Because the HP Store offers specials and sends you coupon codes etc. to save you money. Overall I have saved more money than I would have if I were shopping at other retail stores and online stores.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from XL Better then 920 (regular) Our all-in-one printer came with the 920XL Combo print cartridges and we bought one regular 920 Combo print cartridge replacement. The 920XL seemed like it printed page after page for months whereas the regular 920 printed page after page for maybe 3 weeks. That was the disappointment. I won't make that mistake again!

It asked us to clean the print heads and that did not good. We tried everything but these cartridges must have been sitting on the shelf for years. The printer is so gummed up, had to order a new printer. We spent over $100.00 on cartridges that are no longer any use to us. Stay away from HP "original" cartridges!

The new black cartridge however, would not work in spite of all HP Action Center directions for cleaning and alignment checks. It has now rendered my Officejet 6500 wireless incapable of printing at all, even the formerly working colors. I am totally sad and disappointed.

Lastly, HP guarantees their products. Besides, all the reasons in between are taken care of by the first and last. It's comforting to know that HP takes the worry out of ink cartridges. If you've ever bought a "generic" one you realize what a nightmare that may be. Thank you, HP!

It took a long session with customer service to make it to print. But printing is still coming out faded.

Even if the computer says it's empty, I get a few dozen more pages out of it. Can't do that with a refilled product. I know, I tried it once and barely got half as many pages and a lot of those were messy. Never use anything but Original HP ink...

Easy Squeezie. I would highly recommend this to all. From the ones who are computer savvy, to those of us who are computer challenged. Order with confidence.

My best guess is that I got a little over a ream of output from this cartridge. I did not use 'best' for ink quality on my printer. This is a little disappointing, that the recommended output is barely half met. There are other re-inked cartridges out there, and I just might try them. I have never had any problems with HP printers, its just that there ink cartridges don't live up to the recommended output.

I am not happy with the cost of HP ink cartridges and I will be moving on to another brand for numerous reasons such as cost of ink is too high, out of warranty service is impossible and they way they have monopolized the printer industry has really turned me off. After trying all sorts of procedures with my HP Printer, I finally removed the new cartridge and replace it with another new one and it worked. Before the fix, it was printing black script. I do not know whether it is worth the effort in going through the process in getting my money back. I buy a lot of product online from HP so I might have to start buying again from the Office Stores. At least I can return faulty items to them.

Also my HP Office Jet 6500 doesn't print about half the time. The paper comes through but no printing. Very dissappointed in these products.

I had to remove, shake it, and re-install it several times to get it to start printing again. First time this has happened with any of the HP cartridges I have ordered. Hopefully this is a one-time occurrence.

I like the ability to buy a larger amount of ink in the high yield cartridges. I spent over $50 on new ink only to find out it didn't solve the issue and I can't buy a new printerhead. Waste of time, money, and resources. Hopefully I can give the ink away so it's not wasted.

It's hard to "review" an ink cartridge, but I bought new cartridges in the hope that it would solve a problem with my 11-month-old Officejet 6500A printer. It didn't. The printer suddenly stopped printing black ink. Alignment is fine, everything else works -- I just can't print black ink. Any ideas?

I went to print out 10 more and the color ink was fading and the black ink had lines through it. I looked up all the troubleshooting processes and went through each one, cleaning the hoods repositioning the cartridges. No the black ink doesn’t print at all and the color ink is weak. It’s very difficult to get a hold of a technician to help me through this. I’m very frustrated. I feel like I need to buy a new printer, but that will not give me my $84 back that I just purchased the cartridges for.

If I try to print something in black and white, I get a blank sheet. If I try to print something in color, it comes out pink and yellow.

The second one I opened in the bathroom because of my first experience and it also sprayed black ink all over the place but fortunately in the bathroom sink. The next one will be opened with rubber gloves in the bathroom because of the big mess it makes.

I will never use any other refill or other product again. Other products leak, are messy and do not perform like HP 920XL products. Do not use refills, they are a waste of money. With HP 920 XL you get better copies and so many more with the extra ink. I would recommend any color 920XL ink from HP!

Clean heads three times. Still didn't print. So the HP6500, which worked for about 7 years, just didn't want to print black anymore for some reason. Colored printing still worked. I ended up buying new HP printer which uses 910 cartridges. I returned all 920 cartridges for a refund and am enjoying the new printer.

I always order one more of each when I put the last one I already have into the HP 6500 All in one wireless printer and immediately order another exact order so I am always one ahead. Thank God I did that because after only having all the new xl cartridges in for 3 weeks or so My printer stopped printing. I tried printing in color and anything that was in color on the page printed but where the writing was in black the area was blank. I was glad I always order an extra set soI took out the black cartridge even though the front of the printer said it was almost full and put in the black cartridge I just received and voila! my printer is working fine. Which means something is wrong with the black cartridge I removed. How do I go about getting a refund or a replacement. I still have the box and the cartridge. and all the others that I put in at the same time all are at about the same level as the black one was. I don't do that much printing just for invoices or receipts. I use my fax or scan somethingwhere I don't have to use too much ink. I think my last 2 orders were H121518915 and another one in March I think.

I believe that there is some sort of timer in these cartridges that activates if you buy them and let them sit in a cupboard for too long. Three of these large, expensive, cartridges, that I had sitting in a cupboard, worked beautifully the first night I put them in and until I shut my printer off. Suddenly, the next day, these full cartridges would not work. 3X. I now order only directly from HP and only after I get a low ink warning.

But when I tried to add the black cartridges on that order, it would not give me the 3 for 2 discount. So I entered a second oder for the black--which is the order I am responding on. With the two orders, I wound up in total with everthing 3 for the price of two--which cost you additional shipping and order costs and me a little time.

This only seems to happen on the XL Black cartridge. I now do it inside a garbage bag, but the mess is still bad and a fair bit of the ink comes out.

Printer recognized it as a used cartridge tho you sold it to me as a new cartridge. The color cartridges were good, no problems with them.

Colors were printing fine, but black did not. After multiple cleaning of the print head, 1/2 of the "New" cartridges were used up !!!

The colors, in fact, are still printing. I did buy a black XL a couple of weeks ago. If the latest doesn't perform to specs, the printer gets recycled. Note: Delivery service is great and as promised.

I design and write patterns for knitting and crocheting projects. I contacted HP and they immediately sent a replacement! The other three (color) were fine. Greatly appreciate the replacement and the kindness I received.

So a new model later and have to have different ink cartridges. So we purchased a new HP 8025 and joined the automatic ink service. HP machines are reliable so that is what influenced our purchase.

Both of these worked for printing about 20 pages and then required repeated cleaning of the heads. After about another 10 pages, they needed to be cleaned again. Etc. The result was very few pages printed and most of the ink wasted on cleaning. Not satisfactory!

Refilled inks do not give you the same quality and there is no guaranty that the cartridge is filled to capacity & proving someone else was at fault & getting compensation is hard. It may cost pennies more but in the long run WELL WORTH IT!

The OfficeJet 6500 does not keep track and warn when the ink is really low so the XL is the best bet! The Orange, plastic lever on the ink cartridge is very difficult to "crack off". That is the only negative comment that I would have to say about the product.

I find it hard to believe I am the only one that experienced this problem. Customer service simply made the matter worse by insisting I send the cartridges back and then they would send replacements upon receipt. I always order all four as they are used at the same rate. Since I print much in black, the smaller color cartridges work out just right. I have tried refills and another brand in the past. These are the only reliable, long use cartridges. With the free shipping and my user discounts, this is also the most economical print ink I can buy. The cartridges have never taken more than two days to arrive. Good Work!

I mostly print in black and white so I am always replacing that cartridge and not the color ones. I wish i could hook it up to a permanent black feed line. I have all HP products and are very happy with them. I also like your service, they know the products and are very curtious.

My cartridge has four weeks of moderate printing and over 250 sheets yet still shows nearly full in the estimated ink level. I use normal settings and 600 dpi. Most of my printing is business spreadsheets, business checks and b/w business material. I'll revisit this if my estimated level prooves overly optimistic but for now, I'm very pleased with the output.

It seems that it don't last to long, but i'm not sure about that, because I do alot of copying here lately and i'm going thru alot of ink. But as far as buying straight from HP, I will always do that. I have bought HP ink from WalMart several times and you pay more and the ink DOES NOT last no time. Maybe it sets to long on the shelves and starts to dry, I don't know. What I do know is buying straight from HP is your better buy ALL AROUND!

Also, there is usually a coupon code I get online, usually from Retail Me Not, in which I can get add'l money off for an order of $50 or $75. Then, there's the free 2-day shipping for orders over $50. I would only use original HP ink in my HP printer. Can't find original HP ink any cheaper elsewhere with that kind of price/shipping/service combination.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scan does not work. I like the multi-function printer, but I could not get the scanner to work. I tried initiating scans at the printer and on the computer. Error messages told me there was no communications, but I was able to print and copy. I was able to activate the scanner. I do not use the Fax feature. I tried all of the HELP suggestions. One help page told me that Windows 7 does not support the scanner, and the work arounds did not work. Any suggestions ??

I don't get that when there is still about 1/3 of the cartridge still filled. There should be a way that the cartridge would still work after February 2012. Funny how on 3/1/12 I needed to replace the toner to get the printer to print legibly. This is the second time in 15 months I have had this problem.

I bought the first one for the "value" (duh) but after about 3 weeks it started printing weird lines on the page at random. I.thought maybe my printer was going on the fritz. I switched to the regular sized 920 and problem solved so I threw the XL in the garbage. So much for saving money! Was really surprised too because have always had good luck with HP quality. This one better deliver as advertised or I might just go to a different brand of printer.

I have always purchased the ink cartridges directly from HP, so I cannot explain their inconsistent quality. One out of every 4 or 5 seems to "dry out" or just not have enough ink despite what the status level indicates. These insufficient cartridges last about 1/2 the time of a "normal" working cartridge.

This never had happen in all my life. I was so upset so after I got clean up and my shirt was destroyed, Got on the phone and they said I would have to place and new order then was tranferred to the return departmen where I got and RMA and Fedx shipping label. That same day I shipped it off. Now it shows more on my credit credit until they get this one back. Then next day the very same thing happen and I was ver upset. So upset. This time I just went straight to the return department where I got another RMA and it was once again shipped another one. Well I got the ink and it happen again. So once again got the return department. I had order two back inks and both of the black ink order happen the same way. Will while on the phone waiting the ink finally stop comming out and while on the phone I told the person just a minute I going to try washing the black ink off of the cartiage and then turn it up side down and it was not ozzing out so I told the HP person that I going to try and see what happens. Will it work. So he said since my shirt was destroyed with ink and I had this problem happen twice, he sent me another two 920xl Officeject Ink Cartridge HP Officejet. I have not open those two up when they come in. I just put them up and waiting until hopefully nothing will happen. I thought this was very nice and it will take the cost of my shirt. I have the shirt if they need it for evidence.

My 3 HP printers all perform excellent with the cartridges that don't leak upon opening. Open them carefully over something (sink?) that can take drips.

When we remove the orange cap prior to installing, ink runs out on your hands and clothes, and the cartridge is useless.We feel a replacement cartridge is in order. It prints so many more pages in clear and bright ink and is always easy to use and to recycle cartridges as well. The XL cartridges are even more economical to use. I love that this printer includes printing, copying, scanning and faxing capability in a fairly small (and single) footprint. I can print index cards without any complaint. I use it strictly for home use, no huge jobs, so high speed isn't a requirement. It's an upgrade from an older OfficeJet that I was happy with for years, but didn't have scanning capability. On the whole, I'm pleased with the purchase, would buy it again if I needed a second one.

While I do believe the ink is very pricey, its quality and longevity must be taken into consideration. I wish they had more coupons but I will continue to pay the price because it is the best.

Unless I get a message from my printer that the ink is low, it will take you by surprise. Ink one minute, empty the next. Price could be lower. Free next business day delivery is great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from XL HP Cartridge I've been a user of HP printers since 1995, everything from dot-matrix, office style laser types, and now my own ink jet. Also had an ink jet plotter for CAD work in my previous job. All worked great but the length of time the cartridges lasted was an issue until HP offered the XL cartridges. I do inspections and my report, including color photographs, often got to 90 pages and can chew up a cartridge pretty quickly. Once I switched to the XL cartridge, they are lasting me about a month now, which is what I consider a reasonable amount of time in my occupation. Used to figure about $30 each for ink and paper for each report. Now I'm down to a few dollars. Tried re-filled cartridges but after several failed for whatever reason, found it wasn't worth it. Tried and true HP originals are what works for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a mess I have been enjoying my HP 6500 wireless for 1 1/2 years. I ordered several replacement ink cartridges from HP direct - something that I don't often do. When my black ink cartridge needed replacing, I took the wrappers off the cartridge and looked to the printer for a moment, and then realized that ink was dripping from between my fingers and all over paperwork on my desk - and upon inspection, it was coming from the bottom of the cartridge. I've heard of such things happening with off-brand and refilled units but not with HP brand, full price cartridges. I was ready to print and had no ink - and a mess to clean up. Now I need to figure out how to get it replaced - a time and energy user. Most likely, back to the office supply store.

This is important to me because living in Alaska produces a wide variety of postal challenges. I am impressed that your product arrived exactly on time as promised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disapointing When I opened the cartoon the cartridge felt empty but I opened the out side packaging and the removed the arm just before inserting into the machine, The cartridge started leaking and then I was lucky I had a waste basket handy after a few drops it stopped and I inserted to the copier. There was nothing in the cartridge.

This is the first time that has ever happen to me with HP cartridges (of any color I ordered). I know the off brands or refills do that. That is why I buy HP new cartridge's. I just chalked it up to a loss since this only happen one time. I will still order again unless it happens again. I

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Control Issues A few months ago, I bought this product. I paid an arm and a leg for it. As soon as I put it in the printer, I got a message saying that the ink cartridge was missing or damaged. It wasn't missing, and it was brand new and properly installed. I exchanged it for another one. Same problem. I used a needle to poke the ventilation hole. Then, it worked fine for a while. Now, it doesn't work. I don't think it could possibly out of ink. I haven't printed that much -- just a few pages every few days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Leaking cartridges I'm an HP employee and I noticed a couple of reviews recently about leaks on the Black 920XL. One thing to note is that failure to open the cartridges correctly can result in a leak when the orange shipcap is twisted. The tape marked Pull should be removed together with the shrinkwrap. This vents the cartridge. Then the orange shipcap can be twisted. Hope this helps, Ciara

That makes way more sense to me that the little ones that are used up very quickly. I am a writer and also sell on ebay, so I do a lot of printing. Reams of paper! I just love Hewlitt Packard and never use a generic ink supply. I demand perfection and I get it with them!

With coupons that I found online, I paid a little more that it would cost to get old cartridges refilled. I ordered them Wed night (8 or 9 PM) and received them 2days later at 9AM. I was amazed at the speed (and during the Holiday Season to boot). I installed the cartridges and they work perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Performance from Another 920lx Prod Code# I found a 920XL black cartridge on hp's website with a different product code (C4906AN#140) that is only a few dollars more, advertises 2,200 (I believe) pages, and has a great review ("this cartridge keeps going and going"). That cartridge (the C4906AN#140) doesn't come up when you do the standard product search for 920XL... not sure why, but I am going to try that cartridge today instead of this one and hope to be pleasantly surprised by its performance!

They are always shipped next day for free, which I love! One time I had to buy a black cartridge from a local office store because it was tax day and I ran out of black ink. But I'll never buy ink from a retail store again, because they are much fresher and last longer when shipped direct from HP. I've also never had a problem with clogging. They are very reliable to the last drop!

I know that the razor and razor blade started this type of marketing, but I had thought that by the time we got to computers we would have learned better.

However, lately they do not always have all of the colors. The last time I purchased from Office Depot and had them DELIVERED to me, two of the black cartridges were no good. The expiration date was fine, but the ink was no good. I could not return them, had to throw them away, and eat the cost. This time, I purchased from HP and was very satisfied. It was more convenient than driving all the way to Office Depot; it was delivered in a timely manner; and, so far, the ink is fine (I bought 2 black). So, I would recommend buying directly from HP -- and I will, again. At least I know that if the cartridge is faulty, HP would make good on it. Also, the price was competitive with my Office Depot. Thank you, HP!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is okay; however it could be better This product is okay and fills the bill in terms of ink production. I have one major problem with it. Therefore I only recommend this on a qualified basis. It appeared, quite early on, that it had run out of ink. I ventured into the "help" feature of my computer which took a fair amount of time. After a bit of readiing, I realized that the reason for little to no ink was that the little key like opening on top of the cartridge was not fully clear. I pulled out an exacto knife and cleared the opening. Presto! Everything worked correctly. I rather had spend that time doing something else in that 1/2 hour but do not necessarily consider that loss of time a complete waste. Now I know what to do if that ever happens again.
