What can go wrong?
It's hard to go wrong with a power strip, but what do we really know about what is going on in a device that claims to protect equipment against surges? As a longtime customer of APC, I take comfort in these people knowing what they are doing. You can probably buy a strip for less, but how much can you really trust it? I trust APC and this device is no exception..

What I've come to expect from APC
I've been using this surge protector for over two weeks now and it gets the job done. It's been my experience that APC products are built to last and I expect this will be no exception. Pros: Clean design, rounded corners, plenty of outlets, with power switch and lights located on the top in clear view. The two USB outlets are extremely handy for charging my iPhone and iPAD. Cons: Could use a longer power cord - instead of 6', maybe 8' or 10'. The power switch feels a little cheap. It works, but it wobbles around.

Very nice multi function power strip
Received today, arrived intact, packaging perfect for the product. At first glance, it is one very nice power strip. The first 2 people who came to my office want it to replace what they have. Their interest is immediately peaked by the 2 USB charging ports which will eliminate their phone chargers on their strips. This unit has a heavy duty cord that will stand up to all kinds of abuse like people walking on it repeatedly. The switch is recessed so it will be more difficult to accidently turn it off, and it has a green light so you know it is on. There are 8 outlets, and 3 are turned so if you have a transformer, it wont take up 2 or 3 spaces which is extra nice. It is deployed to a workstation with 2 monitors, powered speakers, a phone transformer, a cell phone charger (going away once the user gets a chance to swap his out but the USB activated the phone so it works) and a desktop light. The cord for a camera charger is in USB#2 as well but has not been used yet. This is a nice one, when they come to the market I will try to get some more as we replace the super old strips when we replace workstations. Note: this will be on the surge protection only side of a UPS850 battery backup, with the PC and Monitor 1 on the battery backup side.

SurgeArrest 8 Outlets with 2 USB Charging Ports
The eight-outlet surge protector accommodates larger adapter blocks for all-around power protection. The 6-foot electrical cord rotates 180 degrees for flexible positioning. It was difficult to get the power cords plugged all the way in other than that I have no complaints.

The USB ports are essential
We've started placing these in our guest cabins. It serves two purposes - protects equipment against the frequent surges here in the country, and gives our guests a way to plug in their USB devices without a converter. They tend to leave their converters for us to ship them back, and this surge protector has reduced the problem greatly.

I've been using this for months now! I use it in an outdoor weather tight power enclosure. How do I rate this? I live in Central Florida and installed this in an outdoor weather tight power enclosure to power various electronic chargers. Along came hurricane IRMA: We experienced the center of the eye wall with winds and torrential rain of 120MPH for 2 hours. we had generator power the whole time. I forgot that is was outside in the yard, in the open. This AUKEY Surge Protector and the weather case never missed a beat, or leaked in one drop of water. What more can I say...

A decent budget surge protector
I have been a fan of APC products for over 20 years. As a matter of fact, I refuse to buy any product produced by their competition. I have yet to have any of the numerous products fail on me and their solid reputation in the industry gives me a sense of security. Overall, I like the 8 sockets, 2 USB 2160 joules surge protector that I have recently become the owner of for several reasons. Overall, this is a decent budget unit. The 3 outlets that are turned 90 degrees from the other 5 are spaced ideally for those “wall wart” transformer unit plugs that have become increasingly common as manufactures attempt to slim their electronics by removing the power supply outside of the main case. The 6-foot power cord allows me to place my electronics in the room where I wish instead of close to an outlet, however, I can see this also being a negative if you happen to use the surge protector close to an outlet and need to do something with the extra cable. Finally, I would like to compliment the design team on the packaging. It catches your attention and shows you exactly what you are getting. The two plugs for USB devices, while a nice bell and whistle, seems to me to serve very limited real practical usage. I tend to drop my surge protectors on the floor behind furniture to conceal it from view. I would either have to permanently run dome USB cables to this unit or crawl around on my hands and knees to plug things in each time I want to use it. Although the surge protector is decent looking, I don’t see me ever wanting to have it up on a counter however everyone had their own placement strategies and I guess having the two outlets and not using them is better than not having them and needing them. There were some negatives as there are with all products. First, the product only comes with $150,000 warranty where other APC product on display in the same shop and rack had a $300,000. This caused me to wonder why the engineers seemed to have less confidence in this product over the others. The second negative was the layout of 5 of the plugs. As mentioned above, I am seeing more and more “wall wart” style plugs If you had a collection of these plugged into this unit, the most if could accommodate would be 5 plugs. This seems like a waste of 3 outlets unnecessarily. All that APC would need to do to correct this issue would be to rotate the plugs 90 degrees as they have done on other units. Finally, I would like to see future versions of this surge protector designed with child protective covers that you find on some other APC units.
