Sophos AP55C - wireless access point is rated 4.50 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Small Business AP We are using this AP paired with a Sophos SG 105 UTM Appliance for a small business office with roughly 10 users/15 devices. Pairing and configuration of the AP through the UTM Web Interface was a breeze, and it has been effortless to configure, maintain, and monitor a handful of different SSID's with different policies and rules for different areas/groups of the business. Speed, range, connectivity have all been excellent, using a single AP covers our entire 2 floor ~2000sqft office space handily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good AP tha could have been great The Sophos AP55C is a good AP. Right out of the box you can tell it is built very well. It is a bit bigger than I expected in over all size as well as thickness, but not too much that it made the size an issue. Mounting system is very clean and solid. Works well as ceiling or wall mount and definitely holds the AP securely in place. Setup was quick and easy. Registered AP's with UTM, assigned wireless networks and after the units updated their firmware and rebooted. Both were up and running as they should. Two area's in which I was disappointed in these AP's is the 5Ghz range and the lack of AP steering option. The 5Ghz band's range was a bit of a let down, while it is good enough to function for our requirements. It stills falls short of some other comparable AP's from other Vendors. Even after tweaking the power and channel settings, it just doesn't perform as good as it should. Also the lack of AP steering is loss to me, especially since these are also positioned as mesh AP's. This is common setting other comparable AP's have by default and is almost requirement when using multiple AP's in a single location these days. All in all the AP55C is a good solid AP that is quick to install, easy to deploy and all around a good performer. Hopefully through future firmware updates, the 5Ghz band's range can be increased as well as adding more common modern management features which then would make this a great AP solution.
