Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the sharpest knife in the drawer I purchased this to replace the Canon Powershot A95 that worked great until it didn't. I loved the moveable screen and purchased the G5X because it has a moveable screen. After spending too much time 'setting' up the G5X, I was never able to use the WiFi feature. I'm not sure it is 'operator' lack of experience because the directions are not very user friendly. The camera did not come with a cable to connect to a computer. I have a universal cable from my iPad keyboard and have been using that to transfer my pictures. They transfer fine but if I'm going to have to do things the 'old-fashioned' way, it woulda been nice to have had a cable included with the kit. Oh, speaking of not getting parts, it also did not come with a handy dandy wrist strap. It did come with a nice neck strap that I will never use though. Glad I had not recycled the A95 as I was able to use that strap.I’m not sure what the designer/engineer(s) were thinking when they decided to put the controls so close to the edge of the camera on the right side. While holding the camera (like I learned in grammar school), my hand presses the menu button causing the menu to pop up on the screen while trying to take pictures. This is annoying. The dials are too close together, too small and hard to see. This camera is definitely poorly designed. On top of all that, I have yet to figure out how to use the video feature. Again, it must be operator lack of experience. Thing about that is, I’m pretty experienced with technology. I was able to figure out how to use the Rebel XSI after using an AE-1 Program Canon for years. The battery does not hold power very long either. If you find yourself with the G5X and take lots of pictures, make sure you have a back-up charged and ready to go.The learning curve is too great for this pho-tog. Unfortunately the store did not have a model on the floor for me to play with beforehand. However, I assumed (never assume) it wouldn’t be that hard to use since it favored the A95. I’m disappointed that I cannot return it to the store (14 day return policy). I will give it one more college try. If we can’t become friends I’ll put it on eBay.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as the G9 or G11 I got the G11 when the G9 stopped working. I got the G5 when the G9 stopped working. I was very happy with the G9 and G11. The G5 is not as good. It seem flimsier, especially the battery compartment. The battery runs down quickly, which rarely happened with the G9 and G11. When I download to the computer, it seems to be a smaller data data set than the old ones.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Camera Great, Camera Connect App not so good Though I'm happy with camera, Camera Connect App Software needs help badly...Once you get it to work (Say on an Iphone).... Which takes some doing... and the Easy Connect Software is not that helpful.... It then works fine....... UNTIL....You find yourself having to connect to a different device... In our Case... IPad...Connects, but doesn't display pics... IPhone tested, and it connects and displays...Not IPad... Though it 'sees' the WiFi from camera!!!Eventually Reset Wifi settings in camera (No Nothing works!) and painfully connects to IPad.... Then it works!! But---You guessed it! Now IPhone doesn't work...Needs a firmware and software update to remember more than one device,k OR... a Much Easier way to connect.... It's kind of Painful... Most people will give up....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Canon G5 X is mature photo machine! I had a three choices chosen so far, between Canon G5 X, Panasonic ZS-100 and Olympus OMD E-M10 II. Olympus was too bulky comes with a lens only 3.5 in a short end. Panasonic shoots 4K videos and has a 10x zoom, but my final chose landed on Canon G5X, witch build solid, has a excellent VF with articulating touch screen. This is camera for people who knows how to handle good cameras in a professional manner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Features and Quality I am comparing this camera to two powershots I have had in the past. A G11 and a G15. I still have the G15.Pros: Faster processor. Touch screen articulating rear LCD. Rear LCD turns off when using eye level finder. Eye level finder is also back-lit high resolution LCD. Flash covers the wide angle lens field. Highest f-stops is f11 which I like. Lowest f-stop at f1.8 and f2.0. The A/D converter seems to have larger bit depth compared to G15. Resolution is 20.2Megapixel. Picture quality (subjective comparison) is very good (at f8) compared to my 6D. On camera micro USB connector also works for charging from external source (see more on USB charging in the cons section). USB link to main computer is much faster than my G15. Wireless capability allows remote control of the camera. Aperture has a large number of leaves - almost circular when wide open. In-camera software makes good decisions on scenes. I use manual override for special effects.Cons: Lost stitch-up setting; lost color accent; lost color substitution feature. Needed all those features for product photography. So I'm keeping my G15. Battery is lower capacity and needs frequent charging. Bought a second battery for backup. Tried to charge the camera from my laptop or another 5V adapter and was not successful. Ended up buying Canon wall charger AND CANON USB CORD. I have used the wall charger more often than the stand alone supplied charger. Combination of the two works well when I need to charge both batteries at the end of the day.Wishes: Bring back stitch-up and color accent. Make the battery higher capacity. Design the charging circuit so that any 5V external USB charger will work. Conclusion: This camera is well suited for travel and casual photography. Manual controls work well. The camera feels robust and well built. I like the dial settings which Canon maintained on this model. I use the over/under exposure dial all the time when shooting black and white pictures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE THIS CAMERA I have always had a big camera and was tired of carrying it. I am not a professional photographer and for what I need it absolutely serves the purpose. I think the quality is great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok Camera I bought this canon G5x from HK few months ago. OVERALL I think Canon G5x is ok. I bought it because. I needed a small camera to walk around. So i don't have to carry my old canon 40d dslr. I suggest any G5x users buy the external flash light. The builded in flashlight is too weak for group photos or shooting any objects are more 4 feets away. The video is not bad, but. Only 1080p full hd. Canon should make 4k video standard to all advanced PowerShot G series cameras, EOS M cameras and EOS DSLR cameras. I am still learning how to take selfie portrait. The background is alway out of focus. I also put it on tripod and used self timer to selfie portrait. Ex birthday cake and I. For some reason those birthday photos were out of focus too. Maybe I did something wrong. Anyway this camera is not bad. It still has a lot of improvement to do. Hopefully G5x mark II will correct those problems and has 4k video feature.
