Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot Garbage Less than 2 years old and APC BRICKED THEM. Cannot use the smart feature any longer and has no app to manage them. Contact customer service and 30 minutes later the ding dong tells me it's been discontinued. I started the conversation with that! No way to upgrade as they don't make them and just a sorry for taking your money from the company. APC does not care about customers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice value compared to similar products This product is full featured for a standard Surge protector and offers the USB ports on top which is convenient if this is placed in the proper spot within your desk setup. A good product that can protect your desktop equipment and offer additional ports for other uses when needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is one VERY cool device This smart device is very cool. First, all your connected devices are protected because it’s a surge suppressor. However, this suppressor is smart. You can connect up to 3 devices in the smart outlets (which can be renamed). Example: I renamed Outlet 1 to Light and Outlet 2 to TV and Outlet 3 to Radio. Then after setting up the app on my phone and the skill on my Alexa I could turn on/off any or all my smart outlets & USB ports using voice commands or my phone. You can also do the same for either of the 2 USB banks (4 USB ports total) This device exceeded what I thought a smart surge suppressor could do. This can definitely help bring a dumb home into the 21st century. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THIS IS ONE SLICK POWER SURGE STRIP OK THIS IS JUST WAY COOL.... SUPER SUPER SUPER EASY TO USE AND SET UP WAS DONE IN LESS THAT 5 MINS WITH THE APP!!!!! THANK YOU APC!!!! THIS ALSO HELPED ME ELIMINATE ONE OF MY SMART PLUGS SINCE WELL THERE ARE THREE ON THIS UNIT!!! FULLY INTEGRATED INTO MY HUB AS WELL. LIGHTS ARE NICE FOR VISUAL AND JUST EASY AS CAKE!!!!

From the usb ports to the 6 surge protected outlets this unit has all of the ports that one could need in a small portable power strip. Power strips often do not have USB ports and yet these ports will help me to keep outlets open for other things that cell phone chargers. This is useful, handy, and actually insightful for end user needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive features and practical as well! I received this surge arrester a few weeks ago, and at first was wondering what would be a good application for it. Then I realized that I often have to power down my home networking equipment to reset it or resolve an issue. Normally, this requires that I go to the wiring closet, and manually unplug each piece of equipment, wait for about 10 seconds, then plug it in again. With this, all I have to do is go to the phone app, tell it what to do, and its easily done. The two handy switched USB charging ports are now a substitute for USB-type power supplies that were cluttering up the wiring closet. I kept my WiFi switch on a surge-only outlet, as it rarely has a problem. Now I can easily recycle power on my firewall, my lighting control hubs, the cable modem, and the network switches with a touch of a finger from anywhere in the country or at home. Super convenient and easy to set up and use. Two thumbs up!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Idea What sets this unit apart from others is the fact that you are only using 1 outlet which controls 3 units. A lot of the products on the market require you to plug in 1 unit for each thing you want hooked up; which uses up a lot of your outlets; sometimes so large that they block the other outlet; plus you are getting surge protection with this unit .Now everyone wants to know the negative . Well; you might have to use some extension cords to get your desired results. The app worked fine even though I did have to sign in a second time but is working good now. Despite some negative rewiews about the timer feature; I have it up and running fine; yes it works if you work it correctly. With this unit you are not only getting sugre protection on everything plugged in but but the ability to control 3 things in your house from remote. Why is this important to me:. I am a flight attendant and away from home a lot and like to be able to check in wia my camera( which I call my kitty cam and turn my lights on a and off .With this unit and a couple of extension cords; you can cover a whole room with no problem; plus the price is resonable considering you might have to buy 3 units of another product to do what this does

The ease of set-up with my Alexa was surprising as many devices are quite hard to connect to the net. The "smart" feature of the surge protector greatly expands its usefulness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient for killing power sapping devices Had this for 2 months now. When I first set it up it worked great. Now there is a huge lag (like 5+ minutes when controlling devices. Nothing has changed on my wireless connectivity. All other devices in the house operate fine including other WiFi connected smart devices. Tried hard reset and setup again with no luck, maybe they had a bad FW update. Not sure in the end how much power it helps you save since it uses power all the time. Probably still better than leaving a computer, Xbox and Wii plugged in all the time waiting to be turned on. There's also a low hissing sound emitting from the device when it's on, which would have something to do with power protection feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scheduling is completely unreliable I have a number of smart plugs and lights from different manufacturers (Kasa, TP-Link, Amazon, Sengled) but this is the only one that does not reliably reflect the current state (on or off) nor reliably works on a schedule. I have lights that I turn on for indoor house plants, and I've found that in order to get the lights to turn on mostly reliably, I have to set the APC outlet to turn on at 7:00, 7:01, and 7:02 every day. Even then, sometimes after 3 scheduled tries, the lights don't always turn on. I have never had this kind of issue with a smart device before. The worst thing is, sometimes the app (both the APC Home app and my Alexa app) will report that the plug is "on" when it clearly is not. I have to turn the plugs off in the app, then back on again MANUALLY for the plug to correctly show state. This is the opposite of smart. I've been using APC for battery backup for years. I expect much better from APC products. So disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My first smart surge protector I have been a loyal APC customer for as long as I can remember and have always purchased their UPS battery backups and surge protectors exclusively. I currently own 5 or their battery backups and a dozen APC surge protectors. APC products have been reliable for me and the odd time I have contacted customer service, their response has been stellar. This is my first smart surge protector but not my first Alexa controlled outlet. I was impressed that this unit has built in WIFI that does not require a hub, quite different from my other smart outlets. Setup was straightforward but does require reading the instructions, a first for me on a surge protector. Setting up the unit required me to first download the APC Home app and then set up an account, which was quick and relatively straightforward. Setting up schedules for several devices and routines was a breeze. Also, to utilize voice control, you will need to log into your Amazon Alexa account as you would with any other of your smart devices. The unit has a total of 6 AC outlets and 4 UBS. Of those, 3 AC outlets are smart as are 2 of the UBS. I was able to remotely control devices away from home via the APC Home app. I was told things did turn off and on by someone in the house. Be warned though that you should only do this after informing your mate of the plan to do so. The surprise lamp on and then off thing caused a little temper to show. This unit comes backed by a lifetime warranty and a $150,000 connected-equipment replacement policy. Well, I can honestly say that I will never have that high a value of equipment plugged into this unit, but it is great knowing what is plugged into it is more than covered. Somehow, this gives me a sense of security. This item looks like a power bar, but rectangular and fat instead of long and skinny. There isn’t really a lot I can gush about on cosmetics as there are only so many ways to pretty up a surge protector however, like most, I prefer to keep mine out of sight anyways and this is easy to do with its 6’foot cable to plug into an outlet. All in all, it you are considering purchasing this smart surge protector, I strongly endorse it with a 5-star rating. This is another win for APC and for their customers.

The included instructions were very helpful and it was very easy to configure with Alexa. Everything I connected worked as expected on the first try. If you have devices you want to control with Alexa I would highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not connect to WiFi. Just bought as part of a bundle with a UPS. Every time I try to connect to WiFi following the directions, it gives an error: connectiontimedout. APC Home app and this site have zero steps for troubleshooting, and zero info about the device's limitations.
