The sound, especially the base, is perfect. The bluetooth access is making it very easy to use. However, this ease of access is also making it hard to prevent unauthorised access. Anyone with bluetooth can chip in and interrupt the music playing. This design flaw alone can drag down a lot its overall rating...

I have to switch the sub off, then on again & it will play another 30 seconds before it cuts off again. As for the bluetooth, it does not show at all. as if its disable. Can you please advise on this? Thanks, Ravi.

I have now acquired a wireless sound system, that has the quality I have come to expect, and I can now also use it connected wirelessly to my phone, so it is effectively portable. I feel like organising a party so I can use it to play my playlists wherever we have it..

I'm a little confused, though; it's supposed to be wireless, and there are wires connecting virtually every component in the system!

They were a reconditioned set but are absolutely as if new. The sound is excellent and I like not having a wire sticking out of the side of my Dell PC. The quality of sound is at least the equal of the wired set of Dell speakers which I had previously (and I felt the sound from these was of a very high quality. I'd recommend HK and would also recommend their reconditioned stock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Double WoW! I have to say that this equipment not only looks absolutely fantastic but perfoms perfectly. Extremely powerful system complimented by the sub woofer. It is possible to alter the balance between the sub woofer and stereo speakers which provide excellent top end performance. There are no controls to alter the treble and bass but this has not been a problem to my ear. Bluetooth connectivity is superb and is supplemented by a 3.5mm jack plug to allow you to connect other devices. I love it.

I get someone in my building pairing up to my speakers quite often and there is nothing I can do to prevent it. Also, power switch is on the bass speaker (on my floor) which is inconvenient to turn them on/off. Luckily I have a switched outlet and use that to turn them on/off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound and connectivity Saw and, more importantly, heard these at a friend of my daughter's house. Those were the standard wired version. However, I bought the wireless speakers to easily and conveniently connect both my phone and my Akai BT500 turntable. Pairing is a snap, switching devices predictably can be an issue until you get used to it. More down to the fact that to connect the turntable requires a power cycle of the speakers, no big deal and more down to the turntable than the speakers. Pleased with the sound, I'm no audiophile but the depth and both bass and volume control are great allowing fine tuning to suit the track and listening requirements. Although relatively secondary the styling is awesome, bass unit is proudly on display rather than hidden on the floor as suggested. Means that the lead length for the tweeters is better anyway. Build quality is good, both bass unit and tweeters have suitable heft. Highly recommended.

The bass is deep, but not over powering, and the satellite speakers are able to reach high frequencies without distorting. Overall, this was a great purchase.

Loved the look and the sound so much that I bought one of the "wireless" sets when it became available. We use it out on the deck when we are out there. Same beautiful sound and looks, but I can stream music from my iPhone in my pocket, and control the music where ever I am in the back yard. Love this unit.

But recently when i connected my Iphone 7 having bluetooth ver 4.2 , the audio output was not clear and the connection was constantly interrupted , but on the other hand if using the 3.5 mm connection or older bluetooth enabled devices, the output is fine . Does it need any s/w or h/w upgrade . Kindly acknowledge this issue .

My friend has an older system of harmon and cordons that was $600 at the time and we compared. These speakers sound even better. Harmon and Kardon sparkers last a very long time. They look great and look even better next to my iMac. If you are looking for great speakers look no further.

Highly recommended and well worth the price.

This problem is pretty ridiculous. One could argue that using them wireless might solve the problem but no! Still have to hear the sounds injected by unwanted people. Can't wrap my head around this: how can someone sell a product with such a security problem?

However, they are bluetooth (which is wireless by definition, right?). I have the Onyx Studio 5 and am hoping they pair for an even better experience.

The range on them is not great, they hold the connection but the music starts getting choppy if you in another room, even when being near them just blocking them with your body. Not okay by todays standard, but these where released 2012 so you can't really blame them for that. (why Harman Kardon hasn't updated the bluetooth in all these years I don't know, since they still seem to be in production..(?)) Now for the big issue that makes these great and beautiful speakers, that could've been perfect, unreliable and a chore to use! The Bluetooth is not protected via password or has a manually entered pairing mode, in other words, as soon as you turn them on they are in pairing mode (!) which means that anyone in range can connect to them. It's insane how they didn't think of this. This has happened to me, I disconnected from the speakers and went to bed only to be woken up at 6 am by the neighbors kids blasting russian Spongebob Squarepants through my speakers. I turns out that their TV automatically connects to available bluetooth sources and since the Soundsticks always is in pairing mode their tv will always connect whenever a spot is open. Sure, I can spend several minutes spamming the on/off button, hoping to connect to it first. Kinda kills the joy of using them. And the Bluetooth has higher priority than the audio jack, so no luck in that compartment. I've thought about opening them up and desolder the BT-module but haven't got around to it. So if you live in a house, go for it. Great sound and design...

DONT BUY NEVER BUY if you don't live in a rural area. anyone can connect to the Bluetooth and blast music at you and there is no way to restrict or turn off Bluetooth. it scares the hell out of my family at all sorts of hours (like the middle of the night) when someone connects after i forget to turn it off when not in use. it can also play Bluetooth audio and wired at the same time which i thought was great until while using them people connect to the speaker and i hear their music/tv/static. worst part is with no control panel for the Bluetooth once they connect i have to turn them off and hope the stranger connects their media to the proper speakers. if they don't then when i turn them back on it will auto connect to the strangers media again. i called their tech support and they were clueless about the model and after holding for 30 min and talking for another 30 they said they don't know and i would have to email their engineering dept.

Originally I thought I may have a virus on my computer as it would play youtube videos in the background or games being played. After hours and hours of anti virus work there was nothing left other than to scrawl apple forums to see if other people had the same issue. Nothing. Then I found the Q&A's on here and BAM!! I now know this to be the bluetooth issue. I now cannot even use my speakers because the sound is so loud. Im past my warranty and there nothing I can do about it. Pretty annoying to be honest.

It has given me great sound for many, many years. I was hoping for 50 years ... thus the dissapointment. I will be purchasing the new system as soon as this virus thing goes away. I have neighbors connect at random times and force me to turn off it. Also, it goes to sleep mode automatically and you cannot disable that which is also a big letdown. If you are away from your PC and you wait for a notification sound, you are out of luck. Its a shame that software issues make this product unusable. This is probably never going to be fixed and the problem is you do not know that until you buy it and its too late.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sub par Subwoofer Me and my girlfriend purchased this 3 weeks ago and its finally here today! Music is clear but the sub has words coming out? Major mistake not building a crossover in the sub so that it output the best bass quality. Other than that it's a good sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY!!! Owned 4, all fall apart inside! Be warned! Do not buy these. Ever. Over the past years, I've had 4 of these. Yes, 4. And each one of them ended up breaking apart inside and leaving me with a rattled noise that would not allow you to play your music over anything but low volume. Very poor manufacturing and company does not want to admit their manufacturing mistakes, hiding behind a one year warranty. If this is a known issue over many iterations of products, which it clearly is, then they should recall and replace.

Anecdote, I remember my boss having the 1st gen ones in 2003, amazing sound! Now I've got my own studio and would like some for nostalgia :
