The AcoustiX Convertible Speakers for desktop computers produce powerful and clear stereo sound. These USB-powered speakers' enclosures magnetically attach to each other, changing from towers into a sound bar to save desk space. Along with a sleek and stylish design, these powerful portable speakers also feature active amplification and magnetic shield to prevent interference from a TV or PC.
  • Wired stereo speakers can be transformed to sound bar form
  • No external power required, so you can enjoy a hassle-free audio experience
  • Features easy-to-use volume controls and an on/off switch to conserve electricity
AcoustiX Speaker System - speakers - for portable use is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, wish they worked with TV The speakers work very well and are very easy to set up and use, though I was under the impression the usb was for data and not for power. Quality seems pretty good and volume is easy to control.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice innovative design These speakers function as both traditional desktop speakers, AND a magnetically connected soundbar. The magnets that allow the speakers to convert to sound-bar mode are not super powerful, but seem strong enough. In sound-bar mode the little feet are poorly designed and the speakers are front heavy and will easily tip forward, but if left alone on a level surface should be OK. In sound-bar mode they are 3" tall and 13" wide, but the drivers are only 6" apart. Sound is not bad for USB powered speakers. There is a volume control on the front of the right speaker, and an on/off switch on the back. A green light on the front indicates the switch is on. The right speaker is where the USB power and the audio input cable are attached. All the wires going into the speakers are permanently attached, so you cannot extend the distance between the speakers. The audio input and USB power cables are both 51" long.In traditional upright mode, I was able to separate the speakers with 45" between them. I first plugged the USB power into my monitor USB port, and I got an annoying 60Hz hum. Without relocating the speakers, when I plugged the USB power into my MacBook Pro the hum went away. I don't know if the monitor generated the hum, or if something else like my old speakers generated it.
