Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultimate weapon More than fiveteen years with IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads: X61, X230, X250, X1 Carbon 1st Gen... Solid performance and reliability, always. About this machine, only reflective screen is not so perfect

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Sleek! I absolutely love the consistency, durability, and reliability. I will always own a ThinkPad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, feather-weight, powerful. It's done everything I needed . . . and some things I didn't know I'd need. I appreciate the ease of transporting it -- fits into my brief case as easily as a note book . . . and weighs not much more. A great improvement over the Lenovo I've owned since 2011. I've owned it for six weeks -- too early to rate reliability . . . but so far, it's perfect. I do wish it were possible to get these features and weight into a 15" machine . . . that's what I'm accustomed to, and the change in display has taken a bit of adjustment. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Design, very nice, compared with Surface pro 5, Surface can not used for work for long time and very difficult to input text during the travel. so change back to THINKPAD X1C. I started to use THINKPAD from T41, T43,T61,T400, T440,now, again, come back to Thinkpad x1c.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased I've had my 5th Gen Thinkad X1 Carbon (my third ThinkPad) for about 2 months and so far I'm very happy with it. I have the 500GB SSD/16GB RAM configuration with the i7-7500U processor. I removed windows and installed Ubuntu 18.04 as my sole OS, and everything worked essentially out of the box, except for a little trouble-shooting with drivers for the webcam. I use it for (among other things) fairly RAM-intensive data processing, and I definitely recommend this model if you're looking for a high-performance ultralight that will play nice with Ubuntu out of the box. I was annoyed that the website didn't make it clearer that this model doesn't come with the ethernet dongle included (the gen 6 webpage is very clear that it's not included, but the Gen 5 page is pretty vague and it seems early reviewer models _did_ include it). But ultimately that's a small cost compared to the price of the laptop and a small annoyance compared to my overall satisfaction. I also wish the RAM were user-upgradable; this would make it more future-proof, but I appreciate that at least the SSD is user-upgradable. Overall, if I had it to do over again, I'd buy the same laptop with the same options, and I have recommended this model to friends. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent platform for the price Without going into too much details, this is a decent piece of hardware that is extremely lightweight and has the standard specs for a mobile user that does neither code or creative work. It can do email, video conference, powerpoint and excel spreadsheets thanks to the 8gb RAM.Your mileage may vary on the overall feel of the device - it has some degree of flex. I never was a big fan of the fn key on the far left side however. That is the designated spot for the ctrl key, and that is the only reason this got a 3 points on design and 2 for ease of use. Nothing an external keyboard can't fix, but this should never have been a consideration in the first place.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall, a great laptop I've had the laptop a little over two weeks now and found that I really enjoy my work load on it. The keyboard is to die for and at 2 pound, the x1 carbon is barely noticeable in my backpack. I have only two negative criticisms: the fan is very loud for an ultra book, and its exterior picks up grease like nothing I've seen before. That being said, I highly recommend it for college students looking for a powerful, lightweight workstation. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Packed with performance The laptop is light weight and sleek. The simplest of all designs survives the test of time. ThinkPad laptops are an example. The amount of processing power and memory on this device makes this worth every penny. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
