Rated 5 out of 5 by from No replacement battery available anywhere!!! So I purchased this APC UPS from Best Buy roughly 3 years ago, and just like my other APC units the battery failed right at the 3 year mark. I've always replaced the battery, recycled the old one, and carried on. However, to my surprise there's literally no replacement battery available. From my research, the replacement is APCRBCV212 but is not available anywhere. Not sure what the issue is specifically with this UPS but it looks like they initially did not have a battery replacement and only started when they started getting terrible reviews from customer complaints like myself. I've always had APC units and currently own two others but this is ridiculous. I just want to replace the battery and not have to buy a completely new UPS. It's sad but APC has lost a customer which I'll likely switch over to Cyberpower instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Claims to support PowerChute monitoring bu cannot While the UPS functions of this unit do perform to the advertised standards and replacement batteries are available, there is no serial or USB port for monitor. This is counter to the claim that their PowerChute serial v1.2 will work with this model. As yet, after about a year, I have not figured out how to get this unit monitored. I don't think it is possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to any workspace Before even opening the box, I could tell this was a durable item. It has some weight to it! It was super easy to set up, just plug in the battery connector. I live in an area with constant power outages and now I can stop worrying about frying my computer, or losing my CAD designs! It has ample outlets, enough for your tower, screen, internet router and printer (with outlets to spare!) Great buy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable Backup Power with Plenty of Outlets I got this APC Back-UPS 900VA to protect my home office setup, and it’s been great so far. Setup was easy, and I like that it can be mounted on the wall to save space. It has 9 outlets, which is more than enough for my computer, monitor, and router. The 6 battery backup outlets give me peace of mind during power outages, and the USB port is handy for charging my phone. It’s quiet, reliable, and the 2-year warranty is a nice bonus. I feel much better knowing my devices are protected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everyone needs this! I received this product for free from Influenster and APC in exchange for my honest review. This gives us peace of mind for our important electronics. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient device. This is a convenient unit to have around. It adds multiple outlets where you need and it's mountable on the wall if needed. The only complaint is the USB ports that charge quite slower than charging through a direct outlet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great to have as back up So easy to use. But it requires a minimum of 24 hours to charge. So remember that before storing it for back up. I love that it offers 5 hours usage. That’s perfect amount of time you need incase power goes out. Definitely lets you charge your phones and other devices. Definitely recommend to have for emergency .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable and efficient power backup with plenty of I’ve been using the APC Back UPS 900VA/480W for several months now and it’s been incredibly reliable. It provides consistent power backup for my computer and other essential electronics, and I’ve experienced zero issues during short power outages. I love that it has 9 NEMA outlets and a USB Type A port, which makes it easy to charge and protect multiple devices. Setup was straightforward, and it’s compact enough to mount on the wall or keep on the floor without taking up much space. Overall, the durability and performance have exceeded my expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ok Great concept, but overall wouldn't last long enough to even charge a cell phone. Most benefit comes from protecting from a power surge or gives you a bit of time to get things situated in a power failure. Not sure I would spend money on this. I received this product free in exchange for my honest review from Influenster.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product overall. This 9 outlet APC Back- UPS is ideal for many sensitive electronic pieces of equipment. Makes you feel at ease with the surge protection within and knowing you have an immediate power reserve to shut down expensive equipment when a power failure occurs. I have this unit hooked up to my Entertainment Center, which is about half the size of the unit I'm replacing, with about the same battery life. My old unit had only 8 plugs, I like the additional plug, since your always running out of plugs it seems. Just like previous APC products I've used, this has a power fault indicator, but the placement makes it less easy to check, my old unit had the light on the top, where as the new one has it on the side where the power cord is, making it hidden near the wall. Otherwise it is a great replacement unit, that I would strongly recommend. Very efficient product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable Power Backup for Home and Office Use The APC Back-UPS 900VA is a solid choice for anyone looking to protect their electronics from power disruptions. Whether you’re working from home, gaming, or simply trying to keep your internet running during an outage, this unit offers a dependable backup solution. With a 900VA (480W) capacity, this UPS can keep essential devices like routers, computers, and gaming consoles running for a short period during power outages—enough time to save work or safely shut down equipment. While the 2-minute runtime at full load may not be enough for extended blackouts, it’s sufficient for quick interruptions. The six battery-backed outlets ensure your most critical devices stay powered, while the additional three surge-only outlets provide extra protection for less essential gear. The floor/wall-mountable design gives flexibility in placement, whether you need it under a desk or mounted out of the way. The unit is compact yet sturdy, and setup is straightforward. The inclusion of a USB charging port is a nice touch, allowing you to keep a phone or tablet charged during an outage without taking up an extra outlet. With a 490-joule surge energy rating, it offers decent protection against power spikes. While not the highest rating available, it’s more than enough for home or small office setups. The fact that it has a user-replaceable battery means you can extend its life rather than replacing the entire unit when the battery wears out. Overall, this APC Back-UPS is a great investment for keeping your essential electronics protected and running during short outages. It won’t keep everything powered for hours, but it provides peace of mind by preventing sudden shutdowns and data loss. If you need a reliable backup power solution for everyday use, this is a solid pick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great thing to purchase I have this plugged in right by my entertainment stand. So wifi router, Xbox, PlayStation, camera, tv and controller charger is all plugged up in here. It's big and works well for everything. Plenty of space for it all. The last extension cord didn't have enough space for all to be plugged in. It has not overheated or cut out once.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile, reliable, peace of mind This product is a must-have for anyone who needs to ensure the continued reliability of their electronics during a power outage. It is high quality, durable, and user-friendly. Compatible with all plug types, it’s an efficient way to keep your computer data safe and provide seamless service through an outage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No computer communication for alerts Comes with no USB-B cable to connect the UPS to my Mac/PC to help power down the computer. I understand that some people could care less about this, but I do - and it was a given in previous models. Returning to Best Buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from junk Replacing a older Belkin unit. Went to hook it up, noticed no battery door. User guide says replace batt. every 5 years. Went to web site---battery not user replaceable. Called support. Person I talked to said " I don't know". Took it back for a refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Battery Not Serviceable - WHY? (BVN900M1) I have used APC products for over 25 years. Why would APC make the battery not user replaceable? I have purchased new units as I have needed more capacity, but I have managed older units with battery replacements for many years as well. This really makes so little sense. So not every time I look to buy a new unit I have to stop and go look up the manual to see if I can replace the battery. Sad. Frustrating. Disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Changed the design and ruined it I have had several of these for a very long time and been mostly satisfied. I scooped up this model because it was on a pretty good sale and now I know why. The battery has become completely NOT user replaceable and must be brought “somewhere” to be changed. Where? Who knows. It will undoubtedly cost money. It is the exact same kind of battery so there is no real reason to make the battery not user replaceable. Most people could probably figure it out but OF COURSE that then invalidates the warranty. And APC rebuttals with- that information is in the manual. Why would someone go out of their way to read a manual that they don’t even have yet for a product they think is so much similar to the other products they’ve been using? Also they did away with being able to hook this up to the computer and use the Powerchute software to either force someone to buy a more expensive model or to force them to have to buy more products. Either way, this is bad. It’s too late for me to return but I will be buying the competitor’s products from now on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hopefully my track record with APC continues Not too thrilled reading all these horrible reviews. For me at home, just me, I've had a great track record. I have two APC UPSs. The one that died yesterday ($59) and got set up today was bought in 2013. 10 years doesn't seem at all unreasonable. My other one was bought in 2017 for $100. I'll be thrilled if it lasts 10 years, too. Replacement battery isn't an issue for me. Easier for me to buy a new one I feel guilty about that because it's wasteful. Maybe I'll buy the replacement battery for my new one to have it ready but HOW LONG DOES IT LAST? When an UPS dies, I'm completely out of business and would not want to order and then wait for delivery of a replacement battery. My UPS died Sunday. I bought this new one at Staples (open Sunday) and got my handyman to set it up Monday. This works for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Done with APC APC you got greedy! None user serviceable battery? Planned obsolescence. Well guess what, CyberPower is now the brand my company uses. You lost a customer over greed, Bravo to whoever on your team thought up this brilliant idea.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from pointless No usb management port for a clean shutdown, no ability for user to replace batteries themselves. So when the power goes out for extend time or after hours your systems will hard crash.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Confusing Information on Battery Replacement I have just purchased a second of the BVN900M1 and did not realize the Battery is not user replaceable. The APC website information on this UPS shows an option for a RBC17 battery replacement battery, but on page 9 of the units manual has this note "The battery in the Back-UPS is not user-replaceable. Contact SEIT Technical Support for a list of authorized service centers near you. I have used APC units for work and personal use for 30+ years and this is the first time I am disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Battery not user-replaceable; no management port I have been running a similar BN650M1 for about 2 years, during which it has demonstrated itself to work well. I then purchased this BVN900M1 thinking it would simply be a higher-capacity variant of my BN650M1. I was quite wrong. On this newer BVN900M1, APC decided to make the battery no longer user-replaceable, requiring disassembly of the unit rather than making it accessible via a sliding door like every single other UPS model I've seen. I'm sure some percentage of their customer base is capable of replacing the battery anyway, but for everyone else, this is a prime example of planned obsolescence, since lead-acid batteries inherently have short lifespans of only 3-5 years. This is unacceptable and irresponsible to both customers and the environment. In addition, APC removed the USB management port, which has always been a key feature of any UPS, enabling automatic shutdown of attached computers and logging of utility power interruptions. APC had been a trusted brand for feature-competitive power protection in homes, offices, and data centers, until now. I will likely return this unit, and even if I do not, my future UPS purchases will be from competitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Below standard Returned the day I bought it at Staples. No replaceable battery is something that should be on the box exterior. It is not. No software was a surprise, and after 20+ years of consistently buying APC as my PC's demanded more power, I had expected better. The "on sale" at Staples caught my eye, and nothing in the box indicated the lack of a replaceable battery. Buyer beware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Battery not replaceable They don't tell you anywhere on the box that the battery is not replaceable. Customer service posted that there is now a battery model you can replace with - APCRBCV212 but when you search for the battery on the website its not available for order and you have to try and find some reseller located near you. Ridiculous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stay away Wish I would have read other reviews. No replaceable battery and mine died a few months after use. Not clear that battery is not replaceable. Link on this website shows that RBC17 is battery to replace but not replaceable by user.
