It's what's on the inside that counts
With five slots and three drive bays — plus space for up to 1.5GB of RAM — the Power Mac G4 is designed for massive expandability. These slots enable you to ratchet up the performance of your Power Mac G4 for such specialized professional capabilities as digital video editing and DVD authoring as well as engineering and scientific applications.
In addition to having features that traditionally required additional slots — like 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet, for example — built in, the Power Mac G4 supports mind-boggling hard disk storage capacities, all the better to store your digital video files. The three 3.5-inch bays give you a wide range of storage options. The Power Mac G4 comes with one ATA drive pre-installed on a ribbon cable that has a connector for a second drive. You can also choose to install SCSI drives in any of the three drive bays, attaching them to a SCSI PCI card with a ribbon cable. In other words, you can have up two ATA drives or three Ultra SCSI hard disk drives — with more than 200 gigabytes of combined internal hard disk storage.
