Pool robot cleaner, smart washer/gas dryer, ice machine, sprinkler system control, etc. These are users we have had damage to before and what prompted us to install these Isobars. I can only say since using and protecting this equipment with Isobar, we haven't lost a piece. Our area has its share of power surges, brown outs, and "dirty power" when on home emergency generator. These Isobar units seem to be working fine. 1 less star only because of how the Isobar 2 doesn't interface well with outlets. Hope they can find a better way for these to mount more securely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Surge Suppressor I wanted a well built surge suppressor, from a reputable company ... Tripp Lite seems to have delivered. It is a very sturdy metal boxed unit that installs/mounts well (including an optional "strap" mount that mechanically stabilizes the unit - although it is really built for dual socket outlet mounting (single outlets need to be modified)). Over time we will see how well it suppresses ... but it seems like a great investment at the moment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serves its purpose This was purchased and recently installed to power up a gas water heater for which I had a dedicated receptacle available and needed to protect a single piece of equipment. I needed the surge protection to protect the expensive electronics in the water heater. A not costly investment to reasonably avoid the possibility of a far more expensive water heater repair down the road. It's sort of oversized but it makes no difference for my application. It is solidly constructed and Isobar products have a good reputation. Time will tell if if provides good service over a period of time.

It's very industrial looking and has two green LEDs that glow continuously....noticeable in a dark room. I wanted a compact surge arrest device. Most surge power bars have 6' of cord or more which for me just gets in the way. As with all of these devices you'd have to be looking at it during a surge event to see it working.

This 2nd one is protecting a $2500 washer and dryer with electronics. It means I don't have to pull the plugs from the wall between laundry days, and I know that Tripp Lite is on the job!

Examples such as microwave oven, toaster oven, instapot appliances, etc. Some of these have been in service for over as decade in a semi-rural environment prone to lightning and utility surges. None of this equipment has been disabled by electrical surges thus far. The robust constuction and monitoring function give positive reassurance that the Isobar Surge Protector is more than capable of fulfilling it's intended function.

I have found these surge protectors to work reliably, though I guess I haven't experienced any power surges big enough to knock the protection out. Would buy again!

It runs 4 hrs a day on a timer. I've used "appliance" surge protectors in the past, but they only seem to last about 6 months and fizzle. I liked the reviews and build of the Isobar model.

It is a bit heavy but I've put a tie down around it to keep the protector in place. I like the green lights to insure that the unit is working.

Several outdoor led area lights and a newer digital display freezer were lost even though there were whole house suppressor in the main an sub panels. We added Iso-bar outlet suppressors to these items and have survived two additional outages without damage. These units are simple to use and protected digital and electronic items not normally considered for surge suppression.

The all-metal construction is appreciated as are the easy-to-see LEDs showing operating status at a glance. The warranty extension to the equipment being protected coupled with a reasonable price makes this a no-brainer.

The Isobar 2 has a clamping voltage of 330 which I've seen to be the "gold standard". For less than $40 you simply can't go wrong

Con - Model number, while on the unit, is not identified as the model number. I had a difficult time trying to determine which of the many numbers on the tags was the actual model number so I could find it on the website to register it. Putting something like "Model No." in front of the model number would help. I have not had a lightning incident yet so I can only assume it works.

I use one for each major appliance... 2 freezers, 2 refrigerators, washing machine, etc., and I keep a spare since my wife said one "blew up" one time. I wasn't in town, and she got rid of the evidence before I could investigate. The electrical outlet was in perfect condition. The washing machine was in perfect condition. All I can imagine is that there was a surge (perhaps lightning), the surge protector did its job, and it stopped working. Perfect! I will keep buying more if necessary, but we've had them for years with only the one (reasonable) loss.

It's only been a brief period of time so far. I live off the coast of South Carolina. Storms & power surges tend to be a regular thing particularly during hurricane season. Time & weather will provide the ultimate test & consequently tell the tale. Until then I feel there's some additional protection.

Also all appliances with circuit boards. The extra protection of this was recommended by my plumber for my tankless water heater. CAUTION two will not fit in a 4 plug outlet (I have three zones. Order the four prong and mount it on the wall. Now I can rest easier. Hopefully I will not lose $6000 next surge. The warranty should cover that if anything get through this baby.

This unit eliminates the ungainly mess of a power strip with 6 ft. cord. However when the phone side blows and the electrical side is still working the indicator lights still show protection is present. I do have experience with this issue. Would also be nice if the phone plugs faced down so as to avoid a power supply plug. Overall excellent product.

Yvonne in claims helped me through the whole process. Shipped a new unit free of charge to me the day I called, 30 days later they approved the claim. No fuss, no muss. Yvonne answered all my questions, was VERY helpful and friendly, walked me through what I needed to do.

I have used an ULTRAFAX, as well as other Tripp-Lite Isotel and Isobar Surge Suppressors, for years with no problems with surge suppression or interference with either voice or DSL.

These are heavy duty, high quality devices that look good and have a great warranty. The only thing I experienced was they are a little to thick to fit in some applications.

It was creating a large amount of electrical noise and when on it would jam my DSL internet to the point of it cutting out. Before purchasing I contacted Tripplite's customer support directly to confirm if this was the right product for me. Their agent was incredibly helpful and confirmed this is what I needed. It solved all my problems as soon as it was connected.

Being that a treadmill is mostly steel, the thought of it not being on a GFCI receptacle scared me. I had also read not to put a treadmill on a GFCI receptacle, the reason was that treadmills generate static electricity because of the moving belt and then the static is dispersed through the ground of the receptacle. When this happens the GFCI receptacle will kick out. The Isobar Surge Protector alleviates this problem. Not one single GFCI kick out.

Great warranty, solid construction, and ease of product registration are some highlights. It is also very nice to have the indicator lights showing that your device is protected.

Seemed like good advice because there are a lot of storm related power outages and surges in our area of Oklahoma. I chose these over cheaper alternatives for its overall ruggedness and power rating. I also like that it has rubber feet on the bottom to keep it level and snug to the wall and outlet and hardware to keep it attached to outlet.

I purchased this for a new combi-boiler I just had installed to protect its CPU. Great compact design, and I love the indicator lights. One demerit only because I reached out to customer support via email and got no reply. Otherwise it would have been 5-star.

You can plug it into an outlet that your appliance is plugged into instead of having a bar type with 6-8 outlets. It also has an anchor attachment to secure it to the outlet being used if you need to unplug the appliance itself. It is a metal casing instead of plastic and is well made. The cost is also reasonable when comparing to other models and brands. One of the 3 that I purchased was defective so I contacted customer service and after answering a few questions and determined it was the unit and not an outlet or electrical issue, they sent me a new one by FedEx and didn't have to return the defective one. The company also insures against any damage to your appliances. I am very pleased with the service. Need I say more?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this product For many years I've been buying Tripp-Lite products... chiefly within their ISOBAR line. Their products work and the company stands by them (...years ago lightning TOTALLY fried one of my protectors but none of my equipment protected by it was touched, and Tripp-Lite replaced the damaged unit free of charge... more recently, another one "died of old age" and they replaced that one, too.) This one appears no less robustly constructed and has the LED indicators showing if it's powering AND if it's protecting. I love that it's small and designed to plug into a wall outlet without a cord. Except for The Traveler, all my other units are corded, designed to lie flat or be mounted somewhere. This one is out of the way and convenient. It doesn't plug into both outlets at the wall as some devices do, thus providing an extra outlet: 2 protected outlets on the unit, and the other (unprotected) outlet at the wall. Definitely a favorite. And, yes, I do recommend these products.

It is being used in the kitchen island where it is protecting a built-in microwave and my wife's Kitchen Aid mixer. I like the fact that it's not made out of flimsy plastic, and has display LED's so I can check on it from time to time.

I use this unit to protect my combi boiler that almost got wiped out by power surges associated with a storm over Christmas. I installed a hardwired HVAC suppressor inline that should do the job, but the boiler itself has a plug on the end of the power cable, so I used the isobar for that as another line of defense. Time will tell, but so far so good. We've had another outage since installation, and no issues. The unit seems well made, and I like the metal mounting clip so nothing can knock the unit off by accident.

It gave me peace of mind thinking this was sufficient to protect all that is plugged in. And to some extent, it is but with today's expensive high-tech electronics, appliances, computers, smart TVs, etc., having a protector on each device, or "at the source" as it has been suggested, is the best protection all around. To this point, when I upgraded my HVAC system, I installed a surge protector on the outdoor AC compressor, and one on the furnace in the attic. This got me thinking of all the things I got plugged into a wall outlet, which brings me to the Isobar. I needed a reputable device to protect my refrigerator, as well as my printer. After checking the amperage, wattage, etc., the Tripplite Isobar was the perfect solution! I have since added smaller surge protectors to my indoor security cameras, coffee machine, robot vacuum, Alexa, and a few other devices. All said and done for less than $150, I view the added surge protectors and the two Isobars as peace of mind and inexpensive insurance.

It has a high level of protection, and fits well in an area where I only had two devices to protect and didn't want or need a long cord running around. The only thing that prevented it from getting five stars is that the plug slots are really tight, I couldn't plug the protector into the wall and then plug my TV into it. I had to take it out of the wall, push the TV cord hard to get it in to the slots, then plug the protector into the wall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent unit. I found two wiring issues in my home-read on I've only been using this surge protector for a few weeks now-for a new Washing Machine we purchased. The new washers have a lot of electronics to protect. I plugged this unit into some outlets in my kitchen prior to installing it in our laundry room. It worked well and showed two green lights showing everything was working properly. When I plugged the unit in our laundry room outlet the red light on the unit came on indicating a fault. After turning off the circuit breaker I removed the outlet and discovered that it was wired incorrectly-The hot wire was connected to the silver screw and the white wire was connected to the brass colored screw-reverse of what it should have been. I bought a new outlet (the old one was 19 years old) and wired it correctly and received two green lights when I plugged the unit back it. I also checked the other outlets in my house and discovered another outlet was incorrectly wired--the brass and silver screws of the outlet were actually on the wrong side (reversed). I corrected this condition and reconnected the wires and got two green lights when the unit was plugged back in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from When you want to get more serious about surge protection I have several of these, just added one to protect a high-end electronic sewing machine. To me, anything less is just not worth it. I like the additional circuitry, I like the metal case, indicators for failed protection... because these products will fail after absorbing a certain amount of surge, you want to know when that happens. You might want to go higher-end for something like a big entertainment center, it's not a bad idea to budget 5% of equipment cost on surge protection. But, for basic protection, this is the minimum and it's a great value.

The way it mounts, you actually get and extra receptacle position on a duplex receptacle which is allows you to use the top half of the unprotected receptacle for temporary connected devices like a vacuum cleaner. Have now installed isobars at all locations were electronics or high value equipment is connect to 110v. So far they have done their job and protected connected equipment during two near strike lightning events. Equipment on a non-isobar protector was damaged during the last lightning event.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed I am not aware of any surges so far so I can't comment on how well it works but Tripplite has an excellent reputation and I expect it to do the job. We have had several Tripplite products in the past and they have all worked well. The nice thing about this is that it can be secured with a screw to the outlet. A nice feature when the outlet is on the ceiling (this is for a garage door opener). It feels like it is high quality with solid construction, not like some of the lightweight consumer models.

It has receives very good reviews and I purchased two, one for the fridge and the other for a smart washing machine and gas water heater igniter. The only problems I ran into was securing to the receptacle because the weight of the surge protector caused it to hang over and try to unplug from the wall socket. The included hanger bracket didn't work, but I had a piece of muffler hanger metal strip that I bent and screwed to the wall and bent it over top and slightly over the front of surge protector and that did the trick. Tripp-Lite products have been reliable for me in the past and don't expect any different from this one.

FPL dropped a high voltage line on the residential lines leading to our sensitive network and camera equipment. Our power company's accident burned out a roadway security gate system that was piggy backed off of the circuit that ran our equipment. (Their electrical equipment turned to cinder) Must of been a massive surge - it burned out every last appliance plugged into any outlet in the neighboring homes too, and set a palm tree on fire. Except for our network and camera equipment which monitors a bridgeway. It's all perfectly fine, minus one self-sacrificed Isobar which now smells like a campfire. Thank's Tripplite!! Amazingly, it was even ID'ing that the line was fine after it was repaired, but the isobar was not passing any power to our equipment after the Zzzap! I have been purchasing Tripp-Lite equipment for decades, and it never fails to beat my expectations. Our customer was extremely happy to hear their network and camera gear didn't need to be replaced. Also mentioned to our techs to purchase Tripplite surge suppression on all the equipment we sell and maintain from here on out. I am now shopping to purchase a replacement Isobar. Solid 5+++ star on this product.

Because this is the most difficult "appliance" in my home to install AND the extended warranty does not cover surges UNLESS there is a surge protector installed I went with this model and am well insured. BTW, the Friedrich unit has a normal 110v plug so this matched my needs perfectly.

I've heard of some folks breaking the plastic backing off, but i imagine it's due to weight over time, or tweaking it at an odd angle. The only reason not 5 star, is that it sticks out from the wall quite a bit. If it wasn't behind an appliance, I wonder if bumping it would snap the plastic.

In my particular case, my laundry space for washer & Dryer is very tight and once I plug-in the surge protector to the outlet and I plug in the appliances to it, I will not be able to close the door.

Since I bought my first Tripp Lite product 7 years ago I use nothing but their brand anymore, replacing the previous units (rhymes with "burman") that I used to own. I use the Isoblok for my amps and the Isobar 12 units for my rack gear in my home studio (PCM90, PCM70, Joemeek VC1Q, HD24, etc.).

This distance is too great when using behind standing appliances or behind furniture. Put the outlets on the side of the case.

The Repairman said our resistors were bulging due to to fluctuations in current feeding our TV, most likely from minor drops/surges in voltage when people in the neighborhood cycle their A/C units, etc... He strongly recommended buying the Tripp-lite suppressors. So we bought three of these dual outlet jobs, along with a couple of 4 and 6 outlet models and have all of our valuable electronics plugged into them. We've had them in place for the last three years with no problems.

In the time we have had the triplite surge protector, the problems we were having with one of our outlets causing various small appliances to act up (displays blinking, going blank, just strange things). It wasn't just with one small applicance, it was with any small applicance I plugged into that outlet. I decided to try the triplite surge protector as a possible cause to the problem. It must have been because as soon as I plugged the triplite into the outlet and secured the triplite, I haven't had he problem since with any of my small applicances.

That line conditioner functioned flawlessly for over 15-years. The only reason I discarded it is because my present backup power unit has built-in power conditioning. Its clamping voltage is as low as it can be from an engineering standpoint and it's energy-absorption is reasonable for a device of it's size and cost--1410 Joules.

I have various protected home devices from big buck, all electronic refrigerators to computers and now added one more to protect a large array of electronic test equipment. Not a small investment as I am an electrical engineer. I had a lightening hit that totally cooked one Blok a couple years back downstream from gas tube "protection" in the breaker box..LOL?? It was harsh inside when I did a post mortem … however it saved a $3000 CAD workstation and probably three man days of replacement headaches plus the opportunity cost of missed, billable time. They work, price is right … a must have. I recco them to all my customers. Bruce

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product . Great protection! I am using this Surge Protector for my Treadmill. I have had no issues with the usage since I installed this unit. It appears to be very well constructed. I have used several Tripp Lite products in the past and the have been excellent. Highly recommended.
