Powerful unit with convenient features
I have several other APC units in the 700-1500 VA capacity range. Recently, the battery on my SU700XLNET died, and rather than replace the battery again, I opted to try out this BR100MS. I like the black color much better than the tan of the old unit.
Wow! The difference is amazing. Newer technology brings a lot of nice features. The LCD display gives vital information about battery, load, and most importantly, estimated runtime. While the old UPS probably gave me longer runtime, this unit still has a 56 minute runtime with the iMac I have connected to it. Plenty for me, as power in my area is pretty reliable. Plus, it weighs less than half that of the 700XL (22 vs. 53 lbs) and is much smaller as well.
Additionally, when connected via USB to the iMac, the Energy Saver preference panel recognized the UPS with no other software. Checking "Show UPS status in the menu bar" and I now see the UPS status with battery % at the top of the screen all the time. Note that you must use the enclosed USB cable, as one end is an ethernet-like connector that plugs into the UPS communication port.
On the back are 10 outlets, 6 of which are battery backup. The other 4 can be used for devices like printers that don't need power during an outage. In fact, laser printers should NOT be connected to battery backup outlets, as they draw too much power and may damage the UPS. I am only using three of the outlets, so this is plenty for my needs.
The only hiccup I've had was when setting up the unit. Every UPS ships with the battery disconnected for safety, and must be connected before using. After removing the UPS from the box, I followed the instruction sticker to connect the battery. At first, I could not slide the side down per the instructions to gain access to the battery compartment. Then I realized the sticker itself was holding the access door in place. Removing the sticker allowed me to proceed well. While connecting the battery, a quick look revealed that replacing the battery should be a very easy process with no tools, unlike my other APC units.
I didn't think I'd like the LCD as much as I do, but its crisp display and simple interface (one button cycles the info displayed) make me want to keep checking all the stats, especially runtime. The display is a soft white (not blue), and shuts off automatically after about 30 seconds after pressing the button.
All in all, I'm very pleased with this UPS. I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5.

Perfect Size and Effective
APC has been the leader in UPS power. The BR 1000VA is very well designed and extremely easy to setup. Knowing which outlets are surge protected and battery back-up up is easy, one side is battery, the other is surge only. Although it is a medium size UPS, it has 10 Outlets which 6 are battery back-up. This is very efficient for todays desktop and laptop users. I use it to power my home model/router and printer along with all the necessary accessories attached to my desktop. Highly recommend this product to anyone looking to protect their computers and home electronic devices. Lightweight and easy to storage. Detailed direction included on how to use the product. Very satisfied!

Features and size
Had for several weeks to replace an older model. I needed one with a data port and this was the least expensive one with that feature. It stands on its side and has a thin profile
as a result. The plug ins are wide enough apart that all the plugs I use fit well.

APC delivers great products at a reasonable price.
I have previuosly owned 6 apc back ups units of various input outputs. This purchase is to replace an older 1000va. The new 1000va ups pro is as advertised. Simple setup and connection. After setting up the unit and testing, all worked as it should. The price point was an added bonus to the unit and features at time of purchase. I always buy apc for the quality and ease of battery replacement.

Solid Product
I have been a customer for a long time and have always loved APC backups. I purchased the BR 1000MS for gaming and a little extra protection. Was very easy to set up with the software. Product is beautiful with the front LCD to let you know what is going on. You can also access this in the software which is handy. Slim so you can tuck it anywhere. Plenty of outlets on the back for systems. This product is solid and I am very happy with it and will enjoy knowing I am protected for many years to come.

APC Quality & Reliability
10+ years of reliable service from previous APC UPS units, led us to choose APC again. These new units give every indication that APC is still making quality products (these UPS models are manufactured in the Philippines.
Omitting one star, as the slim profile of the unit limits effective use of the outlets in some use scenarios. If APC made a wider alternative of the same unit, it would give more flexibility for outlet usage, which would be helpful.
Dell was absolutely outstanding in ordering and fast shipping.

Great unit!
The BR1000 is more than adequate for my home office needs (a router, a desktop PC and a laptop). My devices seldom draw more that 150W combined and the BR1000 will keep them running for over 30 minutes. I tested it by unplugging and the transition to battery power was seamless. I love the fact that the display can be configured to show current wattage drawn, minutes remaining on battery or other desired info. I have had no problems with noise or heat from the unit. Battery is easily replaceable without tools. Configuration of outlets is convenient though buyers should be aware they are all on the back while display is of course on front. My only advice for others is that you might well do with a smaller and lighter unit if you are only protecting a PC and router as I am - nice to have the extra capacity but not essential.

The Best Battery Backup Ever!
I purchase a new battery back up for my computer I’ve been doing business with this company for 10 years every 5 to 7 years I have to buy either a new battery because they were out or just get a whole new system when I called customer service they recommended with the Wi-Fi system and all the things that I had to move up to the next level to the 1000 I’m sure glad I listen to them so 1000 is a lot better than the 700 that delivers more power in a time of need and if you’re online doing business or something you still have some time to wrap up what you’re doing. The customer service personnel that you guys have working for you are top notch scared me in the right direction it was a few complications getting my new back up system with just one phone call it was handled and it was here quit thank you very much I really appreciate this company a PC great product. I highly recommend this company and their products to anybody residential or commercial business thank you for your time

I see little change in this product as compared to my BckUPS Pro 1000 that has been running for over three years with absolutely no problems. I have not had the unit long enough to assess the following previous problem.
The major problem I have will all APC UPS' is the lack of monitor/controlware that would give a much more definitive alert as compared to the 'idiot light' of the older units. This is especially critical for sites, my home office is similar, where computers are in use 24/7 for various reasons.
A major problem here in the Upper Plateau (El Paso, Tx northward through New Mexico) is the micro fine dust that permeates the region that at times (winds over 20mph) can reduce visibility considerably and the higher the winds the greater the reduction and intrusion into all homes irregardless of their 'tightness'.
I have been using APC products since 2001 when I built my own home office inside my just purchased house. However, following an upgrade to your website, all my previous purchases disappeared so there is no way any more to check my purchase history.
I would have to have a lot more information, both of your product and my friends needs before I would recommend any product. However, at the present time, APC seems to have the best UPS' on the market.

Great product, exceptional customer service
First impressions – On opening the box, the first thing I noticed was that all packaging is recyclable, bonus points in my book. Taped to the product was a printout of the quality assurance test done at time of manufacture, also impressive. Included are a 3 ft coax cable and a 6+ ft communication cable to connect to your Windows computer to run the PowerChute software which is downloaded from the website.
The UPS power plug is a 45 degree offset so that you can plug it into a regular wall outlet without blocking the other socket; this is extremely useful and seems to be a standard for APC. The cable is 6 ft so is a convenient length. To hook up the battery one of the side panels easily slides down to show two straps used to pull up the battery to plug in the remaining connector. Both features are much easier to use than a previous APC UPS I relied on for many years. There are 6 UPS plus surge outlets, 1 with adapter spacing, and 4 surge only outlets, one with adapter spacing. Ventilation grids are along the top and bottom of both sides. Dimensions are 14” l x 10” h x 4” w so can fit under a large desk but might interfere with your legs.
On connecting the battery and power plug and starting the unit, it goes into a self-test, checking power, battery connection and charge, and load on the system. There is a button to cycle through the displays of input and output voltage, charge, time left on battery, etc. There is also a button to mute the alarm, as well as a software setting to mute by time of day. Conveniently, I had a thunderstorm a few days after plugging my system in. I heard some clicking as the UPS presumably dealt with a slight fluctuation in power, but not enough to record an event. All in all, I’d say this is an excellent product based on my history of using UPS units for about 20 years.
Finally, customer service. It turned out that the product I got originally had a bad battery or connector. I left a message after hours on the website that I had a product problem and first thing the next morning I was contacted by Rebeca in tech support. The initial email had several tests for me to do which I attempted with varying results over a couple of days. As soon as I let her know I hadn’t managed to get any of them to work, she arranged to ship a replacement and send me a label to return the bad item. The service was prompt, professional, and cordial and I would expect that any issues that occur with their products would be handled in the same way. Having good support is as important as having a good product in my opinion and they get five stars from me.

solid hardware for serious equipment
We have regular thunderstorms that have, in the past fried electronics even without being a direct hit. This UPS has the capacity for both my desktops and my NAS – that is online 24/7. In the two weeks since it was installed, we have had 2 storms, one involving a brief lights-out. No effect on the electronics. Also, we have had a more stable cable Internet connection since using the built-in coax surge connection. For the copper ethernet I have it connected to a 70’ run to the front room to protect against near strikes.
The front panel is compact and packed with information. Unfortunately, it is the best information. The APC server/workstation software is not straightforward to get and had limited application. I would suggest opening the interface to selected developers to reach more OS and devices.
Overall it is a solid piece of protection that is very simple to setup. Be aware that there is a hum with something that handles this much VA. But under the desk it won’t be noticeable.

Decent, you will need the warranty
Without the 3 year warranty, this product would be trash. Make sure you check the manufacture date to make sure you're getting a recent unit, as the warranty is *3 years from the production date* not *3 years from time of purchase*.
I set up several friends with this unit and each of them has had at least 1 warranty replacement due to faults. APC has been very good about warranty repairs, though.
The plug orientation is unfortunate if many of your devices have traditional horizontal power adapters at the outlet plug.
I'll still recommend this product as it's in the "this is a bad product... except for all the others (in a similar price category)"

easy to use, great product
I had APC for many years . I still own a BK650MC that only requires a battery replacement ever 4 or 5 years.
Bought this one to have some of my electronics protected due to more power issues lately and so far is working trouble free.
The software (personal Chute provided free by APC, is also great (older versions didn't have that option) cause it gives you status and reports , and allow you to manage some of the settings from your PC.
I already had one power failure and the PC , printer and monitors attached to this UPS didn't even flicker. Further more I have also a desk lamp hooked to this UPS as emergency light if the power goes out and everything stayed one without any issues. I definitely recommend APC. very trustable brand.

Great, as always
I have bought at least three different UPSs, and they have been excellent every time. The website does a great job of helping you to choose a UPS that meets your needs. I have bought two for servers, and one for an individual workstation. If you go with the default setup (which always seems to work great), it is super easy to use. I live in a rural area where power quality is variable, and with frequent 30 second outages, flickers, etc. I have no doubt that these UPSs have extended the life of my equipment.

I bought it three weeks ago. The package arrived as scheduled. The instructions for installation are fairly clear and easy to follow. The UPS has been working well.
One improvement the seller can make is to clearly state on the website that the shipped UPS includes a battery. I was not certain about it, so I bought a battery separately, which turned out to be redundant.

APC - A Good Choice for Computer Battery Backup Sp
While the number of potentially suitable APC UPS offerings is a bit over whelming, the website is well-organized, so once I narrowed down what I was looking for, I found it quickly. The purchase process was surprisingly smooth, I was felt informed as to the status of my order via email, and the UPS was delivered by UPS right in the estimated date of delivery I was given. (Sorry,
I couldn't help myself with the "the UPS was delivered by UPS".)
I have learned, the hard way over the years to buy a little more UPS than I think I need in terms of surge plus backup outlets, and more battery support runtime than I think I need. Better a little too much than a little too little. APC has served me well since I purchased my first computer in 1992. I endorse the APC / Back-UPS brand.
