CDW is part of a group of organizations, including Dell Technologies, that worked to bring a Solar Community Hub to Newlands, South Africa. The new solar-powered hub, constructed of two recycled shipping containers, will connect underserved communities with access to technology, enable skill development, and increase community capacity building.
"CDW is pleased to partner with Dell to make this Solar Community Hub a reality for the Newlands area,” said Suzette Carty, Head of Global ESG for CDW. “This project aligns closely with CDW’s belief that everyone should have access to the unlimited possibilities that technology unlocks.”
Dell Technologies has helped to develop Solar Community Hubs around the world for well over a decade. These hubs have reached more than two million students and community members in Brazil, Colombia, Kenya, Mexico, India, Morocco, Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, and additional countries worldwide.
The Dell community hubs help residents to learn about STEM careers and develop critical skills needed to participate in the digital economy. Additional services in the Newlands hub will also provide increased access to economic opportunities and healthcare.
