SurgeArrest components such as MOVs and thermal fuse ensure instantaneous reaction to lightning strikes and wiring faults. APC's SurgeArrest fail safe, which means that once the circuit of an APC SurgeArrest has been compromised the unit disconnects equipment from the power supply ensuring that no damaging surges reach your equipment. It attenuates EMI/RFI line noise that can cause data errors and keyboard lockups, ensuring better performance of protected equipment. SurgeArrest will warn you if its circuitry has been damaged by heavy strike or power line surge and it is unable to provide protection.

APC Performance SurgeArrest P8 - surge protector is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sleek design I like the sleek design and the long power cord. The "grounded" green light feature is easy to see even as it sits behind a desk and on the floor.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Insufficient information We were faced with few choices, and chose this based on joules it can absorb, even though there was absolutely no information on the time constant of the response or the clamping voltage. Next time, we will look for another store where a competitor provides more information. APC got one sale today due to our time constraints, but we will NOT be buying from them in the future! Even searches through the website failed to produce any additional information.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performance SurgeArrest 8 After a month, and a couple of strong storms, this works as expected. AC Adapter spacing is very useful. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wowee Zowee! I got this to compare with other similar units, and this one is truly deluxe. It's got five side-by-side receptacles, which offers some flexibility for what you put in them, especially if you're not using all five. Those are set up so the ground wire is near the edge, so plugs with extra bulk could extend out over the edge. But then it has three receptacles that are spaced out for DC power supplies, and those go along the opposite edge, so "wall warts" could hang off that side. All 8 receptacles have cool sliding shutters to keep dust from getting in the unused ones. There are back lighted indicators around the end of the unit where the wire is. One shows that the wiring in the building is properly grounded (when lit to green), and the other shows that the surge protection circuitry is intact and working. Without looking inside the unit, I assume that circuitry is first class all the way, like everything APC builds. There are larger models of this that have UPS charging ports, but this one does not. The maximum amperage is 15, which is quite a bit. The cord is a generous 6 feet long. I've never had to exercise the insurance that comes with these, but this has $300,000 of connected equipment insurance, which is magnificent. The unit has a lifetime warranty. What a find! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality I especially like the green light indicator to let you know you are protected. The 6' power cord is a plus also because most surge protectors only have a short 4' cord. The layout of the outlets is very good too...will handle all types of plugs. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but not great I've been using this surge protector for a couple of weeks and it does a good job. Pros : It is solidly constructed from black plastic, the outlets are well spaced and there is a lighted strip at the end to let you know the power is on and the circuit is grounded. Cons : The sliding shutters over the outlets are a nuisance when trying to plug in a cord with one hand. When I opened the box, one of the shutters was stuck in the closed position and had to be pried open with a screw driver. While I was at it, I pried off all the shutters. Problem solved. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Solid Surge Suppressor from APC The APC P8 is another fine offering from APC. This unit has a lot of positives:1. It has room for 5 regular plugs and 3 wall wort plugs. 2. The plugs can be locked when not in use3. It has a rating of 3420 joules. This is more than enough for what most people need.4. It has a Grounded Indicator that glows green to let you know it’s stable.5. The power switch is located on the side of the unit under the grounded indicator so you will not accidentally turn it off. There are only 2 minor quibbles I have with it:1. It only has a 6ft. cord. An 8ft. cord would have been nice.2. It does not have an angled plug.I had my laptop, my tablets and other devices attached and it worked flawlessly (as expected).Overall, this is a great surge suppressor for the money. Highly recommended! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Surge arrestor These are the best surge arrestors that I could find. APC is a reputable company, the arrestors have one of the highest payouts in the event of electronic damage while attached to this unit. It has one of the highest jule ratings. The construction is solid and it has a little green light along the edges when it is plugged in, powered on, and grounded.
