You hear about the performance and reliability all the time, but words cannot express just how good these devices are. I've had the same drive for 3 years now, and it MUST be how efficient it runs, because I've ran through 2 different SSDs during that time, and on top of that... The speed is still exactly as advertised. 7GBs/s read and write speeds are a perfect throughput and I am fixing to get the new 9100 soon! I only wish that I had bought a bigger storage than just 1 TB.

I have been playing high graphic games like black ops 6, gta 5, rainbow 6 etc and it works smoothly, even transferring files couldn't get any fast. I'm in love with my upgrade and it's worth every penny.

The samsung magic app has a great interface that is also easy to use and update the 3 NVME SSDs I have, 2 are 1 terabytes and 1 is a 2 terabyte. I got all samsung because they all intergrade so flawlessly since they have the same speed and are the same brand.

I don't shut down my PC very often, I installed gigabyte major system updates every week since I'm also a Windows Insider member and has been using it like thisfor 2 years. Never have one single issue. I have a pcie 4.0 slot which allows it's full potential. My system rarely got slowed down. The Magician software is also the most awesome ssd tool I have ever used.

Never used for heavy reading and writing but I haven’t had any failures or heating issues so far. CrystalDisk says it’s at 95% health so given the age and near daily use I’d say I’m satisfied with the price I paid @ 95USD for 1TB.

I just purchased my wife a new laptop (thanks to the Windows 10 end of life on security updates) and swapped the stock 512mb m.2 for a Samsung 990 Pro 1tb m.2. While the 512mb is 8 times what her old laptop had (64mb eMMC), I decided to max it out. She loves how fast it is and I love how reliable it is.

However, after software updates my data are perfectly fine. This is why I like samsung as they are quick to patch critical issues like this. I move a lot of media files and games across my storage and boy oh boy this is a fast ssd. I have a high speed internet which used to be an issue on my older ones, as the games downloaded too quick but installed slowly. However this ssd has removed that issue completely because of its high speed

Samsung 990 PRO SSD NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen4, M.2 2280 Internal Solid State Hard Drive to upgrade my Asus STRIX SCAR 2022 as the replacement primary (OS) drive. Also a clean Win 11 pro install. And I also doubled my RAM. Im using my 980 PRO SSD 2TB PCIe NVMe Gen 4 Gaming M.2 Internal Solid State Drive (First primary drive upgrade) And utilizing my Shadow drive as a safe place for my hidden files, etc... Once I made all these changes my Laptop is now beyond "up to speed, performance and reliability" compared to MANY 2024/2025 High End Gaming units of the same model laptop. My $4900.00 special factory custom, Asus Strix Scar has a breath of new life and speed. Now, its a new unit all over aagain.Samsung has done it for me again. Im loving getting an additional 3 to 4 years out of my initial investment. Originally I did have to wait 4 months for the factory and XoticPC to build it to my specs, knowing in a couple 2 to 3 years I'd upgrade it heavily one more time. Thanks to Samsung my plan worked flawlessly. And lastly OCing my CPU and high end GPU really put me on top. Again thanks to my Samsung components all is perfect!

It just works, and continues to even after using the heck out of it. I've enabled/disabled full disk encryption as well as formatted it a few times since buying it (both for reasons unrelated to the drive), and it still runs just as fast as when i bought it. I consider it a no-brainer for anyone with an m.2 slot to fill it with an Evo.

Health of the SSDs on February 14, 2023 are 89% and 92%. Firmware update was recently released (not sure if it even works), but the rapid health decline is UNACCEPTABLE. I would avoid Samsung SSDs. Better and more affordable options are available like the SK Hynix Platinum P41.

Built-in diagnostics indicated the drive had both short and long failures on the Drive Self-Test. Attempted to do a a full image restore using Acronis True Image Home which told me the drive was not restorable. Now in warranty process to get another copy of this SSD.

I got it set with another 980pro running in raid 0 so its not event at full speed but event still its super fast. Ive never had problems with it, super easy to install never overheats (i do have a good heatsycn on it). I love it, its my 4th product of this series. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Fast SSD from Samsung. I already have a Samsung 1TB 860 EVO SSD from past over three years and it's working awesome. Hence, I bought the 990 Pro NVMe SSD 1TB model a few weeks back when it went on sale on Samsung's website. I got it as an upgrade in storage for my desktop that came with a 250gb ssd. I mainly use this desktop for editing photos, videos and net browsing, also at times I do play games on it too. The Samsung's Data migration tool was an easy download and install from Samsung's website and I used this to clone the existing 250gb ssd to the new 1TB drive (you will need an external SSD enclosure). Prior to cloning would definitly suggest to move any huge files from the old drive to an external drive to make this cloning process faster. Post cloning, I swapped the old SSD with new 990 PRO and it definitely improved the read/write speed. I also downloaded the Samsung's Magician's software to create the "over provisioning" space and for general monitoring of the SSD's health. Btw, as per the Magician software, it seems this SSD already had the latest firmware installed, so hopefully they took care of the SSDs dying issue. Overall am happy with my purchase, thanks Samsung for a great product.

Was doing great when I first bought it but now the Sequential Write speed has gone from 6500Mb/s to 500Mb/s. The read speed seems unaffected but the write speed drop is ridiculous. I bought two replacements and rebuilt the RAID. 5 months after my 3rd and 4th 990 Pro were purchased, the 3rd drive has failed. Not really sure if I go and buy a FIFTH! drive because it's the easiest solution and helps me avoid downtime rather than doing a complete system rebuild with another brand of NVME. The whole point of my build is high uptime and no data loss. Samsung's 990 Pro does not allow that to happen. Massively disappointing.

Also the Samsung Magician app is very useful. I can optimize and also test the SSD to see if it's in good condition. Overall this product is amazing and a must have if you have a PC or laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had doubts, tried one, now I get a lot more done! I purchased this SSD about 10 months ago. I wanted to see what if any improvements my Intel Core i9 12900KS system would see from what is arguably the best SSD platform available. Also, just what speed improvements I would see in real life while doing my day to day tasks on the PC. Not just the obvious improvements when moving large CAD files and 4k video clips around. I had been using dual high end SATA III drives in RAID 0 as my working drive(s). They were a hold over from my last PC and performed very well for what they were. To say that I needed a hydraulic jack to get my jaw up off the ground would be an accurate statement. What in the world had I been waiting around for? Telling myself that what I had was working just fine. That the expense wasn't worth it for what I was sure would only amount to marginal if any real world improvements. I was so wrong. There was an instantly noticeable uptick in the amount of work I was able to get done each day. Programs I use to render objects and convert video... Let's just say I no longer have the time to go walk the dog while the PC is chugging along. In my use case I would say it's like I have this extra invisible hour that I'm working each day. In reality, it is all from the extra speed the drive has provided me. After my first week I bought 2 more 4tb versions of the same model and I haven't looked back. TLDR: If you do anything on your PC that makes you money or if getting a job done faster than the other employees makes you stand out to your boss then stop thinking about it and make the investment right now. You will thank yourself later, trust me. I know the prices can be high but darn it... these drives are worth every penny to people like me.

Reliable too as I have no problems since 2023. M.2 is compatable with evrything I heard but I keep it in my gaming pc and never take it out. Interface is just file explorer I guess, drag a drop flash drives, upload familly photos from all our phones sometimes. With the demand from ai servers I am surprised they are still selling this tb 7k speeds for 100 dollars. Every other drive on Amazon is way expensive!

Pairing up four of these in RAID 0 on a PCIe Gen5 motherboard, I get 22,000 Read speed, and pretty close to that in write speeds. Random R/W is all over the place, but the thoughtput is still higher than a single drive and has been highly reliable. I think combining four in this configuration may not have been the most cost effecient, at the time, but they are highly efficient drives without stepping into the 9100 Pro at PCIe Gen 5. I have a fifth for my OS and couldn't be happier!

I've had several other very reputable brands, and all of them have failed over time within a couple years. I've only ever had 1 samsung storage device fail, and it was a cheap SD card. I have never had a problem with the 20+ Samsung SSDs I've had. When you need reliability, Samsung is the choice. Bonus: The increased efficiency helps battery life in laptops, and allows more thermal headroom before thermal throttling

I performed my major upgrade ( my system board already has a couple SATA NVMe 4.0 slots (Bus speeds are still the same in the '25/'26 model years) As are the RAM speeds. CPU was an I9. After the RAM upgrade, I knew the SATA drive upgrade for my Windows 11 Pro install should be 2TB vs. 1 TB. So, I moved my Samsung 1TB 980 pro into my secondary NVMe SATA slot. Then I installed my new Samsung 2TB NVMe 990 Pro into SATA slot 2 and installed Windows 11Pro. After upgrading firmware on my drive and system board. I installed all new laptop factory software and drivers. Performed all updates and ensured I upgraded my Samsung Magician. I did the same with my video card (which was still midway in the top if its class) Then ran benchmarks on my laptop and I was actually amazed. I did a test on my new Samsung 990 Pro and was extremely impressed. Overall, my laptop was as if I had gone out and bought a new 2025 High-end gaming machine. Windows 11 pro, my programs, games, office applications, malware programs, high speed internet all start-up and run as if i just bought another 4800.00 gaming laptop. Now, im good for another 3 or 4 years. I couldn't be happier. Thank you Samsung, my future-proof plan worked better than I had predicted...

In reality the speeds are faster in the Gen 5 990 Pro then the 980 Pro Gen 4 but relatively speaking they are very much the same with the 990 having the upgrade but the 980 sti beats the cup petition

My load times are minimal, and in general I'm one of the first people to zone into any instances or raids I play in World of Warcraft. Also I play stellaris, which is notorious for lagging or crashing later in game when autosaving. Its been minimal ever since I flashed the game to this hard drive. 5/5 stars, would absolutely purchase again.

I have so many things that I have to say about this product: first of all, is beyond fast and has the greatest reading right speed of any of the Samsung ssds that I've used for my PS4 or ps5! I learned the hard way that using the Samsung Evo Plus for my PS5 was not a good idea even though it was a slightly better price because it wasn't a purely fourth generation ( or what have you) sSD drive and this caused it to not be able to be used to its full capacity as my 990 pro 4 TB drive that I ended up getting later! The performance , speed and efficiency are beyond what I thought possible and even turned my original OG fatback PlayStation 5 into a much more efficient device because I actually started receiving much better response times and read and write times when it came to utilizing downloaded games and whatnot. The true change came when I upgraded to the PlayStation 5 Pro and upgraded the existing solid state drive on it to the 990 Pro 4 TB drive because that's when the true magic got to show through! Never did I think that Samsung would be where I needed to go when it came to all of these many different types of manufacturers and whatnot when it comes to sSD options for my PlayStation 5. I was just extremely lucky that I also purchased it before all of the memory costs increases because less than 4 months after I purchased it... The cost literally tripled. I'm not exaggerating one single iota of amount, it was about 5% off of being exactly triple the cost that I ended up spending originally. Thankfully i ended up saving the Evo plus that I had for my buddy as a Christmas present because I gave it to him for a 2 TB upgrade for his PlayStation 5 original and he has been nothing but appreciative and happy at his gift and how efficient is PlayStation 5 runs now! The capacity is incredible for all of the above and I don't care what anyone says I will be sticking with Samsung when it comes to all of my SSD needs and soon... All of my phone needs as well.

Sequential read results for the 990 PRO consistently ranged 7,300–7,450 MB/s, while the Crucial P5 Plus averaged 5,000–5,200 MB/s. Write performance showed a similar gap, with the 990 PRO maintaining higher sustained speeds under longer transfer workloads before cache saturation. Random 4K Q1T1 performance and system responsiveness metrics favored the 990 PRO, with noticeably lower latency in OS boot timing, game load sequences, and application launch benchmarks. Sustained throughput during large file transfers (100GB+ mixed data) remained stable on the 990 PRO with minimal degradation, while the Crucial drive showed earlier performance tapering under extended writes. Thermal output remained controlled on both drives with adequate heatsinking, but the 990 PRO maintained more consistent performance under continuous load, indicating stronger efficiency under real-world mixed workloads. It's my most reliable purchase thus far and in the nick of time with this economy.

My only regret was not getting the 4gb module instead of the 2gb.im surprised at how quickly I have filled it up. But it has handles the pressure without a hiccup. With thr price jump that has happened since then, it has become cost prohibitive. Speed and throughout have been great, especially while pushing some intense games

The speed were as stated on there stats.My start up time on my laptop was 3 seconds from the time I clicked on the power button to the desktop screen. Shutdown was just about as fast. Really made for quick install of large programs that took seconds and not minutes. I did install the latest firmware and never had an issue with the drive. I always buy Samsung SSD's for their speed and reliability. Never had one fail me. Thank you Samsung ??

Its no secret that nvme drives arent as endurant as others but ive pushed over 54TB of data through this drive and it still has 100% of its life remaining. Would reccomend.

I purchased this product about two months ago and let me just say, WOW what a diffrence this thing is incredible, flawless design, optimized for speed and has a great program to monitor it all And make swapping everything over (migrating your old o.s. system completely over to this bad boy in a few clicks) super simple install and I couldn't be happier ?? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and hard to beat Great and gets about 4-5000mb/s average cloned my entire 1tb drive on clonezilla in a few min or so maybe 800gb of real data that was also checked and processed by a 12 core cpu but still the limiting factor seems to be the more smaller drives you add the slower they become if you partition them as one especially. Just drop money on this. Found one for 280 4tb. Not fitting in a nice enclosure but great for a sfx build with 2 slots and not 500 bucks lol. Same price as the 9100 2tb and just as good tbh

The Samsung 990 Pro 4TB is simply the best "set it and forget it" NVMe drive you can buy — blindingly fast, rock solid, and with 4TB of space you'll genuinely struggle to fill it. The 4 terabytes is plenty of space for all of my games and files, and is still blazing fast while being almost completely full! My drive temps also stay well within normal range while having a pretty warm running setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing card, I don't see the need for heatsink If I didn't have a 980 as well to compare frequently, this would likely be 5 stars. But I feel that the heatsink is sort if a waste and really doesn't do much. The computer is a bit older and has more firepower in it's hardware because it is for 3d design, so maybe it isn't the heatsink as much as more powerful hardware in a slightly older computer, but on the other side of the coin I definitely feel like it's a once you need heatsink, you need a newer cpu or other hardware or a new computer, and heatsink isnt going to fix that sort of relationship. I still feel that the 980 is top on the market while the 990 is a close second. But if I get another one I don't see a reason for heatsink tbh.

The 990 PRO w/ Heatsink PCLe 4.0 NVMe SSD 2TB is supposed to be compatible with my BRAND NEW DELL Inspiron XPS 17 9730, so I purchased two of these 990 PRO 2TB SSDs. I literally received the computer in the mail. Upgraded the RAM (too easy and no issues) and installed the new 990 Pro drives. It has been nothing but a "Crash Fest" ever sense. Big mistake. Only problems. My computer spends more time down and problems then working. Absolute frustration. The SAMSUNG MAGICIAN Software indicates that it is the latest version, and it indicates that the firmware is the latest, however, the drives are not recognized by the software, along with a host of other issues. I made the big mistake of thinking that all I had to do was purchase, install, download the software, update the firmware and that my computer should be a top performing machine. I had no idea how wrong that would be, and since I am not a systems engineer or professional, I had no idea that it was the drives that were giving me so many problems - the overheating is a big one! Going online to see it others have had a similar issue, and I found that there are many people with the same issues, and they have not been able to fix their systems, or they have to change settings and forego optimal settings on one side just to try to get the computer to recognize the 990 Pro drives. I don't call it compatible when you have to make other changes to the system so get a drive to work. These drives cost enough that if you plug them in, they should work. If you do not have access to someone who is a computer engineer or professional IT, someone who can work on your computer - I would not recommend this product. I purchased these drives when they were relatively new, over a year ago and now I find out that that all my problems are issues with the drives. I am not recommending these drives, and I am questioning any future purchases at this point.

I got it back in December 2024 and it hasn't given me a single issue. I got it with the Heatsink because I already knew it was going to see a lot of use, I play frequently and have a lot of games. Currently sitting at over 80% capacity used and it still performs efficiently. It doesn't throttle or slow down performance, even on long play sessions. Speed and performance have been consistently excellent. On initial setup, the speed test showed just under 6,600MB/s speeds for my PS5. I've been playing games as demanding as cyberpunk or elden ring and they all play as if they were installed internally, no issues whatsoever.
