Essential protection for electronics
We use only TRIPP LITE for valuable electronics protection.
For example, in the photo, an Alesis drum set and an Alesis drum strike amp are protected. The house wiring is three wire with a good ground.
Protecting our valuable electronics this way is much less expensive than installing the protection at the circuit breaker.

A reliable product!
This is my second unit, installed to protect expensive veterinary diagnostic machines on our lab benchat my animal hospital. My first protects my home speed queen washer which, when utility transients scramble the motherboard, is non-functional until the effects can be bled off and the unit rebooted. Both Isobars are functioning 100%, the one for 3 years!

This is our second Isobar 2-Outlet Surge Protector. First one blew when 3 huge electrical surges hit, and the circuit board of our Harman P43 Pellet Stove that was plugged into it was damaged/blown also. To be fair, we had other brand surge protectors that also blew and one actually smoldered and melted. I did not report the damage to Isobar. I recently inquired and asked to have the surge protector replaced. They did so without hesitation. The previous Isobar 2-Outlet surge protector was in use for 3 years, prior to the incident.

Nice unit, but didn't fit the bill
I bought this for a new treadmill we purchased which instructed us to use a surge protector, and it listed specifics to follow-- this Isobar product fit the required specs and it fit the space where we needed it to go. The problem is that this surge protector seems to slow down the Wi-Fi connection of the treadmill (it's an iFit program where you select workouts and follow trainers on recorded programs around the world). I'm no engineer or electrician, so I don't get it, but empirically the treadmill video buffers WAY more when we use this Isobar.

Although this has sort of an industrial look I like it! It allows you to utilize both plugs on a single gang box or all four plugs on a double gang box. And you get an extra outlet to boot. I now feel comfortable plugging my computer and stereo gear into the wall and not worrying about frying them every time there's a thunder storm. I have a whole house surge protector as well so this is insurance that pays off for once. Love them and will probably get one or two more as time goes by.

Have been using Tripp-Lite surge protectors for years
This is the second one of these Isobar 2-Outlet surge protectors we have purchased. We bought one years ago for our Sub-Zero fridge because we have a generator that goes on from time to time due to power outages and then surges. Never had a problem. Recently replaced our freezer; a few weeks later another outage/surge and one of neighbors' central HVAC had a burned out condenser. I realized we had no surge protector for our brand new freezer so bought one, plugged it in, and sure enough two brief outages, generator on, no problems with freezer. Also have Tripp-lite protectors for all electronics in the house.

A surge protector with a high reputation that I would buy.
This Isobar 2 outlet surge protector is being used on a small countertop oven due to all the electronics in it. Not sure how to review something like a surge protector, when you think about it a person can't review it properly if a big surge never entered into it to see how well it does its job. I do know from reviews I read that this unit, and other Isobar units, did get high reviews who tested various surge protectors, so I've always bought Tripp-Lite Isobar surge protectors, I have one for my TV, DVD player, another for a refrigerator, and another for the washer and dryer because all of those use processors that if they blow due to a surge, they may not be fixable which means you'll have to buy a new product(s). As far as I know Tripp Lite Isobars are the only surge protectors made of steel outer shell which would prevent it from melting down from a major surge like a lightning strike that would melt plastic units. I think that Tripp Lite Isobar surge protectors have a great reputation, and that is worth considering buying their products.

So far this product works but could be improved, hence 4 *
I have this plugged into the wall and then directly to my PC system which has an 850W power supply pulling 10A and have my monitors plugged into a power strip connected to the second plug which are pulling 3A. The location on the unit to then plug into the wall socket is offset by about 1 inch from the top of the wall socket frame. It would have been nice to have it fit completely over the wall socket and not hang an inch below it from a design perspective. Also from a stability point, the rubber bumper works but it looks like it could disconnect since there is only 1 plug into the wall and the weight is bottom heavy. Why not use a plastic non conducting plug to connect both outlets and provide more stability for the unit given its weight????? Again a design issue I bring up.

I Repair large flat screen tv's. They are very hard to get up and down in some locations. Since useing this product I have had less repairs from power surges and phase loss. And less strian from mounting units back in place. This has been a wonderful product for my customers and kind of a loss of business for me.

The ultimate protection!
Our church sanctuary is in a lightning prone area and we've taken several close and direct hits. I use the Ultrablok units to protect our audio and video equipment stations. We recently suffered a strike which took out some other equipment but the TrippLite protected equipment went unscathed! I wouldn't hesitate recommending the TrippLite Ultrablok unit to others.

I read several reviews on this surge suppressor and it looks to be just what I needed to protect expensive electronics at the wall. If it had Japanese capacitors it would be premium as they are the best in the industry but the reviews show its a good unit.

I've used Isobar surge suppressors for all my electronics that don't need a UPS for decades. For this TV installation I didn't want to look at cables running down to a cabinet so I went with the 2 outlet Isobar and mounted my AppleTv to the back of the tv.

Always had good luck with Tripp Lite products; never had any problems...using this one as surge protector for battery back-up sump pump charger. Highly recommended.
One odd thing, the screw that connects the Tripp Lite to a support bracket only goes in about two threads rather than screwing in securely. Not up to Tripp Lite's usual attention to detail.

Worth the investment
We purchased this unit to protect controller board and power transformer of our home HVAC unit after we experienced a series of voltage surges from SCE. The repair cost for the transformer alone was ~$450, so the Isobar is a good investment against any future power line disturbances. Replacement of the control board would have costed over $1,000.

Frequent Hydro interruptions in this locale, often they're momentary outages. Hydro restores with a substantial voltage peak which is recorded and displayed on my line monitor. A new Isobar 2-Outlet Surge Protector prevented last surge from affecting our new refrigerator electronics. Nearby, a friend using on old no-name surge protector had her PC motherboard destroyed by the last Hydro hit, and this did not happen during and electrical storm. I highly recommend Tripp Lite products: surge protectors for appliances and laptop, battery backup for desktop computer, and AC line-conditioner for entertainment equipment. The small cost of Tripp Lite products far exceeds the large cost of equipment repair/replacement and the out-of-service time to replace or repair. The peace of mind is worth every penny.

For less than CAD$40 I was glad to have come across this surge suppressor, which features the same isolated filter banks and thermal fuse that can be found in their more expensive isobar models but in a direct plug-in form with much smaller foot-print. The aluminum housing gives it a sturdy and premium look and feel compared to other direct plug-in but mostly plastic surge protectors that I could find in the same price range and joule rating (they are all made in China anyway, including this one). As with all commonly found surge suppressors, this one also has a limited lifespan but Tripp-Lite appears to offer lifetime warranty that you can simply ask for a replacement when the PROTECTION PRESENT LED goes out. I use it on my mini bluetooth tube amp and thanks to its multiple noise-filtering components (VHF & HF capacitors, MOV, ferrite rod-core inductors, and toroidal balanced chokes) it does filter out minor noise I could hear from my speakers as I have many other computer equipment sharing the same circuit. Note to Canadian buyers: do NOT use the provided mounting tab and screw, doing so will void your insurance and warranty. Refer to the owner's manual for more details.

If you are like me and don't like those 6 strips Surge protectors, this device is for you. It's compact and fits over your existing wall receptacle. It looks great. I don't actually know if it works since I have yet to get a spike in my voltage/line, but given the product's specs, it has plenty of overhead (joules) to dissipate any transient spikes. I highly recommend this product.

I've been using these for years as they meet the UL1449 standard and have a metal case, not a meltable plastic one. Never had a problem with the plug popping out of the back of the housing as some report. I just bought two more of these which were plugged in then unplugged a few times each and the plug on the back was still solid on both. I don't intend to remove them for years so I'm satisfied. Expensive but effective.

Did the job intended.
I wanted a simple surge protector for our new frig, and this did the job very well. I was able to cable strap it to the top back of our frig so I could see it and keep from extending the frig out any more. Very rugged build, far better than all of the plastic competition.

These Isobars are great, little bulky and have to use non-decora plug plates for a semi-perm install BUT i have seen no other surge protectors like these. Maybe a little out there, but I put these on my garage door openers, because they can be installed onto the plug plate, to reduce motor noise back into the electrical system. And Isobars have the best, that Ive seen, protection on the market. I have used these everywhere I have devices that produce line noise or are susceptible to line noise.

I would recommend the isobar series surge suppressor
I am using the isobar 2 on my washer and gas dryer. I just replaced the controller on my washer after 1 year of use. I have frequent power flickering due to old power lines to my house. Hopefully this surge suppressor will give we longer life on the controller.

The Perfect Product For My Situation
I had my garage door maintained and the tech noticed our opener and power for our roll up screen didn't have a Sure Protector on it. In Florida, it's a necessary item as we are in the top 3 places for lightning strikes in the world. Searching for one proved to be a bit taxing. I wanted one with just 2 outlets and the correct amount of Joules needed. I found 3,4,5 & 6 outlets everywhere but 2 caused quite a lot of searching. When I finally found this particular Isobar product at Tripp-Lite I was delighted. But to find it in white to match the white ceiling in the garage, I was beyond delighted. It's perfect and exactly what I needed.

Nice looking product that fit my needs perfectly.
This Isobar 2-outlet surge protector was purchased to use in my wife's home office. The product appears to be well constructed and was super simple to install. Also, it is easy to see the status lights. With all the products out there with unknown pedigrees I feel that I can still trust the Tripp-Lite branded products the most. I guess only time will tell as to the efficacy of the protector.

Great protection in an unobtrusive package
I bought this for my treadmill and it has done a great job. My only beef is that the outlet I plugged it into was mounted ground up in the wall, meaning I had to remount the outlet so that this could sit against the wall the way it is supposed to. If the plug could be rotated on this product, it would be perfect. Still a fantastic product.

Robust, heavy security.
I purchased 4 of these at once. I feel safer just knowing they're there even if they'll never have to suppress any surges. I have one at each outlet where any of my computers or televisions gets plugged in. I'm happy with the purchase. These feel robust. That said, the only issue is the mounting hardware/instructions. There's really little guidance on how to install these properly when permanently mounting and the screw that's supposed to affix the bracket to the top of the unit has too large of threads. This was the case on each of the four units and I previously read this issue in another review. I'm guessing there's a larger QA/QC issue at play. That's the only reason for 4/5 stars Other than that, no issues whatsoever!

Isobar from Tripp Lite has long been a trustworthy name for surge protection and noise filtration. I was so happy to find the direct to outlet box for my two audio amplifiers. Floor space for me is a premium but I did not want o compromise on protection and noise filtration for the power I supply my amplifiers. This was a perfect and elegant solution - free from the added noise and artifacts of more wire in the system.

Dedicated Outlet unit fills the bill.
Bought this for my plasma screen television and hopefully an update soon. Having just moved, I needed a new outlet dedicated surge protector for the television only. After some lengthy investigation, this appears to be the only dedicated Outlet unit on the market with sufficient joule rating sufficient to protect my monitor. My new area appears to be subject to occasional outages, as many in the last six months as I experienced in 10 years at my old home. So I wanted to be protected. This unit seems to fill the bill.

I liked it so much, I bought another one.
Great little product. I bought it to protect my gas tankless water heater because the PC board fried. Bought another one to protect my other sensitive equipment. I like that I can take this outlet and plug it in just about anywhere.

Bought this item to protect a new $3,000 refrigerator. Everything about it is as advertised - so far, so good. Prevents pushing the appliance back to the wall by about 3 inches, but that's not the fault of this unit, any surge protector would have posed the same issue.

Using to protect my brand new dishwasher. Power spikes can fry the (unfortunately) delicate and expensive to replace circuit boards in modern appliances. Check your warranty carefully! This model is sturdily built and has a high enough rating to protect the appliance. The 'bump' on the back and using the 'optional' bracket included in the package, holds it rigidly in place for a permanent installation such as mine. I don't think there is any worry about the blades breaking off in this current design. Two indicator lights confirm it's working properly. The connected equipment insurance is reassuring as long as they don't make me ship the dishwasher to them to prove it got fried by a power surge to collect ??.

I have used Tripp-Lite surge protection for years and always more than satisfied with them. I have never had any equipment connected to them damaged. Have not had a power loss since the installation so I'm confident that it will work when the time comes. Only bad thing is the device is hiding behind the fridge (typical) so fridge must come out to inspect the diagnostics. It is what it is & that is all that it is :)
Will probably get another for the new range to protect it's computerized parts.

I am an Electrical Engineer. TrippLite is all I use.
We put everything of consequence in our house on these protectors.
Just this winter during an ice storm, a nearby circuit took a bad fault and the power company's voltage regulator tried to jack the voltage on our leg up to compensate ... before it quit. The surge protection on one of our high end computers bit down on the over voltage and sacrificed itself. Components inside were burned to a crisp, but the case was cool to the touch. The computer still works perfectly. Hated to see it fry, but it saved our bacon.

I appreciate the high Joules rating on this surge suppressor and also the resettable 15 amp feature. One of these units will be mounted in our church attic (not an easy to get to location) to protect a projector. Having the cutoff power feature is a big plus for me. There will be no need to climb into the attic to inspect device after severe weather, unless projector is not operational. Thank you!

Bought this unit to use for my GE Cafe refrigerator. Have power outages in the area usually caused by storms and the refrigerator seems to be especially sensitive to them and goes out. Have to pull the refrigerator out from wall and unplug and then plug back into the outlet to get it to reset. Have had to do this twice in last three months so was afraid the outages/surges would fatally damage the electronics. After lots of internet research, decided on this Isobar unit. Was certainly easy to plug in and set up and seems to be built like a tank. Have not had an outage/surge since I installed it. Hopefully it will perform as it is supposed to and protect the refrigerator from burning out the electronics when next outages/surges happen. If so, it will be well worth the investment.

Perfect solution
What's the perfect solution to protecting a new home theater projector? The Tripp-Lite surge protector fits nicely in my attic where the projector plugs in from the room below. The outlet is on a roof joist at a slope, so I needed a surge protector that wouldn't slip. This one is perfect as it has a set screw system that prevents slipping. It has been installed for a month now with no issues, and I have peace of mind for an expensive piece of equipment.

Easy to use. Just plug it in and attach screw mounting bracket to secure it. We get a lot of power surges and lightning strikes here in Central Texas and this helps to protect the expensive front load washer and gas dryer circuit boards from overloads.

I bought a new electric piano and bought your product as recommended by the music store. The promise that I will never have a problem is great and I hope I never find out that the product didn't work as my piano would be toast. The promise of a monetary settlement would also replace the piano if it did become toast.

I first saw this surge protector in the 'Metershop' at the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) approximately 30 years ago (I believe it's less expensive now!) I've since worked with meter and protection engineers at 4 utilities and conducted research at the Washington State Energy Office. An IEEE member and worked with many of the alphabet agencies. I called TrippLite with a question and got an clear English speaking Engineer who went in depth to answer my somewhat esoteric question.
This UltraBlok is prominently displayed on my desk with various gadgets and awards. The hard core electrical engineers know what this is, because it is the utility industry standard. I used this unit to protect my new 1 1/4 hp garage door opener. It provides higher joule protection than most similar products on the market. Because the unit is fairly heavy, I had to remount my electrical outlet from an upside down position (open plug facing the floor), to a vertical (normal) position), to hold it in place properly.

A good choice when you only need to protect two outlets.
Used in ceiling and wall outlets in my golf simulator room, to protect a PC, projector, and launch monitor. High levels of protection in a compact form factor which takes up no floor space. Status indicator lights are a useful feature.
