Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing DMM I bought the 87V for school and work use. Its the best meter, the Fluke 87V does everything, it's very accurate and precise. I've had it for a while and it hasn't failed me at all. Very good meter I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a dependable accurate meter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great service life and support at the end of life I have had my Model87 III for over fifteen years and I bought it used. It always was reliable and very tough. So when I began having issues with the unit reading correctly I had my tool dealer send it in for repairs. Fluke wasted very little time responding with an unavailability of parts to fix that model and offered my the latest version for an amazing price and shipped my new to me. It performs just as expected and it will for many years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good meter, bad support Its a good meter, when the display went bad i contacted fluke to have it repaired, I was bluntly told that my version was too old and they didn't support it any longer but they offered to sell me a new one. The older meters are the ones that need support, not the newer ones. At their price point they should do better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Multimeter! I picked up this multimeter a few months ago for doing some electrical work around my house, in my RV, and on my truck. So far, it was worked great! The body is a durable plastic, the screen is large and easy to read, and it has a ton of different functions. I am still learning how to use many of the different functions, but this has still proven to be a valuable tool to have in my toolbox!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Meter! Would have liked different leads The 87V is well known to be a rock solid meter. This has definitely been the case for me. No problems whatsoever with the meter. I mainly deal with circuit-level electronics so it is an annoyance that the current ranges default to AC current, but that is a minor complaint. It would be awesome if somehow this was user-configurable. My meter came with the extra-insulated leads but without the removable caps. I think they ship with removable caps now, but I could be mistaken. Fluke also sells leads with a retractable insulation. At the least, I would have preferred to receive the version with removable caps with the meter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The goto handheld for troubleshooting wiring Initially started using these in the military while working Avionics on Fixed and Rotary wing aircraft. Fell in love with them back then and have continued to use to this day. Currently these are used by our service personnel and engineers in the lab. This is a good meter to own and put in the tool box. I continue to use mine at home along with a newer one at work. I am happy with both.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable and dependable I purchase DVM equipment for my department techs, and the 87-V is our go-to meter. It holds up to day to day demands in the field. And is dependable. Annual calibrations rarely reveal any issues too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from #1 Meeter I purchased the Fluke 87V about a year ago and it has never let me down. I work with a lot of technicians and my Fluke out preforms so of the other name brand units that are just to slow for I like to see. Others have Snap on and Mac branded units that they paid more for and still have issues with Hertz and the rate of change is way to slow when checking just basic voltage. I also own an 87 version one, that still works, it was clicking for a little, that's the reason why I got the new version 5, but it eventually started working again. I guess it just needed a rest. My 88 as well that the screen started to fade, repiared with just a cleaning of the contacts. I have not found a better meter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Confidence in this meter I have used the 87 series meter for the last 20 years I have worked as an industrial electrician and have confidence in it giving consistent readings. I have used other brands but the quality of their manufacture has always brought me back to Fluke.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior Quality. Just received my Fluke 87v in the mail. The unit was supplied with a basic lead set with protective caps for Cat IV testing per IEC 61010-031k requirements. As compared to my Snap-on and Klein meters this Fluke is superior in quailty of build and function. I haven’t had it long enough to put it through all its paces, so I cannot comment on some of the other issues that other reviewers have posted. I have read on other online forums that Fluke sometimes charges a hefty fee for repairs even with the lifetime warranty. So only time will tell if my purchase was a complete success, however so far, I have no buyer’s remorse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can always trust Fluke. I bought this a couple of years ago and I am glad I did. The quality and durability make it a pleasure to work with. The big thing I like about Fluke is that when I take a reading I don't have to wonder if it is right or not. Their meters have always been trustworthy. And if you drop it , it won't die. Great value!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best meter This meter is built like a tank, and is easy to operate with gloves on. I am not an electrician by trade but somehow always get involved in electrical projects. I have owned other meters in the past that have failed in one way or another. I felt it was time to get a lifelong meter so I purchases the 87V with no regrets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lot to like I bought my Fluke 87V as a backup for those situations where I needed to use two meters at the same time. It has quickly become my primary troubleshooting tool. I like it's accuracy, solid feel and intuitive controls. The only place for improvement is on the leads. They're perfectly functional, but compared with the "same" leads that shipped 3 years ago with my Fluke 289. They're clearly inferior. The silicone insulation is more rigid and there is excessive flashing at the over-molds at the meter end.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality is degrading for the last few years... My copy was produced in 2019 and the quality of external parts(holster, dmm case, knob is not so good as it was before. Screen lens has tiny black specks inside of it(I've checked both sides carefully, they are inside that transparent polymer!). External plastic and rubber parts shows various flashes... And the most "exciting" part is that Fluke support(US and EU) ignores my messages...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fluke - Fluke 87V Industrial Multimeter Not only is this a great product for work, it is an excellent tool and has all the necessary features to learn and obtain degree in electronics. Wouldn't go to work or school without it. I've also bought the accessories for this product and they compliment it well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged and Reliable I had a older Fluke 87 that could no longer be calibrated, so I convinced my boss that it was time for a new one. The Fluke 87 V is every bit as durable and full-featured as my old meter. Plus, it adds temperature measurement and "Hi Res" as a bonus. My company designs audio equipment, so we frequently need to obtain an RMS measurement with a test tone while we measure toasty the power amp is getting. It's a bit pricey, but I definitely got what I payed for!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great DVMs Fluke makes reliable, durable, and dependable DVMs. I still use my Fluke 23 DVM after more than 25 years but purchased the 87V to get: - Back light, for easier to see measurements in a poor lighting conditions. - Larger display digits - Relative measurements: to compare measurements (parts) or cancel out test lead contributions. - Built-in capacitance and temperature reading ability. - Higher diode test voltage - Configurable 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 digit display - Low current measurements (uA) - Low voltage measurement (mV) - Frequency and duty cycle measurements - Min max average measurements - Selectable continuity tone - Built in fuse test - Lead configuration error tone - Optional magnetic DVM holding strap, to free up your hands or work space. - Optional silicon lead and probe kit. The DVM still provides autohold and a related min/max/ave function that helps you monitor a measurement by providing feedback when a new value is detected. Two different response times may used. This feature can also be combined with the high-resistance measurement ability to get a stable reading. A few other features provide bar graph adjustments and input low-pass filtering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliability, Durability and Longevity I have to agree that the 87 is "built like a brick" I bought mine in 1998 and have only had to have it serviced one time due to my on negligence. Still spot on accurate today after all these years. I use the infrared attachment as well as the amp clamp. I also have several other Fluke meters and all demonstrate the same high degree of accuracy and reliability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made well and has a great track record Excellent meter that is replacing a couple different meters that I was using to handle different tasks. Very durable and reliable. Looking for a good deal on one for a while and found it. Made in the USA is a plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Meter I purchased this multimeter for our new lab. We use a metal pegboard to store our tools and the magnetic mount strap came in handy for hanging up the meter in its case. I'm very pleased with the performance and quality of the meter. I like the flexibility of being able to change the probe tips between alligator and standard probes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I feel safer already Simply the best and safest DMM on the market. There is very little that you can't do with this marvel. The premium price that you are paying is for the additional safety features. For a DIY such as myself safety is my top priority. There are cheaper DMM that can do many of the same things as the 87V but as soon as you check the CAT ratings you see why they are cheaper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I use this multimeter daily for troubleshooting electrical issues with automated manufacturing systems. This meter has never let me down and has a bunch of cool features to help you keep control of your probes. It's helped me work through everything from high voltage distribution issues to board level component issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliability My 179 model meter is one of my most used tools. I depend on it every day. When working with someone else and they want to use their cheap non-fluke brand, I tell them no thanks, I'll go get my Fluke. I can trust it every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Durable and perfect replacement for my 87 III I purchased an 87 V as a replacement for my 87 III meter that I've had for 13+ years. Fluke couldn't fix the backlight on it, but everything else still worked 100%. Fluke offered me a trade-in but I couldn't part with a fantastic DMM like that. So, I bought an 87 V and gave my III to a friend that's learning to be an auto technician. I've had my 87 V for over a year now and its working great, and the 87 III is still working as well. I'd buy another without hesitation, but I'd get an additional set of leads for flexibility and the alligator clips too. Those are way too useful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fluke 87-V A Great Instrument As an electronics engineer, I know the importance of good, reliable, and accurate test tools. That is why when it came to my home and personal use, I chose the Fluke 87-V . At an affordable price, it offers the precision and reliability I came to expect from the Fluke instruments that I use at work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great performer–but one nagging issue I bought this meter less than a week ago and found it to be very robust and accurate. However, when switched to DC amps, the meter always reads 0.004 A disconnected from any load, with or without leads attached. In order to get accurate DC current readings, I must zero it out with the REL (delta) button first. Then the readings are spot on with my Fluke 177. This doesn't sound right to me. Shouldn't the 87V read near 0.000 A in DC amps position?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My "Go To" Meter I bought this meter around 5 years ago and it's still going strong. It is used to verify test setups on medical electronics so yearly calibration is required and we have never had an issue, always in calibration and has never required adjustment. Pretty good for a meter that is used everyday and gets knocked around a bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fluke 87-V & Fluke 78 I had a Fluke 78 for years and now have stepped up to the 87-V. Fluke makes rugged instruments that are easy to use. Fluke provides good service too should any repairs be necessary. The Fluke 78 still works great after years of use and I gave it to my son. I will never buy another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from User friendly and built to last! I work in the mechanical trades. I'm also getting into working on automobiles and household electronics. The 87-5 is more multi meter than I'll ever need. But after a recommendation from one of my instructors and countless reviews online I know I've made the right choice. Accuracy is on point and fit and finish are amazing! Looking forward to getting more acquainted with my new Fluke.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Meter, horrible leads I purchased 87V + electricians kit yesterday. The meter works great, but the leads are horrible. The leads have a plastic covering up to two millimeters from the edge of the tips preventing the leads from being able to be inserted into plug receptacles! This must be a marketing decision from Fluke, to ensure greater, forced sales of other leads. Any, and all electricians will require different leads, and this decision by Fluke is unacceptable, especially on the 87v which isn't cheap to begin with, and is their top tier model. I'm returning the meter today. There are many other manufactures to choose from.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best multimeter out there I bought this few years ago just to use for my hobby modifying cars. It had been a wonderful multimeter for me. I used to have an older version of Fluke back in Asia that I had for 20 years, and looks like this 87V is even more robust! It's so user friendly, all the button and knob are logically mark, the display is easy to read, all you ever one in a digital multimeter. The price is high but you got what you pay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good Meter I've had this meter a couple of months now and like this meter. I knew being a Fluke it would of good quality. The reason I got this particular model was it covers all of the standard features in one meter. The main one that I needed was to be able to measure 4-20ma signals. As for me Fluke is the only meter to have. I've still got my first Fluke meter and it still works. It's a Fluke 77 from 1993.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from reliable as heck I have been using this for a few months now since it was purchased. I had another Fluke meter that I had been using for over 20 years until I finally had to replace. I totally expect this one to be as good or better than the last

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great extra functions I wanted a meter that hertz measurement which this satisfied but it also stands up to a lot of industrial wear and tear. The lighted screen is great when inside control panels. Always feel confident and safe when verifying AC or DC voltages/amperage in various applications. I have used this meter inside, outside, rain, and snow. Great meter!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The legendary Fluke 87 I've been using Fluke products for a long time now, all the way back to the original 87 meter. The 87-V still has that original 87 look and feel with greater accuracy, safety, and functionality. The best general purpose DMM on the market in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old Faithful I work in the electric utility sector and we issue these meters to our relay test crews. Every tester/technician carries two Fluke DMM's (87 and 289) and every person prefers their Fluke 87. These meters are simple to use, reliable, and respond quickly (we flash DC circuits to prove electrical paths). I ordered several new meters this year as replacements for our vintage 87's and will be ordering more as we replace older meters. It would be difficult to find a better alternative for this meter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Accurate and Rugged I am an Auto Technician that specializes in automotive electrical systems and computers. I have been doing this for 18 years. I use my Fluke 87V every day. I know that every morning that I go to turn it on, that it will work properly. It is extremely accurate and fast. Due to the speed of the meter, I can check computer networks buy using the min/max feature. Also the min/max feature allows me to check a vehicle for a parasitic draw. It has survived through very harsh environments. I would never think about buying any other brand meter. For me it is always only Fluke!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does It All!!! I've been using this meter for the past 2 years and have never had an issue with operation or calibration. The auto-ranging saves tons of time and keeps the meter safe. The large display is easy to read from a distance or in low light situations. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gold Standard for DMM's I own the 115 and this 87-V and they are both high quality, well-built meters. The 115 is good but the build quality of this meter is unsurpassed IMO. The display contrast of the LCD panel is much better on this meter, which makes it noticeably easier to read. The back lighting is more even as well in the 87-V, and has two brightness levels. Continuity readings for up to the most ohms of any multimeter I've seen. So many nice features like nano-siemens, 1,000 VDC & VAC, max/min for sine wave diagnosis, includes settings for micro volts for electronics, and many neat push button while turning on features you can find on youtube and in internet articles. For the price you know you are getting the best multimeter in the advanced category that hopefully lasts a lifetime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around multi meter. I purchased this meter to use on building automation equipment and it has never let me down. The wide range of features and ability to measure 4-20mA signals helps me to troubleshoot issues without guess work. With Fluke, you know your buying a great quality product. I've dropped it from ceiling level without any internal damage. I would definitely purchase again but with the quality of build, I doubt I'll ever need to buy a new meter again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile, Accurate,& Indestructible I bought the 87V several years ago and have used it many times. It is versatile for most anything I want to do. I am a DIY'er and don't use it professionally but I use quite often in automotive, household, and electronics. The diode function is quite useful for anything from alternator checks to small electronic circuit and component troubleshooting. I've used in the house to check everything from my AC run capacitors in the capacitance mode to the thermostat and temp control in my wife's ovens using the thermometer function. It does everything I've asked it to do and it is extremely durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fluke 87-V, Fluke 78 These are my two primary meters. I had the 78 for several years to use with accessories for carburetor settings, fuel trims, mixture control dwell. Finally upgraded to the 87-V for even more finite measurements from low voltage ckts, to hybrid vehicles. Original slip on lead connectors have been upgraded to structure slip on leads. Very glad to have these tools in my arsenal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Only Brand of meters I trust I started my career in electro mechanical maintenance using a Beckman DMM, but after witnessing a coworker almost lose his life due to having his meter in ohms while measuring a high voltage source and the protection circuit failed, I switched to Fluke. I have used and trusted with my life Fluke meters in my job since 1988, everything from the Fluke 12 , 70, 87II, 287, and I recently purchased my 87V, since my lose of my 87II due to theft. I would recommend Fluke meters to other people with out hesitation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Multimeter for VFD output measurements For voltage and frequency measurements, this meter is fairly accurate. Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Fluke 87V Dead on Arrival Just purchased a new 87V DMM from Fry's Electronics. Tried to turn it on and it is dead. Purchased a new 9V battery and the meter is still dead. So, if you purchase one of these meters I suggest you check it before you leave the store. And of course, it was Fry's last meter. Now I have to wait almost a week to get a replacement. Not to mention I am out almost $5 on a 9V battery I don't need. Fluke- are you checking these expensive meters before you ship them?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Worth The Price I've been using Fluke test equipment on and (much to my chagrin off again for nearly 40 years. They have always been durable, reliable, accurate, and easy to use, and the 87V is no exception. I purchased the 87V to replace an aging 77 that "grew legs" and wandered off earlier this year. (Thinking back, I don't think I've ever had to replace a Fluke meter because it failed on me.) At first, I thought I could manage with a multimeter from another manufacturer. It worked, I suppose, but I missed my old 77 and decided to buy a new 87. I'm glad I did! And I'm looking forward to getting another one in about 30 years or so. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still the One The Fluke 87V meter is solid all around. I've been 30 yrs. in Production Maintenance and International Service. Fluke meters have always been in my tool box, tool kit and tool bag. Reliable and accurate readings made troubleshooting down equipment quicker and easier to get to the root cause of failure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Workhorse The benchmark of the industry. There is very little that I have found can't be done with this meter, aside from power sourcing. Its user friendly and hold up to the environment. The magnetic tether strap is god sent at times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Simple and reliable I work directing people how to test machines remotely over the phone, and I'm always happy when they have a Fluke 87 meter. I can tell them how to use it and I'm confident in the results. The numbers are steady, and we can make decisions based off of the data provided. Competitive equipment seems to be much less reliable and the features just are not there!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old Faithful I have been using Fluke meters from the beginning of my career. Started with my first 87 II in A school for the US Navy. I have used other meters, but never liked any of them more than a Fluke. I now have the 87V and love how versatile it is. I use it at work as an industrial Maintenance Technician, and at home for everything else from automotive to HVAC, and basic electrical circuits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indispensible I bought this to replace an older Fluke 87 that I had for years [until it caught on fire at a jobsite - not of it's own failure though]. I use it every day - every function is easy to navigate, the backlight is crisp when needed, and the tolerance is exactly what I need for my work. I've bought two more [one for my personal use and a spare for the shop] and won't hesitate to get another if I ever have the need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great meter, disappointing leads Just got the meter and it so far the meter itself seems great. Was rather shocked by the leads provided. The cat IV rating is with cheap plastic caps that snap on, we will see how long those last. And the alligator clips just slide on so as soon as I get the first nick in the probe I imagine those will start failing. Was expecting a bit more from a company like Fluke. The meter is awesome so I guess I'll just have to by decent set of leads when these wear out in a few months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Meter I purchased the 87V meter about 9 months ago and it works great, It has become my favorite meter I like it's accuracy and easy to use controls. I've used Fluke products for a while now, and feel very comfortable with any Fluke product. I use it both professionally and also at home for electric, electronics and automotive. I like using the thermometer function so I don't have to remember to carry another device. It is extremely durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value I have been using a Fluke 87 III for almost 5 years. The person that had it before me retired just before I started. I have only had to change the battery once or twice. This meter is built tough, I have dropped it a few times and it keeps working great. I use the meter on 480VAC and under and 24VDC. If they can handle my abuse, I think they could handle almost anything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Metet I had to buy a new 87V as mine was stolen, and its a good meter that you can trust. But I have to agree with another review that gave it poor reviews because of the leads. I have purchased a 117/323 kit a while back and the cheaper meter came with the better leads. Fluke if you hear me, do us all a favor and include you twistguard leads (TL175), your Tpac hanger, and some sort of case. For such a expensive meter you cheap out with the accessories, and really who needs a Thermometer?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent feature rich multimeter I have purchased my first Fluke multimeter in 2016 which is Fluke 87-V and I am really happy with my purchase. This DMM is excellent feature rich and I use its most of the features. I have purchased it for my workbench for my electronics repair work. This multimeter is absolutely accurate and reliable for serious electronics engineers and repair technicians. I have repaired lots of complicated electronics equipments using this DMM. I've found that all over the world reputated industrial electronics repair companies using this 87-V model for their high tech electronics labs and workstations. I have found that diode test voltages of this DMM is very sufficient for all types of IGBT modules or single IGBT, MOSFET and other Transistors and Diode testing. Nanosiemense Conductance function also I use most for checking of components leakage test. And I'm really happy that this function is very useful for checking Diode, Transistors, FET, Mosfet and other semiconductors leakage resistance test. However I didn't find any video on internet for this useful feature but mentioned in user manual of this DMM model. I have found that I can test shorted component in circuit rail with the help of mV scale and external power supply hookup to shorted rail. Other all features and functions are also very accurate and useful as well in this DMM. Hidden features of this DMM also really useful specially 2 REL function where I can easily monitor the offset values of any specific measurement for example; if checking any voltage drifting in higher or lower range (offset value I can simply press relative button and meter display shows 0 and once measurement starts it will show any drifting value positive side or negative side from that values. I use this function in resistance measurement mode also for testing variable resistors like volume or pot for any jumps or intermittent skipping in viper terminal of them. Min/Max/Avg mode also great and accurate also useful for recording measurements over time. All and all this multimeter is awesome and preferable for all of those who are troubleshooting and repairing delicate electronics equipments. I have purchased Fluke 117 and Fluke 325 Clamp meter also after satisfied with Fluke performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Industrial User I work in an industrial environment and this is my go to device for everyday use. It is robust enough to handle the dirty and dusty environment, but accurate enough to handle precise measurements. Took me awhile to step up and buy a quality tool, but once I did, I haven't looked back. Test leads are excellent as well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4 out of 6 Purchased defective Our company purchased 6 of these meters we now have 2 remaining, yes I know operator error would usually be factored into part of the issue except all 4 that were defective had the same issue we sent back two. Fluke replied it would be more expensive to fix than replace we bought these off Grainger for 500+ ea. Defect that occurred with our meters was a LEAD error no amount of dry time cleared these faults.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reg Current Measurement of 87 V DMM We are using 87V model DMM since 2 years , We use to face issue in current measurement , Ex if we inject 10.00A DMM displays as usual. If we inject 10.01. DMM starts to blink but it also displays the 10.01 as reading. My question is in Datasheet for 87V Fluke has mentioned that the DMM will reads 20A current for 30 Sec duration if it so why the 10.01 A starts blinking both in AC & Dc. We tried in other DMM with same model No's.
