Tripp Lite's APS2448 3-function DC-to-AC inverter with auto line-to-battery transfer and integrated charging system serves as a standalone 48V inverter or an extended run UPS. Supplies up to 2400 watts of continuous 120V AC power from a 48V DC bus or battery set. When optional-use hardwire input AC cable is energized, commercial power passes through to connected equipment and the battery set is recharged via 3 stage, 30 amp charging system. In UPS mode, the APS system responds to blackouts and brownouts with an uninterrupted transfer to battery-derived AC output. Includes a set of high current DC input terminals for simple installation (user supplies DC source and cabling). Reliable large transformer design with efficient PWM sine wave output and frequency control powers resistive electronic loads or large inductive motors, compressors and other items with high current needs on startup. Supports an unlimited amount of runtime with any number of user-supplied batteries connected. Highly adaptable to a variety of applications and site conditions with adjustable charger settings for wet / gel battery types and selectable line to battery power transfer voltages

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flawless performance for 10-15 years, fan is still silent! This unit has been in constant trouble-free service so long I don't remember how long. 10 - 15 years. Very sturdy construction and robust connections (mine is not the UL version). Once a year I vacuum the dust off the fan grille which runs continuously and still runs quietly- remarkable in itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Over 2 years and very reliable. I have two of these units at my house, I have them connected to a large stack gel batteries. They are back up for the freezer and furnace and a few other things. I have them running in UPS mode and so far I have not had a single problem with either unit. I never can tell when they switch over to battery except for the other lights go out. I really like the 48 volt DC version because they only pull 50 amps at full load but the way I have them set up they take about 18 amps DC as a pair when everything is on to keep things working when the power is out, I am lightly loading them. You never know when you might need to add something. They are very easy to set up the dip switches for different modes which I really like as an option. My only complaint, the charge voltage for gel batteries is about 55 Volts, it keeps the batteries really full but shortens their life considerably. I have an external charger running 53.5 volts, I get years out of the batteries and the run time is not noticeably less and I buy fewer batteries. I do recommend having a good ground at the inverter and surge protection on the AC Mains.
