Overcome any async data incompatibility
With the Communications Adapter Plus (CAP), you can make your two mismatched async serial devices communicate by translating between two mutually unintelligible protocols.
Configure the CAP’s two RS-232 ports individually via DIP switches for the greatest conversion flexibility you’ll find anywhere.
The CAP converts word structure (number of data bits, parity, and stop bits), character sets (ASCII, EBCDIC, Baudot, transcode, and ticker tape), and flow control (DTR/CTS, X-ON/X-OFF, ENQ/ACK) bidirectionally between half-and/or full-duplex modes and speeds from 45.5bps to 38.4 kbps. The flow-control buffer is 32KB, enabling even slow machines to talk to fast ones.
Features:
Match any two incompatible async RS-232 devices.
Supports word structure, character set, data rate, and transmission-mode conversions.
Supports hardware or software buffer flow control.
