wait, it's finally here. I have mine connected to the Chord Hugo 2 DAC via the SPIF and am very happy with the SQ it brings. Good timing, dynamic and detail, with a touch of warmth. For $100 I have zero complaints. It's an IoT device at the end of the day so it has to be on a specific IoT VLAN. Due to the lack of the built-in mDNS reflector daemon, I wasn't able to see the adapter from another VLAN (like Apple TV/HomePod). Although setting up an Avahi server only takes 10 minutes but it would be nice if the future FW update can implement it. Everything works with Avahi, and I love the USB-C power port. Overall I highly recommend this adapter for streaming music to your sound system. Great work Belkin!

I'm so happy to be able to play music from my iPhone and have it played through my stereo speakers. Technology has come a long ways.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A bit tricky to set up, works flawlessly I pre-ordered this to replace an aging AirPort Express running AirPlay 1. The AirPort would frequently have issues and need restarted, and I wanted some of the new features of AirPlay 2 since I also have an AppleTV with a sound bar and a HomePod Mini. This device replaces the AirPort and then some. Audio quality is great, and once I got it added to our HomeKit setup it's worked flawlessly. The ability to send audio to multiple speakers/devices is great. I wish this supported the "shared up next" feature without having the HomePod or AppleTV in the mix, but I imagine that's proprietary. Setup is actually the only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars. It took 4 attempts with two different iOS devices before we could get it added, and the "hold your phone near it" setup didn't work at all. We had to type in the very hard to read code on the back (dark grey on black!), and most of the time doing that failed or timed out. We have lots of HomeKit devices and I've found sometimes they're just like this, especially if your 5 GHz Wi-Fi and 2.5 GHz WiFi networks have the same SSID like ours do. I imagine if we had a HomeKit-aware router this would go better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much potential The initial setup to the phone was unsuccessful, did not work with having the unlocked phone near the device, nor with opening the Home app and trying to add with the camera. I had to input the number directly and with my bad vision, it was tough. Finally got it setup and was working well, then it kept pausing the music, and then just stopped playing, was still connected but would not play anymore through the device. Very disappointing.

The only issue I have is that the volume is very low relative to other devices, so I have to turn the Airplay volume up all the way and the volume up on my receiver louder than normal to hear it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Limited Volume on Active Speakers I loved the simplicity of both the physical unit and the setup procedure on this product, but will be returning it for one reason: Max volume is only about 50% of what other devices produce. In my case, I was playing music on a pair of iconic Bang & Olufsen Biolab 8000 speakers which have amplifiers built-in (recently acquired for $440 on Facebook Marketplace). I was amazed that I had to have the volume set at its maximum setting to get anything close to a good listening volume. I thought it might have been the newly acquired speakers, but then I swapped out the Belkin for a Bluesound Node that I was planning to use in another room and it pumped out the full volume range that I expected. Now I'm on the search for an alternative product that costs less than the $549 Node and can deliver respectable volume levels :-(

I was unable to setup with my iPhone11, but worked with my wife’s iPhone12. Once connected it works for the most part as expected. However, what is disappointing is the output level for the analog audio is low. I have a battery powered Bluetooth adapter that plays louder. I payed a song at top volume, in the middle I paused the song, switched to the Bluetooth adapted and resumed. The Bluetooth adapter was obviously louder. I was expecting for a larger newer wall powered device that it would go louder than a cheap battery powered Bluetooth adapter.

Very convenient and now I can also listen to audiobooks and podcasts without headphones. The setup was quick, I just had to plug it in and then go into Airplay on my phone. I would recommend this to anyone with an Apple iPhone device!

I love being able to work out in the garage and blast the stereo with the music on my phone instead of listening to the radio. It works great and I haven’t had any problems it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Difficult setup but well worth the price... It was tricky to set up... the numbers would not auto read and the numbers were very small and difficult to read. I was surprised at this at this stage of iPhone development. I was also surprised that a cheap RCA adapter was not in the box to connect it to a stereo. The sound quality is better than the bluetooth by far. It is a good value if you have decent stereo equipment. I would recommend it highly and would purchase it again.

It also sets up fairly easy right out of the package, but the manual is easy to read if you need to. The only real issues I really have is that is drops occasionally and I have to reboot. I also have not been able to have Siri move the volume up or down. Those aren't deal breakers for me and over all I am enjoying the quality and sound I am getting from it. I do think it is a little high in price but if it lasts then I'm ok with that

This has none of those problems, controls are instantaneous, and live lyrics on Apple Music are in sync. This is perfect for me.

I had a hard time getting it to connect to my wifi. I got different colors lighting up, but no instructions. I had no idea what each color meant. The support is offshore- terrible quality phone calls- long waits and customer service reps who do not know this product, and their English is not fluent. Finally I reset the device and it worked.

In this age of blue tooth its a little disconcerting that I have to plug in 1-2 wires and then re-synch, I have speakers but they don't have 3.5mm jack so another issue. I'm going to make the effort to get speakers with the 3.5mm jack as I think quality might be pretty good.

I have a few speakers lying around and this allows me to stream all over the house without having to buy more devices. I also like that it’s small, which makes it easy for me to take to my friends and family houses and use there. I didn’t give it 5 stars because I did have a challenge trying to initially connect the adapter because the setup code on the device is so tiny and hard to read. I had to zoom in on my camera to read it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't work with Siri Works great if you use an AirPlay button in your phone's UI. But when you ask Siri on iPhone or HomePod, it says it can't find your speaker. Belkin said in a response to a question here that this Siri incompatibility is expected behavior. I believe this is a bug. No other AirPlay 2 speaker hides from Siri like this. This giant limitation was NOT in the product description. The entire point for me was to tell my HomePod to play on these other speakers. $100 was steep for that simple use case, but I figured I'd rather have something new than an old AirPort Express. It turns out this is NOT a replacement for AirPort Express, which works just fine with Siri. Belkin, figure out this issue ASAP. Until you ship an firmware update, correct your product description everywhere you sell this product. Also lower your price, this is embarrassing.

It hooks right up to my ipad so I can stream the music right to my speakers! So I have a USB type c connector for pretty much all my devices so it's pretty universal in my house, it's very easy to hook up and has a very informative guide to hook it up to your equipment, the cons of this is I didn't know you needed another adapter to hook it into my speakers and a lot of people just don't have some of that laying around maybe I just didn't read the box well enough but other than that this is a great product!

I was able to broadcast music to my older soundbar and it sounded great with no distortion. It is great to be able to use my current equipment versus the expense of replacing fully functional equipment The set up is quick and easy. The device provides a couple of connection options, 3.5 audio jack or optical cable. Then just locate it using your device Bluetooth settings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality with digital optical port The Belkin Soundform Connect adapter is a nice little tool to convert a non wifi, non airplay device into one that you can stream music over via your phone or other device.  I have an old receiver and amp wired to older but very high quality speakers throughout my house.  Previously I would just play the radio or CDs, which of course no one does anymore!  So I got the Belkin Airplay 2 device and now my older system is so much better!  I simply plugged the Airplay device into my receiver using the digital optical out, which is a great feature not found on many devices like this. Note...the optical cable is not included. I like the small size and quality, and have always been pleased with Belkin products, and would recommend.

I wanted Airplay2 capability so the Belkin adapter was perfect. Out of the box, the adapter would not automagically initiate setup on my iPhone 12, but after I did a reset on the adapter, everything proceeded as expected. I am using the optical output on the adapter to connect into my home stereo which also works flawlessly. Overall I am very satisfied and would buy another if the need arises

But not all receivers, amplifiers, or powered speakers support it. Belkin's Audio Adapter is an easy way to add AirPlay 2 streaming to any audio equipment that has an optical digital or 3.5mm analog audio input. I have had it connected to my television upstairs in my room and I love the sound that has been coming out of my receiver and speakers that I don’t think was ever as clear as crisp as it is now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Once You Get it Connected So initially I have to admit I was frustrated, because I couldn't figure out how to set this up. Every time I would try to pair it with my phone, it wouldn't pick up the adapter. Finally I found a YouTube video that kind of helped, but ultimately I ended up figuring out on my own that I needed to have My Home set up, once I set this up my phone still wasn't reading the QR code but I proceeded by setting it up manually and typing in the number. Once I figured out My Home it was really easy to set the entire thing up. It makes managing my speakers so much easier!

I can connect my iOS devices to this device with no problem and it sounds good enough for this system. I think that it has limitations though. Belkin seems to say that do things by design when it doesn't work, like no Siri support. I have also found that I can't select the device in Apple Music app on my Mac and send just the audio from Music app on my Mac. I can see the Belkin device, but once I select it nothing happens. However, I can select to send all of the audio from my Mac to the device (so alerts noises come through as well). This seems very strange, but again a "by design" function of the device. Overal it works for me, just not as functional as I would have liked.

Unfortunately it only works half the time. I have to dig into my entertainment system to unplug it and then plug it back in. Super frustrating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not impressed I really want to love this device. After setting up with my phone, which had to update. I became quickly frustrated. I had to order a special auxiliary cable to work with my unit which it didn't realize when I received the Belkin AirPlay 2. Finally I got it all set up to work, and the volume isn't even there. It was about half of what loudness comes from the speakers when playing a CD or listening to the radio. The concept is a really great idea and I will have to purchase another speaker to try again as it does not work with my B&O products, which just may be too old to handle new technology.

The speakers and hardware are still in excellent condition and this lets me network easier with multiple brands of speakers with Air play 2. A very inexpensive fix that will allow me to keep my equipment for years to come.

When working it seems be ok and I’m limited to using with my I phone. I heard if I update my OS on my Pro I can than use it there but to me it’s not worth doing that. Anyone updating knows how that can become a dirt road.

But setup was so smooth and minimal that it didn’t ask which WiFi network to use. I reset it and tried to get it to use a different network and setup failed multiple times, resetting and getting errors, long wait times and ultimately failure. Trying to get it to join a network that isn’t the default for my phone never worked. Finally I gave in and let it join the same network as my phone, which works but isn’t what I wanted.

So happy to have a low cost AirPlay 2 input for my bookshelf speakers that allows me to use them in a group with HomePods and any future AirPlay 2 devices I might get. Setting it up on iOS via the Home app was easy. Haven't had any playback issues from multiple devices. Only minor snag I hit was that you do need the included (5A) power adapter. A USB plug built into surge protector, hub, etc. won't provide enough power for the device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low Output Volume Ruins This Product I was hoping this would be the replacement for my aging AirPort Expresses. The setup was easy, and playing audio was smooth. However, the analog output has very low volume and requires more amplification than it should. (Yes, I checked the source volume, and I've used similar devices for a long time.) After some troubleshooting, I decided to try returning and replacing, just in case that particular Soundform had a hardware issue. But, the replacement exhibits the very same behavior: very low volume output over analog. The optical output is not affected, of course, but the analog output should work properly. Maybe a firmware update could fix it. For now, though, the Soundform Connect is a disappointment.

FYI, if the music coming from the adapter sounds a little off. You have to download the app Belkin soundform to fix it.

Setup was really easy- the instruction manual is very clear as well as the scan instructions for iPhone. This made streaming music from my phone quick and simple! After renaming them I have been able to get siri to recognise them but only via a homepod mini. This allows speaker selection and volume control. Strangely this did not seem to work at first (maybe an over air update occurred). As others have said the output volume is low but my days of volume at 11 are rare so I’m not too bothered by this. Works with my Bose and B&O which will have some more life in them now. Would have been five stars if the output and Siri issues were fixed fully.

Line level is low, so it needs alot of amplification which is really not a big problem. Now I have 3 if anyone wants them for a low price

It works very well and is highly recommended. Couple areas that could be addressed by Belkin would be the price and also allowing Siri to work when requesting playback to this device. I would sure think a firmware update or app update could address the Siri issue. Siri issue is mentioned but you have to dig for it in FAQ. The price request is a wish of course. Other than that great job Belkin for launching this to fill a niche. Thx

I'm excited to now play music from my iPhone through these older speakers. I would definitely recommend this adapter to others looking for something similar.

The product a bit overpriced for what you get out of it. It is quite finicky with Siri and sometimes says it’s playing when it is not outputting any volume. When it works it works well and it’s nice that I can pair it to other speakers to have whole home audio.

Setup was a breeze in the Apple Home App, once I figured out where the device code was located on the device. I had received a competitors Airplay device at twice the cost. Very disappointed. Not Apple Home compliant and required using a proprietary app to set up. The Home App was looking for a QR Code that is not included with the device packaging.

Yes it is overpriced but I was happy too have AirPlay 2 support, ease of use and connectivity that comes with it. None of that is true. Setup didn't work as Belkin states and Airplay 2 devices work. had to do it the manual way... very clunky and time consuming which includes a flashlight and magnifying the impossibly small numbers on the back. After setup choosing the Belkin adapter to stream music was a hassle with delays each time for the adapter to "appear" on the list of choices. and forget choosing it on my iMac. EVERY time I selected it Music would crash and had to be restarted. After many attempts crashing every time I called Belkin for custom support. Waste of time. Lengthly call with no results or acknowledgement of obvious issues. Was hoping for mention of a software "update" but no... I'm returning but also hopeful this will eventually work as intended. Please Belkin get this to work. Back to the old but trusted AirPort Express.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works great. I bought 5. Out of the 5: 4 worked great, as designed. This adds airplay 2 which is SO much better than airplay 1 which isn't worth having enabled. You can add it through an optical cable or miniack or minijack to RCA split adapter. The level is a little too low, so hopefully future versions will have an output on the RCA minijack closer to line (which shouldn't be a problem if you use Optical cable). Installing is a little challenging. On iphone or ipad: If it doesn't work or you want to change it somehow, remove from HOME app first (in the 'gear' menu) and reset it (paperclip method) simultaneously. Then reconfigure/name. Of the 5 i bought one of the devices corrupted the entire airplay network and it was unusable as long as that device was part of the system (which didn't get better with resetting/ect). Finally, I figured out it as a hardware problem, and Belkin authorized sending a new one, but it was an ordeal to figure it out at first. A mix of this adapter to various amplifiers I have adds great airplay 2 functionality. A sophisticated receiver can be configured to increase the gain on the RCA input but will also have an optical cable making it uneccessary. This is the best available solution for adding airplay 2 to an existing system with line-in capability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not so great adapter with a small niche purpose. Connects well and does add airplay too a “dumb” speaker. My house is full of Homepods and I was hoping to use this to add a larger speaker to the whole home network system but there is a horrible delay caused by this receiver. Also the sound on the speaker is greatly reduced and distorted when I used this. Overall if this item will be used on a solo speaker and you’re not worry about distortion it’s worth the buy. If you’re thinking whole home audio then I wouldn’t recommend this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor design in my opinion I tried to use this audio adapter in my car that doesn't have a sound system that lets me plug in an iphone. I found that having a USB-C port to charge this was a complete downside because I don't have USB-C in my car, only USB. I would imagine most people are in the same predicament. I also could not find a way to use it solely running off of battery, so this is just not a good product for me. I cannot comment on sound quality since I did not get it working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brought new life to my 50 year old stereo system Hooked up to the Aux input using a 3.5mm to RCA adapter cable. Works perfectly. The only setup glitch was with the Apple Home App. This was the first device to it, so it took about 30 minutes to get past the downloading accessories and scenes screen, in order to reset the Home database. Then it was just seconds to setup. Belkin app updated the firmware without a hitch, also. Curious why folks are getting issues. Patience grasshopper. Remember also, that the volume setting on the device that you are streaming FROM, affects the volume when using Airplay. The initial setting the first time you connect will be at full down. Folks that are having low volume issues should check this. I have no complaints. Get one.

The tech support representative I talked to said that some models have a hardware problem and some do not, and from the consumer's perspective there is no way to differentiate between the two. It sounds like Belkin has fixed the issue, but has no way to identify the units that do not work. It is unclear if the issue is caused by poor quality control or a range of old models that don't work. Buying several, identifying one that works, and returning the rest might be a viable way to get one that works, especially since the device seems to be often discounted by 30% now – presumably due to this very issue. The WiiM Mini might be a viable alternative but has a bunch of features that I don't need or really want to deal with.

I have to reboot these at least once a week to keep them connected. Now with iOS16, they don’t work at all with HomeKit. Airplay from my phone works as expected, but from any HomeKit hub you can only connect once. If you disconnect it still shows as a connected and you can never reconnect. There goes my home automation.

This allowed me to connect my devices easily and utilize my whole house audio system. I was happy to find I could sync this with my other airplay devices with no noticeable lag in audio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great, needs better DACs This is a great product and works well with all AirPlay configurations. I have it hooked up to a Yamaha A2000. Initially it was hooked up to the analog output of the Belkin audio adapter, but the output volume was too low and not very good quality. I switched to the digital output and that is significantly better since the digital to analog conversion is done by the amp. For $99 there is cuts that need to be made and the DACs used were where that is done.

I wish I could tell siri directly to play on my device. I know it’s not supported via the FAQ, but it would still be nice. 2. The NFC setup with HomeKit did not work. I had to enter the device in manually.

Great price, and it does what it says. However, it seems to disconnect randomly from WiFi [A LOT]. In my case, it is literally six feet [direct line of sight] from the access point, so that should not be the case. When it works, it's brilliant! I would also love to see it gain its own volume control in homekit or the belkin app.

Noisy analog output To the point, the analog output is noisy (poor shielding?) and the level indicates that the design team did not have the 0dB/10k level of consumer equipment in mind. It's a DHCP item only and does not permit setting a static IP. And I have to wonder why it won't work with iTunes. Save your receipt.

I used a chromecast before this and it had terrible sound. This transmits CD quality sound. I also love the Airplay 2 functionality as I can play on all my existing AP2 devices with no issue or audio syncing issues.

Previously I used a Bluetooth adapter but that required the source device to remain close to the adapter. This AirPlay adpater connects using WiFi so the source can be anywhere in our home. So, once working, this is great. Now getting it working was another story. setup was tedious and problematic. I was close to returning it before it finally started working. So overall I'm very pleased with this but be prepared to start over many times during the initial setup.

The sound quality was good, but it stuttered quite a lot. Good wifi signal in the room (same room as a Ubiquiti access point); maybe an option for ethernet connectivity would have helped. Ultimately gave it to a friend who wanted to try it.

I am no longer using it and purchased a dedicated amp that supports Airplay. It was frustrating to troubleshoot to figure out if the problem was an Airplay issue or a device issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great iPhone solution that's better than BlueTooth No one likes connecting to some jenky speaker using bluetooth, everyone likes the seamless interface and experience of interacting with Apple AirPlay especially if you have other Apple TV or AirPlay enabled devices in your house. This product serves the best purpose to connect dumb old stereo gear to a modern iPhone interface. Well worth it, however if you have even the slightest though of connecting video, I'd pay $80 more and jump to Apple TV 4K that gets you AirPlay and video.

I've got this hooked into an expensive dedicated DAC driving self-powered studio monitors and sub. Easy to install, easy to stream music to from an iPad. This replaces several more annoying solutions I've tried over time. I've not had a lot of time with it but works fine so far!

Renamed the device to stereo and now all I have to do on spotify, pandora, etc is tap the other devices in those apps and tap stereo and boom wireless music to my ears. Couldn’t be happier. Ordering another for home on the east coast!! Thanks Belkin!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I use this for Airplay2 with an analog amp and speakers along with a Sonos One SL. Audio syncs perfectly between the two. Analog volume output level seems really low and I have to crank it all the way up for my amp to make it audible. Other than that it's pretty good. Airplay 2 has a lag so watching videos and stuff with it isn't great, but that's a limitation of Airplay and not the device. It did take a lot of effort to get it to connect initially with the Belkin app. I don't remember what the solution was but the initial setup experience wasn't great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wanted hifi product but destroyed by loudness war Airplay 2 comes with excellent audio capablities but unfortunately this device is infected by the loudness war, i.e. in this product meaning that sound output is like pressing any old-time loudness and increase base levels to (almost) max. Both digital and analogue output. I wish they had left at least the digital output more untouched. That destroys it a bit for me having capable equipment. Not nerd level but appreciate when I can decide bass/loudness for myself. For the casual remote active loudspeakers user this does not matter, but if you expected something close to hifi (which airplay 2 is capable of) you'll be dissappointed. Other than that it works like advertised, easy installation and then your iphone/spotify etc will find it. It has a lag between song switches due to a bit slow D/A converter but thats fine given the price level. Wish some forward looking company would make something close to this product with a more accurate sound image.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Setup with iPhone; add a Legacy Speaker I purchased this to add a home intercom system as a "speaker" so I can enjoy Apple Music all over the house. I also purchased a Digital Optical to Analog RCA Converter (from another vendor) to connect to the AUX input on my 30yo intercom system. (Other reviews indicated that using the optical output port would increase the volume from the Belkin; that's correct, but I still needed to turn up the Master Volume on the intercom unit.) It all works great. I placed my iPhone on the Belkin adapter and launched the Home app. I added the Belkin to my Home and named it House. I asked Siri to add the House speaker, and Voila! Beatles, Beach Boys, and Byrds everywhere.

I was able to get it to install and it worked well for three days. Now all of a sudden I can’t get it to work at all! Very disappointed. Documentation is sketchy! I don’t think I would purchase this again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Too bad there is no ethernet, otherwise good Great device, it's almost a replacement for the popular Airport Express with Airplay 2 and audio-out. Unfortunately, this one does not support ethernet (network cable). The Airplay 2 protocol is quite reliant on latency for syncing, especially in multi-room setups. Wired network has much better (lower) latency compared to wireless. If the next iteration of this device had ethernet, I think that would be an awesome addition. Ideally with PoE support, but maybe that's wishing too much :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product lousy phone support I purchased 2 adapters. The first one I tried to set up and got a message that the code copied from it was incorrect. I then tried using the Belkin app and it couldn’t find it. The second one set up immediately without any problem and is working great without any problems. Attempting to contact support by phone was a nightmare! I got messages saying to expect extended waiting time due to unusually high call volume (different days and times). Twice I was able to leave my number for a call back. The first time I got a call there wasn’t any response, just dead air. The next time when I answered I immediately got the hold music which continued for 45 minutes until I hung up. I finally used the support chat. After a 1 hour session (which would have taken 15 minutes of talking) I was told that I would be able to return it for an exchange and would be contacted.

The builder did a fantastic job, and went so far as to wire nearly every room for ceiling speakers. He installed a power outlet with each pair, and ran high quality speaker wire between the openings. In the upstairs, he also ran home-run wires to a closet for a more centralized system. Due to supply chain issues, he wasn't able to get the speakers he wanted, which turned out to be a good thing for me. I took the credit on the purchase price and designed the system myself. We are fairly entrenched in the Apple ecosystem at my house, and I wanted speakers that were AirPlay 2 compatible, so I could stream the same thing to multiple speakers throughout the house, or pick and choose. Based on my research, the options for ceiling speakers with AirPlay capability is quite limited. A company in the UK makes a product that claims to be the only option in the world, but they cost over $600 a pair. I found the Belkin SoundForm Connect Adapter that features AirPlay 2 compatibility, with headphone and digital optical audio outputs. The speakers I found feature a RCA input in addition to built-in Bluetooth, which fit the bill perfectly. I initially connected the SoundForm Connect to the speakers using a headphone jack to RCA adapter, but it seems that the headphone jack on the SoundForm in underpowered, and the max volume was rather low. I replaced this with a digital optical to RCA adapter, and the improvement was impressive. I use a WiFi plug for all the components so that they don't have to be powered for the 98% of the time I am not using them. I hope someone finds this useful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact sound quality, easy config The Belkin adapter is a great alternative to Bluetooth, and for good audio systems, the quality improvement of the Belkin AirPlay2 is clearly noticeable for any genre with wide frequency ranges, nuanced sound stage, and high dynamic ranges. Particularly with my 300B equipped tube amplifier and full-size speakers, this adapter does not suffer from Bluetooth compression that otherwise requires well-implemented DSP algorithms on the receiving end to mitigate...and that can be hit-or miss. The Belkin adapter is a hit.

I have an old receiver, now I can use it together with other Airplay 2 products, and use multi-room audio. The audio quality is great, and it works great even in auxiliary mode. The process of setting it up was super easy, the instructions were simple, and I was able to do it in 30 seconds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Annoying Setup, otherwise nice Once it’s set up, easy to use, and works well connected to my Schiit DAC and headphone amp. Setup can be annoying. I spent like half an hour trying to connect it, but it kept failing with next to no information. Eventually I guessed it was having trouble with the ac wifi network my phone was connected to. Sure enough it worked like a charm when I (temporarily) switched my phone to the older 5ghz network. Also, the code on the device is really hard to read, especially in less well lit areas (aka where I expect most people will use this).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn’t work. This device barely works. Problems with wifi connectivity, audio quality- there is a high frequency noise output by the device that was not there when I used my airport for the same function, and that is if I can get it to be recognized by the apple TV at all.

When it does it cuts out after a 5-12 minutes. Not reliable. I tried everything. Rebooting, reinstalling. It doesn't work. I hate this thing

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Random connect/disconnect SOLVED Friends, I have finally solved the problem of connection/disconnection issues from an iPhone after several years of daily frustration! I have 3 SoundForm Connects connected to several high end audio systems. If you have experienced "Unable to connect" or random disconnects during audio streaming here is the solution: I had the two SSID's on my LAN router set to the same name so that devices will automatically choose the best connection on the fly (a common practice). That WAS the problem. If I started streaming on 2.4GHz in one room and then then moved to another with my phone, the AirPlay2 would randomly stop and then I couldn't even reconnect. The only thing that worked was rebooting the router. That was because the iPhone was switching to the 5Ghz band. I renamed the 5GHz SSID so that I can ONLY connect to the 2.4GHz band and now every SoundForm Connect works perfectly. I am thrilled because this has been extremely frustrating for years! I listen to music all the time and I only stream now with high def Apple Music. The device is essential if you have high quality audio gear and want to AirPlay to it. Until recently there hasn't been any competition. These little devices are inexpensive and with the TOSlink and CD quality downloads the sound is wonderful. I really hope this helps those of you who have been struggling with random connect/disconnect issues. google searches produce hundreds of hits but none of them mention this solution. I haven't had a disconnect in 3 days now so I am convinced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awful. Unreliable. Waste of time. Lots of promise but awful. Pairing is almost impossible with an iPhone. Integration with Home is terrible. Code is grey on grey so can't read it! When it finally does connect (if it does), it often drops out. And if you move it or tun off and on again, it doesn't remember. Big waste of time for what should be a very straightforward process.
