Printer Great/ User Interface Terrible
The device works well; prints nicely and expeditiously. The user interface is beyond bad. We actually downloaded a third-party program to improve communication with printer and, therefore, functionality. When Xerox creates a better GUI, the device will be supreme to all others in its class.

Excellent All Round Printer
This printer is reliable, has great resolution and prints quickly once it has woken up. I particularly like the scan to e-mail function as a pdf document. It prints 2 sided and is quiet. it is moderate in printing cost per page and the smallest toner cartridges last approximately 3000 pages. Highly recommend using the large print kits, these will run the machine a long time. Printer has sufficient capacity for a small manufacturing environment of 8 to 10 administrative users

This product is striaght garbage
Replacement ink/toner for this unit is WAY overpriced, costs more than a new machine to replace out the 4 colors. Add to that; this printer has needed costly service more once in it's short life (for a sensor failure and a deep paper jam that should not have been possible to happen, poor design). For the cost of repairs in the last calendar year for a machine not 2 years old, I should have 3 working machines; instead I have one that I can't say enough bad things about; please don't buy this piece of costly trash.

WORST MACHINE EVER PURCHASED
The machine is not user friendly. Switching between printing on paper and printing envelopes was the worst experience I have ever encountered. Also, printing on copy paper and then printing on checks was not automatic. If you switched the kinds of paper, you had to reset the machine, even if they were the same size. If you ever had a jam, which was often, you can forget about resetting it. You had to unplug the machine to reset. When you did this, you lost everything in the print queue. Finally replaced it with a Brother machine and it has performed remarkedly.

Severe output problems with envelopes
Destroys envelopes so that they come out completely crumpled and ruined. Extremely difficult to adjust settings and switching from letters to envelopes.

When I purchased this printer new from Dell, I could not get it to work properly. I kept getting a communications error. Both the printer and computer were brand new from Dell, so was there an interface issue? However, Dell service techs could not get it to work right either, and they told me to just call Xerox. A year or so later, it finally starting working fine. I do like the printer now, quick and great copies. Maybe it was one of the later updates that fixed it.

Very good printer, the print quality is excellent, both color and black/white.
The biggest issue i have is when I make copy without use the the paper feeder. When I place the paper to be copied directly on the glass and make the copy, I then have to tell the printer I am done...if I don't, i get caught in an endless loop, with the printer asking me to continue. The only way to get out. as far as I can tell, it to turn off the printer.
I feel a printer this smart, should not have to be told I am done making the copy.

Frustrated
For the most part it's a fair multifunction Printer. But there are a few things I just don't like. I hate the way it tells you are out of paper...it doesn't. It gives you a error code, instead of just saying "out of paper". How hard is that? And then there's the scanning option. I don't even want to get into that. These things are supposed to make our lives easier, but programming has made it harder.

Great printer for my home office
This is my second Xerox printer. It's been great and was competitively priced vs. higher-end home printers. It produces very high quality, fast printing and is also a great scanner. Dry toner means no more worries about wasting liquid ink (or solid wax blocks). The multi-function printer would also easily meet the needs of most small businesses.

My VersLlink does everything I need it to do. It is easy to set up and use. I have had mine for two years and have not had any difficulty with it. It is a lot more cost effective than an inkjet printer.

Wish it came with a operation manual
I do not like just the touch screen, often does not recognize that you are touching it. I also do not like the fact that to change settings that you have to do this on line, you should be able to do this without having to connect to the internet. I also think the machine should come with a book which tells you how to use the machine, not everyone has time to sit on the internet and look for information on how something works, would be much quicker to look through index in an instruction manual to find what you are looking for, especially if your internet connection is excessively slow.

Hardware issues
While the interface is easy to use, we have only had the product for a month and have experienced 2 major outages. First was a failure after a power outage, the fix was to unplug the unit, leave it unplugged for 15 minutes, and then power it back on. Odd to say the least, and wasted a lot of time troubleshooting before getting that 'fix' suggested to us. Second (a week later) was a drum replacement that was requested by Xerox after we replaced the Magenta cartridge and the printer would not recognize the new cartridge. This will be a 2 day outage, if in fact the drum replacement fixes the issue, which Xerox support has not guaranteed that it will.

Great printer, so-so scanner
This is a really good printer for a busy office that doesn't do a lot of scanning. In our accounting office, we have to scan a lot of tax documents into our server, but they are not all perfectly flat papers and it gets jammed up easily. There is also not a lot of space to put larger documents, so you will have to split them up. We probably would have chosen a different machine had we been more aware of these issues. Otherwise, it prints fast and is a really good quality print.

The VersaLink C405 is an excellent printer, scanner, copier and fax for the home or small business. Although it does many tasks, and is able to work over a network, it is easy to set up and use. The print quality is great as is the speed. It is my dream machine. Thank you for producing it.

Set up is easy. Wireless printing from iDevices is easy.
Scan to email was a little tedious to set up but works well when set up.
Footprint is compact for a commercial machine that is super fast to print.

I have 3 Xerox Workcentre 6605 printers that are workhorses. I bought this printer at an auction, brand new, unopened. It was a breeze to set up. Had my first document printed in minutes. I love the speed and print quality.

Multiple networking issues
I have had 3 different solid ink printers and got this one at a substantial rebate because Xerox is discontinuing the solid ink printers. It was difficult to set up the networking and still is not functioning as I would like. The paper curls considerably more because of the heat which keeps me from printing card stock on both sides. This printer will not change paper types seamlessly. It makes you go to the printer and punch in the type of paper instead of setting it from the software. This printer may work very well for a Xerox software designer or a networking expert but is too complex for an average person.

Some things that I wish were better
The document feeder jams quite often. My company uses store brand paper and the owner's manual recommends using better paper. When it jams, it doesn't print out all of the papers that it had scanned before so I manually go through the copies to find out where it left off. The printer wants you to reload all of the originals when it jams but that leads to a better chance of jamming again. I always cancel through the "load originals" screens and start with the page that it stopped on. The copies are of good quality. The color copies are good enough that they are mistaken for originals. My copies and scans are a little crooked. I have checked all of the guides and can't figure out what is causing the crooked scans.

Excellent Speed: Quirky Wireless Capabilities
After many years of loyalty to HP I finally decided it was in my small-business' best interest to give Xerox a try. We purchased this machine along with a stand and a wireless component. Set up was a OK once we were able to figure out what pin setting the base of the machine needed to attach properly to the base. (The instructions were out of date and did not list our particular machine.) Very impressed with the speed and quality of printing! Wish Xerox made scanning software for this machine like HP does as we were forced to figure out another conduit. Microsoft was not the answer and we ended up choosing to use Adobe's. A bit clunky but works well enough.

We didn't receive an onwer's manual with the product
I am sure this machine can do so much more than we can figure out, but without an owners manual included it makes it difficult. the machine takes a while to wake up which slows down printing speed. Scanning should be easer but it's not. I actually now dread having to scan something. It is not user friendly

We thought when we bought this it was a 2 sided printer how ever we cant find the option to turn it on. Another issue is every time you need open paper drawer you have to wait for tray to register so you can OK your paper size. the last issue is it has weird dinging sound ever now and then but it something no one can figure out.

Easy to use and tons of great features. I would expect the price to be higher for all that this can do.
I've used the product for almost a year. I haven't even had one jam. I use some of the Apps, and use it to print and email. It's very user friendly, fast, and has been perfectly reliable. I would recommend this to any business or home office.

Great copier BUT…Dell, not so much
Great copier BUT…when ordered I stated what I needed it to do. When it arrived it is not Wi-Fi capable unless you purchase a separate part which has no availability on planet Earth. This was not disclosed during the ordering process so my single star is for Dell. The copier is a rock star if connected with an Ethernet cable.

I purchased the printer/scanner/copier for my office. It works well for the 5 of us. We had some trouble getting the printer set-up on the network and scanning was a bit of a challenge but all solved with IT help.

Small businesses need this printer.
Some of the reviews talked about set up issues, I did not experience any. Printer was up and printing within a few minutes of installing the print drivers. The quality of the print is very professional.

Xerox printers surpass the competition

C405 too complicated
We love the print quality of the Xerox Versalink C405 but it like trying to understand a computer, not a printer. It does things automatically and we can't figure out how to change it. The touchscreen freezes all the time and we have to unplug it to restart it to clear it. I guess it is more printer than we need but control and settings should be much easier to use and change. Defaults we set should stay defaults and not be reset by the printer randomely.

Cost effective printer, easy to set up.
We bought this printer for our office staff of five individuals. It works well for our needs. Our only concern is with one of our older computers the device will fault at least once a day and prevent one of our workers from printing. We have tried to troubleshoot the issue and cannot resolve the problem.
Other than that, printer works great we have attached the WiFi adapter and we use it on occasion to print from our phones. It was easy to setup on all computers with the Xerox setup program and the ink lasts quite a while for the price-point.

The overall performance of the VersaLink 405 is good. It's fairly easy to use. The ink is pricey!!! I have difficulty downloading the drivers needed to support the software I use which causes some frustration.

this product did not work out of the box as a brand spanking new product
This product failed to work out of the box as a brand new unit. It required a tech to install a new scanner and ADF feeder twice. It failed out of the box. The so called new parts for it failed. I appreciate the persistence of the Tech to complete the job. Now it is extremely noisy and hesitates for a long period prior to printing more than a few pages. This unit needs to be under the "LEMON LAW". Thanks Very Unhappy

Changing paper settings is a pain, doesn't automatically go back to default paper, ink cartridges are not large enough capacity, scan software doesn't interact smoothly, print quality on color printing leaves a lot to be desired.

I purchased this for my front office. We do quite a bit of print and copy work. This has been a great all in one machine. Great copy and print quality and capacity. It did take a little getting used to at first, but the Xerox Tech Support staff were very helpful. I will definitely be purchasing another Xerox product in the future

Great Printer instruction manual??
Great printer, speed and quality of print but setting it up is a task. Few things are automatic, and the instruction manual very long and could be better written. This is my first Xerox printer and I will admit that I know how HP works from experience but they no longer had a printer I wanted and Xerox did. Now it is an office printer and I think they expect the office to have a tech to set it up but just the same all of the accounting functions are not need in my home office and this has complicated my life. I think Xerox should come up with a simpler mode for those of us that don't need all of the user modes and functions. Guest user, which is all I use, has too many restrictions and setting up user's functions appears to take more time than I have .

I purchase this printer, copier, fax ect., to have in my office for my new insurance business. Not being electronic savvy, I had to call the support team multiple time during the first week of owning the machine to get it functioning properly. Those guys in the technical support department was very patient with me and help me resolve all my issues. Never did I get a negative vibe from any of them although I know me being totally illiterate to the machine it had to be difficult having to repeat the same thing over and over. The machine itself, after getting everything setup correctly, has operated flawlessly. This Is a very good product and I recommend it for any size business.

Was tired of buying a cheap printer every couple years so I bought a Xerox hoping it would live up to the brands name. It was a pain setting it up taking most of a day, the printer falls asleep and you have to power it on to wake it up, it asks what paper you put in if you switch back and forth between papers, it wont just default print. Its a step up in features and functionality from what I am used to, but when this printer fails I will be looking at other brands

This is a fussy, finicky, glitchy printer from Day One
Why am I on this site writing a review? Because once again, this printer has impeded my productivity. I want to print out an agenda for a full day meeting tomorrow, but NO. Claims there is a jam...no jam. Cleared anyway. Wants me to select the paper again. Paper was selected. Wants to select a different tray. So far 30 minutes and NO PRINTED AGENDA. Gives error messages when it wants you to buy more toner. That is the ultimate agenda...printers are throw-away devices to push the purchasing of toner. I am VERY disappointed in XEROX, which I previously thought to be a reputable, reliable brand. This printer works about 25% of the time. DO NOT PURCHASE this printer, you will live to regret it.

Xerox 405
Our office reluctantly switched to this printer from the Xerox solid ink printers. It is definitely an inferior product to the solid ink machines. We had been using solid ink printers since 1999 (I believe) and this printer does not compare to any of the solid ink models we had over the 20 year span - as far as quality, ink consumption and service calls. Others may find this printer works fine for their needs, but for our office, after having the quality and "work horse" stability of the solid ink machines - it is a step down and disappointment.

Great printer. I had the Dell Branded version of this same model. It does good work and is efficient with toner. I am a real estate agent and I purposely overbought on printer so that I would have Print/scan/fax. I paid over $700+ including the extended warranty. Features sought are duplex, high duty load, color, and the ability to produce custom quality brochures to save on professional printing costs. In the scanner i need the ability to scan single side or duplex using feeder or plate for the unusual stuff. This is a very important feature for me and the fact that the software was not robust has been a problem. It does a great job on color information sheets Love the printer, hate the software and service. The software to run this is horrible and not comprehensive. I called support, sales, and many others to find out what print management software was available. Nobody had a clue what package to use or how to configure what I did find on my own. It was infuriating and cost me alot of time.

This product is useless
This machine is always giving us problems with faxing, for months we were not able to fax. Xerox blamed it on our IT company and they blamed it on Xerox. Finally the issue was resolved on Xerox's end. This machine has scanning capabilities, however it does not work for us.

When Migrating to Paperless
We have migrated to a paperless environment and this printer meets our needs with its scan features and ability to print (black and white, color, single-sided, double-sided) when that occasional print job pops up. And while fax machines are a thing of the past, we are required to maintain a fax machine and the Xerox C405 meets that requirement. With our paperless migration, we were hardly printing and most incoming documents are already in an electronic format so the need for the rental of a large office printer / scanner had virtually disappeared. In cancelling our large printer rental, in the first month we were able to cover the cost of our downsized printer which has been able to meet our needs perfectly. It has a lot of touchscreen features that take a little getting used to and while the speed is not quite up to the speed of the large high volume printer that we had before, we are no longer printing high volume jobs so the speed is good for small print jobs.

VersaLink C405 has given me nothing but problems and is unusable after 2 weeks that I bought for my business
VersaLink C405 was hard to set I even got the wifi addon but it was very hard to set up then quit working and after not even 2 weeks the colors went haywire so I replaced factory cartridges with brand new ones I bought when I purchased the printer and the problem persists. It keeps telling me the yellow is out and I just put it in so that's annoying I am not a mechanic but I would defiantly call this printer a lemon. Now I am not only out a printer but 4 toner cartridges which are not cheap. I can't afford to pay a xerox tech to fix it so I am out a lot of money. I figure Xerox won't post this review because it is not a good image so I am probably wasting my time but they asked me to review the printer.

Xerox Support Required for Setup; Great Machine Features!
The Xerox C405 specifications and features are great! Fast (47ppm) color and black & white printing, copying, and scanning. Plus fax, but I don't use fax currently. Plus can print photos! 2 sided printing, copying, and scanning (single pass). Print from and scan to USB drive. WiFi communications from multiple pcs to C405 via single local network. EZ to learn and use copier touch-controls on C405 display panel. Takes some time to learn C405 features, but works quickly and easily. Really like the ability to set black only printing & copying, and draft mode, to save toner in daily use. Plus ability to set color printing & copying, and report quality printing, when needed! Copying and scanning 1-sided to 2-sided works easily. High-capacity toner cartridges will save on black and color toner cost. 550 page paper tray holds full ream of paper! Installation and setup was a bear! Confusion about which drivers to use on my end, but none worked. WiFi communications did not work initially. Connection via USB was spotty, with some print commands processing hours after issue. After 3 tech support calls (including remote hands-on), requested and got tech field visit. Field techs downloaded different drivers, replaced communications board in C405, changed several settings (including C405 IP address), and downloaded different printer driver to pc. Finally, after rebooting network router, everything just worked correctly. Thank you Xerox Tech Support for solving the problem! Since then, the Xerox C405 just works over WiFi!!! All features are available. I am glad to have this full-featured machine! Works great!!! Love this machine!

This is the best printer I have found in a while!
I have been using many other printer brands that are like this printer including Konica Minolta and Canon, and this tops all that! This printer prints 2-sided, fast, easy, scans, faxes, the whole package! One recommendation though is that make the printer set up a little easier. Not a problem with me since this is for a tech support company.
I cannot have asked for anything better for this price tag - small, meets and beats standards, everything! 5 stars!

This is a fast printer with great quality
We have had Xerox printers in the past and replaced a wax cube style printer with the Versalink. It is quick, and spools jobs well! The print quality is very good, no matter what media is being used! The interface could be a bit more intuitive but otherwise it is a great value for the price point! We would recommend it wholeheartedly!

Easy to use, great quality. The touch screen makes it easy to navigate through options. Print quality is really great and easy to program for lower quality when needed. Multiple ways to access info and services. It's also nice that it uses an 'app' system so users familiar with common tech like smartphones will have an easier time learning the machine. I use this in a small office setting where print, fax, email, and scanning is essential. Love this machine!

Great multi-function mancine
This is my second Xerox printer. I first purchased the Phaser 6010 seven years ago and recently purchased the VersaLink C405 last year. I love the VersaLink C405. It is so easy to use. The print quality cannot be beat and interfacing with my PC when it comes to scanning and communication is top notch. Tech support is always available and happy to help whenever I need them...So far only twice. It truly is the all-in-one machine for printing, copying, faxing and scanning. It also easily connects my cell phone to print photos. This is a great worry free printer. Would highly recommend it! Thanks Xerox.

Great new product!
The VersaLink C405 is a great copier/printer. The volume of work that it is able to perform is amazing-I found this out as I accidentally printed an entire magazine of about 50 pages. The color and graphics looked great. The Set up had to be done by a person well versed in computers and we did have some difficulty learning the product. Also, the the plastic it is made of is very thin-however this did make the machine very light. we replaced a machine that was four times its size and it does many more functions.

I love my Xerox VersaLink C405. I wan't sure that our very small business needed this additional expense, but I am so glad I went for it! The copies are great, and I have truly enjoyed using it. We have bought this Xerox VersaLink C405 few months ago replacing our normal portable printing machines. This machine looks very professional and has great features. The best feature I liked about is the using of the Xerox App from your laptop or any device where you can control the scanning and printing of the documents. The product is great and the toner last longer than normal cartridges. Overall it is a great office product to use.

Out of the box, however, there was not any information included for setting it up. We looked tirelessly for a CD or easy set up instructions. We are still lacking information such as a way to set fax to print a confirmation sheet. I would have also like there to have been a way to print insurance cards. Overall, seems to perform well and is able to receive multiple pgs of fax.

Good Workhorse!
We bought the tower as well for a base to this printer and it gets a lot of use at my small business. Once all was assembled, we have had little trouble with this printer. We primarily use this printer for proposals and performance reports for prospects/clients when we meet in-person. Our goal at our office is for all of our client files to be digital so the high-speed, two-sided scanning capability of this printer is a huge plus!

Although it has very good print quality, it is confused much of the time. If we use the bypass tray, it can freeze up or ignore the bypass tray altogether. We have had to reset the machine back to factory settings a number of times when it froze.

It has so many features I have not had time to use them all. It did take me a little bit to get it hooked up to all the computers I needed. You have to make sure that you get the wifi adapter as the printer does not come with it. Once you have that it works wonders! High quality printing and easy to use.

Excellent printer.
First off the print quality on this is one of the best on a laser-jet I have ever seen, with the 8-Bit Depth to the 600x600 resolution makes it seem like a 2400x2400 dpi printer!
The color transitions for graphics and photo's are superb however it does struggle a little with blacks in photos, it is as if its all black and there is no in-between. But still excellent graphic and photo quality. Text is Excellent from a 10pt font up, nice crisp and clear. Below a 10pt font it still prints good but a higher resolution printer will be more effective in that department. The claim to fame as far as output quality on this printer is the 8 Bit Depth which allows 32 different shades per dot opposed to standard 1 bit depth which is either on or off (It either puts toner on the dot or it doesn't it cant blend the colors) this makes transitioning into different colors more seamless and colors that are more accurate. It is kinda difficult to setup but I had all the functions up and running through the course of the evening, no real problems there for me at-least. As far as speed it just cranks page after page. While printing duplex as soon as the first sheet finishes the second is already popping out to go back in to be duplex-ed (don't know if that's a word :). I am very satisfied with the printer. I use it for my home office and have had it for 2 weeks and have about 1300 pages through it with no jams or problems at all. Would buy again 10x over :)

I ordered cartridges for the C-400/405 and they looked nothing like the ones that came in the starter. In the manual, it simply says 'contact a dealer for replacement'. They do not fit and there are no "dealers" around here. I can only shop online.

Consistent Errors - from Install to customer service
This product seems easy to install for your workgroup - it's not. Errors appeared on every device unless is was directly connected via USB cable to the machine. The support center was not very helpful. Would not recommend this product.

We use our machine daily. It is easy to use, works to our capacity and the customer service has been good. We have a contract for our ink which has not been perfect however they quickly fixed the issue. It replaced a very old machine so it's dreamy to us.

A good printer when new but expensive toner
This printer is used in a small business. When new and installed it was very reliable and printed excellent full page photographs and impressive color reports. Then suddenly the color was way off. No one at Xerox help could fix. Worse than not fixing it, the new drivers they had me install did not allow me the same options. Now I cannot even print out pages in the correct order. I used an authorized technician for an onsite repair. The technician could not fix the problem. So I am left having to buy a new printer.

So quiet!
This is my first new printer in several years and how technology has advanced! Comparatively speaking, it has a small footprint for all its features, which is a plus. It's a quick connect from the computer, copying, printing, and scanning fast with the auto-doc feeder, another plus. It operates so quietly, which is my favorite feature! Hope it gives me years of service...only time will tell.

This product does not function as expected.
The printer continues to provide me with difficulties and the literature provided does not have what appears to be an immediate fix. When attempting to print after hibernation, the printer feeds paper without break, instead of the print request. The unit then has to be shut down which means taking it apart to remove the paper jammed in the system. Just a headache.

We use this printer for our Homecare Services startup. We have a print volume of around 3000 pages a month and it handles it well without any issues. Setting up the printer is not easy though, and I still can't get the Scan to Email function working. Faxes work great.

Just Don't Do It
We've had this printer for over a year now, and it's been the bane of my existence. Everything from setup to simply printing envelopes has been a complete hassle. When printing more a few pages, the machine often stops to reset itself multiple times. Envelopes and card stock jam frequently, sometimes with each and every copy. We are one more paper jam from an Office Space situation. In short, don't waste your time and money like we have.

Great print quality
Prints quickly. Quality of prints is excellent. Once set up, very easy to use. Setting up on small company network had some difficulties that took significant effort from savvy computer professionals to address. Some advanced features we still could not get to work, ex., sending scans to email addresses. Overall, very pleased with great performance at reasonable price.

Very user unfriendly, toner is very expensive compared to competitior
I previously had another brand multi-function, so my comments are comparing to my current Xerox to a competitor multi-function. Set up is not user friendly. Scanning is not user friendly (possibly because setup isn't complete?). Competitor multi-function was very plug and play and had a wonderful scan-suite which allowed merging of multiple documents scanned into 1 PDF, cropping, and other visual modifications before saving all from my computer's desktop. To scan with the Xerox, I have to plug a USB drive into the printer, scan and save 1 document at a time, then move the USB drive to my laptop for manipulation, even though the printer is wired directly to my laptop. Need to order toner soon. It cheaper by the cost/page to purchase a new competitor printer (which comes with toner) than to purchase toner for the Xerox. I'm switching back to the competitor.

Great for office!
This printer really does a fabulous job of both color and black and white prints, copies, and scanning. My last printer purchase was about 10 years ago, so this technology is much improved over my previous printer. Love it.

Quality and very easy to use and set up

Great printer for our office size
This printer is the workhorse around the office. We have about 40 employees with a mix of sales, support, and design teams. It does quite well for our needs. I love the remote printing capability as well. One thing I wish it had would be the ability to password protect a print job if one should desire, especially for sensitive HR documents.

I would not recommend this product to anyone. We had multiple in our office and it felt like at any given time one was not working. The one I have now is 7500 pages into its life and the Fuser failed vs. the 100k it is rated for. I can spend $200-300 for a new fuser or sell the ink and toss the printer in the dumpster and go buy something more reliable for the same out of pocket cost.

This is not an easy machine to operate.
The print quality is great, but I want to talk to the programmers and ask why they made a machine that you need a PhD to operate. Plus, it does not come with a paper manual. Make a machine and keep it simple.

This product works great
This all-in-one is easy to use. You can select either black or colored copies, one-sided or duplex and make photocopies. The only drawback I see with this product is that I can't print duplex on cardstock; otherwise, it's a perfect fit for our small office.

Best Multifunction Printer I have owned
I have bought many multifunction printers and this one is just the best in all of them. It is excellent is all respect. The only area I would like to be improved is programming it to do certain things, but the people at Xerox quickly took care of them. Great product, wished I had bought one years before.

Excellant MFP, but setup is challenging
The printer software for PCs is not intuitive, in particular for scanning, but once you figure it out, the software allows you to configure every setting imaginable. We acquired this printer for its speed of scanning stacks of documents, and it will print/scan/copy double sided without having to flip the paper.
The initial setup of the network feature was frustrating. The login password is the serial number of the printer, even though the manuals say otherwise.

Extremely easy to setup. From opening the box to printing the first page took less than 15 minutes! This printer's connectivity was the easiest I've ever experienced! Great business class printer!

This copier works great!
We needed a quicker printer and this one fit the bill. Colors are beautiful and the double sided feature works great. Only issue is with some of the online features, we struggle with signing in right each time! But overall, we love this copier!

Reliable, fast and easy to use
I use this particular model at my small company where I have 5 at the office. When my home printer needed to be replaced, I naturally turned to what worked so well at the office. There are cheaper units, but in my opinion, this unit represents excellent value. The printer is connected to my home network. Setting up a printer on a network is always a challenge. The printing aspect was dead simple. However, I wanted the printer to (i) send a scanned document to various email addresses and (ii) scan a document directly to a folder on my computer. These two functions were difficult to set up. I read the manual and have pretty decent computer and networking skills, yet I was struggling. I give Xerox a high rating because when I finally occurred to me to call the help line, the tech support was top notch. I won't bore you with my particular little tech setup issues, but a very helpful, easy to understand, patient support person got it all up and running just the way I wanted. Frankly, it wasn't so easy for the tech support person to figure out my idiosyncratic issues, but they stayed with it and got the job done. If I have any complaint, it is that Xerox didn't make the option of calling for tech support front and center in its material.

Great features, needs a bit of flexiblity
I love this product, but I wish you didn't have to configure the paper for the bi-pass tray.
Set the main tray to 8.5x11 -> fine
The bi-pass tray should just tell you what it needs and when you click OK run. We have more trouble trying to run envelops, then 8.5x14, then checks. Trying to get it to print is a real pain.

Pretty good printer but have had some issues with the drivers
We purchased the C405 for our team a few months ago. The printer works well right out of the box, but we have run into some issues when a user attempts to print without having run the driver installation. What happens is that the printer errors, occasionally, and when it does, the only way to recover is to find the user who sent the print job without having run the driver installation, have them remove their job from the print queue, and then the only way to recover the printer is to cycle power to it. This has to be the dumbest dependency ever. Why can we not just cancel the print job and clear the error from the menu? Finding the source can be a pain sometimes, especially when someone from outside our team decides to send a job to this printer using the default Windows drivers. And even though the boot time is fairly quick, it is still a pain. Otherwise, it is a pretty nice printer.

Great all-rounder with great touchscreen
We needed a new printer to step up the quality, but at the same time we wanted to remove an old inkjet multifunction that we used mainly to scan. Couple of months in and we're really pleased with the scan to Google Drive app that was included. Quickly scans and loads directly to our shared Google Drive. I'm looking forward to seeing what new apps come along, but we're pleased to have replaced older printers with this. It's not the smallest of printers - but a lot smaller than lots the multiple machines previously. One other welcome thing was the way it plays nice with Macs, Windows and Apple iPads / iPhones etc... zero issues there. I'd recommend for any office that wants something easy and solid - hopefully it'll last for years.

This product is horrible. Jams all the time and practically impossible to clear without unplugging and restarting and losing all documents in queue. Buttons do not work most of the time. When you open the tray and insert checks to print, you must reset the machine. Same with printing labels. You have to manually change the type of paper before they will print. I just replaced this machine without a different product from a different company.

Not quite ready for prime time...
I was looking for a new printer to replace my workhorse Phaser 6180. That printer served tirelessly for over 12 years and only really needed to be replaced because Xerox stopped updating the firmware, rending it vulnerable to certain early SMB protocol security shortcomings. I was drawn back to Xerox because of this quality and my local dealer recommended the C405DN. Sadly, this is no 6180. First off, it’s slow. Slow to boot up. Slow to wake from standby. Slow to begin printing. Once printing finally begins the PPM and resolution are fine, but there are a growing handful of items that are just driving me crazy, and a few of these seem to have shown up for other purchasers. It seems to just fall offline while in standby (without wireless interruption and even though it’s actually hardwired into the same router as my computer) and has to be power cycled to recover. I’ve had situations where I power cycled it to bring it back on line, and got a single 2-page job printed before it fell offline again. I can’t seem to find a setting that allows me to stop the power button from blinking while on standby (the Phaser had a single steady light on a “Wake” button). The touch menu freezes several times a day (i.e. won’t respond to any menu selection – including “Reset”) and the unit has to be power cycled to recover. Configuring a paper tray to hold legal size paper apparently requires the tray to physically stick out from the unit. No documentation (printer or tray) shows this. Basic settings like paper size and quality (e.g. plain vs recycled) can’t seem to be changed in any simple, intuitive way, like selecting Device > Paper Trays. All in all, it’s just a fussy unit – not at all what I was expecting at this price point, and I miss the simplicity and reliability of the Phaser

Printer Tray Went Bad
I had this printer for 1 year and 4 months. At 4 months after the warranty expired, I had a permanent error there was a jam. So I took the printer to an authorized service person. Turns out the feeder tray went bad. The cost to replace the feeder tray was going to be $445. They recommended it was not worth replacing. We ending up recycling the entire printer. We now have to look for a new printer. What a waste.

Excellent printer, copier, scanner and fax machine!
I love my VersaLink C405. It does everything I need it to do, without fuss. I have had mine for a year now and have had no problems. Its basic functions are intuitive, and more complex operations can be set up with clear explanations from the extensive on-line help resources. At first, I worried that I had purchased a printer that was too overpowering for a home office. But I have since learned that this printer is perfect for a home office. It does not take up much more space than my previous all-in-one inkjet printer. It is just more robust, with much better print, scan, copy, and fax capabilities. It is cost-effective as well.

Great Printer / Poor Document Feeder
If you want a great printer this is it, good quality prints in color and black and white. But if you want it for scanning, faxing, copying then buy another printer. This one will drive you crazy with the pulling two pages at once every so often very unreliable in the document feeder area. Also, the service from xerox leaves a lot to be desired. Their answer is to clean the feeder (Done that, does not help) the answer they give is take packing tape wrap it around your hand and clean the rollers. I use an old Epson MFP to scan with as it works, might be a cheep printer but it scans great. So my recommendation if you only need a printer it’s over priced as just a printer if you need an MFP find a better one.

we have 3 of the same copiers to make up one unit!
We purchased our first copier a couple of years ago. We had multiple issues with it. A couple parts on the copier failed and had to be replaced, when printing we got a pink or yellow line down the middle of the page, it made a horrible noise when printing and another part needed to be replaced. We got it working and ordered another one for back up. We went with the same model because we didn't want to have 2 different operating systems and 2 different types of cartridges. The first machine now can only scan because the part to fix it with labor was going to be about what a new one would cost. We got the 2nd copier and then needed a back up since #1 was only used for scanning. So enters #3. The second and third ones work well for the most part but they have a real delay in printing from our desk across the room to the copier and several times a week one stops printing and we have to reboot it. The fax option also has to be toggled between both machines quite frequently because that stops working on one and we switch it out. So would I recommend this product to others? No. but we are getting by with what we have because we have a lot of money tied up in these machines.

This product is horrible.
This product is the worst printer I have ever used. If a tray is opened and checks added to the tray, you must reset the machine or it well not print. If you try to print labels or envelopes, you have to manually change your paper type to labels or envelope for it to print. When scanning or printing, if the printer jams, it is virtually impossible to reset the machine without turning it off. When restarting the machine, all documents in the print queue are deleted. The automatic document feeder top is always popping open and therefore creating a jam.

The VersaLink C405 has helped our workgroup increase productivity by providing multiuser document scanning and scan-to-email access in addition to quality printing of documents in color. Setup was straightforward and our staff likes the ease of use.

We purchased this printer over others for the features of 2-sided printing, color laser printing, multifunction, & wireless printing. It is very reliable & prints high quality. It had to be set up by a specialist and occasionally we need to contact them for assistance with something new. But for day to day use it is easy and reliable, which is the most important thing in the end.

Just what I was looking for!
I bought this almost 2 months ago and I am so glad that I did. It works perfectly. And when I needed help setting up and had questions the service dept with Xerox was very capable in helping me to get the best out of this machine. Wish the ink was a little less :-); but overall it is absolutely great. Love it Love it Love it!

We are very happy with our Printer
This printer is a nice upgrade from our previous office printer. We print about 500 pages per week in our small law office, and are consistently pleased with the VersaLink's quality and speed. We are able to print, copy, and scan using our wireless connection to our laptop computers.

Out of all the printers we have used in this office the Versa C405 has been the best! The speed, color quality and it being user friendly sends it over the edge. If I would recommend any printer it would be this one.

This product is easy to use and set up. However, this product uses a lot of ink and is expensive to run. I don't like that the fax function is so difficult to get to, and not compatible with certain operating systems.

Quality is great,but speed is sacrificed
We use this printer in my office for about 6 employees. We use all of the features that comes with this machine. Faxing, and printing are fine. It's a little annoying that the deafualt setting is for double siding copying, but that's easily fixed. However, my biggest issue is with the scanner. I'm not sure if I have this issue because of the way our network is set up, but everytime you have to update the network password, the scanner forces you to update the I.P address. That's very annoying.

Good company, but not this product!
I like the name behind the product, but it's not easy to navigate through the functions. You know something is good only by comparison, this is not even close compared to another brand/printer we use. this one brings much frustration. Like anything with time it does become easier.

Do not expect this machine to last
We purchased this printer in August 2017 to be used in a small business operation. We probably make less than 50 copies on average a day. Some days it may not even be used. Now it is August 2020 and we have put in three times as much money in parts and servicing these last 12 months than what we paid. We have replaced everything a customer can purchase from Xerox at least twice and the problems still persist. Our only option at this point is to pay for someone to come out at $250 for the first half hour and $69 for any additional hours plus parts to repair. This is unit is on sale now for $700. Last time the technician came out to replace a part that was NOT available to customers online we ended up paying over $500 for him to come out and service the machine. Now we are at exactly 3 years of ownership and we have to cut our losses instead of paying hundreds of dollars to fix this one when we can just buy new. If any one needs replacement parts that have literally not been used but are not returnable because the box was opened let us know. We will give you a great deal! Other than being a money pit it printed and scanned well...when it worked.

Great features and great customer service!
This Xerox copier/fax/scan machine has been a wonderful addition to our small office. It is very efficient and also when we have had questions Xerox customer service has been wonderful to work with. I would recommend this machine to any small/medium office.

Not User Friendly
Jams a lot. After jam, keeps spitting out paper with jibber jabber codes on it. Not happy. Had a Xerox Phaser, worked well.

Slow to wake up and too complicated
I have been repeatedly frustrated with this printer. I would like to be able to push a button to make a copy. With this I have to wake it up then push the copy button, wait, then push start to make a copy. I am sure it has some amazing computerized features but mostly we just print and make copies. The screen freezes often when trying to set up a special print or copy job. Then I have to restart it to get it to work again. Sometimes I have to unplug it to do that. I want a printer and copier, not another computer to constantly figure out. It does not tell me when it needs software updates via either the printer itself or through the computer app.

Great copier, but requires IT sophistication
I wanted a good hearty copier for my home office and tired off the cheaper copiers sold thru most retail. The Xerox Versa Link C405 has the robust construction and design I wanted, and it makes excellent affordable copies. But the level of sophistication and features the copier/printer processes, often present a problem for me in resolving error messages or understanding the multitude of options the copiers/printer offers. 98% of my needs are 8.5" by 11", but the minute I try to change paper thickness or print size you almost need to call in a IT specialist to reprogram the machine. Granted I am not technically adept and many that buy this machine actually might use these once in a lifetime print features, but I wish Xerox would have a master switch that you could engage to reset the printer to just the 98% everyday setting used by 99% of its customers. Great printer, but complicated for a novice even experienced novice to use. P.S. Great Xerox Service, a little plastic "hold down" broke and they sent me a replacement piece within 48 hours

Great quality printing and fair speed, But the main problem: No user friendly. Too complicate to use for a basis user. To do the right setting (fax, scan etc) you need a technician help. (time consuming, no goood) Please work on a really good interface easy to use and do the settings. The majority of other brands has a good interface to make it easy for the user. Thank you,

Complicated
I thought I was buying a top of the line printer. To our surprise it's not very user friendly. To many steps to to perform simple functions. We've had it for 2 yrs now and our office manager is comfortable using it, but wishes she had something different. I will replace this eventually.

Supper Scan
Our business requires us to scan files with several pages and the auto document feeder has been flawless. The color printing quality has been outstanding for client proposals and product brochures. We can easily switch to black and white to print forms.

This printer works very good. It's easy to use. You can do many different jobs in one machine. Scanning is very easy. Maintenance is easy. Switching to new cartridges is not hard to do. The notifications when there's a problem are really easy to understand. I definitively recommend the Xerox Versalink C405 PS.

Perfect for business from home
The C405 is the miniaturized version of what everyone has at their offices at work. It's fast, efficient, customizable and high quality. The only downside is the monopoly they have on ink and how much it costs. This is a great machine.

Great printer/scanner
I picked this multiuse printer for our work office because it can scan both sides at once and we are in the process of transferring our records to digital. I love how quickly it scans or makes copies. I also love that I can quickly scan documents directly to my desktop or to a flash drive. Other employees can print to my unit while in the building from their phone or laptop. The picture quality is wonderful. Very few jams, mostly when scanning large documents (over 50 pages.)

Everything, It is just a great printer
This is just a great printer. Our previous xerox was not very good at all. I was very hesitant about purchasing another xerox, but sure glad I did now. This one surpasses my expectations by far. There is no doubt that I would buy this model again.

Extremely difficult to setup, more difficult to get support.
I want to like this machine because it is heavy and the box broke after it was delivered. Other than that, i am not sure I can support keeping this unit for the average office without an IT department. The setup for this unit is very cumbersome and complicated. You can get it to print, but trying to setup connecting to a network or other basic MFP functions is impossible. I see people asking the same question over and over - How do you get the "Scan to ....." feature working and Xerox provides zero help or answers to this repeatedly asked question.

Excellent Print Quality
Print quality is excellent in Text, Graphics and Photo's. The 600x600 8 Bit Depth really outclasses some 2400x1200 or 2400x2400 1 bit depth higher resolution laser-printers. The 8 bit depth leads to some really nice transitioning and blending of colors opposed to 1 bit just being on or off per dot (toner or no toner). With this printer instead of the dot being just on or off it allows for up to 256 different shades of a single color on a single dot creating variable toner volumes which results in a much more accurate and blending color reproduction, the 8 bit depth is the main reason I bought this printer. As far as speed it cranks pages like crazy, while printing duplex after the first sheet is out there is another coming out right away to go back in to be duplex-ed. Scanning is pretty good as well, not the best but prettaaay prettaaaay prettaaaaaay pretty good. It can be a pain to setup if you do not know what you are doing but look at it this way, once you get everything setup it cranks page after page of high quality text and images. The other features as far as apps are the usual sort, I like the Translate app the most but don't really use the others except scan to E-Mail. A must buy, set it up properly and you will not be disappointed.

Clear, Clean Printing
The Versalink C405 is a solid printer. I have had this printer for about three months now and I am happy so far with its performance. It can handle big print jobs without overheating or problems. The color is true and the print quality is clean and clear. The jams that I have had have been easy to fix and then the printer is back to work. The only issues I have are small - there can be a definite lag time between pushing print on my computer and the printer actually beginning. Not a big deal though. Also, from what I can tell, the printer will only print on one side, but I am able to do two-sided copying. Overall, I think that this is a quality printer.

Some features will never be used. Honestly, it's a beautiful printer/copier/fax #everything in one but it is't for everyone. Love Xerox. Excellent brand and products.

This product is horrible.
This has been trouble from day one. It breaks down at least once a day. Have had IT working on it for weeks. Hate it. Tried to return it, but it was too late. We have been using alternate printers/scanners due to unreliability. Every time I print something I have to walk to another office. I would ratherdo that than have it jam and have to turn it off again to clear.

There is no other machine in the world that i LOVE more in my office than my Xerox C405. My overall rating is a 10 out of 5 stars! the quality of the print is exceptional and absolutely the clearest i have ever had the pleasure of printing. The Ease of use is great! the fact that i can print and scan at the same time makes it so useful for offices who have to or more people or for the Multi-taskers Absolute time saver! and, it is absolutely fast! the processing speed is unbelievable and its so quiet. i would like to thank Mr. Xerox for creating the very first copy machine. His legacy lives on! Happiest customer.

Good product with room for improvement
I really like this printer overall, well enough that I bought a second one, and am considering a third one. It is reasonably fast, has good quality output, and functions as it should. I added the accessory drawer. I am pleased with the print quality using non OEM toner as well. The downsides, the driver doesn't always choose the selected drawer, I wind up having to pull the drawer I don't want to use to force my checks to print from their drawer when doing cloud based printing. The network card is not built in, and is not user friendly set up. Not difficult, but not intuitive, you have to pull the directions (not included) and follow them. Once installed it works as it should, air print and similar functions work as they are supposed to .

This is a great product
Previously, we had a Brother printer which did not scan 8.5 x 14 documents properly. With the feeder of the Xerox, It is much easier and faster, especially with the screen feature where you can had your most popular email addresses.

Great Printer
This printer has served me well. Printing and copying are very easy and excellent quality. I have had no issues to date and since I have a tax practice it also has held up well. The only thing that I have an issue with is the cost of the toner for the machine and especially the high yield toners. I also have had some issue with the scanner set up but I very pleased with the operation of this printer to date.

Fantastic Color unit that is the workhorse you need!
Very satisfied with the C405. I needed a color unit that is really easy to use, but has a lot of features and capabilities to elevate a printer above the other units I had looked at from other printers. The app gallery is one of a kind and can be a huge help for document sharing. I needed a unit that could really pump out pages quickly and I found it in the C405. I would strongly recommend this printer.

This product has a great value for your bucks. It has great features that can be accessed via Xerox app which can be connected from your computer or laptop. Scanning & Printing quality are great which is the most usable function for most of the businesses. There a lot of other features and functions as well which can be customized as per the needs. We absolutely love this printer! In less than a year our last printer (Dell brand) could not keep up with the amount of prints we needed to create monthly for the 800+ students we service through our language and enrichment program. This Xerox c405 versalink is amazing! The quality of print, and fast printing has help us to become much more efficient! Plus with all the added features we are able to create some amazing things! Best purchase we have ever made!

Great Color, and a workhorse.
The xerox c405 runs great and has had no problems for me. The interface is easy to use and the toners last for a long time. The colors come out great and look vivid and almost lifelike. The only reason I would give it 4 stars is when printing from a computer the printer takes a minute to receive the print job, once the job is in process it prints perfect.

This printer is very fast and miles away from the old printer I use to have. It's efficient and prints clearly each time. I love the setting of jobs which notifies me what jobs are being conducted and if they are still pending. Also the fact that it gives you a notification when something is wrong on the computer and printer itself.

Overall we like the VersaLink C405. The ability to scan up to 100 pages/document is very useful. We've only experienced what seemed like a paper jam (which was just the feeder getting a little ahead of itself) when we've processed large batches. It's very helpful to be able to save contacts although I would like the menu to be a little more intuitive (never read any instructions which would no doubt help). It prints in beautiful color but the scan and print in color isn't as vibrant. It's our only machine with double sided capability so we rely on it for that for both scanning and printing. Also the scan and skip blank pages function is awesome! The only drawback for us is the cost of toner. Toner is very easy to change.

Printer/fax is very fast at printing, easy as far as faxing, but setting up the email options; not so easy.... The ink is expensive, you can only use xerox ink and it's hard to find in my area.

This is the best device we have in the office.
We wish every device we had in our office worked as seamlessly as Mr. Xerox. The ease of use is one of the advantages. We can press a button and get a scan, fax, or print job going quickly.

For its price, this product beats the competition
This product excels in performance and features. It is capable of doing virtually everything that a small business office would need, except perhaps for washing the dishes--and I'm not even sure it can't, since I haven't had time to read the entire owner's manual yet. The quality and speed of its printing is top notch. And if that weren't enough, the price made it quite affordable. My only complaint--if I had to make one--is that it has so many features that configuring some of them can be challenging without the help of technical support. Fortunately, I found them up to the task.

Good printer but expensive to maintain
The Xerox C405DN is a good printer but unfortunately the toner is very expensive. even using the high yield capacity cartridge don't last long making color printing very expensive. In conclusion the Xerox Versalink C405DN is a good printer for a small office but be prepared to spend few bucks in toner.

Great All - In - One
My previous printer "passed on" and I needed a printer that works fast and has pages ready when I need them. The printer was here before delivery and I appreciate that this printer is designed to work as hard as I do. The print is clear and precise and the coloring is beautiful. I did have some technical issues in the beginning but with no frustration due to the tech specialist assisting in such a timely manner I lost no time or work. Wishing I was a bit more tech savvy but it all worked out. Great printer and wouldn't mind if in the future it served it purpose and had to "pass on", I would just get the next upgrade of its kind.

So far, everything has been realy good.
The one thing I do not like is the second tray which sticks out and does not go flush with the machine. Also, I understand there was a cover for the part that sticks out, but it was not in the package. I returned the tray and decided to just change the paper when I need legal.

I don't want to rate the printer until I actually see it printing.
Our IT tech with "help" from Xerox still hasn't got it working. I bought this reading that it was user friendly. That's probably the case when installing to one computer but not so much when installing on a network.
All the Xerox tech people know how to do is read the instructions on the website...yeah, we can do that.
So it's been two weeks trying to get the printer up and running. One star for now...

Unable to Use
We received the unit fairly quickly and it was easy to set up. Unfortunately, we can only use it to print, our tech team has been attempting to fix the issues but so far no luck. At this point we are pretty close to returning everything.

Printer quality is great but the quick connect to your Apps was problematic. Since purchasing I have had only one week of complete function of this printer. Right now the scanner worked for the first 5 scans now it jams every single time. The main reason I purchased this device was to scan to my google drive account. I have scanned about 5 so far that have completely worked. It goes into sleep mode after 15 min meaning I have to log in every time I step away during a scanning batch and have to log back in. Set up was awful, to say the least. XEROX showed my printer already registered to someone else so I could not get any support because I was not in their system. It was over 3 weeks before I actually was able to use it for the reason I purchased it for. Now 4 weeks in the printer will not scan without jamming. I believe this was a return/refurbished because it was registered and the stamp date was over a year ago. My conclusion is they put it back in the original packaging as new and shipped it out to one of their vendors to deal with.

I honestly was a little skeptical at first, but I LOVE my Xerox printer/scanner! The quality is great, it is easy to use and I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever with it at all! I am actually saving money with this printer than I was ordering ink for my other HP printer! I would definitely recommend leasing a machine from Xerox!

Feeder jams a lot
The document feeder jams often. When it jams you must figure out where it stopped copying as it does not print all of the pages that went through before the jam. Using the feature that is suppose to remember where it stopped copying, proved to be aggravating so I delete the job when it jams. In all fairness to the printer, my company uses economy paper and probably not one that is recommended for the device.

Love my C405!
So, the very first thing I noticed about this printer is how quietly it operates...compared to my last dinosaur copier, at least! It is very quick to print, scan, copy. And you don't have to be a rocket scientist to work the "command board". Has a handy little gem clip tray. It has a reasonably small footprint for equipment of this quality. I have been using it for a couple of months now and have had no issues. I am pleased with my purchase. Thanks, Xerox, you've come a long way!

This is without a doubt the best copier we have ever had and used in my almost 40 years in the firehouse. It is simple to operate, copies come out perfect, and has features such as ease of emailing documents to others. You can print wirelessly from other work stations, and one feature I like the most is being able to print straight from my phone. Saves time from logging onto a computer. Another great feature is the ability to keep up with the supplies you need for the printer itself. No need for someone to run to a place and get toner or ink. It is sent automatically. That’s definitely time management for sure. We liked this printer so much we actually bought a second one for the station!!

Excellent for Small Office
We use this printer for our Homecare Services startup. We have a print volume of around 3000 pages a month and it handles it well without any issues. Setting up the printer is not easy though, and I still can't get the Scan to Email function working. Faxes work great.

Overall one of the better printers I have owned
Replaced the 8560mpf with the C405. The added Wi-Fi printing and other features are an improvement however I prefer the quality of the solid ink especially for photographs which is no longer available. The C405 is a great unit for the cost and certainly has all the required features for a home or small office. The only fault is that the keypad touch screen is a bit sensitive and the numbers are very close together which often results in phone/email info being entered incorrectly. A slightly larger keypad and user interface would have resulted in a 5 star 10 rating Also the supplies are a bit pricey

This product has everything needed for a small office!
I ordered this product for my home office; we have a larger Xerox machine at our corporate office and in fact we have only had Xerox machines their for the last 30 plus years. Xerox products have always been reliable with low cost of operation and 24/7/365 support. Our sales representative is very knowledgeable and regularly checks on us to make sure we are satisfied. I couldn't be happier with my new Xerox Versalink C405 machine; it copies, faxes, scans and emails. Setup and use of this product is super easy and I was surprised to find how reasonably priced it was considering all of its many features. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. On a scale of 1 to 10 it is definitely a 10 in my book.

I am happy with the C405, as it prints well and is fast. But we do have issues that make the C405 problematic. The scan feature works okay, but getting it set up to work was a real pain. We had to contact your technical support team to get it set up. Then the technician had to take over control of my laptop. Another problem is the control panel. It should be easier to use. But the screen gets locked at times so that we cannot use the printer.

Had to hire a technician to install, not an easy task. After two hours he gave up setting up the SMTP settings to allow for scan to email. A call to XEROX technical support which lasted over an hour could not solve the problem. Machine was sent back to Xerox. Could not get an official xerox technician to install the machine on Cape Cod.

Best Multifunction Printer I have ever used
The printer is fast, and does not need 1 minute to warmup as long as it is kept plugged in. The colors of printed photos are almost as seen on the computer screen and the detail is cannot be beaten. The scanner is super. Re Initial Setup: The best thing to do when you get the printer is to have Xerox set it up as you may get confused with the instructions. The printer is really well made. There are some parameters to remember, like you can turn your photo to be scanned in different directions, but remember to select the orientation so it will be the correct way up. You will love yourself for buying this multi-function printer.

Fast and Accurate
We've used many brands of printers, and keep coming back to Xerox. So when it was time to replace our aging Phaser color printer, we went with the Versalink MFP. It has performed great. We love the ability to scan directly to our network folder with one button, It is pretty easy to use with one exception. The firmware makes you tell the printer the exact type of paper you have loaded when you load paper in either of the trays. So, if you don't have that EXACT paper selected from your application. This thing will not print. To get it moving you have to take time to get the printer and the driver to agree on your paper type. Xerox may call this a feature, but it is a serious time waster. I don't want my printer second guessing me on what forms or paper I have loaded - JUST PRINT! If I have the wrong paper or form loaded, I'll figure it out. For this reason I took off a star on, "Ease of Use." Xerox needs an override feature that allows you to print regardless of the paper you have loaded. Perhaps they will get the message and do a ROM update. Otherwise, we love this printer!

Great for Office Use
We have used this printer at our office for over 2 years now and it is the absolute best. It's a busy environment that requires plenty of paperwork and we all get by perfectly. Multifunctional: print, scan, copy, fax, etc. Love the touch screen, it makes teaching new staff how to navigate it so much easier. Recommend for an office of 10 people in finance or law.

Scans Jams all of the time. Printer sounds horrible
I use this multifunction printer primarily for the dual pass scanning feature. I scan thousands of documents per year. Unfortunately, nearly 100% of them scan crooked, it jams all of the time. With my old xerox mf printer, I could "resume" at the jam point. This one requires a "reload" of all documents, just for it to jam a the same point. At the same time, I have very limited prints on this machine, yet it squeaks and squeals every time we print something. I assume it will break soon and I will find a much cheaper printer of another brand so solve my problems. Maintenance on these machines is more expensive than finding a suitable new printer.

Do me a favor and don't buy this printer!!!! there are far better ones on the market and I assume they come with a solid customer service and care for almost 900€.

This product has the best print quality of any other brand of printer that I have used.
This printer is used to support a small business and is excellent. It is easy to set up and works like a charm. There have been no maintenance issues in the months that this printer has been in use. This printer replaced both a Brother laser printer (which was good) and an HP laser printer (which was terrible) and is more than capable of handling the workload of both printers. This is the only printer that I have ever reviewed and it is also the only printer that I intend to use for the business going forward,

Terrible Machine.
We have owned this product for a little over 2 years and it never works. We have bought new print cartridges because it says it needs one before it prints again and the printer will not work. We also contacted customer support because the machine said that we needed to replace the yellow cartridge, which we did 3 times (yes we had to buy three yellow cartridges) and the problem still exists. We received a response from the company that they can send someone out for $299 for the first 30 minutes and $69 for every 15 minutes after that, plus the cost of materials and tax. I would not buy this printer if you are in the market and let me say, I do not write reviews on any product but when I spend $1000 on something that doesn't work I will gladly take the time.

2 Major Issues
I have two major issues with this printer. The first is that this is the only printer on our network that takes 5-10 seconds for the print dialog box to show up. Then, once print is pressed, it takes another 10 seconds to print. Once the print is going, it prints fast, but sending it to the printer is a PAIN. I have tried MANY different things to fix this and nothing works. The second major issue I have with this printer is the toner. Xerox has made it to where it will detect an off-brand cartridge, forcing you to purchase genuine Xerox toners. I guarantee you will spend as much on the toner as you will on the printer within one or two months of owning the printer. Guarantee. It has forced us into a situation where we have to refill the existing cartridges, which is annoying and messy. It is an abomination to see how much toner is left in the cartridge when it is forcing a refill. I thought this printer would solve our problems and be perfect. I had high hopes. Those hopes are crashed and now we must suffer with this printer until we are willing to spend a lot of money in search of the perfect printer for our needs. I would NOT recommend this printer to anyone.

Excellent Printer With Cheaper Toner Cartridges
Upgraded from the Xerox WorkCentre 6605. Printer is working fine after 1-2 months, equally as speedy and high in print quality as the 6605. As with my prior printer, the VersaLink C405DN is linked to Xerox's SuppliesAssistant, making ordering of new cartridges and supplies easy and with automated warnings, as well as promised repair if I need it (which I've not yet needed).
Mike Murnane, with Xerox, was extremely helpful in notifying me that with an upgraded printer my cartridges would cost me less, hence my new purchase. His follow-up has been terrific.
The Mac driver allows me to easily scan wirelessly as well as print.

I would recommend this product the MF features on the machine saves me time, because I run my part business out of my home and having a reliable source to do my every day business/clerical needs, instead of having to go to a Staples or Office Depot, is a great time saver for me.

Nothing but problems with this printer
I run a busy mental health practice and chose this printer because of the large memory and ability to set our faxes to email to us rather than print because we are all electronic. This feature has never been able to work despite many hours and many phone calls with Xerox. We have also spent hundreds of dollars with IT support of our own to see if there is something internal. No one can fix this problems. Staff have had ongoing and constant problems with he printer printing and loosing it connection. We then have to uninstall and reinstall the printer hoping this works. More recently we have computers which can not find the printer and have had to rely on old printers to do our printing jobs. Xerox has not helped to fix these problems and we will be need to return to HP.

Every time we print, the paper tray option always pops up, you have to press the button "ok" to print even though we already set paper tray preference. and the scan set up is too difficult. Even though our company's IT Administer could not figure it out how to set up the scanner. We used it for more than a year still cannot set up the scanner functions - like scan to email, scan to folder...

Our overall experience with Xerox products has been good, and the Xerox VersaLink C405 has been good on average to us, there have been some faulty parts like the rollers but it's the same issues we had on the Xerox 6605 and are all fixable. The fuser seems to also cause some problems but out of 8 printers we had only 1 have that issue so it could have just been a faulty fuser. Using it is easy, but there are some tasks like scanning that have some issues with different computers. It's a good printer with toner and has lowered our cost on toner drastically compared to the 6605.

Great laser printer / copier / scanner / fax that also supports loading two paper sizes simultaneously (w/ optional second paper tray)
We needed a new multifunction laser printer (w/ copier / scanner / fax) that prints in color and b&w, that also supports loading regular and legal sized paper simultaneously. The C405 VersaLink fits the bill perfectly.
Only drawback so far is that we wish we'd known in advance that the legal size paper tray would stick out of the front of the printer when loaded with paper. That's not ideal, but it's also not a big problem once we got used to it. Still, a redesign there might be helpful.
Anyhow, the printer works great -- was fairly easy to setup (but probably not for total novices) -- and is doing its job well so far. We're very happy with the purchase.

This printer all-in-one performs all of its functions/jobs beautifuly, and with ease of use. It has tons of features which makes all jobs more efficient. I use it in my home office. I am so glad I purchased this printer. When first considering my purchase of this printer I was worried that it would be a bit much for a home office. It turns out that it is just right. I have had this printer for a year now and have had no difficulties whatsoever with it. The printing is professional level as is all the other functions/jobs it does. It will even scan material into a particular folder on my computer, or to email. What an efficient way to help me stay organized. I have also set it up to print from and scan to my laptop and phone. I really like all the offical Xerox how-to videos available on-line and the many other support resources available, free of charge. This printer is built to last. It is not one that you would buy and replace in a year or two.This has been my most cost-effective printer purchase to date. Other printers may be less expensive to purchase, but the cost of operating them and their reliability do not provide the same value as this printer.

I have enjoyed the printing to google drive, ease of scanning, and fast print speeds. The feeder tray feeds correctly for printing checks in order without having to reverse them and I have been able to produce my work faster. This printer has good features and settings that enable me to operate more efficiently. Love it!

When the machine is running properly it is good. The settings sometime change and then things go a little crazy. It seems to use a lot of toner. The cartridges are smaller but they are more costly then my older copier/printer. When it runs out you really need to have some on hand. It shuts completely down.
The service is excellent. It may have taken then a while to figure out what ways going on with my ever changing settings but they responded every time.

Prints very well and quickly. The issue is the interface is terrible. The scan routine is so bad that we implemented a third-party app to control scanning. If Xerox fixes the interface and makes it easier to control, then this machine will be supreme in its class.

The control panel is much like an iPad with apps you can add or delete. Very nice. Works great, very fast super versital and the easiest device I have ever set up. The wizard was amazing. I only held back on the 5 star rating as I have only had the machine 3 weeks.

great All-In-One Upgrade
We have had this new printer for 4 weeks now. It is definitely an upgrade from our 2015 Dell model. I love that it can duplex scan in a single pass and that it holds an entire ream of paper in the tray. It is also nice that it uses less power draw and doesn't heat up as much as our last printer. The print quality is great to the point that in an instance we couldn't tell which was the original.
The things that keep it from a 5 star are the following...1)Since it is in low power mode all the time, it takes longer for the print job to initiate. 2)About once per week we have had to restart it because it will stop printing any PDF's. 3)In the Admin set-up it asks for a password that I do not have and can't figure out how to get the factory password.
Overall, this is a great printer and I was thankful that CDW was able to have it shipped to me within a few days.

Support is horrible
I purchased directly from Xerox and qualified for their Concierge program where you receive a lifetime warranty if you purchase replacement supplies directly from Xerox. Well, it turns out, that my machine is registered to someone else, I cannot get support, have to go in circles between their different departments, and they are clueless about even getting my machine(s) registered properly. Good product by not worth the non-existent support.
